Wish I can take this bar and the amazing staff and take it back to Cleveland,Ohio with me!!! This place was the best host to us for the weekend. The owner is from Kirtland,Ohio and gave us great conversation on life back home in Ohio. The food...well...Im still drooling. I got the roasted garlic wings and Pub chips Saturday night and got the breakfast croissant Sunday before the Bears vs Browns game.

Can attest this place is a hidden gem on the Michigan South Loop in Chicago. Service was very friendly. I heard their burgers were great, and attracted me here. I had The Bacon Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. One of the best bar style meals I've had. Come here if you are on this side of Chicago.

I need to adddd my review cause 😮‍💨 that burger was the BEST beef burger I ever had from a restaurant! Nbs I couldn’t eat beef for more than 15 years and finally been able to eat beef these last couple years and every burger I had was disgustingggg! I meannn EEEEEYUCKKK! Until I came here last month 😍 I built my own burger and I promise you every last bite was MAGICALLY DELICIOUS!!! 😮‍💨 thank you for great service too! I had no complaints with our waiter either 🥰🫶🏼 keep doing yall thanggggg up there

Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a minute. Kevin went above & beyond from the moment we sat down. super attentive, always checking in on us at the perfect times, && actually cared that everything came out right, you don’t see that often anymore. i built my own custom burger & it came out phenomenal. exactly how I pictured it. the lady had the Mac Daddy & that thing was straight fire. && don’t get me started on the parm fries… top tier, especially with that sauce. The buffalo wings was fore too, has a little kick too it.🔥 Kevin, you made the whole experience 10x better. Give this man a raise.

The wings were great. The impossible burger was okay. The service was excellent. The bar was too bright for a night time dive bar. Everything else was pretty okay. I would still eat here again.

The bison burger was delicious and they have a very large selection of brew on tap. Great atmosphere and I especially love their windows that open the entire wall next to the sidewalk.

My fiance and I took a trip to Downton Chicago along with Shedd Aquarium. The Burger Bar had excellent reviews and wasn't a far stroll so we went for it. Let me tell you---- I used to be a vegetarian a few years ago, and visiting The Burger Bar on Michigan Avenue makes me proud to eat meat! I also enjoy that even if I was a vegetarian, this restaurant was more than willing to make any accomodations we needed. It takes a lot to get my hubby to go out to new places due to previous bad experiences, but he said it was one of the best meals ever! We both really appreciated the attention to detail in presentation of our meal, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and our server was absolutely a gem! I am not good with names, but I hope she knows that we adored her customer service and her work ethic. Will definitely be visiting again ❤️

had the vegetarian option- the Farmhouse Stacker with plant-based meat. It was truly delicious! My husband, however, preferred the Prime Burger and didn’t enjoy mine as much since he was craving real meat. But I loved mine! The atmosphere was lovely too!

Our burgers were cooked perfectly! They did such an excellent job! I got the urban burger & my hubby got the bacon cheeseburger. We asked for medium rare and they were perfect! The fries & sweet potato fries were also delicious! The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. They are paperless; so there is a QR code for the menu at your table. We didn't realize this and asked for menus. 🤦‍♀️ The waitress was super sweet when letting us know. 😊Thanks for a wonderful meal!!

Fantastic burger restaurant in Chicago with a lively pub atmosphere. The food was outstanding, with each dish offering a unique and special taste. The charcoal-grilled chicken wings with Tabasco are a must-try. The Chicago Handshake is a unique cocktail that you should definitely enjoy. The Reuben pastrami sandwich is their specialty. I’m sure they will serve it at any sitting, regardless of the meal.

We came here as we were staying just down the block. I would recommend a reservation if you are going during busy times. They have a really good menu. I had a bacon burger. It was a hand pattied burger that had a lot of flavor and was cooked perfect. My wife had the same experience with her burger. We got a side of onion crisps that were a little cold when we got them, but they were still good. My son had a grilled cheese that he enjoyed the sandwich. The fries were drastically overcooked to the point they didn't taste like fries anymore as the potato was all cooked out of them. The staff that was waiting on us, were getting slammed, yet they took care of the customers despite being slammed and checked in as often as was possible. I really give them credit for doing a great job. Overall the food had a few problems, but it still was a great experience. The burger was great and not something you get at most places. I guess you should expect that when a place is called the burger bar.

Man oh man, my time spent at Chicago Burger Bar can’t be described as nothing less than pleasant. When we asked for them to turn down the music they were incredibly receptive and kind about it. Our waiter Kevin, was incredibly friendly and helped me navigate finding gluten free items on the menu. I ordered the Hot and Smoky and boy was it juicy. I recommend if you like multiple different juicy meats on your burger. My only qualm was that I spilled some ketchup near my crotch (see below). I hypothesize that the viscosity of the ketchup may have been altered do to the lack of a cap on the container resulting in more oily consistency. However it is also entirely possible that I’m just clumsy son of a gun. Regardless, I wouldn’t change my time here for the world. Tasty food, nice people, and plenty of laughs with the family.

We popped in for lunch with a big group. The bartender/server was very nice and accommodating. Food was excellent, well made and prepared to order. They were really understaffed and everyone in there was hustling as the place got busier and busier - there were longer waits for service but it was understandable. I'd definitely return.

Food was decent. I got to recommended options, deviled eggs, and wings and they didn’t blow it out of the water for me. Bartender was amazing and the place was a great option for sports.

Came alone on vacation. Burger and fried pickles were great. Oreo milkshake did not taste right, something was off; I could not figure it out. The owner was very friendly (I believe he was the owner) the bartender-I sat at the bar- not so much.

NOAH was my server! He was very nice & knowledgeable of the menu. He answered my questions regarding the burgers very precisely. I got the urban diner stacker (because I love a good burger with a fried egg)! The bun was very soft which I loved. I got tots on the side. Any bar that had Tots is a good place to me. This was a nice place to stop by in downtown Chicago.

Very good burgers including some vegetarian options. Great place to stop if you’re going to any of the museums. Good beer selection (though I don’t drink it) plenty of other drink options. Service can be slow as they are often short handed but they are always pleasant and last time we went we didn’t wait long for a table and Carmen our server was terrific. Music is a little loud but good.

Racist BAR TENDER. I began coming to this bar post Covid. Yesterday, I came into the bar. They were busy after the Chicago Marathon. I sat at an empty seat sampled a beer, before this bar tender asked me to show him my ID. I didnt have it and it was wayyyy too busy to stay. I understood and left; however, when I asked other patrons if they were carded they said no. The following day I returned, hoping not to see the same bartender. The first thing he said to me was, “I hope you brought your ID today.” I said I did. Now, right before this interaction, two white men came in after me. He greeted them and served them beers without asking for any identification. When he finally came to service me, I asked him why he wanted to see my ID and did not ask the other two gentlemen for theirs??? He laughed it off, so I asked him again, “what is the difference between myself and the other two men? We are both in our 30’s. So, why didn’t you ask them?” I later learned that the two gentlemen were visiting Chicago. He was unfamiliar with them. He said, “it’s normal for a bartender to ask for an ID.” I said, “you’re right but what’s different between myself and them.” He chuckled and said, “Next time you won’t be carded at least by me.” I did not have an issue with being carded, but the inconsistencies between enforcing this rule. If you are coming for food, it’s delicious but beware of this bartender. Bailey and the other staff are amazing. Super welcoming and delightful.

I visited Burger Bar Chicago for lunch this past Sunday, August 31, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We checked in with the manager, gave him our name and phone number, and he said he’d call us when our table was ready — quoting about 30 minutes. After 45 minutes of waiting, I decided to call the restaurant and walk back, only to find out that our table had been ready for a while. The manager admitted he couldn’t even read his own handwriting and had failed to contact us. Once seated, things went downhill. Our server greeted us with a rude attitude and zero patience, especially when we mentioned we had a flight to catch and needed to order quickly. Despite putting in our orders right away, 30 minutes passed with no food in sight. When we asked the server for an update, he said it would be another 10–15 minutes. 45 minutes later — still no food. At the 50-minute mark, I approached the manager, who went to the back and finally returned 10 minutes later with our entrees. At no point were we informed that the kitchen was severely behind, which would have allowed us to make an informed decision. The manager’s demeanor when we expressed our frustration was dismissive and unhelpful. While he did end up comping the meals, the overall service was chaotic, slow, and poorly managed. To make matters worse: • My fountain drink didn’t arrive until the food came out. • Our server never checked in on us after taking the order. • Nearby tables were also frustrated — the one next to us had been waiting just as long, and another table only had drinks after an extended wait. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Chicago. Between the mismanaged waitlist, poor communication, and lack of attentiveness, I cannot recommend this location.
