If only we could give it six stars! This family-run restaurant is simply elegant and welcoming. The menu reflects Piedmontese tradition, and we had a divine lunch. The veal with tuna sauce "vegetarian style" is truly memorable, as are the melt-in-your-mouth ribs. The staff is incredibly friendly, and we'll definitely be back. Thank you!
I had the pleasure of having breakfast and lunch in this excellent place, where I felt welcomed and had the pleasure of meeting the delightful family that makes this place special. The place is clean, well-kept and has style. Arranged on two levels with a nice balance of wood and glass, with a rustic but refined character, as are the dishes that are offered. The service is attentive and precise, the dishes are made with love and skill, very balanced and beautiful to look at. The bread was delicious, the wine selection was good (which I didn't taste but I noticed the bottles offered at the nearby tables).
Delicious food, great bread, excellent staff and very service oriented restaurant. We loved the Vitello tonato and the pastas were great. The service is spotless. Totally recommended.
Are there no more stars to give??? An osteria where you feel at home. The key words are quality, quality ingredients, kindness, and friendliness, in short: family. Extraordinary menu, small, intimate atmosphere, specifically designed to have just a few tables and allow time to care for customers. Carlo, Roberta, and Matteo, thank you for making us feel at home. We met you yesterday and already long to come back to greet you.
Despite appearances, this is a very sophisticated restaurant - tavern - wine bar. The welcome is excellent for a Sunday lunch on the go. Mergozzo is a small town on the shores of the lake of the same name, and the restaurant is located at the entrance, slightly away from the square where there's a 500-year-old elm tree. The pasta dishes are excellent. We haven't tried the appetizers or main courses. They offer a free dessert of the day. Prices are high, but the cuisine is expertly crafted and flavorful. If you're not worried about spending money, give it a try.
Amazing food, fantastic wine and gracious host. They even offered a home made butter to please my bambini. Simple worth the visit if you are in the area.
"Since we must eat to live, we might as well do it with grace and taste." And here we did just that, in every way. At Grotto la Dispensa, I found heart, soul, and expert attention from the plate to the service, for a true culinary experience that's simple, well-executed, never banal, and always delicious. This month's wine list? Incredible, a very narrow selection of great wines that hit the mark, showcasing interesting products. The extra edge? The people: meeting those who truly live their place leaves you with wonderful memories, even better than the splendid dessert.
I usually do a little research on the place before going, but not too much... I leave things to surprises 😀 I have to say that in this place the photos of the dishes on their website are "honest" they are exactly like that, in presentation, in taste, everything you expect from each dish is found and even more. The berry parfait offered at the end of the meal is also very delicate, well balanced so as to enhance the flavor of the berries. The owners are friendly, the young man who served us very professional, attentive to every detail. The well-furnished room, the commendable choice that can only bring a positive review, that of changing the works hanging on the walls every three months, is commendable and can only bring a positive review. Currently they are by the artist Francesca Scesa, I greatly appreciate them, her "threads," her colors, make it pleasant to lose yourself in looking at the walls, while waiting for the right amount of food. Everything is clean and tidy, including the bathroom. Congratulations to everyone!
For poor Renzo Tramaglino, talking and recounting his life to the tavern keepers and inns he encountered in "The Betrothed" wasn't always a good thing; and Alessandro Manzoni almost seems to question the positive relationship between food and open dialogue. Fortunately, this isn't always the case: and it wasn't just a worthwhile experience to taste the Nero dei Nebrodi, a lean and truly flavorful suckling pig; but, before and afterward, it was interesting and delightful to chat with the owners, listening to them share their passion for food and cooking. Their restaurant is truly a grotto for refined connoisseurs; guests who want to enter a place that could be their own home, given the taste and effort put into its decor. The idea of offering patrons samples of butter and bread is a lovely one; or, at the end, offering them the dessert of the day. Just another way to encourage those who enter the "Grotto la dispensa" to linger a little longer, combining food and conviviality.
It's worth traveling miles to dine here. The restaurant is well-kept, clean, and modernly furnished. The menu is truly excellent, with delicious, gourmet dishes alongside more traditional classics. Top-quality ingredients. All paired with wines carefully selected periodically by the restaurant's managers. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The staff is welcoming, helpful, and engaging. A must-try.
A welcoming place, refined in its simplicity. Hospitality: kindness and helpfulness are the order of the day. Excellent cuisine, for those who love to eat well—in fact, very well—and you'll certainly not be hungry by the end of the meal. The dishes are meticulously prepared, from the cooking to the ingredients, all of remarkable quality, to the temperature. Try to spot the details (various spices and herbs) and you'll be surprised by how well they're used, so refined. Both meat and fish are extremely fresh. The relatively limited menu choices (a wise decision) allow everything to remain excellent. Dare to try the "king's snack"!! If they even made the bread themselves, the rating would go from excellent to divine.
We experienced outstanding service and a lovely meal. The wine list varied and interesting. Great experience!

Just what we wanted. Small menu all in Italian. We thought „good luck“ Good wine and good food. Not the cheapest but a little better than normal. The lady that served us made a great impression. The guy that set our table in Nike t-Shirt didn’t give us a great feeling to start with. But all in all we were happy. Dishes costing from 14-22€ - 2 adults with a main 2 children 7&9 years old with spaghetti + bottle of good wine and water €70
Totale:40€. Come?
Higher expectations based on reviews and photos, the menu did not have a varied or inviting choice as in the photos, the NY sirloin steak was raw inside and very salty, the state of doneness was not asked when ordered and 35 euros per dish is a price where you do not expect to send the dish back to the kitchen, the mediocre pinsa 12 euros and 8 euros cover charge for 2 no discount applied 105 euros total disappointing
A great restaurant in itself, but quite overpriced. There were two adults and three children, and we paid almost €100. And we didn't have an appetizer or dessert. Even our children weren't full with a regular portion. The waitress only spoke Italian, and the menu was only available in Italian via QR code. The owner spoke German, but didn't think it necessary to help the waitress when we had a question. The ambiance was really great, but the service and prices were a flop.
Very loud, staff not very friendly. The fish was undercooked en still RAW. We never saw the promised vegetables. The boss only takes attentiion to locals. Expensive and not a good atmosphere.
La sorpresa all'arrivo.
