My wife and I just had an amazing 1 year anniversary dinner here! Fernanda was a spectacular host and server she gave great hospitality! The food was delicious, I had the duck and my wife had the lasagna both delicious. For dessert, we had the berry cake which was DANGEROUSLY delicious. If you’re in the area, gluten free or not, check them out!
My favorite sandwiches in town! Plus love their fries. I need to come try dinner soon, but I swing by to pick up lunch from here weekly for over a year now. My husband eats gluten, but tried the turkey sandwich one day and now he’s hooked! Can’t even tell it’s gluten free. The bread is so delicious, bacon perfectly crispy! I also love their tuna sandwich. Sometimes I add cheese & make it a tuna melt. We love all there desserts and treats too. Great customer service and if you call it in they have it ready on time every time.
Incredible Food!!!! Great staff! Everything is gluten-free! If you're not gluten-free go here too, you won't be disappointed! I will definitely be back!
Absolutely delicious! I love Lilac Patisserie & am so excited they've now expanded into opening a new restaurant. I highly recommend the Buffalo Cauliflower as a starter. I had the Santa Barbara Spaghetti for my main, which was a delightful mix of umami-savory flavors. Finished up with a sweet & zesty lemon tart. One of my favorite features of the restaurant is their excellent selection if wines (with Sommelier on hand to help you choose), including some delicious non-alcoholic options. I enjoyed the atmosphere-- white tablecloths, candles, soft lighting & easy jazz music. Great for a special night out. Looking forward to their lunch menu when it comes out!
Cayla provided great service and the food& ambiance was great too. Wonderful latte and French toast made this breakfast after walk on the beach with a friend a perfect one! Thank you Lilac!
Fantastic! Canadian tourist …. Asked a random someone walking an expensive dog where they recommend for breakfast. This place was right across the street. Loved it. We had the salmon plate. Wonderful meal and service.
As a Celiac, this is the perfect restaurant to exemplify that gluten free food can be just as delicious, if not more, than glutinous. Everything was amazing, but the lava cake killed me and sent me to heaven

Terrific brunch spot ALL gluten free, without sacrificing anything to those who are not. Not written on the menu, but if you know, you know. The gluten free bread was the best, really surprisingly good. Everything well prepared, nicely served, with good cheerful service and a pleasant vibe. Awesome looking desserts. Tried two: carrot cake in muffin form and cheesecake (OK, not NY, but pretty damn good), both of which looked good and tasted good. Nice to walk around the town and stop for a meal here.
Literally amazing every time. Came for brunch and had quiche Lorraine. I ordered the chocolate apricot scone. Delicious. The crust on the quiche is fhe best ive ever had gluten free but my husband who isn't gf said it was still the best. Loved everything. Service is always exceptional. Bell is adorable. We reserved a table ahead and had best table. Thank you! We keep coming back and best restaurant that happens to be my happiest place because its all gf.
First, staff were so friendly! Literally every staff member was so sweet. Food was so good and gluten free. Fried calamari and onion rings were so tasty. Will definitely be coming again and recommend to anyone looking for gluten free food that tastes amazing.
What a delight! Gluten-free friends, Lilac is a must. This is a pleasant place with delicious food served by lovely people. We had the quiche, avocado toast, and the club salad. Each plate was a delicious. Merci!
Wonderful experience for my wife and me. Cordial greeting, lovely ambiance, terrific service (Oliver), beautiful and tasty food that uses great ingredients thoughtfully prepared - and a well curated wine list. Not nearly crowded enough for the quality of the experience. Perhaps not “trendy” enough for some, but that is their loss.
Exceptional Gluten-Free Dining & Hospitality at Lilac Montecito My wife and I returned to Lilac Montecito for dinner after visiting their sister café in Santa Barbara earlier that day. We’ve been to Lilac before and already knew the food was fantastic—but this visit reminded us why the experience here is truly unmatched. Earlier in the evening, we had left a nearby restaurant where my wife’s celiac disease was dismissed without care. The moment we stepped into Lilac, the contrast was clear. Lilac Montecito is a 100% gluten-free restaurant, which instantly set our minds at ease. For anyone with celiac disease—or dining with someone who has it—you know how rare it is to relax fully during a meal. Here, you can. Our server, Emanuel, and his entire team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, respected, and cared for. Their warmth, professionalism, and quiet attentiveness turned what could’ve been a ruined evening into the best date night we’ve had in years. We arrived about 60 minutes before closing and—without planning to—lingered a bit past their posted hours. Not once did we feel rushed. The team continued to serve with grace and never made us feel like an inconvenience. We were incredibly grateful for their hospitality and respect that this was a generous exception, not the norm. The food was incredible—beautifully plated, fresh, and deeply flavorful. And knowing every bite was safe for my wife made it that much more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a refined, fully gluten-free restaurant in Montecito with a staff that truly cares, Lilac Montecito should be your first stop. We’ll absolutely be back—and next time, we’re bringing friends.
Fantastic food. They were able to accommodate my food sensitivities (beyond gluten, which was a non issue since they are dedicated gluten free restaurant). TIP: Make sure to check the bakery in downtown Santa Barbara. They have amazing gluten free baked goods choices…
Ive eaten here a few times now, consistently good, fresh, and delicious. It's now a regular choice for dining while in Montecito!

Fresh salads and sandwiches with home-baked bread. Friendly staff and an impressive wine menu make this a memorable patio lunch experience.

Quiet gem of a restaurant. Consistently creative dinner menu that surpasses the more crowded, louder establishments in Montecito. The small detail that it is gluten free will go unnoticed. Nothing is compromised. The Sweet and Sour Cauliflower is one of the best appetizers I've ever had. Great pastas, perfect salmon and hearty petit filet mignon.

I had no idea that this place was 100% gluten free until I got here and I was SO HAPPY. I generally hate the taste of gluten free bread, desserts, etc but they did this so beautifully. My whole family isn’t gluten free and also doesn’t like substitutions, but everyone was so delighted with their meals. Great Prosecco for brunch too! We will be going back as much as possible!!
You’ll feel a sense of tranquility at Lilac. There’s a “lightness” to the place. The staff presented themselves in a calm and gentle-toned manner. The food was good. Overall, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable dining experience.

I ordered the mocha, which wasn’t on the menu and staff was able to make for me delicious order the eggs Benedict regular constructive criticism, though I got my ex Benedict and eggs were not soft poached. They were like soft hard and as I was drinking my mocha I noticed something in the froth and I looked at it and it’s some kind of an insect floating in there. I picked it out and put it on the side of my plate and took a really good look at it, and it was an insect of some kind. . I picked it out and put it on the side of my plate and took a really good look at it, and it was a insect of some kind. I pointed it out to the waste staff, and they said that they would. They would mention to the chef cooking at that time as for the mocha I drank it, but wasn’t too crazy about it $40 with tip expensive but worth it maybe next time it’ll be a better than experience and the other grip is not enough ham Canadian two thin slices I could go to Hugo‘s in Carpinteria and get the same thing for 18 bucks

The service was SO SLOW, we were there for an extended period of time. Then the waiter added a 20% tip to the bill without telling me (for a party of 3), which I do not think is a normal thing to do. So i ended up tipping again, and left 40% tip for bad service. Portions small and prices expensive. $35 for a lunch chicken fettuccine.
What a ripoff. Good if you need gluten free and have 0 options, or like paying $60 for a steak frites. I asked for another cup of a sauce they brought with an appetizer, so I could have it with my burger and fries, and didn’t get it. Meat and fries were decent but that sauce was the best thing I had there. The other table’s salmon looked pretty good, so maybe go for the fish
Disappointing Experience - Didn't Live Up to the Hype Visited for lunch on a Monday afternoon, drawn by glowing reviews and charming photos. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. We were seated in a room to the left of the entrance, which felt plain and stuffy—lacking the cozy vibe promised by the photos. The ambiance didn’t set a great tone. Service was inconsistent. Our server was friendly but absent for long stretches, and they mixed up part of our order, which was frustrating. The food, sadly, didn’t redeem the visit. The lemon blueberry tart lacked a bright lemon flavor, with a thick, bland crust. The chicken sandwich was overcooked, leaving the chicken dry. The seared tuna salad disappointed with tuna that was barely seared. The chicken rice soup felt generic, like something from a buffet. The apple sausage was decent—the highlight, if there was one—but the bacon was underwhelming and undercooked, and the fried eggs were reminiscent of a diner’s basic fare. Overall, the dishes felt uninspired, and the execution missed the mark. With so much potential based on its reputation, this felt like a letdown. Perhaps Monticito’s dining scene has limited options boosting its ratings, but I’d pass on a return visit.
