Absolutely delicious upscale Mexican food! Not only was all of the food great, but everything was gluten free which is a huge bonus! I was visiting Asbury Park to celebrate my best friend’s engagement and our party of 10 got our own quiet, private section where all the staff, especially our waiter Mel, were so sweet, attentive, and personable. Definitely check this place out!

Went here for my birthday with friends and we had such a great time! Our server was excellent — so friendly and attentive — and the food was absolutely fantastic. We’ll definitely be back. My only small wish is that the lights in our booth could’ve been a bit lower for a cozier vibe, but overall it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

My husband and I just celebrated our 3rd anniversary at Barrio yesterday — that is also where we had our first date, where we went back for our engagement photos, and even stopped in on our wedding day to bring it full circle. The food was fantastic as usual and the service unmatched. Not only did the the staff make sure to wish us Happy Anniversary a number of times, but they also made the evening extra special and gave us a handwritten note signed by the staff, along with a gift card to celebrate. It was completely unexpected but 1000% appreciated! We never had any restaurant do anything so thoughtful to go out of their way like this to make a memorable evening and experience! 14/10 would recommend!!

It’s a cute little Spanish fusion restaurant in Ausbury park. Food menu is not long but everything we tasted was delicious. They brew their own beer which was excellent. I had a traditional margarita which was amazing. Service was top notch. Everything we ordered was brought to table super timely. We will definitely be back!

This place actually deserves 5 stars: the meat quality is great (the pork is roasted and crunchy), the jalapeños chimichurri is genius and the spicy margarita is on point, nice agave syrup. Happy hour offers interesting value with drinks at 8$ and tacos at 12$.

Barrio Costero was part of a large fundraiser we sponsored for JAR Of Hope and they were a standout vendor during the event! Their food was wonderful and the staff was incredibly friendly! Will definitely be giving them a visit again in the near future.

The drinks were amazing! That's what really stood out for me and also the atmosphere. It’s beautiful inside, I love how there's different decorations in different parts of the restaurant that all blended together. The Watermelon Margarita was WOW! The ceviche was good, we wished there was more shrimp though. I didn't really like the Torta de Milanesa , to me it lacked a lot in flavor. I would say the chicken was incredibly crispy but it didn't taste like anything. The ingredients listed "mole" on the menu but I didn't taste it at all in the sandwich. After I asked for a side of mole (which I was upset I was charged $4 because I mentioned I didn't taste any on my torta) that made the sandwich MUCH better! If they added more mole it would really elevate the torta. The classic margarita was well done. The staff was nice and welcoming but I would've liked if they gave our table more attention. We were all the way in the back of the restaurant, while most of the customers were outside or in the front part of the restaurant.

Barrio never misses! 🌟 It’s been one of my longtime favorites, and this visit reminded me exactly why. Their rotating specialty cocktails and ever-changing menu are always spot-on. I brought my close friend for her first time so she could soak in the flavors, the vibe, and the amazing service—and let’s just say, she’s hooked now too! Huge shoutout to Paul and Paul behind the bar 🙌 Their watermelon margarita is still on my mind - it was that good. The food? Absolutely unbelievable. Every bite was pure joy while the perfect playlist set the mood. We scored awesome seats at the bar, sipped, laughed, and savored it all. Already planning my next trip back—Barrio, you’ve got us for life! 💚🍹✨

This weekend may have been a washout with the weather, but not at Barrio Costero where the margs were flowing and the tacos were slapping! All about elevated small plates, the five of us happily shared super creative tacos and nachos, which oddly enough, provided the perfect antidote to the East Coast version of ‘June Gloom’. The plates are small and the drinks are small, but a lot of flavor is packed into each mouthful. That must be why I left feeling satisfied. Highly recommend if you like a touch of exotic flavor. I'd love to try everything on the menu.

Truly love everything about Barrio! Their staff is awesome, drinks are delicious and their food is amazing every time! Being gluten free, it’s so nice to be able to come here and eat almost everything on the menu. Also love how innovative they are with the ingredients and pairings. A must stop spot when in asbury!

I have gone to Barrio Costero time and time again and have never been disappointed or left feeling hungry. Their cuisine changes seasonally which makes for a new and uniquely delicious experience. Their cocktail menu has so many amazing drink and an outstanding tequila and mezcal selection. The food is a whole adventure in itself. The chef and his team make truly incredible dishes that have so many different preparations and ingredients. It’s perfect honestly for any occasion whether it’s date night or Sunday happy hour, you have to check them out!

The menu is limited, but every dish we tried was delicious. We visited on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the happy hour menu, ordering most of our dishes from there. The service was excellent, and the tostada with different sauces and guacamole was a standout. The gluten-free tacos were also flavorful and satisfying.

My friends and I visited Barrio Costero for a very late lunch on a summer Sunday, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was vibrant, perfect for our group of four to unwind (after a few hours baking in the hot sun at the beach) and enjoy some delicious food and drinks. To start off, I couldn't resist ordering the Hibiscus Margarita. It was the perfect combination of sour and sweet, truly refreshing and delightful. Definitely a must-try! For appetizers, we opted for the Barrio Nachos, which were pre-loaded with guacamole, crema, salsa, chihuahua, and black bean paste. These nachos were incredible and hands down my favorite part of the meal (aside from the margarita, of course). The flavors blended beautifully, making each bite a treat. We then sampled two types of tacos: Tacos de Pollo (adobo, romaine, jalapeno green goddess, queso fresco) and Tacos de Cauliflower ("chorizo" cauliflower, sweet chipotle, tofu, avocado). Both were delicious, but the Cauliflower Tacos stood out for me. They were packed with flavor and offered a unique twist that I absolutely loved. Our waiter was kind and attentive, more than happy to answer any questions we had. The service added to the overall pleasant experience. Barrio Costero is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy creative and flavorful dishes in Asbury Park!

THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR EATING. If you want a drink that is different and innovative, this is the bar. Liz was such a sweetheart, very kind and attentive. She was knowledgeable about the menu, honestly the only reason I didn’t leave immediately. This was nastiest food I have ever had the displeasure of paying for. If you grew up eating actual Mexican food, you will not enjoy the food here because it isn’t even food. Either the owners intentionally gave my party disgusting food or every other reviewer is lying. I grew up eating food from many different cultures within Latin America, none of it is nasty and inedible. I work so hard for the pennies I make and I truly feel like my money and my taste buds were wasted
