Good halal Chinese food. It can get very crowded over the weekends, but there's usually no reservation needed. We tried a few dishes, our favourite 2 dishes so far is the chilli chicken, and the 3 flavor hot noodle soup (#14 - w/ knife cut noodles).

Love their green onion bread, hand cut noodles, eggplant with brown sauce, fish fillet, cumin lamb was all a hit. Wish there was a local branch in the San Mateo area!

Extensive menu. Including food from Northern provinces such as Xinjang and Hunan, different from the typical Southern Chinese takeaway common in America. Big portion. We like the Xinjiang chicken, Hot and sour soup which is Sichuan flavor. The first photo was seafood from Chile I posted wrong but couldn't take it off

i’m sorry but the house made noodles and green onion bread are things i hope to have catered at my wedding.. even as takeout - YUM! also i’ve had some of their lamb dishes before- sUPER YUM!

This has been one of our favorites for many many years. We made friends with many of their staff members over the years. Our go-to dishes are Sesame Green Onion Bread (both thick and thin versions are great), Dumplings, Braised Beef with Leek (2nd picture), Beef with Sliced Noodle Soup, and Variety Fried Sliced Noodle. During Covid we ordered take-out on a weekly basis. So glad we were able to dine in last Sunday. Great to see our friends there and our kids loved having extra fortune cookies from the staff! (Next time I’ll make sure I take better photos.)

Overall great restaraunt with amazing service for an affordable price. The beef chow mein was delicious, and I’m glad I was able to have food I haven’t had in a long time since it was Halal. Would reccomend.

Food was very good, fast and efficient service like in most Chinese restaurants. They had some very hard to find Chinese dishes (outside of China) quantity was very good too. Halal signs posted in and out.

Love that it's halal. Though our favourite was the aubergine 🍆 The bread is also a speciality.

Food was really delicious. I’d recommend the house made noodles vs the factory made noodles for the chow Leon or beef noodle soup. We tried both noodles and the home made noodles were tastier. The orange chicken and Mongolian beef was delicious. Beef noodle soup reminded me of Taipei, almost as delicious. Fried rice was okay… Service was pretty good.

Update: the spicy chili chicken is super spicy, as in, it comes with red chillies and peppercorns. The cumin lamb was delicious and perfectly spiced. A gem of a place in the bay! Extremely popular as one can see from the large number of guests and some amount of wait time, even though the service is quick and they serve you quite fast. The best part is that it’s halal! Strongly recommend the following items - noting that portion sizes are large and each item can serve upto 3 very hungry people: 1. Sesame bread - thick one with garlic and scallions - soft, pillowy bread served warm and best had with the saucy stir fries or on its own. 2. Spicy Hunan beef - soft, spicy beef pieces stir fried in vegetables and a nice sauce. 3. Hand cut chicken noodles - tasty, warm noodles stir fried in veggies and chicken - mildly spicy 4. Crispy roasted duck - this was a new item for me - the meat had a gamey taste and was darker than chicken. Served with crackers though I wish they gave a coleslaw or some other sauce to go with it. Keen to come back and try other items. It seems to be a local favorite. They also serve a warm tea (not sure if black or green) which helps digest the meal.

The food here was delicious! I had the spicy lamb and the chicken fried rice, and they automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill. The service was decent considering how busy this place was. The place is pretty big and clean. They have a private room for parties near the restroom. There's parking available, but can get packed since there are many other shops in the plaza.

After a couple of decades, shangdong halal resto still serves proper Chinese sesame 烧饼(pancake) all other dishes were properly prepared with ingredients carefully selected. Enjoyed!

Tastiest Chinese food anywhere in the Bay Area! We first discovered this place back in 2000 and were regulars here forever. We went back today after a long hiatus and the place still rocks! Highly recommend the chicken in chili sauce, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The food here was REALLY delicious. Service was fast and the quality of the food was really high. I would have liked the ability to reserve a space for a larger party but their private room maxes out at 10. All in all .. hight recommend and will definitely go again.

I had an amazing experience at this Chinese halal restaurant! Despite being a busy place, the service was impressively quick, and the food was absolutely delicious. I can't recommend it enough! This is our goto Chinese food place and my family absolutely loves going here. They now include mandatory 15% service charge to the bill regardless of party size.

Ate outside my comfort zone at a Chinese restaurant since it was halal, so I got the shrimp with walnut, beef/Oz plate, the salt and pepper fish and chicken chowmein.

Don't let the atmosphere fool you and you won't feel any warmth from the servers but you're here for the food. Everything came fast and tasty. The dishes look the same but they all taste very different from one another. The bread with sesame seeds is wow

Massive portions! Food is also pretty well done, maybe not the highest quality ever, but definitely the biggest portions I’ve ever had. I really liked the Green Onion and Beef Stir Fry, while the Fish fillet in the spicy sczheuan sauce was too watery, but there was so much leftover to take home, I’ll just fix it up for myself then and add corn starch. The sesame green onion bread was also a bit dry and could have used more green onion. Anyways, it’s a solid, affordable restaurant for large groups when you are looking for traditional Chinese food!

I went to Darada Restaurant with my family for a dinner and the food was amazing and we liked it so much. I highly recommend the thick sesame bread, it’s so crispy and crunchy from the outside and you actually you can eat it with all other dishes that you order instead of rice. The cumin lamb was very delicious but it’s very spicy hot, the lamb was thinly sliced and has onion, bell peppers and scallions.

I've visited this place several times with my colleagues for their lunch specials during office hours, and it never disappoints. The service is fast, and the food is consistently great. I've also brought my family here and ordered takeout multiple times—the service remains efficient, and the ambiance is pleasant. Sweet Corn Soup – 5/5 Noodles – 5/5 Kung Pao Chicken – 5/5 Sesame Bread (Thick) – 2/5 Thin Bread – 5/5 We didn’t enjoy the thick sesame bread as much—it was quite dry and dense, though we ordered it after seeing others try it. However, everything else was fantastic. This has become my go-to spot whenever I’m craving Chinese food!

Darda Seafood has flavorful dishes and is fairly spacious. My favorite here is the "Three Flavor Fried Rice", which was flavorful, oily, and had a slight chew to it. We ordered a few others like a saucy "Kung Pao Chicken", salty "Sliced Fish w/ Pepper and Salt", and a tender "Beef Chow Mein" and I was impressed with how quickly the dishes came out. (We were just 1 of 3 groups there at the time). Atmosphere to me felt like a traditional, family-catered Chinese restaurant. I would eat here again with large groups.

We came here for dinner and had an excellent meal. We’ve been coming here for over a decade, and the quality is consistently great every time. We ordered the three flavor home made chow mein, beef with green onions, cumin lamb, lamb with pickled cabbage warm pot, beef with pickled cabbage warm pot, bean curd casserole, black mushrooms with green cabbage, broccoli with oyster sauce, thin sesame bread with green onion, and thick sesame bread with green onion. Everything we ordered was delicious, and we will definitely keep coming back when we’re in the Bay Area!

Came here in Milpitas after a meeting in San Jose on our way home around 6pm. There were already 5-6 tables taken out of around 20. It was rather cold treatment when I entered the restaurant while these two waitress and cashier continued to chat. After 2-3 minutes, I decided to ask if we could take the table by the window. Anyway, after we ordered the the 4 dishes, the waitress kindly suggested us to take the bigger table as it might not fit all of our orders. We followed her suggestion. The table was a bit wet with wiping smears left on it. I had to use napkins to clean it. Overall, including the bathroom, needed a better sanitizing situation. After this prelude, The rest was history. All 4 dishes were delicious - sesame pan cakes, fried onion lamb, spicy eggplants and mixed fried cut-noodles.

Wow this restaurant offers Korean style seafood noodle soup, aka Jjambbong! We loved this menu. However other menus such as broccoli beef and dumplings were not tasty. Will definitely come to have Jjambbong. Note that this is a Halal restaurant and the owner must be from Xinjiang Uyghur region in China. Dumplings were not made of pork but beef.

A unique product in bay area. Chinese Hui Muslim cuisine. A large menu. I have been coming here for seven years now and probably have tried more than 15 dishes now. The top four I recommend will give you a unique experience. First is the cumin lamb. Second is the snow peas garlic stir fried. Try their fresh steamed whole fish soy sauce ginger base. Fresh hand pulled noodle chow mein. Finally their beef noodle soup especially on a cold winter morning. The noodle soup has the common Chinese base with five spice. The tables are big for family gatherings. Cost is excellent and good value for money. Lots of parking inside a very large plaza with tons of Asian stores and market. This is a must try restaurant in bay area.

Darda is a good place that has solid food, good portions, and average service that is about as good as most Chinese Restaurants (average as in they make you feel a bit rushed and forget about them smiling at you). I’ve been coming here for years and the food has not changed at all - it’s still really good and if it were closer, I probably would make it my go to when I don’t want to cook. Get the homemade chow mein and sesame bread because it’s delicious carbo loading at its finest.

Delicious halal Chinese food. We’ve been going here for years and it’s been a staple in our family. Love the variety of dishes that they have, pretty sure there’s over a hundred dishes. Definitely try the Mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, Chili chicken, Cumin lamb, chow mein, orange chicken, and I always get honey walnut prawns whenever I get Chinese. The owner is a Chinese Muslim and there are pictures of the Kaaba, Madina, and Quran throughout the restaurant.

My first meal at Darda was 30 years ago and I frequented often. I don’t come as often nowadays but stopped by this weekend and it’s still as good as I remember! Note they don’t serve pork and I think they serve halal. And the portions are LARGE for the price compared to a lot of chinese restaurants. Braised beef noodle can come with thick round or flat rice noodles. I chose round but I think flat might be better next time. Beef was tasty but a few pieces were on the leaner side. Fish with snow peas and water cress was excellent. Fish clearly from frozen, not fresh, but still good. Favorite is the three flavor dried rice, which had chicken, beef, and shrimp. Very good!

Chinese Islamic restaurant with Chinese North Western cuisine. Good portions and reasonably priced for big family meals. Kinda wondering why they called it a seafood restaurant when their specialty dishes are mostly lamb based. They don't use a lot of msg, so no msg thirst after a whole bowl of soup.

Fun place to dine with friends. Portions are large and the food is tasty but very salty. The service wasn’t the warmest, but the food arrived fast and hot. Lots of options make it a great spot for a crowd. Many meat-free items. Our favorites were the Chow mein and green beans

The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The chicken chow mein and chestnut chicken with garlic sauce were both good, but they were missing something to really make the flavors pop. While the service was quick, it wasn't particularly friendly. The portion sizes, however, were perfect for two people.

Darda Seafood has always been one of my go-to spots for flavorful Chinese Islamic cuisine. The Cumin Lamb is absolutely incredible — tender, aromatic, and packed with bold spices. The Chili Chicken hits the perfect balance of heat and flavor, and the Three-Flavored Fried Rice is always a satisfying choice, loaded with a good mix of proteins and great texture. That said, I’ve noticed the menu prices have gone up quite a bit recently. While the food is still delicious, the cost increase makes it harder to visit as often. I hope the owners will consider revisiting the pricing it would go a long way in keeping loyal customers coming back regularly. Still a great spot overall, especially if you're craving something Halal Chinese food and well-spiced!

This place was recommended as the best place for hot noodle soup, the kind we Koreans crave after a drunken evening. I chose the seafood hot noodle soup (they have the same without the “hot”), and my friend chose a Three-Flavor Noodle Soup—no red soup base. They also provide two choices of noodles: long or cut. I opted for the cut noodle. I enjoyed the menu and will return to try the main dishes and dim sum soon. I highly recommend it.

The highlight for me was definitely the thick scallion pancake with extra scallions — this is a must-order! The outer layer is super crispy, and the inside is packed with rich scallion flavor, but without that doughy, undercooked texture some pancakes have. It’s perfectly balanced and easily my favorite of the meal. The Three Delicacies Knife-Cut Noodles were also really good — full of wok hei, with a flavorful broth, and the noodles had a great chewy texture. Very satisfying bowl overall. The rest were more on the average side: • Steamed dumplings: The wrapper was a bit thick for my taste. The filling was fine, nothing amazing but nothing terrible either. • Rice ball (fan tuan): A bit too rice-heavy and light on fillings. Not really my thing — I prefer more filling in every bite. • Fried dough with sesame flatbread (shaobing youtiao): Standard and cleanly made, but I personally like my shaobing crispier.

I may need to try different items to find flavor. The textures were nice but the combination of meat and bamboo shoots were just okay. We ordered chicken noodle soup, it needed more broth because there was a lot of fresh noodles. The noodles in the chow mein seemed to also overpower the 3-flavor sauce. The steamed dumplings were fine, I should have used a dipping sauce. Service is quick and efficient.

We visited Darda Seafood Restaurant in Santa Clara and spent the day there. We were a group of four and we ordered a family style meal. It included Kungpao chicken, beef Chow Mein, eggplant brown sauce, sesame bread with thick crust, and white rice. The meal came with hot tea. The service was basic and average. The food was good overall. My best dish was the sesame bread. It tasted delicious and could be taken with the main meal or between meals. The food came so fast. There was less than 10 minutes of wait time. The atmosphere was casual and I could see the supply room being used by the staff throughout my meal. Overall, yes I could go back. I think you’ll enjoy this place more if you go with a big group… 4 people or more. For 4 people, we spent $105, which is a very reasonable price per person.

Darda Seafood Restaurant is good food. The spicy garlic sauce on the shredded chicken is extremely hot and really good. The red chilis are not to be eaten, lol. But other than that, the food came out quickly. This was my first visit to Darda Seafood restaurant, and I plan to return again soon. This is a guys lunch spot, and everything is prepared Halal. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a good lunch spot with fast service.

I walked-in to place an order to go. I ordered Three Flavor fried rice. Was told, “CASH ONLY” and the bill was 16.35$ I remember seeing the price in the menu listed at 13.95$ when I asked the cashier how much was the fried rice, she said repeatedly “just look at paper” (shown here in the review) I’m not sure if I missed any sign that said “Tip is mandatory” for take-out, clearly I misunderstood how this restaurant charge for their take out meal. I don’t have a problem with paying for tips even for take out but transparency from the restuarant’s staff is highly needed. The food was bland, very minimal seasoning. Fresh ingredients and cooking techniques are the reason why they get 3 stars from me. If you prefer more flavorful dish don’t forget to ask for extra seasoning eg soy sauce, chili oil, etc

I recently discovered this restaurant. This is the second half Chinese restaurant I visited in the bay area. The food was good. Restaurant had a nice atmosphere. We were there on New year's Eve. So it was fully packed. Not sure if that is the case on every weekend. But food was tasty. The only reason I am giving three stars is their service. Service was not good at all. I need to call the waitress to take my order and then reminded again. They didn't server any water until we asked. And then they didn't bring any straws . they all looked so in rush that they were not paying attention and ignoring you. They ignored me couple of times and it was hard to catch one. I don't know why the halal places can't provide good services. If they improve the service I think it will be a very good place to visit occasionally. But like I said food was good. I ordered hot and sour soup , chicken with black beans and chicken fried rice.

We used to have a great experience at this restaurant until 2021 where we started noticing drastic changes. My entire extended family has been coming here for more than 25 years since we were never able find a better Halal Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. The food used to taste excellent and came out quick and fresh. Our standard orders are the Three-flavored Fried Rice, Three-flavored Chow Mein, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Beef Noodle Soup, Salt & Pepper Fish, Chili Chicken with Garlic, and Kung Pao Beef. During our last visit though, we found the food to be quite greasy and significantly less in quantity and quality. Furthermore, the waitress brought us an incorrect item that we didn’t order. When we kindly said this wasn’t our order, she kept insisting that nobody else ordered it but us; repeatedly trying to defend herself. She did eventually replace the item with what we ordered, but the whole scene was just embarrassing and such a mood spoiler given that the people around us could clearly hear her frustration on a fault that wasn’t ours. Later on, we noticed that our bill was higher than expected. We asked for the itemized receipt but they only gave us the receipt with the total amount. To our surprise, we found that the restaurant had added an 18% Service Charge to our bill without any notification. When confronted, the lady at the counter said that “DINE-IN” means an automatic 18% Service Fee is charged to the bill regardless of whether it is one person or ten people. Honestly speaking, our entire family thinks that their food quality and customer service is getting worse by day. On top of that, there is the default 18% Service Charge that makes us think twice before walking into the restaurant. If you plan to visit this place for dine in, please be aware that 18% of the total amount (including tax) is already added as a service charge as your bill, and that too for one of the worst services you will ever get at a restaurant. Good luck!

It’s all Halal. The lamb cucumber soup was not to my liking as it had too much lamb smell in it. Chicken cream corn soup was good. Mongolian beef was amazing. Lamb with green onions was average. Chicken with chili sauce was a disappointment; the fried chicken pieces were so tiny that it looked like it was just tempura batter and no chicken & there was no taste at all. Just because this place is Halal, I might try it again to try some new dishes. Otherwise, the service is as expected.

Ordered take out at 12:00 pm and only 2 soups and 2 thin parathas. Its been half an hour still waiting here. Soup is supposed to be always ready. Ive been coming for over a decade and this is worst service i had for picking up food. Maybe using doordash or uber eats is better to pickup food

Horrible food horrible service. As if they don't even care. Very rude attirude..it seems like they are all unhappy to work there. There is no concept of customer service. Taking order was like ok, don't care don't explain. Food was served in 3 minutes. No bowls for soup. No water. I asked to replace my sesame bread but the owner/Manager exceptionally rude.. did not bother to hear me out. Only customer eat and leave they don't care

1Star (once a 4Star) Darda Seafood Restaurant For decades, this restaurant was renowned for serving some of the best northern Chinese noodle soup in the area. Unfortunately, things have taken a dramatic turn for the worse. We ordered the beef noodle soup, a dish we’ve loved for years. To our dismay, it tasted like nothing more than soy sauce diluted with water—overly salty and utterly lacking in depth. There were no vegetables except a few green onions, and the beef, once tender and flavorful, was reduced to tiny, flavorless pieces measuring no more than ¾” x ½”. We also tried the once-famous Lamb with Green Onions, a dish that used to boast rich texture and flavor. Sadly, it had been shredded into dry, tasteless meat floss that bore no resemblance to the original dish. The Tea-Smoked Duck was another disappointment. It was extremely dry, difficult to chew, and filled with shards of bones, making it almost inedible. When we politely raised our concerns with the servers and hostess, we were met with dismissive attitudes and defensive rebuttals. They insisted that “no other customers complained,” leaving us feeling unwelcome and shocked by their arrogance. The overall service was unprofessional, careless, and riddled with bad attitudes. Combined with food that lacked freshness, flavor, and attention to detail, this experience was profoundly disappointing. We do not recommend this restaurant, and it’s heartbreaking to see a place with such a strong legacy fall so far from grace.
