Four of us ate there the food was very good as was the service. We will return
We visited the pub for Sunday lunch after recommendations from a colleague - we were not disappointed! Service from the start was welcoming and friendly, food was served quickly but it was all freshly made to order and was outstanding. Roast potatoes were divine and my daughter, who is incredibly fussy, said it was the best Sunday dinner she’d had! We’ll be back soon to try the weekday menu as well.
Had the pleasure of visiting this delightful pub at the weekend while at my caravan in ellington. We popped along for a roast dinner . We recuevedca very warm welcome from ethan and Holly and recommended some cocktails. Our dinner was served promptly and was delicious. Definitely be back .
We went for a Sunday lunch and it was well worth the trip. We booked online and it was good that we did, the place was full. The meal was first rate with very generous portions. The service was excellent, both quick and courteous. It was a great experience and we will most definitely be coming back. If you want good food at reasonable prices, this is the place to find it.
Today we tried the Plough again. Been in past and has been a hit or a miss with the food, but i have to say today it was a fantastic experience. Taylor whom served us was very organised, proactive and very professional in her work. Outstanding service with us and other customers of what we observed, Taylor thank you. Now to the food.....food today was absolutely flawless, could not fault one thing. Had king Prawn starter and cheese and bacon burgers (2 beef patties) for main with skin on fries. My friend had Hunters Chicken for main and a Salted Caramel Brownie with vanilla icecream for dessert. £13.99 for 2 courses, excellent value. I will be back.
It was the best meal be we have had in a long time. Everything spot on. Can,t wait to go back. Well done.
We stayed here for two nights. We were very impressed. The landlady, Holly, was very attentive and informative. The accommodation had all of the home comforts we needed. It's in a lovely area. The food in the restaurant was very good, and reasonably priced. Thank you 😊. We can't wait for our return.
Stopped here for lunch today, we received a warm welcome, the staff friendly and the food was lovely, also dog friendly with treats, water bowls and blankets for your dog to lie on. All in all a great experience and if I lived locally would visit this place more often 😁
Quite quiet when we visited on a Saturday afternoon so service was very attentive. Both food and drinks menus had a decent range and were reasonably priced. We both ordered burgers with a side of onion rings and were very satisfied (and full) with our choices. Husband had the pulled beef whilst I had the stilton and mushroom, we would recommend both. Onion rings were absolutely the best. Can also recommend the Mexican Lime Spritz from the drinks menu. Simple yet refreshing! Looking forward to visiting again.
Called in for an early lunch on Xmas eve. The food was great, service excellent and everyone was so friendly. They even fetched a biscuit for our dog!
We stumbled across this pub and what an absolute little gem. Lovely staff, super dog friendly lovely inside and out. Our Sunday dinner was gorgeous especially the pork 😋 with good crackling. I could not fault one thing. Delicious!! Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back.
Stopped on the way from the beach, food was really nice and fresh, great menu, great selection of drinks and friendly staff. Toilets were really clean and my wife commented on how nice the women’s was too. Garden was massive and has a small play set for the kids too. Will be back.
Didn't stay in the Inn but visited fir and evening meal with our dog. Only one inside area allows dogs but half the tables in there are very high with high bar chairs that wasn't really comfortable for our party. The food was good though.
We went for a meal on a Friday evening. The server was very pleasant and welcoming. We waited a little longer than expected but there was only 1 server and to be honest, it really wasn't an issue. The food was excellent value, hot and freshly cooked. The surroundings were really nice and we will definitely be back
Food is brilliant, service is excellent, and the beer quality is great
Lovely pub, friendly and welcoming staff. Great to pop in for drinks. We have eaten here on many occasions and the food has been fantastic every time. Well worth the 20 minute walk through fields to come here!
Brilliant pub and staff Ethan is a great host and a brilliant chef! Excellent food and really tasty breakfast! rooms are really nice and very comfy beds! We were working on a job next door and will be stopping here again when we are back up to work on the next phase!
Was staying at Cresswell towers caravan park and decided to have a walk to the Plough Inn. This is a great pub for people of all ages and the food was amazing and the staff are very friendly. I'll be back next year to try something else on their menu
What a brilliant pub. Just moved to Ellington and couldn’t ask for more from a local. Very friendly and welcoming with good food, drinks and clientele. And so dog friendly, with help yourself biscuit stash and help yourself water. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be back. Definitely try it out if your in the area! won't be disappointed. Dog friendly in the bar (you can eat there too in the bar side with the dog) staff are amazing. Very very friendly. I'll be back in July. I live in Sunderland that's all. So I'll be back when I come back to Cresswell
A cosy local pub that has a fantastic selection of drinks and a classic pub menu filled with delicious food. Dogs are welcome and treated like customers. It shows sports and matches on its many screens and has a usable juke box you can put music on. It has a quiz every Thursday and also hosts many special nights and events; check their socials to see what they have coming up. You can stay over for around £90 per night which is very reasonably priced and rooms are snugly decorated, comfy and homely. All staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful.
Nice staff, very pretty pub and nice outdoor area to sit and eat
First time here for a meal. Hadn't booked in advance but a table was quickly found. Sat down with a drink and after a few minutes a waitress came and took our order which consisted of two Sunday lunches followed by desserts. Our main meal arrived after about 5 minutes which was cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyable. The dessert followed about 10 minutes after we finished our main meal which again was very enjoyable. Excellent value for money and very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone.
Arrived for hour Sunday lunch ask to check in then shown to table, ordered drinks and food that arrived quickly. Lunch was fantastic portion sizes were just right and nice and hot, would definitely recommend if your looking for lovely homily meal. faultless
Drinks are nice from here Never had the chance to eat here yet but food looks lovely
We've just come away from a wonderful family meal at The Plough Inn. Although the menu was temporarily reduced because of a change in menu in s few days the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food was lovely and substantial. The mixed grill was formidable and the steak cooked to perfection. Sweets we similarly generous and freshly prepared. Also welcoming of dogs in the bar area with water and treats. Definitely recommend :-)
Had a lovely meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Here on holiday and will certainly visit again. Dog friendly and comfortable.
No unfortunate compromises in this budget friendly hotel. Booked a single room for an overnight stay. Room was clean and nicely decorated, small ensuite was very nice. Ate dinner in the restaurant, good pub menu and a tasty burger. Full English breakfast was also very good. Definitely recommended.
Great atmosphere and good pool table and quiz.
Dined here twice this week good menu cooked really well with way above average friendly hospitality.
Friendly attentive staff. Dog friendly in the bar, but we weren't allowed to make a booking in there so she had to stay home! The food was really nice and reasonably priced, however the drinks were shockingly priced. I live in Switzerland and it made my eyes water... it was a shocking end to a lovely dinner and night out!
Can’t fault this place. Nice rooms and breakfast for the price. Nice little bar down stairs with pool and darts. Food was nothing special but ate everything. The waiter arcing couldn’t do enough for us while having dinner and while drinking in the bar afterwards.
Came here for Sunday lunch, lovely service, the food was lovely and the produce fresh. My only tiny grumble was that our rack of lamb was dry and a bit hard to cut but we received a large jug of gravy on request which was delicious and brought the delicious fresh vegetables to life. Many thanks.
Stayed for a night through work, lovely pub. Stayed in a single room which was nice and cosy with everything could need but the bathroom could have done with a better clean especially round plug holes (sink and shower) and shelf very dusty, sink had a bad drain smell. But apart from that was a pleasant stay, nice breakfast (poached eggs on toast as didn't have time for full English, eggs were perfect).
Good food. Polite staff.. Maybe need an extra pair of hands at the bar, With a dog friendly separate bar. Overall enjoyable.
Had a lovely meal, owners very pleasant, service, food and drinks were spot on and well priced.
Beautiful country dog friendly pub. Menu was a standard pub menu but the quality of the food was outstanding. Fresh and all homemade ingredients. Portion size is on the large size so you won't go away unsatisfied! Can highly recommend the onion rings too.
Had a night day / night away yesterday after a stressful time of late so just wanted to relax and have some nice food and few drinks . It was just what the doctor ordered. Food was so good and the breakfast was the best we have ever had . Piping hot and delicious. The staff couldn't do enough for you and lovely to see a local pub busy with customers and doggies :)
Food was ok. Staff were helpful and polite. Don't look at the menu shown online as its now quite a themed menu.
Food was good no complaints as reasonable price and portions, however the bar lady was a little rude when placing the food order when i asked about the drinks as an extra option as its not described properly on the menu. I.e she said drinks are draft only, but this dose not say it on menu. Attitude was not aspected.
Stayed here one night before setting off on the Northumberland Coast Path the next day. Room a bit tired as was the whole place really. Needs a good refurbishment. No meals on a Sunday Night so we went elsewhere. Breakfast was pretty good tho.
Friendly welcome, but very noisy in bar next to dining area. Service a bit slow. Food very nice when it arrived but I do object to being charged for swapping chips for mash on one meal.
Up north on holiday visiting family. Recommended for birthday meal. Table booked for 7:00pm. Meals arrived at 7:50pm. After meals, was told you can't order a dessert the kitchen is closed. Very disappointed and what a loss of revenue for the pub.
Just went in for a quick lunch on a Saturday. Not too busy but service a bit slow
Went for dinner, food excellent, beer excellent service excellent. Needs a bit of a clean as it smells a bit and the tables were a bit sticky. Dog friendly in the bar and the staff make a good fuss of your pet. A good clean would definitely improve the star rating.
Negative experience: A pub with a few rooms, small and not very clean. We had booked with breakfast, but we were denied it because we showed up late, and we were not refunded. The only negative experience on a wonderful trip.
Everything seems to be too much trouble here. The food is very average at best. The chicken curry is like it’s from a tin. The staff haven’t got a clue what the other is doing. The waiter says you can have food and the bar man says you can’t. You eventually grudgingly get served and when you ask for steak sauce it comes 5 minutes after you finished eating it! Then you are asked if you want a desert so you go to the bar to order it and are told by someone else that they have stopped serving and by the way, you have to get your kids out in 5 minutes!! I never once saw a smile on anyones face but I spent over £150 here in under an hour which should have been enough. If you don’t like your job you should move to another as your clearly in the wrong one. I don’t think the locals like tourists as I overheard a customer proclaiming not to be a “Tourist” . The 2 stars are because I was on holiday and feeling generous.
Booked for 7pm on a Thursday for seven adults. Main meals were fair to good.( after an hour wait!). We asked for desserts. It was 8.20pm by this time and was informed that they had now closed the kitchen and desserts were no longer being served!! I got the impression they wanted us out, as they apparently have a quiz night on Thursday, and I got the impression we were holding that up. Poor form. We would of put another £50-70 on our bill, but clearly, the local event comes first! My advice... Don't book on a Thursday!
Absolute disgrace of a pub , waited over an hour for food that we eventually asked to be boxed up because we sat so long and waited we wanted to take it home, it then come out on plates which had about 6 chips on not in boxes like we asked so we decided to just leave and requested a refund which we were rudely refused. Woman was the most arogant rude person I have ever come across wouldn’t go back if it was the last place on earth!!
Been this evening for a meal with friends. The food was not up to much. Presentation for starters were terrible. One guest asked for salt and chilli chips but just recieved ordinary chips they were taken back and dusted with chilli. The chicken schnitzel was just chicken breast butterflied and cooked in batter. We were there in the summer for food and it was lovely. But after tonight we won't be back. As I say there was 6 of us so for during the week you will a substantial amount of money. I would not recommend your establishment. You couldn't even offer an Irish coffee.
We went on a Thursday night after the beach. Service staff were very nice, but incompetent. Our food order was wrong, and arrived after an hour (as did our drinks after we chased them up twice). The food itself was very disappointing. A burger and chips meal with fewer than 15 chips. I thought pricing seemed very competitive, but ultimately I wouldn't want to pay for that again.
Went for tea with 3 young kids, the woman who was behind the bar looked me up and down when first walked in then had a poor attitude through the whole discussion of them not serving food outside and until 5pm but they did direct me to Brewers Fayre. this pub seems to want to accommodate families with a park, £1 kids meals and colouring books etc but the welcome received seemed the very opposite. Kids wanted to stay and play at the park so waited and got food, food was ok but based on the attitude of the server (seems to be quite often judging by reviews) we wouldn’t return on this basis. Can say that there was a younger girl on the bar who was lovely!
