This actually turns out better than we expected! Guess it's not yet broadly shared on xiaohongshu but already got full house on a Friday evening. Food has 锅气 which is very authentic. Rotti with peanut sauce, papaya salad, spicy basil with ground pork all are very good. Their mild spicy level is probably medium in other American-Thai restaurant, authentic in its way. Prices are reasonable, we got more than we could finish.
While visiting Castro Street we decided to try this Thai restaurant and were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food, the service and the environment. The Mango salad with crispy tofu was exquisite. The spicy eggplant stir fry with prawn was also amazing. We paired it with steamed brown rice and after our first few bites decided we will definitely be back to try other dishes.
The owner was very nice and generous. The food was really good and the service was fast.
Everyone in our group loved their food. I recommend their curry dishes (Mussaman & yellow curry), spring rolls, ginger tea, and roti with cashew sauce appetizer.
We visited this place for team lunch. Great Thai place with excellent food! I loved the authenticity of the food and their service was great and friendly! Great vegetarian options too! Deserts were okayish! Worth a try!
One of the best Thai restaurants I have been. Hot Tom yum soup was made of shrimp, mushrooms and tomatoes and it was very sour. Hoa Mok Fish was tasty and the spice level was pretty good.
We love their food and come often. Their service is very good! Speed of getting food ready is also good. Their sticky mango rice dessert is very good, sweet and ripe mangos. Still many dishes to try!
Best Thai food experience in Mountain View/Palo Alto. Our months- long search is over. We had chicken satay, soft tofu fresh rolls, and spicy basil tofu fried rice. All really good. Great service, airy, on a busy fun closed street. We will be back!
Very nice Thai restaurant. We enjoyed large coconut seafood soup and springs rolls and also Sinhga beer. Everything was fresh and tasty.
10/10 experience and food. I used to come to Amarin a lot when I lived nearby. I have not been back in a long time but was able to stop by the new location. I am so grateful that I was able to come back and have the mango cashew chicken & thai tea. Everything was delicious, just like I remembered. The service was great and everyone who helped me was so kind. I will be back when I am in the area again!
Joyful Cuisine is a standout in Mountain View’s competitive food scene. It offers exceptional value, hearty portions, and deeply flavorful cooking that feels both authentic and comforting. This isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a delicious experience that will have you planning your next visit before you’ve even left.
I had a wonderful experience at Joyous Cuisine. The food is truly delicious, the chili peppers are incredibly fresh, and every dish feels thoughtfully prepared. The service is warm and enthusiastic — the staff make you feel genuinely welcomed from the moment you walk in. A great place to enjoy flavorful dishes and friendly hospitality. Highly recommended!
I recently visited this restaurant and was genuinely impressed. The ambience is warm and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and every interaction felt friendly and sincere. The food was the highlight of the experience. Each dish was well-seasoned, beautifully presented, and cooked with clear attention to detail. The flavors were balanced and memorable — especially the signature entrée, which stood out for its freshness and creativity. Portions were generous without feeling overwhelming. Overall, this restaurant delivers excellent value for the quality of food and service. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back soon.
Absolutely loved Joyous Cuisine! The flavors are incredibly authentic and comforting. The spicy beef broth was rich, fragrant, and full of depth, and the beef was tender and generous in portion. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant is clean and cozy. If you’re in Mountain View and craving truly authentic Chinese food, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!
The Lamb Spine Pot was rich and flavorful with tender meat. The thick-cut beef skewers were juicy and perfectly grilled. Both versions of the Old Beijing yogurt were smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet. The fresh fish pot was generous in portion and full of bold, authentic flavors. Great quality and definitely worth coming back!
Incredible meal tonight! We tried a huge variety of dishes, and everything was bursting with flavor. The Grilled Fish looks phenomenal—steaming hot and packed with chili and herbs. Also loved the crispy Fried Tofu/Mushrooms and the rich, tender Lamb Ribs. If you like spicy food with great depth, this is the spot! 💯
We discovered this place just walking along on Castro. The hostess was a sweet old lady who explained the menu to us. The flavors were similar to hot pot but also a bit more on the sour side. Very tasty and tangy. The pan fried soup dumplings were flavorful and well done. Great service and interesting flavors.
What a gem in the heart of Mountain View! I was genuinely impressed by how affordable, flavorful, and welcoming this spot is. Parking can be a bit tricky on a busy Friday night, but with a couple of loops around the block, we managed to snag a spot. We tried the rice noodles, pig feet, and fried fish — and every dish was a hit. The fried fish was especially impressive, made fresh from live fish, and perfectly crispy on the outside. The pig feet were rich and packed with bold, savory flavor. Bonus: you can customize your meal with extra add-ins like bok choy, tofu, and mushrooms, which made it even better. And to top it all off, they offer free ice cream at the end — such a sweet touch! Definitely worth a visit if you're craving something comforting and delicious.
Absolutely delicious! I came here this afternoon and tried the oxtail rice noodles, chicken rice noodles, beef noodles, and sour soup beef, every single dish was amazing. The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and the broth was incredibly comforting. The oxtail was tender and flavorful, and the sour soup had just the right level of tanginess to keep you coming back for more. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic, satisfying Guizhou-style food. I’ll definitely be returning!
So delicious! The rice noodles are a must try, perfect balance of umami, tangy and spicy. Ask for extra pickled mustard green - it transcends the noodle soup to a heavenly level! Although noodles are their focus, other dishes are surprisingly exceptional too. I tried the pickled chili fish and soup dumplings. Gotta say I’ll no longer go anywhere else for pickled chili fish or soup dumplings. The place is spacious and beautifully decorated. Instantly my #1 restaurant in this area.
The food was really delicious but I am giving four stars because they gave us small dish and it was hard for us to eat in small dish. Apart from this the overall quality of food was awesome and the service was also good. Along with it they also helped us by keeping the cake in refrigerator as went to celebrate one of friends birthday. Fried rice , spring roll, pranthey and chutney and special salad was too good but the quantity was less as per price. I am definitely going there again!!
A great Thai place to eat with friends! The Tom ka soup is pretty good! I ordered with seafood. Curry is a bit salty but I guess you need to eat it with lots of rices, crab fried rice is my favorite! I had it twice but first time is better than second I guess. Still enjoyable
Came for lunch. Tried to skip carb and eat healthier and asked if I can have veggie as replacement. The waitress was flexible and agreed to change it without extra charge. Food came fast. My soup was delicious, although the replaced bean sprouts were scanty. Can't ask for more when they were nice enough to modify for you. Basil chicken and yellow curry chicken were both tasty. Yet the papaya salad was unbearably sour and tasted terrible, it also had fishy smell. I've never had papaya salad this bad. The recipe was a disaster. Service was very nice. Staff was polite and attentive. Would probably come back to try other dishes.
Good authentic Thai food. Friendly staff. Nice ambience. A bit pricey but well worth the tasty fare they serve. Some tables offer great view of the street and you watch the world stroll by.
Trying this place after 10 years. The quality has gone down compared to our last experience. The spring roll was good but the sauce could have been better. It was too salty that it overwhelmed other tastes. Pineapple fried rice was good you can’t go wrong with it. Green curry was delicious. I think this was the only place that I could find spicy Thai curry. Overall, good meal, but kinda overpriced.
We have eaten here for years and this is the first time at the new location. This place is half the size of the old location that was across the street. The food is still very good. Mango cashew chicken is a family favorite. Service has room for improvement. They dropped stacks of plates on the center of our table and had us place them, dropped 4 glasses and left at the side of the table, and brought the wrong appetizer by accident, We will still return and hope service is better next time.
The food was delicious I enjoyed the green curry I ordered and the pan-fried noodles. Service: The server was also really attentive to our friends’ nut allergy so I appreciated how they went back to check if the dishes were nut-free. The service can be slow also. We waited a while for our food and they almost missed the last dish we ordered, so expect to wait after you order. Restaurant: The restaurant has plenty of seatings. They have Thai decorations on the wall which is nice to see. It also looks like they have the tables where you sit on the floor, but those were closed when we came. Parking: Parking around downtown Mountain View’s not bad. We just parked in one of the lots nearby.
We had dinner with kids here. The food is delicious, authentic Chinese flavored, and very kids friendly. We had rice noodles, little hotpot, pot stickers and homemade yogurt. We would recommend the little hotpot which was very favorable(sour and spicy). The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. They even have free ice cream afterwards and kids were happy! Will come back again!
Good authentic food mostly, curry etc a bit over seasoned . Also note that extra sauce for ROTI seems like an extra charge of $7. Also the bill was given to me without showing the specific price for each item. Just wishing more honesty on this. The point is mostly deducted for this.
Food lacked flavor. Chicken satay and papaya salad was good. Fresh rolls and crab fried rice were average at best. Pranag chicken curry was the worst. Had big chunks of chicken with two three pieces of bell pepper. Curry was tasteless and whole dish looked unappetizing. Won’t be visiting again
Unfortunately service fell far short of even decent. Both waiters were rude and short with a 10+ minute delay to take our order and 30+ minutes to receive food. Drink refills were nonexistent. When it came time to pay the bill, we were told when we were given the check that the bill could only be split two ways. There were 6 of us that sat down and we informed the waiter we would all be separate checks and there was nothing said. We paid via handheld PoS system which could easily separate the checks. I understand it takes a few more minutes of the waiter’s time to split the checks, but that is compensated by mandatory pay and optional tips. On the positive side, the food was fantastic, with great taste and really solid portions. This unfortunately does not overcome the service issues. With all the other options in Mountain View, I would look elsewhere.
