We came for a quick breakfast and we're floored! i had coffee and their salmon toast, my husband had the bagel and cream cheese. There were no" throw away items"- from the bread used for toast to the tomatoes freshness- thickly spread , good quality cream cheese and very friendly service! it's a must try..
You can't go wrong with anything you order from here! They serve the absolute best drinks whether its coffee/ espresso or cocktails and mocktails. And the people who work here are the nicest and most welcoming, on top of the atmosphere from morning to night! Highly recommended!!
Loved the recent remodel of the cafe area. Consistently good coffee. Used to work/study here quite a lot, it can be a bit noisy but not unbearable. Love the cold brew and lavender latte. Prices are a bit high, but quality reflects that. Definitely check out the adjacent bar for great cocktails if not in the mood for coffee.
Very friendly, excellent customer service, and coffee and teas are amazing! Great food, everything is delicious on there menu! Much better than Starbucks and there coffee much more flavor full and rich. Wide choice of creamers. Great place to meet with friends, relax, read, study or just hang out downtown old Martinez.
Every type of latte I've had has been good. The price isn't far off of a Starbucks drink and I prefer the coffee served here. Every one has been super friendly as well. A great place overall.
Pricey, but delicious, with unique offerings. If you are looking for a unique beverage, coffee or otherwise, this is a delicious and small local coffeehouse with quite a few offerings, including fresh shakes (very thin), sandwiches, pastries, and various coffee drinks with flavors like rose and lavender honey. The items are a little pricey compared to similar offerings from chains like Starbucks, but the portions are good and the taste makes it definitely worth the cost, in my opinion. Seating is limited with COVID-19 regulations, with two tables available outside. The area is pretty nice though, and it is worth walking around while drinking your coffee. The area is near the courthouse and municipale buildings, and I do feel pretty safe in this area. Please note: I only visited the coffee bar portion and not the cocktail bar, though it seems just as nice.
My wife and stopped here for coffee and light breakfast while we were in town visiting relatives. We really enjoyed our food and coffee. Great service and atmosphere. We will definitely return the next time we’re in town.
Lovely little shop with a variety of drinks and things to nibble on. Good atmosphere and friendly staff definitely a place to rest up at with a nice iced or hot drink ^^
Love! Love! Love this place! An amazing revolving menu of delicious sandwiches and unique coffee drinks always served with flare. Plus a great atmosphere with fun seating and plenty of books and games to distract you while you wait. Best Coffee Shop in Martinez!
They had a good amount of outdoor seating. I had the curry toast which was delicious. My friend and I ordered mimosas, they give you a whole bottle of champagne to pour for yourself so be aware. You can’t leave with a half empty open bottle so you gotta drink it all or be okay wasting some. I’ll be coming back next time I’m in Martinez
Hands down this is the best coffee in Martinez, CA. The coffee is always on point. They have other great menu items as well and Kombucha on tap! The aesthetic of this location is delightful. It gives off Central Perk Coffee shop vibes lol IYKYk. They have excellent customer service. People always mention the other local coffee shop(won't say names but they have watered down coffee). I'm here to clarify once and for all this is the the true gem of Martinez coffee shops.
I love the coffees, especially the mint latte. Yum yum. The infused teas are great over ice. I keep telling myself I'm going to try another sandwich, but the Love Life had the best blue cheese. I'm usually there on a Sunday when you can also get mimosas. I can't drink champagne, but I'm told they're yummy. The same with their Bloody Marys if the bar is open. Hope you like spicy.
Man, they know drinks. They know coffee, cookies, baked goods, perfectly sized plates to serve their oversized cookies on. You get coffee here; you get quality. There's been a frumpy stuffed bear seated here for a long time, I think they have customer loyalty down because he seems happy enough. Friendly staff. Always people here reading the paper... probably spies from another country, but at least they also have good taste.
Absolutely the best place for craft cocktails, variety of wines and a solid selection of beers. Food is also quality with fresh ingredients. It doesn't get better in Martinez or the East Bay. Try their bacon bloody Mary! Selections change, creative and interesting.
This coffee shop has all the right vibes. This is where the locals go because it's truly that consistent of an experience.
Want the real deal? There is no other one place that will pour you the greatest espresso or rye whisky you’ve ever had under one roof. Staff here is the bee’s knees always make the best recommendations and best drinks not even if exaggerating
The staff is really polite and the atmosphere is really relaxing. It’s a clean and well put together place. The vibe is very chill and welcoming. It is set up to be a place to can sit in and enjoy your food and drinks with your friends or by yourself. There are board games if you want to play with friends. I enjoy this place being a place to have my coffee in a comfortable setting, you will too.
Gorgeous coffee house, really great coffee, amazing staff and awesome music!!! It's a treat being here!
This place is amazing! I thought maybe it was a new place if I don’t live in Martinez but they have been there for 10 years. The atmosphere is rustic and cool all the same time it has a full bar and wonderful coffee, tea and on tap Kombucha!! we went for the on tap, kombucha, watermelon, and elderberry🩷❤️Beyond yummy! I would give 20 ⭐️ They have a walk up window as well. Oh yes they have some food items as well. Outside seating right on Main St. with gas stove options!
I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. The staff were really nice and the atmosphere is so cozy! The msyic was really relaxing and chill. They have lots of board games open to anyone who wants to use them which is super fun, and so many choices for plant based milks! I got a mocha with soy milk and oh my god it's the best coffee I've ever had. The food was also all so yummy and lots healthy options that taste great and are very filling :D I am definitely coming back here as soon as possible becuase it was just all around a wonderful experience and absolutely worth the money! I spent $16 on a coffee and 2 toasts.
Okay wow this place is 10/10 in my book! I have been blessed with a multitude of food allergies and this place catered to me 100%. They offered a vegan (dairy free for me!) maple donut which was amazing, it wasn’t overly sweet but just perfect and a spectacular iced lavender honey coffee. In addition because of covid they give you your drink in a glass jar which you can keep! It’s the little things like this that really put this place on the map for me. Expect me to become a regular here because it’s everything I am looking for.
It was quick, cute, cozy. And they even filled up my reusable water bottle. Also there was a group of men hanging out inside having coffee, one of them had a dog. It was adorable 😍. Its a whole vibe to go have coffee on a Saturday morning with your friends I ordered a chai latte with almond milk and honey, and a breakfast panini it was the bacon one yumm. Spent somewhere around 20$
So I have to be honest and say that I did not purchase anything here. My girlfriend needed a coffee, so we stopped in. I sat and waited for her. It was a pretty busy place. There were about 6 people waiting in line. I thought the decor was nice. The space was inviting and comfortable. It took a while to get the coffee, but she said it was good. I will take her word for it.
Got a Vanilla Latte, Earl Gray Lavender Tea, and 2 sandwiches. We housed everything before I could take a picture lol. It definitely hit the spot. Everything was just right, nothing crazy or exotic, but just what we needed. My husband's latte tasted so good I got my own rose latte to go which was equally as good. Not too sweet, just the right amount of rose, and happy with the coffee they use. I think I found a good, standalone coffee shop to take family to when they visit 😊 They use a decent San Francisco local coffee. The atmosphere is comfy and welcoming.
Wonderful customer service! Friendly, happy to make suggestions. Great overall eclectic vibe. Menu bears a beautiful balance of food and drink options. Caffeine free, dairy free, and gluten free options are all available.
place is a little pricey but it is honestly worth it. i was having a rough wednesday morning and i hadn’t eaten breakfast so i stopped by this place. I had the avocado toast and the chocolate mocha and let me tell you! the chocolate mocha was perfect! the chocolate and mocha go very well together and no flavor overpowers the other. the avocado toast was absolutely delicious, i felt very happy after eating it and that was because i realized that i was eating a very well crafted breakfast. i’ve been struggling with my mental health lately and i havent had the best days but this really made my morning a lot better. thank you barrelista coffee house! p.s customer service was amazing! give this place a go it’s worth every penny
Seriously one of my two favorite coffee spots in the East Bay! I love their lavender and rose iced lattes with almond milk, and the fact that they use Mason jars. Also, I've had their veggie panini once and it was delicious. Great spot to read or take a break after the Sunday farmer's market.
Probably the best avocado toast I've ever had! All made in house too! And the coffee is really smooth for just a regular black coffee. Impressive!
Definitely my go to place for ice cold coffee with a twist and not to mention the awesome customer service and she is so helpful and kind with really good recommendations for those of you that are into cold or hot coffee they got you covered. Also the outdoor seating is cool with social distance in affect
Iced latte was great, and no plastic cup (yay!) instead I was served in this lovely reusable mason jar w a lid. Quick window walk-up on main st with a few picnic tables. Want to try something to eat next time, looks like a good cafe menu.
I got the macadamia cinnamon latte with an almond croissant. Both were equally delicious and the service was superb! Young lady at the front was super friendly and conscious of the temperature of my latte (since I believe macadamia nut milk runs a bit cold even after being warmed up). Throughly enjoyed my visit here, the vibe and the tasty treats! Will be coming back

3.5 stars, really. The coffee was okay. Nothing to get excited about. Additionally, they seem to only have one size for each espresso drink, but the cup size for each type of drink is different. We went later in the afternoon, which may have had a bearing on the relatively slow service, but that the two employees out front we're running both the coffee house and attached bar probably played a larger factor Still better than Starbucks, though
Locally owned, relaxed friendly vibe, good service, good quality coffee & teas. Sometimes hard to find a seat, especially if you're meeting worth a group, because seating is limited and the place is popular. Convenient to Martinez downtown shops & county offices.
Deliciouse coffee and super close to the Amtrak station. Stopped by while i was waiting for a train connection. Had a perfect oatmilk latte . They also have toasts the can alter to make vegan . Very nice people working there !
Cute little coffee shop and bar. Very good for any dietary style.

No menu prices anywhere, which is really annoying. Lattes were pricey - about $7.50. Guess they're trying to hide that by not posting prices? So instead you just get to be shocked when it comes time to pay? Interesting flavor options though, and decent drink overall. Service is pretty slow.
$6 + tax for a cappucino here isn't worth it 🤷🏽♂️ Seemed like a nice place to work from though.
Decently cute Portlandish coffee shop, with actually good coffee, mid food, marred by a few issues with service and the vibe. First, no greeting or kindness. After ordering, I realized that none of the tables were being cleared or cleaned. Dirty tables kill the vibe, so I picked a less convenient spot to sit. There was no WiFi too, but no biggie. Then, a homeless dude who was chilling inside for a while grabs the largest 6 person table and starts rambling threats. I appreciate the staff showing kindness in the rain, but they don’t need to let someone cause a disturbance and occupy your cafe’s largest table. (To top it off, the homeless guy later steals from the shop.) When leaving, there’s no thank you, come back, or appreciation. Also, please put prices on the food menu?!

I only had coffee but it was very expensive and quite a mild flavor. Maybe the place is better known for its beer than coffee. Decor was awesome. Food looked interesting on the menu but I didn't try anything. Not too many choices it seemed from looking at the menu.

First time I have been to a restaurant with no prices on the menu. Sandwich took too long, at least half hour.

I ordered a hot chai tea latte to go. It was my first time in on this Saturday, May 29t, 2023 at 1:15. The girl behind the counter served me a warm cup of frothy milk with NO chai for $6. She was slow because she was chatting with another employee the whole time. When she slid me my drink she made no eye contact at all , just kept going with her conversation. That will be my first and last time in. No prices are posted ANYWHERE for the menu items-that feels shady.
This used to be my favorite spot in Martinez. I met my wife here. Over the years the service has gone downhill. They remodeled it to accommodate for more traffic, but it ruined the atmosphere. Prices keep going up. I often like to order ahead for a quick pick up. 80% of the time they “ miss my order” or claim the “order just came in”. Today I ordered at 8:02 and finally got my food at 8:42. It wasn’t busy when I arrived. I don’t care how good the food is, I’m never supporting this business again. Edit: I reached out to Barrelista on instagram back in February and they were unresponsive. I finally decided to post this review after countless occasions of my order ahead not being worked on until I actually show up. If this was a singular occurrence - fine everyone makes mistakes - but this systemic. Don’t offer the ability to order ahead if you can’t support it.
Visited Barrelista on Mother's Day. We ordered 2-iced coffees 1-salmon bagel 1-panino Florentino w/ pesto tomato egg whites nothing special. Totaled $49 dollars! This place is way overpriced the prices aren't even on the menu the panini was burnt. I do not recommend this place at all this place it seems super shady with not one item priced on their menu?? Starbucks is on the next block, go there! More affordable price points and the food is at least descent.
I've been coming here for years and service just gets worse. The line is always long because the register barista cares more about checking their phone or chatting with coworkers than handling customers. They often leave food in the warming oven until it's over crispy, bordering on burnt. There's no connection anymore, no more interaction. It takes half an hour for 3 or 4 people to get through the line, and another wait to get your drink. Best of luck if you ordered food. I loved this place once. I can barely stand to go in anymore.
