Sacha Madrid is truly an institution. You feel it the moment you step inside. It is not easy to find a table here, and I was lucky to get a late lunch reservation. The ambiance is full of character, with ultramarine blue floors and white walls adorned with framed historical photos and artwork. The space feels like a charming home, and the combination of blue and white tones with crisp white tablecloths creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service was impeccable from the start, the staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The food combines classic tradition with artistic expression. The “fake lasagna” filled with king crab was outstanding, delicate yet rich in flavor. A large langoustine served on a vegetable sauce was equally memorable. We also tried the “Snowfall” salad, a refreshing mix of peach and young pea shoots with a perfectly balanced dressing. The sole meunière was flawlessly cooked, delicate and buttery. It paired beautifully with a non-oaked Albariño, which was crisp, fresh, and vibrant. Dessert also deserves a mention. I forgot the name, but it was absolutely delicious. I will let the photo speak for itself in my post. The menu was only in Spanish, but we used our phones to translate and never felt lost. The manager and our waiter explained every dish with care and enthusiasm, so the language was never an obstacle. We were truly happy to find a table. Sacha is much more than a restaurant. It is an experience worth having in Madrid.
Absolutely original excellent clean, and casual looking but at same time rich on delivering flavour and precise. No wonder it has the reputation of a quintessential original basque bistro that precedes it. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, highlight was the lamb kidneys as well as Sacha’s take on crab lasagne, lobster salad was excellent and the cod tartare - simple but exceptional! The service was caring, we were looked after by the manager Jason and the attention as paid throughout our meal: serving portion sizes (splitting dishes into two plates before serving etc). We finished with a lovely home made and fresh tasting sorbet on the terrace. A meal to remember. MUST visit when in Madrid.
We took a 30 minute Uber ride to dine here and what a great decision. Clearly we were dining in a restaurant where everyone knew everyone. It was a little tricky to find, since it's on the first floor of an apartment building, but it was worth the effort on a rainy night. The food is superb. The menu is in Spanish, but they were nice enough to help us translate when Google failed us.
Our visit to Restaurante Sacha in Madrid was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to a recommendation from a chef friend. We were welcomed personally by Sacha himself, who is as warm and charismatic as the stories suggest. Without a formal menu in hand, he asked about our likes and dislikes and curated a personalized tasting menu paired with outstanding wines. Each dish was a masterpiece, but the standout was the sardine—unlike anything I’ve ever had. The Falsa Lasaña de Txangurro was also a revelation, with perfectly balanced flavors that left us speechless. The service, ambiance, and, most importantly, the food exceeded all expectations. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone visiting Madrid to experience Sacha. You won’t be disappointed, and, like us, you may find yourself with a new favorite restaurant in the city.
Quaint restaurant inside a garden in the middle of the block. Once inside you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The service is very professional and the table is pristine. After we ordered our food. We looked around us and absorbed the history on the walls and decorations. The food came 15 mins later and we all enjoyed all the plates. The soft omelette was easily one of the best we’ve had in Madrid. The steak was really good too. Lamb chops, fish with prawns, garlic soup, and ravioli was good. Overall this was one of best lunches in Madrid as we were fortunate to get reservations. Don’t skip on this restaurant.
10/10 meal! We had the False Lasagna, fried artichokes, omelet with blood sausage, lamb chops and the sting ray. Everything was insanely good. Really appreciated that the servers and kitchen adjusted the portions for sharing. We were a group of three and they split everything before hand so we were served our own plates of everything. A little out of the way as we were staying in Barrio Salamanca but totally worth it.
What a truly incredible dining experience! The staff and service are very attentive and top notch and the food was beyond excellent. We were able to get a lunch time reservation and enjoyed the omelette, entrecotte, and stingray. They were all delicious but the omelette and stingray were the star of the show. The omelette was perfectly cooked (just barely set) and the crispy potatoes balanced perfectly with the blood sausage and peppers, while the stingray was tender, rich, and so flavorful. The menu was only in Spanish but between some basic translating, reading other reviews, and some great suggestions from the staff we put together a great little menu. We’ll absolutely have to return on the next trip to Madrid!
For me …. PERFECTION Jason did an excellent job of helping me choose those dishes that were ‘special’. The omelette with potato and blood sausage was excellent, with eggs that were only cooked enough so you knew it was an omelette. Accompanied by a side of very thinly sliced asparagus with a slightly acidic and spicy dressing. Next, the skate; RICH, TENDER, BUTTERY …. DELICIOUS And finally(as I was full) … a whole pigs ear ! an explosion of flavor AND TEXTURE in your mouth. Crispy Skin + Soft Skin + Chewy Cartilage + Soft Fatty bits = AMAZING All washed down with a glass of cava and house red. Sacha introduced himself and suggested I would enjoy the asparagus better if I used my hands 😁
Visiting from NYC and my local Spanish friend took me to Sacha. What a great gem of a place. The staff is super friendly and attentive. We wanted to taste as many dishes as possible and the maîtred helped us create a tasting menu where we shared all the dishes. All were incredible. Not to be missed is the Lasagna falsa and the Alcachofas. Needless to say that I loved the place so much that I ended up going again with my wife two nights later. Reservations are not easy because the place is small, but if you check the day before or day of you might be able to get a last minute cancelation. Highly recommend.
Basque food offered at a quaint bottileria that's perfect for a long lunch. Incredibly unique plates. Fare that I'd never heard of and that locals we brought had also never seen before. The sea is the star here and the offerings shine brightly. The tortilla vago was amazing, as was the cosecha. Chuletitas were the crispiest lamb bites I've ever had... Think chicharron on the outside. No clue how they did that. Inspired and creative. I look forward to this again.
Super delicious place! Kind of old fashioned in character, but the food is magnificent and they were very kind to help us understand the menu. The carabañero dish is a must! Their version of tortilla de patatas is popular, but less exciting than other options from the menu. Ask to sit by the window, as the restaurant could be quite dark in dayligjt.
My wife and I booked at Sacha for lunch during a recent trip to Madrid. It was completely exceptional! The terrace was closed for the season, so we were seated in the small dining room. While th…

I liked the food but I didn’t love it. I mean considering how hard is it to find a reservation, the food has to meet a huge expectation. I would come back to the restaurant but I thought it’s better to be honest. I liked the lamb chops, and the tortillas. I tried two different desserts, they are okay but maybe they have better (one of them was supposed to be the best one in the menu which has a goat cheese). The service is a bit slow, i would prefer if it was faster. But the staff was amazing. Overall, i might try it again, but did not meet the expectations i had.
Sacha, an old-school Spanish restaurant that was originally started by a couple who named the place after their only son. it is an intimate bistro which is a favourite not just with locals but also with chefs from near and far, perhaps the finest accolade a restaurant can receive. The menu is only in Spanish which is a bit restrictive. The Steak tartar and the Lamp chops were the highlights of the dinner.
I was hoping to have lunch at a cozy outdoor terrace but when I arrived I was told that the space was supposed to be destined to grab a quick cup of coffee because of the “cold and windy weather”. I was offered to sit outside nonetheless, but it was unappealing and uninviting (not decorated or anything). Thus, I stepped inside to an old fashioned kind of bistro which was nice. The menu was varied, seafood, poultry, meat, veggies... had the onion soup which was tasty but nothing exciting and overpriced. Loved the steak with the baked potato and the bone marrow broth, great price for the size of the portion and the quality of the dish. Nice negroni and Tempranillo by the glass. The deconstructed cheese and raspberry tart was exquisite. Expensive “cubierto” or as I understood “the not complimentary bread”. Friendly staff and great service and suggestions. Overall, an ok choice for an upscale lunch but I was expecting more for sure.
Cosy, unpretentious restaurant with a great staff. Good food and good service with a good wine list make it worth a try.

We were genuinely excited to finally try Sacha, especially after hearing so many wonderful things. The space itself is undeniably charming, small, intimate, and full of that cozy, old-world character that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem. Unfortunately, our experience got off on the wrong foot. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, and we kindly asked if we could sit at a different table. The maître d’ responded in a way that felt unexpectedly cold and unaccommodating, telling us the tables were “taken” without any warmth or flexibility. It set a tone that caught us off guard, especially in a place known for its hospitality. Even so, we were very eager to dive into the food we’d heard so much about. But, if I’m being completely honest, the dishes were just… okay. Not terrible by any means, but surprisingly underwhelming. Perhaps it was an off day in the kitchen—these things happen—but given the restaurant’s reputation, it was disappointing. We arrived with high hopes and left feeling a bit let down. I really wanted to love Sacha, and maybe with a warmer welcome, and a better night in the kitchen, the experience could have been what we imagined. But this visit simply didn’t live up to the expectations.
A evitar.
A let down compared to the good reviews here. Did not enjoy the food at all. Orderes the crab lasagne, sardine, fried artichoke and lamb chop. Paid the bill even before finishing just to get our of this place.
