Mimba's African Cuisine is the best bet for anyone looking for a place to dine or order African food in Lisbon, Portugal. I and my husband were looking for a place to eat any African or Nigerian delicacy at about 10pm, when we came across their website. It was surprising to see that their restaurant opens till 2am. We enjoyed Eba and Egusi with lots of dried fish and meat alongside a Cameroonian pineapple soft drink which we tried for the first time. We had a wonderful conversation with the restaurant team who also played Nigerian genres for us which made us feel at home. They have topnotch customer service. I strongly recommend Mimba's African Cuisine as it is also very close to the metro station.
Amazing review for Mimba's African Cuisine Where do I begin.... we travelled to Lisbon to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday and my mum wanted to eat Nigerian food on her birthday. As this was our first time travelling to Portugal we did a google search of African restaurants in Lisbon. Many of the restaurants served Angolan/Portuguese cuisine. We stumbled upon Mimba's African cuisine and saw that although they were not a Nigerian restaurant, they served many of our local delicacies including Egusi soup, Pounded yam and Jollof rice!!! We contacted Mimba (the owner) to book a reservation for my mum's birthday and realised that the owner is Cameroonian (neighbours to Nigeria)! On the night of my mums birthday they had a special event 'This is Africa' happening, where they had a buffet, African fashion show and music playing!!! We booked for this event as we knew my mum would love it and we were even offered a discounted rate!!! Mimba was very helpful and let us know how to make the payment and asked what he could do to make mum's birthday special. When we arrived at the restaurant Mimba was exceptionally friendly and was a great host. He introduced us to the guests, provided us with a variety of drinks- including juice/water and 'Top' (Cameroonian drink) and he even played 'Sweet mama' while all the guests sang for my mum. My mum felt like a queen on her birthday and it really made her day! And not forgetting that the food was extremely tasty especially the grilled fish, jollof rice and the Egusi soup. Hats off to the chef for cooking up such a storm. We had an early morning flight to catch so we had to leave before the event ended, however we were pleased to find out later that my mum was awarded 'best dressed' on the night! Thank you Mimba and the team for making us feel so welcome on the night and accommodating us. You contribute to making my mum's 70th birthday a huge success! We will certainly come back to visit when we are next in Lisbon and would recommend your restaurant to others who want a 'taste of Africa'!
We had the lamb and the fish and both were amazing! The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming! Would definitely recommend.
My soul is refreshed after eating at Mimba's. Looking at the other reviews, I now have very long list of food to try.
MIMBA’s African Cuisine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing restaurant. We were looking for a Nigerian esque cuisine to celebrate my mum’s birthday. We came across this restaurant and the reviews enticed us. While not Nigerian it serves Nigerian-esque cuisine (defo close cousins being Cameroonian ☺️). Making arrangements with the owner Mimba was fantastic. He was very hospitable and accommodating. On the day the food and service was first class. My mum felt treated like a Queen and at the end everyone coming around to sing with her and take photos just made the day. Thank you Mimba and the team. We will definitely be back.
Super tasty African food. Very friendly people and a good atmosphere :-))
A comida é ótima!
Comida maravilhosa! Ambiente super alegre ! Comemos até não conseguir mais ! Atendimento maravilhoso, simpáticos e atenciosos, espero que consigam aumentar o restaurante! Voltaremos a comer de certeza! Primeira vez a comer comida nigeriana e viciamos! Wonderful food! Super fun atmosphere! We ate until we couldn't eat anymore! Wonderful service, friendly and attentive, I hope they manage to enlarge the restaurant! We will eat again for sure! First time eating Nigerian food and we were addicted!

Delicious and authentic African cuisine. Very friendly guy made sure we felt good in there.
Touti quanti , maravilhoso. Bonna genti. Comida muita boa.
Top top top top … Obrigado ❤️
Recomendo!

Overal mid experience. The plantain was overripe and burnt, there were no sauces to eat the fish with (apparently that’s how they do it there). The amount of Eru/okazi leaves was extremely little, not just for the amount of fufu but overall there was barely any in that little container. I took over 40 minutes to get this food. Overall quite disappointing

The plantains were good. The vegan egusi was basically scrambled tofu with many inedible pieces. Definitely not worth 18 euro, in terms of quality or flavor. If it wasn't so late, I would have left the meal unfinished and went somewhere else. To make matters worst, at the time of payment, the waiter said that it was cash only because the machine was down. It would have been wonderful to state that in the beginning. I think there was only one employee working because I waited over 20 minutes for him to come back so that I could ask to pay my bill. Overall, an unpleasant experience.
The food was almost nothing. Overpriced. 20 euro was wasted. The soup wasn't a soup. I got 1 chicken and bone into my soup. I rarely, if ever, leave food. I tried eating a bit out of respect, but I had to leave it. It simply wasn't worth it. Apparently, the spices are expensive to get to Lisbon, so the price is high. Ps: The person at work was new. Only 3 mo nths in Portugal. And new at work.
Gastei 36€.

Not only is the food overpriced and the quality is subpar but we got charged for stuff we didn’t even order! Unfortunately we only noticed when we got back home. Beware of these scammers!! -I went there in September 2024, glad the place is closed now
The service was very bad close to none existent. If you plan on going here be prepared to wait for more than an hour for a plate of food which tastes like it was taken from a fridge and slightly heated up in for you. I miss Cameroon cousins but I’d rather wait 10 or more years to taste it than going back there again.
I was here last year for my boyfriends birthday NOVEMBER 2024. we booked for a big group a week before with buffet and drinks included, and the food was bad, and drinks weren't cold. Zero preparation or care. Service was bad, slow and almost non existing. We waited for more than an hour for the food after the reservation time. In the end 1 person from our group didn't show up and they forced us to pay for them anyways. Despite us waiting this long they didn’t even let us wait until midnight to blow out my boyfriends candles and everywhere was closed. Don't come here

I traveled there for 40 minutes after checking multiple times if it’s open because the opening times are already weird and they stopped delivering out of nowhere bcs it was busy but online said it’s open and also available for pick up, just to find the store closed with nobody nearby
