I love this healthy fast food restaurant. It is so close to where I swim laps. It is also next to a popular restaurant that I used to go to(Everyday Eatery) who got rid of their vegan options (what shame!) so I didn't go back to that restaurant nor this shopping center. Wow, now Sajj will be my favorite place to go to, here. It is a 'Chipotle' style for Mediterranean food. I know it is a fast food but it is much healthier than most. There are lots of vegan options(marked with a 'V'). A bowl with rice or salad, a wrap, or a pita sandwich is the option for vegans, with Falafels. The price is $11.75 for any of the style. I picked vegan bowl with rice then add eggplant ragout, sumac cauliflower, hummus, cucumbers tomatoes mix, cherry peppers mix, lettuce, and spicy tahini sauce on top. One can add many more from the table that is marked with a 'V' and there are a lot. The rice was tumeric rice. I sprinkled some sumac on top. The lentil soup is included with it. For $11.75 it is a huge deal! I could not finish this bowl as it is a lot of food. There were 4 falafels! These falafels are one of the best I have tried. Unfortunately there is only 1 in SoCal. It is a fast food chain or franchise restaurant and started in Northern California. We need more! Thank you so much for providing so many vegan options. My recommendation is not to go during meal times as it can be crowded. The line never stopped when I was there. It is so popular. The parking can be hard to get too during meal times too. So after 1 pm would be best.
SAJJ in Irvine is the place to go for healthy Mediterranean food, they are a farm to table create your own bowl/wrap/pita restaurant. The produce is sourced locally and the halal proteins are free of antibiotics and hormones. This healthy restaurant is not the, if it’s healthy it doesn’t taste good, place. Their food is delicious and full of so many flavors and spices that takes your taste bud on a journey! You have a choice between pita bread, wrap or bowl. Once you decide on your base you can start filling with proteins such as pomegranate chicken, falafel, or chicken/steak shawarma. Next comes your toppings! Examples include eggplant ragout, sumac cauliflower or onions, diced beets and avocado. Then get a squeeze of your sauce choice such as spicy tahini or balsamic vinaigrette. You really cannot go wrong! Their portions are so generous! Their sauces are delicious and their drinks so fun including my choice mint lemonade. So good! And don’t forget to have a sweet to end your meal including chocolate hummus, baklava or a cookie! The restaurant is clean and there is plenty of parking nearby.
📍SAJJ @sajjstreeteats 6636 Irvine Center Dr, Irvine, CA 92618 Event by Yelp. Was invited to try SAJJ Mediterranean by Yelp and it was amazing!!! I got the chicken bowl with all the fixings, the chicken was very good and tender. The condiments were delicious and paired with the chicken and rose very nicely. I highly recommend SAJJ Mediterranean if you are in the area. They offer bowls, plates, wraps, salads. If you are interested in becoming an Yelp Elite and want to benefit by enjoying amazing food and trying new restaurants check them out.
Recently tried Sajj Mediterranean, greatly enjoyed their food. Located across the Irvine business center, the restaurant offered ample parking. The ordering process was similar to popular fast-food chains like Chipotle and Subway, allowing you to select your desired base, protein, vegetables, toppings, and sauce. I opted for the steak rice bowl, and it did not disappoint. I never had any steak like this before. It was cooked to perfection and marinated with a flavorful sauce that makes me yearning for more. The turmeric rice was beautifully seasoned and gave the dish a bold pop of color. The toppings were diverse and elevated, with the cauliflower and eggplant providing a delightful surprise in every bite. The hummus, garlic spread, and tzatziki sauce were all divine and added an extra layer of flavor and creaminess to the meal. Move aside Chipotle, Sajj is gonna a new favorite. My server was friendly and patient, taking the time to explain the various toppings and sauces available. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Sajj and I look forward to coming back!
First time here although I’ve been living in Irvine since 2016. Got the falafel bowl and it was great! Very similar concept to Cava in that you basically create your own bowl. Nice large falafels and not too crunchy / overfried. Will definitely be back! Only thing about this place is they close super early and they aren’t open everyday which is why it took me so long to try this place.
Really fresh colorful flavorful veggie options. Kind helpful service. Very clean in-store dining. The couscous makes a perfect salad with all the fixings! Delicious 😋
I love this spot. Very generous servings. Fresh and flavorful. Friendly service. The lentil soup was complimentary this time, I don’t know if that’s a regular thing.
I got one of their chicken bowls and was not disappointed by the taste and the quantity of food I received. My co worker brought me here for a team outing and it was just an overall good experience with all the shops and just atmosphere of corporate tech Irvine. I'm definitely coming back to not just Sajj but all the other restaurants nearby.
Amazing build-your-own food restaurant. Staffs are friendly. Restaurant is clean and food was tasty as well.
It's a simple menu, but there is a ton of variety with food choices. This has become our go-to lunch place whenever we're in the mood for something healthy. The food is delicious, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is great. We often see the same staff every time we come and they are always attentive, friendly and professional. SAJJ is especially great if you're vegan or vegetarian as it's way more than just a salad, there's so many options you can choose that you can have something different every time you come. I also like that you get a lentil soup with your meal too. Such a great added bonus. The portions are generous, and I often get filled up. If you come during the peak lunch rush, expect to wait a little and you may not find a table. But the line moves quickly and there's plenty of public seating around the restaurant as well. Signing up for the app got us occasional discounts so you may want to check that out, and we always return regularly, but especially when there's a promotion. Enjoy healthy eating!
Many gluten free options here. I like a bowl with salad and rice with pomegranate chicken with many toppings. Comes with a free lentil soup.
Organic fresh and healthy and very delicious, big portions and you can customize your meals to your liking. Fast service and friendly staff. Tamarind juice was a nice addition to have and it was refreshing
Fast, efficient service with 2 meat options within chicken besides others. The pomegranate chicken is our favorite. You can mix and match the options including pita or bowls or rice. Plenty of sides and flavors. We like their spices. Staff is very friendly. Every order comes with a side of lentil soup at no cost. Good options of falafel and pita bites for kids. Good place for lunch. All options halal.
I work near here and order lunch here fairly regularly. The food is always good. I always get a bowl and usually steak. I’ve never had a bad bowl. I’ve had the falafel too and it was good-not too greasy or dry. Service is always good-nothing fancy but nice.
I love the build your own option. You can select your base, protein, veggie add ons (warm and cold), sauces etc. they also give a complimentary lentil soup with the bowl. Everything is always very delicious and the staff is always friendly.
Love this place. Good portions, fresh and filling food. The lentil soup is wonderful, as are the fries and falafel. Another place I happened in when the place was intending to go was closed. I now make it a point to get takeout or delivery and it's always great. Very friendly and helpful staff when I first visited and great options. Tumeric rice, falafel, chickpeas, fries, soup, it's all excellent! And very fair price (cheaper than other similar style restaurants). Highly recommended for a filling and healthy meal.
The food is so fresh and tasty. Every mouthful has so many textures and flavors. Giant portion! Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and they love their product! Great healthy food.
Great food for vegans and non-vegans alike. Rare to find pickled turnips and pickles with eggplant for your sandwich. Super service. Clean bathrooms.
Must try if you are a fan of Mediterranean food! A ready-to-go/build-your-own style restaurant with a great vegetarian selection and the freshest ingredients. You can customize your own bowls, sajj wraps or pita sandwiches. Plus, the order comes with a bowl of lentils soup. A friend of mine who is a regular customer here recommended this place to me. Count me in as another regular going forward. Looking forward to try more!
Sajj is the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. Walk in, decide on a bowl or a bread, choose your meat, veggies, toppings and sides and bingo ! An amazing meal is ready. They serve a hearty lentil soup alongside that is so similar to the Indian masoor dal and a yummy addition. Fast service, relaxed ambience and tasty food.
I pescatarian. I don’t eat meat. And I never liked falafel , that’s why I used to eat Mediterranean food once a year. This place taught me to love this cousin. I come here 2-3 times a week so is my husband, and so are all the friends who I told about SAJJ. Everything is fresh, stuff is the friendliest people. Music is always great - modern mix-s. What stands out is that usually falafel could be confused with rocks that accidentally got into the plate, in SAJJ it’s softer and edible lol. Soup on the side is 💯!! Prices are great too!! My only wishes so that they add some fish options Or maybe falafel made in a slower cooker without frying and oil. And maybe gluten-free pita bread options to add more healthier options.
Sajj Mediterranean in Mountain View truly lives up to the hype. I had the pleasure of trying their Pomegranate Chicken and it was a delightful burst of flavors, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The accompanying lentil soup was a warm, comforting touch that added depth to the meal. What stood out the most, though, was their impeccable customer service, making the entire dining experience memorable. Highly recommended for those seeking an authentic Mediterranean experience!
SAJJ offers a refreshing take on Mediterranean cuisine, adopting the popular ordering style of Chipotle. During my visit, I opted for the chicken shawarma salad bowl, complemented by flavorsome ingredients like cauliflower, pickled cabbage, beets, pickled onions, and tahini. The freshness of the ingredients truly stood out, and each bite was a delightful burst of flavors. The service at SAJJ was efficient, and the staff members were welcoming and amiable. The clean and inviting ambiance added to the overall dining experience. For those seeking a fast and nutritious meal, SAJJ is an excellent choice. The quick service ensures you won't have to wait long, making it perfect for those on a tight schedule. Moreover, the emphasis on using fresh ingredients guarantees a healthy and satisfying meal. I wholeheartedly recommend SAJJ to anyone in search of a convenient and flavorsome Mediterranean dining option.
The restaurant was clean, ingredients were fresh, and the employees were friendly and helpful. The lentil soup was absolutely delicious and the fries were hot and crispy. Had the chicken shawarma rice bowl with a variety of toppings. Nice selection of veggies and sauces. Highly recommend if looking for a Mediterranean alternative to Chipotle.
Delicious “counter serve” Mediterranean restaurant with quick service, delicious bowls and wraps, a easy to follow menu, and friendly faces. The food is made in front of you similar to chipotle, so you can eat quickly if you’re in a rush. The food was DELICIOUS and they let you customize your plate to your liking. Also, much of their food is sourced from local farms in Northern California and reflects the high quality. They added a lentil soup with both of our orders too which was really nice! They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is easy to find. They have restrooms for customers. There is high chairs for children. They don’t seem overly busy and it’s easy to find since it’s right on el Camino! They do catering at well! Plan to spend around 30-40 minutes here and spend around 15$ per person!
Finally!!! Excellent authentic wonderfully well done Mediterranean in Silicon Valley. I haven’t eaten here in a couple of year and I went back today. Every bite a home-run. The garlic sauce,,,. Oh my :) rendering Los Altos a vampire-free zone. Soft eggplants, freekah bowls, juicy chicken, fast friendly service, love this place and you will too.

I've been looking for a go-to spot for a quick and healthy lunch, and this place really hits the mark. It's got that clean, modern vibe without feeling too cold, and it’s always bustling, which is a good sign. The whole "build-your-own-bowl" concept is super efficient and lets you get exactly what you want. The ingredients all look and taste incredibly fresh. My usual go-to is a base of yellow rice with chicken. The chicken is juicy and the falafel has that perfect crispy outside and soft inside. I'm a big fan of their hummus and the pickled onions; they add a nice tangy kick that cuts through the richness. The staff was friendly and patient as you make your way down the line. It's a great place to grab something to-go, but there's also plenty of seating if you want to hang out. It's not a fancy dinner spot, but for a casual, delicious meal that feels good to eat, I highly recommend it. It's a solid choice for a satisfying and healthy lunch or dinner.
This chain food place is very similar to the way Chipotle is set up, but they serve Mediterranean food. I had gotten a chicken shawarma bowl with turmeric rice, tzatziki, garlic spread, tomato cucumber mix, diced pickles, onions, cherry peppers, tahini sauce and the lentil soup cup. The lentil soup cup was a hearty addition to the meal. It was really delicious, and I greatly enjoyed it. The shawarma bowl was also pretty tasty. I really liked it. The serving portions are generous, and I definitely appreciate that. I had ordered my food towards the end of the night about half an hour before they closed. They weren't particularly busy, but the staff that was there was really nice. The location itself looked pretty clean. This is my first time trying SAJJ, but I'm very satisfied. They did have a few people go in and out for pickups for mobile orders like me. They get orders prepped and ready in a timely manner; my food was ready before the time that was specified on the pickup time in the app.
The chipotle of Mediterranean food! Come here for quick, assembly line style middle eastern meals. You get to choose from a few types of rice, bulgur and couscous, a few types of protein (lamb, chicken, falafel etc which are all halal as the server mentioned), some really good salads and sauces. They come with lentil soup and fresh warm pita. I tried the lamb and it was really delicious. Would love to try other combos as well.
Came here at a super off peak time. No one was there, friendly staff. The place looks spacious and clean. The food was out displayed so I was able to pick what I wanted. Unfortunately, the food was a hit and miss. The lentil soup was delicious. But the chicken pita was meh. The sauce was great. The hummus was great. The chicken didn't have much flavor and it was cold. Also the pita bread itself was cold and hard so the entire pita wrap definitely isn't want the quality I'm accustomed to. My kid ordered mac and cheese. She took a couple bites and didn't like it. She said it tasted weird. But the pita chips that came with the mac & cheese.... omg, those were awesome. So it's really a hit and miss.
We've been going to Saaj since they first opened, but lately, the experience hasn't been as good. The good points: They usually serve fresh vegetables and healthy food, making it a nice spot for a quick lunch or dinner. The not-so-good points: Recently, the chicken shawarma has been too oily, and the cauliflower is also greasy, which makes the salad bowl feel heavier than it should be. The kids' mac and cheese, which is a frozen Kraft pack, was a bit undercooked, though the kids still like it. They also removed the fountain sodas, which seems to be a trend in fast food places. Overall, we'll give it another one or two tries before deciding if we'll stop going there.
We ordered take out. Everything seemed fine, but when we started eating it became clear the food wasn't what we expected: it was very over-dressed, too oily, and not as spicy as we expected from the "spicy tahini". Flavors we're pretty good, ingredients tastes fresh. It was just way too wet and oily for us, and therefore not worth $20 each.
These wheet balls are not CousCous!!! Couscous are small yellow grains… You specifically mention the piripiri sauce on the side: why do you put it on the food?
Posting this review after submitting a feedback on their website, giving them over 2 weeks to respond, and not having heard back from them. This place is generally okay, but our recent visit was not. We visited this place around 8:45pm on 9/9/22 to get two wraps and one bowl to take with us to-go. The wraps and the bowl were both made in front of us. Upon arriving home and after a couple of bites into the wrap, we discovered a long packaging plastic piece in the wrap. We are assuming this may have been present in either the meat or one of the toppings like yogurt sauce or guacamole. We ended up throwing away both wraps. We provided them private feedback through their website so they can be more cautious with plastic packaging in their kitchen. Since we did not hear from them, we have low confidence and will be avoiding this place. Be careful when eating their wraps!
