Same great authentic Mexican food from the original La Unica, but with more focus on the to-go crowd. They don't have a good sign and lighting to make them visible at night, but go ahead and turn in they're open. There are some subtle differences in menu offerings so don't assume just because they have it at the other locations that it is exactly the same size or quantity.

I LOVE the Tamales & Pico. Every time I go to Lufkin; I have to stop by & get me 2 dozen of the tamales. One to eat right then & one to bring back to Dallas with me. I wish they could mail me some tamales. Great Service & Friendly workers. I will go again.

Love the food but its even better that its walking distance from work ;) Edgar works the front counter and he always greets me with a warm hello. I usually buy stuff for other coworkers. Great food and they have a Monday-Wednesday specials. Ask about them.

They are so friendly and sweet. Their food is super good authentic mexican food. My favorite is the fajita tacos on flour tortias. Theit chops and salsa is one of my favorites! The best part is you can get free refills on fruit water. Other places charge you for refills. I go here maybe once a week lol.

Local hotspot for true Mexican food. Its a branch from the original La Unica hence the 'express'. Its purely drive thru but there are 2 small tables you can sit down at if you decide to walk inside. I recommend the tamale plate, and the ranch steak burrito.

It’s a small takeout and drive through. We has several of the tacos. They were fresh and tasty. However no photos as I had eaten most of them before thinking about photos.

This is the top of the chain, but authentic Tex-Mex. Not exactly a hole in the wall, but still has amazing carnitas. Their breakfast tacos are really good. Especially ranch steak. And the sauce that comes with them has good balance of heat and flavor.

They have very good real Mexican food but overpriced.

With a touch of the grill along every side of the burrito, La Unica embodies "delicious guilt." The beans possess a more layered and richer flavor than found in typical places, which sets the theme for the rest of the menu: flavor. Nowhere seen is the bland, grey soup. The pico doesn't skimp on the cilantro. Just a touch more here or there and La Unica could approach a more "haute" flavor, but it is not and should not. Embrace and enjoy it as it is, a comfortable TexMex with enough authenticity for flavor and bite, sealed with a grill. If you're on a diet, go ahead and enjoy a soda with your quesadilla. You can jog it off later.

Like most local restaurants, the quality of food can be somewhat inconsistent at times; but I always enjoy it. My favorites are the Ranch Steak Burrito and the Chicken Cheese Burrito. Also, skip the red salsa; always go for the green salsa, it's absolutely delicious. The staff are polite and fast.

It's a take-out restaurant, so there is nowhere to sit inside. They do have a drive-thru and a picnic table out front. I had the fajita bowl, and my wife had the baha bowl. It was very good and reasonably priced. For the 2 bowls and a Dr. Pepper, it costs $24.

Got tamales and another order. Plenty of pork in the tamales, good flavor. The chicken flutas? Were good 😊 first time getting food from them 😉

I have been eating here for years since I have got married me and my wife has eaten there many times. Even my mother-in-law loves to place. I have been married for 16 years now and I have ate there for several years before I got married. My opinion best Mexican food in Lufkin.

We went thru the drive thru. She couldn't hear us. She got the order wrong. We got it fixed. We ordered 4 tacos. It took about 10 minutes for the food. If you're not in a hurry, go here. The food was good.

Definitely deserves 4 stars. I’ve been coming to la única since I was a child. More than 15 years. I love their food and I will keep supporting them. But the other day I got a breakfast burrito with bacon potatoes and cheese and what an embarrassment . I legit don’t think it had any bacon in it. So with that being said 4 stars is all I can give.

I got 3 breakfast tacos. On flour, with chorizo & potatoes. Their salsa is super thin, so if you like a thicker salsa, this isn’t it. I couldn’t give 5 stars because at the edges of the tortillas, it was rock hard. Buttttt, the rest of the breakfast taco was DELICIOUS! Soft potatoes, savory chorizo. The salsa has a slight kick to it. It kept me full until noon for lunch & I ate at 7:30 am. I also had a fountain Coke & it was PERFECT! The service has always been good & I’m pleased to see La Unica doing well.

Well the food is always good. But I have a problem with when you have menu prices listed on your outside menu and online menu and you charge me something else. I'm sorry you need to charge what you advertise. That is very off putting

The burritos are OK... the Steak burrito is the best one. The food is average. Very polite staff.

Food is really good! But I just wish they could stop being so stingy and give you more hot salsa, because that little container is just barely for 1 taco. And if you ask for more they will charge you more money for it and if I'm not mistaken is 50 cents more. Their prices are a little bit high for the plates so it will only be fair if they could make that little bitty hot salsa a little bit bigger, at least to cover 2 tacos instead of just one. Just sayin!

I didn't care much for anything. I had chicken fajitas, tamales, ranch steak burritos , and regular crunchy and soft tacos, and chips & salsa. I took a bite- 2 bites out of EVERYTHING, because Im a Secret Shopper, and was NOT IMPRESSED. Everything just tasted so bland. And also was old. The salsa had NO vegetables in it. It wasn't thick at all, just runny. It was spicy though. The chips were old and VERY OILY. The BEST Mexican restaurant I and my husband went to while in Texas was, Casa O'Le. We were traveling from Kentucky to Lufkin and also Longview Texas for Thanksgiving holiday. We stayed 4 days. - Casa O'Le was THE BEST RESTAURANT we went to while in Texas! Thats compared to, Whataburger, La Unica and, Chicken Express, King Fish. At Casa O'Le I ordered Chicken& Shrimp & Beef/steak fajitas, my husband ordered Steak Quesadillas. And the food was BEYOND AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!. AND CHEAPER than La Unica Express. It also took us ONLY 10 MINS to get our food from Casa O' Le and at La Unica it took close to 30 mins to get our order. - And paid $40 , which was NOT WORTH IT!

I've been coming through here for years and I'm TIRED of getting the wrong items. The food is good but I've routinely been given something I didn't order. Burrito with cheese when I asked for no cheese. 2 burritos when I ordered 3. A side of charro beans when I asked for refried beans. No drink when I ordered one. I know they work hard and mostly do a good job but its frustrating to drive away and not have what I ordered to feed my family. Why can't you read the order back to ensure we're both on the same page?

I go in order at the Luna Cafe Express in Lufkin several times a month most of the time I get to ranchero breakfast burritos here lately I have been getting a lot of big pieces of gristle that you cannot eat or chew in the burritos not only that this morning they had left them on the grill so long they tortillas was so hard I got the employees to feel loved it and they even said no that wasn't right and I was almost back to Huntington will I live when I rest in the bag to get one so I had to drive all the way back into Lufkin to get some but I can actually eat

Tastes awesome and their plates are a great portion. Can't say the same about their burritos, however. Again the taste is awesome but they need to load up their burritos more. More than half is nothing but tortilla :/

I've had breakfast 3 times from La Unica, twice at the Express location. I was very disappointed both times. The breakfast taco last time lacked flavor but was okay after I added seasoning to it. This morning I had a bacon, egg, and potato taco. I was very disappointed in it all around. The bacon was in tiny bits to where i couldn't even taste it. The the taco itself was very small, a three bite breakfast. I am still hungry and felt like I've wasted my money. I am so disappointed and will not be returning for breakfast.

Drive thru lady’s ain’t friendly at all and found a piece of metal in my food!

The worst taste and service. They take forever and they still get your order wrong but will charge you and wont offer to fix anything.

The portions were very disappointing. The burrito size is plain sad. My burrito had only ground beef in it, no cheese or beans and rice like you might expect. The enchiladas I ordered were also very small. Also, the beans stunk and the rice was nasty smelling and tasting. I would avoid this place if you are hungry for good Mexican food.

I have always loved this place, however this time made me NEVER want to go back. I ordered food for my staff and myself and upon arriving at work i noticed my order was wrong!! I called in just to explain what happened and they were so defensive, as if i was lying about my order being incorrect. I am not a complainer but when someone doesn't even acknowledge their mistake it makes it harder to excuse it. and to say the least the potatoes weren't even cooked all the way.

This Burrito was not worth the money. I got jipped.

The lady in the morning is very rude, and service is super slow. If you want unica just go to the other location you will be happier

I thought it was suppose to be more authentic however the cheese enchiladas were so gross. Just regular shredded chewy cheese instead of your traditional creamy cheese. The grease was only thing giving the red sauce flavor as it was so watered down. The sauce for the chips was watered down tomato flavored. And everything was cold. The enchiladas and the rice. The only warm item was the charro beans which were good. Rice was very dry but not terrible. The ladies taking the order were very friendly unfortunately the food was over all bland and cold.

I have always liked la Unicas food. Went there today at the la Unica express and what a disappointment. There was a huge line up right up to the street on the drive thru,so I decided to go in maybe faster? I put in my order,and waited,3 guys come in put their order in and left before me,meanwhile the drive thru cars are gone. I get my food and asked for extra red sauce,OMG,it was water with a pinch of red pepper I guess,it was just watery with no flavor. They can keep their crappy food and crappy customer service because I’m not going back there. I’m changing my review after Speaking to Marta the owner of la unica express and she was so nice and told me she’s going to check out what’s going on. I hope she does,than I’ll go back.

I paid to add beans and they didn’t give me any eggs. I added the beans for extra protein and they took out the better source of protein 🤦‍♀️ it was also extremely bland and was mostly tortilla.

This is the worst place I ordered a ranch steak burrito an it’s suppose to have beans and cheese Every time I would go it never has beans an barely any cheese to add to that meat is always dry then on top of that they wanna charge .45 for extra sauce I mean I opened up my burritos after calling them cause she said there is beans but I mean I don’t see no beans in there for them prices they need to have what they say they have in it then they bumped up the prices like come on do better but screw that I’d rather wait that long line at the other unica than go again to this one
