I stopped by and ordered breakfast to go. I recommend the steel cut oatmeal. It was a hearty serving of oatmeal served with almond slices, brown sugar, dried fruit, and milk. I added an orange juice. A bit pricey at $13 for both, however the Gold Honors food credit offset it.

I've been coming here quite regularly for breakfast and am quite impressed with the quality of their service. Ella always greets and serves her customers with a smile which is a great way to start off your day!

Everything I've ordered is just the best it could be! Flavorful perfectly grilled burgers, fries that keep their crunch, buttery toasted bun, natural cheeses, and then the BACON!!

Swanky and naturally lit place with excellent bloodies, and variety of high end breakfast options - get the sausage!! Staff was welcoming and friendly.

Nice fish & chips plate with actual Cod (the real fish for fish and chips) although I recommend taking the cap off the cute vinegar spritzer and bathing it in vinegar for an authentic taste. Tasty drinks and carbonara as well.

I thought the menu was creative, especially if you're vegetarian. The sweet potato burger was delicious. Nice atmosphere, and chill vibe on a Thursday evening.

Felt like I was back in the student union, circa 1982, with table service and good beer..

The omelet was fluffy and delicious. Hsshbrowns were good. Toast is served dry, nothing offered for toast. Eggs Benedict was delicious. Service was very good. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Coffee with Baileys and others breakfast cocktails offered here.

I visited here with a family member early one Sunday morning for breakfast. I was initially worried about the food because there was only one other table with people seated. However, the food was great. I had scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and cranberry chicken sausage. It was very tasty, well prepared and plenty to eat. The other person with me had Eggs Benedict and she said it was great, though it was her first time eating Eggs Benedict. I would classify this as a fancy ($$-$$$) breakfast since it was over $20 before tip for two people. However, the food and service were up to par. I would eat here again.

Service is second to none. Bartender for Super Bowl made excellent drinks. Everyone who works there was very nice.

Food and service was awesome we will be back.

The Graduate hotel and the Beacon Public House are open and safe as of today, Feb 3, 2026. Don’t let the Nazis keep you from coming out for dinner. Kirsten was friendly and kind, and the camper’s walleye with rice pilaf was delicious. I had a peaceful check in and dinner at the hotel.

I frequently go to the Beacon Public House and I'm always impressed with a worker named Maleeya. She truly understands what customer service means. She is very pleasant to talk to you and has a fantastic attitude. As a customer we have many choices for food/drink options. The Beacon Public House will always have a customer in me mainly because of employees like Maleeya. You should be very proud to have a employee like Maleeya working for your company.

Stopped in to kill time while my father was at the nearby hospital. Saw the porkbelly on the small plate menu and asked bartender what the portion size was. Big apparently, and I wasn't very hungry and hesitated to order so he offered a half portion. It was amazing and think it is so awesome they were willing to do that. If I'm around here again I am definitely stopping by the Beacon!

I loved having a drink and dinner here. The staff is amazing, shout out to Kiersten and Mara!

We stayed at the Graduate Hotel for 9 nights while my brother was in the ICU at the University of Minnesota. The staff at the restaurant were so amazing, so kind, and so catering. We would come in near kitchen-close, and the girls working would sneak in our orders, and our food was always amazing. All of the workers had such great personalities, and helped bring light to some dark days. We so appreciate the kindness from the staff at The Beacon.

We stayed at the Graduate hotel 2 nights over UMN Homecoming weekend (so, busy) and ate here both nights, mainly because of convenience, and we were tired. It exceeded expectations both times! The smash burger was excellent! The chili was delish! Wedge salad was yummy. The servers and manager were friendly and attentive. The evening after the game was busy but they did a great job managing the crowd. We booked a reservation about an hour before, and avoided a 30 min wait. Would definitely recommend if in the area and/or staying at the hotel. They also have fun games to play outside the restaurant, ie air hockey etc.

My partner and I ate at the beacon for dinner a few days ago and had such a good experience. Our server campbell was and she was top notch such a delight! Very knowledgeable with the cocktails and food. She recommended the wings, tacos and salmon which were FANTASTIC. I had a great conversation with her about the campus and the hotel and she knew all the spots to go. So helpful. Will be coming back because of her!

Used several times whilst staying in the graduate hotel for the week. Service was generally good, little slow at breakfast. Food was good and drinks were excellent

We were there on a Sunday evening and the place was pretty chill. Breta did a great job serving us the food took a long time and when it finally arrived most items were just warm, not hot. So there must have been some delay getting the food out once it was plated. We do like the restaurant though because it has the table games nearby.

Low key under rated hotel restaurant. The crab stuffed walleye was buttery, tasty and succulent. Really nice atmosphere for a hotel restaurant.

I used the Graduate hotel’s breakfast restaurant. Each morning, I enjoyed a satisfying breakfast accompanied by friendly service from the staff.

This is an ok place to stop for happy hour if you are on the East Bank campus—tap beers are $4 and their house wines are $5. I’ve also been here before for breakfast/lunch/dinner meetings for work and while the food is good it’s quite expensive for what you get. If you are planning to stop by for happy hour you might want to call ahead and see if they’re having one—despite saying it M-F 4-6, when I stopped by with a group recently they told us there was no happy hour that day.

We ate twice at this restaurant while staying in the hotel for a weekend trip. The Rueben with turkey was so good I ordered it both times. The burger was raved about by our kids.

J

The best wings I have ever had. They were whole wings and were grilled, not deep-fried. We also had crab stuffed walleye with a mushroom risotto. Our server, Megan, was attentive and very kind and cheerful.

Nice place, good TV setup for watching sports, and good food that’s a cut above a typical hotel bar. The downside is I’ve been going there for years now and it’s been chronically understaffed the entire time. The staff does their best but service is slow regardless bc they just don’t have enough people. If you’re going before a Gophers game make sure to get there with plenty of time to spare.

Stopped in for a light lunch. Food was great, our waitress was great but she was all by herself and had a lot of tables…I had the beet salad and a hot tea. A little pricey but worth the splurge if you want something a bit fancier/healthy but don’t want to leave campus.

The food here is excellent! My only complaint is the excessively high prices (I'm sure driven by the fact it's in a hotel). A very quiet spot to get lunch on a weekday.

A nice, cozy bar and restaurant with an upscale feeling adjacent to the U of MN campus. They have a nice beer selection and the menu has a lot of good choices. I really enjoy the Reuben. Prices reflect the upscale setting.

Excellent area for socializing. Breakfast was nice. Egg, cheese, and spinach on English muffin. Applewood smoked bacon. Hashed browns were interesting....kind of hard....not really crispy. Had black tea but no chai tea.

Within The Graduate Hotel. Got beet and fresh mozz salad, and pesto and tomato flatbread.

Chili was good, Korean Wings were awesome, but the Artichoke Crab dip was not good.

B

The smash burger was great, but the Beacon mac & cheese would have been better without the strange bbq sauce. Also the service was lacking, but they were very busy.

Inside The Graduate Hotel. Typical bar food. Nothing of note. The breading on the chicken was too heavy. Their Boom boom sauce is just Chipotle mayo. (A rose by any other name) The server was quite pesty about ordering quickly and then disappeared. A very poor restaurant for such a nice hotel.

Mediocre food, at best. Stayed at the attached hotel so ate here twice. Dinner. Overcooked salmon. Droopy and browned lettuce in Caesar salad. Hoped breakfast would be better. Flavorless and overly whipped eggs in the omelette. Terrible. Absolutely not worth the cost. Stay away.

A
Ax Woz

Hipster level food. Small portions. Ersatz ingredients. Price is thrice for what you are served. Beware the bill ...caught 3 over charged items on a single sitting. Even coffee was cool to tepid ... coffee was not listed on the menu. Is a hamburger and beer worth $35.00 ?

Worst. Service. Ever. The server was overwhelmed and had no training from what I could see. No manager to be found to help. Our drinks took over 20 minutes to get, this was after waiting 20 minutes for the server to even show up and say hello. Absolutely worst experience ever.

Immediately upon checking in we were told we had to leave within an hour and a half because the table was reserved for another party then. We then waited 30 minutes for our drinks. After receiving our food from a different waitress our original waitress never checked on us until we flagged her down to get our checks. They also had a tv on that was showing cleft pallet surgeries the entire time we were there. Strange choice for a restaurant. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was a really terrible experience. The one good thing I will say is that they have good fries 🤷🏼‍♀️

S
Shannon Cartrett

Terrible service- had a reservation and after being seated waited forever for the waitress to come over. Moderately crowded but she visited our table very infrequently after the crowd dispersed. The mac & cheese was horrible and had weird barbecue sauce on it. Burger was OK but there was a hair in the french fries. As far as the wine -decent selection but the Pinot Noir was served warm and in a very small glass. I had to ask for ice to cool it down and three cubes melted in the wine- appropriate glassware and chilled wine should not be too difficult for this type of establishment and for the pricing. We ended up ordering Dominoes pizza.

I don’t actually know if the food is any good here. We had a reservation, the lady at the desk was quite rude I could hear her being rude to the people in front of us and she says to us there’s a big wait time after these people, I said oh we made a reservation and she walked away. Another employee joined her and he had to tell her twice to “stop” for being rude she told the people in front of us they should have made a reservation. Anyway the man asked us if we were being helped(he was very nice and I could see he was very busy) I said we’re a reservation and he said table will be a while but he could sit us at a high top. I said that’s fine. He sat us and told us a waiter would be over to us. We sat for 25 mins and no one came near us so we left! While we sat I seen a young man come in and go to the bar, the bartender stayed at the other end chatting then walked by him multiple times and not even acknowledge him so he walked out. It’s really the worst service I’ve ever seen. The employee you seated us was very nice but I would not go back here.

Probably one of the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. In short, the restaurant demands an upscale and premium price, but delivered little in quality of the food and service. We had a medium sized group. It took about 10 mins for our drinks to come, and another 40 mins for our food to come. During that time, the waitress only checked with us for once. Mind you, this was on a Saturday night with the restaurant at about 25-30% capacity when we were there. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the special dish of the night. Almost every single one of them missed the mark. The walleye special was mediocre at best. Veggies are ok, but the fish was bland. The salmon came little raw. We don't have issue with raw fish, we love sushi. But this dish definitely did not call for raw salmon. The chicken sandwich was overcooked and had too much breading. Half of the sandwich had bacon and pickle, and half of the sandwich didn't. Too bad, because I don't think the breading wouldn't taste bad if it weren't overcooked. The fish and chips also had similar issue. It was fried for too long. The fish was too greasy, and very bland. It didn't even come with a slice of lemon as advertised. The only redeeming food was the cheese curds. We didn't care for the "curry ketchup", whatever that was. The curds were decent, not overcooked, and pretty decent. Lastly, the drinks. Never again. Taps weren't available. A Heineken is $7. A lemon drop shot is $10. And the rest of the signature cocktails are anywhere between $10 to $15 each, and none that we had was very good. They definitely couldn't justify the price they were listed at. Overall, I wouldn't recommend anyone to spend any money at this establishment. It's such a shame, the hotel it's attached to is great. I wish the hotel would've selected a better restaurant that its guests could go to.

Nothing but bad experiences here every time. Our party reserved a private room (documented), the restaurant didn't know we were coming and didn't have a room. A staff member said we could use their TV for our presentation, then half way through the manager comes over and makes a scene, stops us in the middle and says there's a $100 charge for the TV, and we can't use it anyway, and makes us go back to our table. Zero professionalism. Wait staff has been either rude or clueless about their food and drink (or both) every time I've been there. Food is mediocre and very overpriced.

The service was not good. The whole place was so incredibly unorganized the entire time we were there. The drinks were awful - unless you got a bottle or tap beer. I ordered the Cosmo, which is $14, and it was brought out to me. It was ok at best. My friend got there and ordered the same thing. When the waitress brought hers, it was a completely different color and had a lemon stuck on the rim of the martini glass - which mine did not. Mine had a slice of rine floating in it and hers did not. We all looked at each other in confusion and she said, "a different bar tender made this one." We each tried her drink and it was just awful! It was clearly not made right. She couldn't even choke it down and there was no offer made to make her the correct drink or do something about it. So she paid her $14 for the awful "Cosmo" that she couldn't even choke down. Another friend of mine ordered a bloody Mary and it was so spicy, like pepper, that she also could not even choke it down. I love bloodys, so I tried it and I also could not even handle it. It was mentioned to the waitress and she apologized but nothing was done, but of course were charged full price. Both drinks remained full when we left.

T

Terrible service. Ordered a few drinks. Took them 15-20 mins just to bring them. One was a martini. When the waitress brought it over it didn't have a garnish and the waitress asked if we wanted one. Who serves a martini with no garnish? When we asked for one it took her another 5-10 mins to bring it. Then waitress blamed the service on the bartender. The whole while we were there we saw our waitress probably 3 times. She was in hiding somewhere. Definitely not serving her tables. We won't be back.

J
Jessica Rice

Been here twice for games nearby and the service has been ridiculously slow. Fifteen minutes for a drink and over twenty to get any food. Both servers rarely checked in on us, in fact we would look for them for at least ten minutes trying to get and pay for our tab. The first time we were here we literally had to ask another server to get our server to bring back our cards so we could get to the game on time. This time we got our second drink after we asked for the tab. Service is terrible and food is nothing special.

A
Andrew Boyette

Nice restaurant, great hotel. Slow service God awful food (my fish and chips came with a spray bottle of vinegar in the basket on my food with visible crud all of the bottle, lemon slice was practically mummified it was so dry, and the French fries were hilariously undercooked) Grab a $10 corona if needed and then go to and other restaurant nearby

N
Natalie Hernandez

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My husband was seated, waited 15 minutes for the menu, and after another 15minutes left when no one came to ask for his drink or meal order. Such wonderful service!

C
Cloak Dagger

Really pricey for the quality of the food. Staff seems disinterested and can be borderline rude. I informed the bartender that one of their beers didn't taste right, a beer I'm very familiar with, he argued with me that it tasted just fine. Lot's of much better choices in the area so do yourself a favor and skip this place.
