GhostFire Pizza – Marathon, Texas | A Must-Visit Pizza Stop in West Texas GhostFire Pizza in Marathon, Texas was one of those wonderful surprises that makes traveling through West Texas so memorable. After a long day on the road exploring Big Bend country, finding a place with fresh, handcrafted pizza and a welcoming atmosphere felt like striking gold. The pizza was absolutely delicious — perfectly baked crust, fresh toppings, and rich flavor that hit the spot after a day of adventure. It’s easily one of the best pizza experiences I’ve had while traveling through the region. What really elevates GhostFire Pizza beyond just great food is the exceptional service. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcomed and relaxed, creating an easygoing atmosphere that reflects the friendly spirit of Marathon itself. A special thanks to Brent, whose warm greeting and genuine hospitality made my arrival in town feel personal and memorable. That kind of kindness is what turns a simple meal into a great travel memory. If you’re visiting Marathon, heading to Big Bend National Park, or exploring the scenic routes of West Texas, GhostFire Pizza is a must-stop for travelers, RVers, and food lovers alike. Great pizza, excellent service, and a true small-town Texas welcome — I’ll definitely be returning on my next journey through this beautiful desert region.
This West Texas Sourdough Crust is what makes this pizza so delicious!! Don’t be afraid to get the Pesto Diablo Pizza. It’s not as hot as the name suggests (which was great for us, we don’t like anything when it’s overly spicy.) We almost were able to eat both pies and would have been disappointed if we only ordered one.
I can’t think of any other pizza I enjoyed as much as this pizza!!! We had the Pesto Diablo and the Texapolitan. It was so fantastic, my husband and I ate two pizzas in one sitting! Beyond the amazing flavor combinations, it didn’t leave you feeling sluggish or a rock in your stomach. Truly, the BEST! Paired with the atmosphere and customer service, I will be dreaming of this pizza and the day I can return. 😁
The Pesto Diablo (Pepperoni, Fior Di Latte, Fresh Basil Pesto, Ghostfire Hot Honey Drizzle) is one of the best pizzas in the State of Texas, which is really, really big by the way! The food is only matched by the friendly staff and amazing outdoor patio views. When in Marathon, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit.
You could not even believe how good a pizza would taste in a town of 400 people in South West Texas….and then you eat a ghost fire….it will absolutely blow your mind. Even if you have to drive a couple of hours….desert ghost distillery next door…worth every chew. Been a lot of places all over the world and this stands out…no joke!!!!!
I had moderate expectations for this place as it was the only place in town open for dinner, but instead, it blew us away. Hands down the pepperoni pizza was the best pizza we’ve ever eaten. The owner travelled to Europe for the ingredients in the super light crust. I’m not sure how he got it so thin and crispy but WOW! And it stayed crispy through the last bite. We highly recommend a stop in Marathon to try it for yourself. It was superb!
This is THE place to visit in tri-county area. The pizza is absolutely the best in tri-county and right next door is the desert ghost distillery. Get a flight and buy a bottle, the flight is then free. This place is the absolute best out here.
Awesome pizza! Epic ingredients and sourdough crust the best. All very inspired! First review from May 2025. Was back in Alpine for Art Fest in November and drove to Marathon just to try Ghostfire Pizza again. Still awesome!
This pizza place is a FANTASTIC addition to Marathon, especially for visitors staying at The Gage Hotel. It gives another option for eating when visiting with young kids and on days the other restaurants are closed. The pizza choices are unique and yummy. We went twice while in town to get pizza here. They wanted to make sure we enjoyed our pizza and that it tased great. We ate our pizza at the Desert Ghost Distillery, though you have the option to get it "to go". Being able to get at the Distillery while having cocktails is a nice touch and fun!
If you want good pizza, you’ll get it here. Full stop. If you want to try a pie unlike anything you’ve had anywhere else in the WORLD, you’re in for a serious treat. This is a MUST GO restaurant in West Texas. Plus an extra star because the owner, Brent, is super cool, friendly, & kind.

We stopped by before heading home from a few days in Big Bend. The pizza is delicious and, lo and behold, next to a nice cocktail bar (opens at 3pm). Pizza and whiskey in one stop. We reccomend the Pesto Diablo and the Chico Malo. The ingredients taste fresh and their hot honey is amazing. The staff are great and very accommodating. This is such a cool gem in Marathon.
Our new favorite place in Brewster County! Fantastic pizza and a flight of old fashions! We had the Pesto Diablo and the Chico Malo. The thin sourdough crust was to die for and everything was so fresh. I can't enough about the impeccable service and cool esthetic. We will be back for sure!
Pizza is amazing! Staff is so friendly and helpful. This place is right next to a distillery so you can have a drink in hand and they deliver your pizza. Wish I lived closer I’d be here every week!
This place has the best pizza you could ask for! Everything is fresh and very delicious! The pizzas are even made in a stone oven, which is my favorite! Very kind and helpful people as well. Thank you, ghost fire pizza!
No joke. The pizza was one of the best I’ve had. And I would say I’m a very experienced pizza lover. The crust is light and soft, well risen and the ingredientes very well paired. They have a large patio with the space for the kids and large parties. Definitely dedicate an evening to eat there. You’re welcome 😉
GhostFire Pizza in Marathon, TX seriously impressed me. The homemade sourdough crust was perfectly crisp with just the right chew, and the balance of sauce to cheese was spot on. We ordered the Texapolitan and the Margherita, and both were outstanding in their own way. I’ll say this, it’s my favorite pizza in all of West Texas thus far! On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The Fam and I will be making the trip back from Fort Stockton soon and probably often going forward!
Fantastic elevated pizza. Some of the best crust I’ve eaten - light and crisp. GhostFire has fun combinations. We tried the Texaspolitan, Margherita, Pesto Diablo, and the Rancher. All excellent, zero left over with our group. Love that it’s connected to the Desert Ghost Distillery where you can enjoy pizza and a cocktail on the patio. Friendly, personable service - highly recommend!
Visited Ghost Fire Pizza for my partner's 40th birthday last night. We were greeted warmly and the 2 gentlemen making the pizzas were open to answering questions before we ordered. We settled in with some cocktails next door while we waited, and it was worth every second of the brief wait. The Texapolitain came out first- the crust was perfection, crispy, chewy and delightful. The fresh toppings complimented each other like food should- the fresh jalapeños cut through the fatty goodness of the meats and cheese. The staff apologized for the delay of our margarita pizza, as they did not like the first one they made and wanted to be sure that this classic pie was executed perfectly. What came to our table was just that- again- perfection! I love pizza, I adore good pizza- but this is the stuff of dreams. I Can't wait to come back and enjoy it again soon.
Pizza was great! Enjoyed the conversation and watching our pizza being created. We ordered pepperoni half with sauce and the other half dry. Both sides were delicious. Nice addition to Marathon.

Great pizza for the area. These guys know what they’re doing. Fresh crust and great toppings. Each one packed with care. Get in there and get two!

The best part of our stop in Marathon! Family friendly and amazing flavors. The pesto with hot honey - wow! Kids loved their classic margarita. A must stop for our family.
Atmosphere AMAZING! Pizza AMAZING! I waited way too long to try this place! The staff was excellent and the best part we ate our pizza at the bar! Brent and Eric were such a delight, definitely going back soon!
Absolutely fantastic! The pizza here is on another level — perfectly charred crust with just the right amount of chew, and the toppings are fresh and flavorful. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting — perfect for a casual night out or date night. Highly recommend if you're a true pizza lover. We’ll definitely be back! Grab a drink from next door while you're there.
Ghostfire Pizza – Honest Take Came in with a group of six on a Saturday around 7:30-ish, right before closing. High Desert Hawaiian Ham, fresh pineapple, oregano (minus jalapeños). Say what you want about pineapple — this one actually worked. The pineapple popped, flavors were solid, and it delivered exactly what it promised. No shame here. Chisos Garlic Bread Garlic-infused olive oil, fior di latte, parmesan, oregano. Unfortunately, this was bland and pretty terrible. Nothing memorable, nothing unique, and honestly skippable. Pesto Diablo Pepperoni, fior di latte, fresh basil pesto, Ghostfire hot honey drizzle. This was the family favorite. The hot honey did the heavy lifting and brought some needed excitement. Margherita Classic Basil, basil pesto, parmesan, fior di latte. Fine, but left a bit to be desired. Nothing bad — just nothing that stood out. Overall There’s really nothing else like it in the area, which works in its favor. Pricing feels a little high — knocking $3–$5 off per pizza would feel more appropriate. Being remote doesn’t automatically justify the cost. Recommendation? Yes — mostly because there aren’t comparable options nearby. Rating: 3.5 / 5 Solid, but mid at best.
