We absolutely love this place! We have Birthdays, anniversary, holiday meals and even celebrated my daughter's high schools graduation there. Maria is one of my favorites ...shhhh 🤫 but we really have always had great service with all of their staff. The only thing that makes it hard for us to go as much as we would like is when my husband works late because they close fairly early. There is a quiet ,bald muscular man that is one of my favorites as well. Just can't remember his name. He is very soft spoken. Anyways they are great and the food is amazing.
Read another poster's positive review about this restaurant so I had to check it out since my husband was in the mood for Mexican food. So glad we went because the food was good. I ordered soft shell chicken tacos with white cheese ... no complaints. My husband ordered the San Antonio enchiladas and he was pleased. We sat in the patio area away from others. The service was excellent.
Laura was our server, and she was outstanding. It was her third day on the floor, and she was very attentive and proactive to our needs. The food was also very good.
We got the order to-go, Fish Tacos and El Paso Enchiladas. Even though it looked busy with people waiting to be seated, our order was ready on time. The food was still hot when we got home and delicious as always.
Great place. We were seated quickly and service was wonderful!! Food was very tasty and came quickly. Loved the salsa!
My family and I had a wonderful dinner here last night. I have been looking for a good traditional Tex-Mex restaurant for a while, and I think we found it. From the cabrito to the Texican dinner to the tortilla soup, all the entrees were excellent. The queso flameado was among the best I have ever eaten. Service was a bit slow but there were several large parties there so that probably explains the issue. Overall, everyone in our group agreed that this was a place we want to return to.
We had brunch at Texican Cafe on a Saturday, it was overall a great experience. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the salsa, it could be a bit hotter and less oniony. Solid chips though! I ordered the Burrito Especial, which was pricey but absolutely delicious. The young lady who served us was extremely attentive, polite and helpful. Place is busy, and gets packed fast. I'd strongly recommend booking your table in advance. I'll definitely get back to try some fajitas dish and one of their quesadillas.
I love their Texican Martinis. Wednesday they are half price. They use a great marinade for their fajitas so we go there when craving good fajitas. My kids love their sour cream enchiladas. We always ask for a side of extra sour cream sauce because it’s delicious and we never get enough. Great vibe for a family meal or a drink in the bar. Only downside— they don’t have ceviche and their stuffed avocados aren’t fried (just fyi). Maybe they can add that to their menu
Best place for business lunches! Manager Charlotte, assistant manager Mark were so accommodating for our XL group and allowed us to bring in some of our samples to show our clients! The waiter James was on it!! No one had an empty glass or cold food everything was perfect! Looking forward to doing that again soon! Thank you so much!
Excellent experience at Texican, thank you Maria this was a perfect meal. Quick service, lots of chips, great drinks, big portions, good prices what else do you need. We dined in and got a table quickly and our meal was smooth. Everything tasted great and was hot! Love the chimichangas, fajita or shredded, can't go wrong.
This is one of the most friendly, accepting, comfortable, and family-friendly dinin' spots you'll find in this area. The staff are incredibly cordial and polite. The food is, primarily, tex-mex, and, yeah, some folks will have less than stellar opinions about that, but, don't care - the food is made fresh, is small kitchen style, and, I find, along with the staff, that makes me feel more at home. I'd definitely go so far as to bring a date here, because it's an atmosphere for *"real"* folks, it's well-suited to relaxed, casual conversation, so, it's a warm, comfy spot, for down-to-earth conversation, and getting to know just 'bout anyone. Also, as someone autistic, who might be considered "neurospicy", I've been here on my "off" days, and know I'm in a relatively safe spot, if I'm feelin' particularly vulnerable to the world Thanks so much, for that! I've tried quite a few things, on their menu, and have never left feeling anything other than happy with my meal. Pictured is a grilled chicken salad, with their in-house chipotle ranch dressing, which is a perfect lunch. It's right-sized, and, doesn't make me want to nap, afterward. Also, I've always enjoyed the queso, with guacamole
I went at lunch time. The beans and rice were good. Hot sauce was decent. The taco and enchilada meat had little flavor. If they improved the flavor of the meat, it would have made a lot of difference to the meal. All-in-all, I might go back.
Ate outside and it was pretty nice (a little dark inside). Ate the beef and chicken fajita combo for two and the chicken was great! Ratings below. Fix-ins: 9 Chicken: 8.5 Beef: 3 Chips and salsa: 7 Rice and beans: 4
Just got home from picking up 40 something dollars worth of food plus a tip and opened up our boxes to joke sized and cold quesadillas. Got there right on eta pickup time as well. Who makes $14 quesadillas with small tortillas? Is this the child size? There’s about 2 pounds of condiments in each box for about 6 oz of whatever you wanna call these tiny things that certainly are not a restaurant quality quesadilla. This is clearly the cooks not caring at all about to-go orders like so many joke cooks do. Would have had a better experience at Taco Bell. At least it would be warm. Maybe even hot. Do better.
If you’re hungry in Austin for Tex Mex, drive to San Antonio. We drove in from SA for work and after going to a bunch of places that were closed, we stopped in here and the first thing that stuck out to me was how dark it was. Walking through the restaurant it was strange how some spots are warm then cold. The tortillas were cold and chewy. The carne guisada was tough and no amount of salsa, salt and pepper was going to save this meal. I had just the basic crunchy taco because everything else didn’t seem fresh.
I wish I could rate it less than one star honestly!! If you have younger children this place is NOT the place for you! My 9 month old was being vocal and the manager came to my table and requested if he could get my child some food (mind you he is 9 months old and I’m feeding him in slow smaller portions) so he could be less vocal ! I asked for my check multiple times He kept trying to reason I took my 2 children and left the establishment and WILL NOT BE RETURNING!! I just as the other lady who complained about it am a paying costumer if you aren’t kid friendly POST THAT ON THE DOOR !
Service and atmosphere are fine, but I ordered the $15 chimichanga and it was 90% tortilla with a can or green enchilada sauce poured over it. The tortilla on a chimichanga is usually deep fried, but here it was like a burrito and no stuffing, like the chicken I ordered. It was terrible, but it seems everyone has lowered their quality at the same time. The chips are 100% amazing. So if youre looking to get bombed on drinks and snack on chips go ahead, but not a serious place for something to eat, in my opinion, unless youre some kind of feral animal. I blame the owner and cost cutting procedures.
The absolute worst restaurant in Austin/Cedar Park! Zero stars with 2 👎 would be most appropriate, honestly. As soon as you enter the place, it’s cold and dark, the restrooms are disgustingly dirty, very dark and creepy also, my kids were actually afraid when they went in to wash their hands. There was also a waiter that sat at a stall for a few minutes and then left without washing his hands 🤢 The frozen margaritas, are juiced down with orange juice giving the taste and color, a restaurant taking these many short cuts is definitely abusive to the customer. All the food here is either canned or frozen. You can see, and taste the horrible quality. The chile relleno, is an egg batter coated poblano that is fried a la minute served with a sauce, what we had here was something that was previously fried, and then re heated and then served in a pool of sauce, wow imagine the sogginess 🤮. The fries that were served to our kiddos, were all clumped up together, and the restaurant will tell you that it’s because in the fryer that tends to happen. Seriously 😒 no! The fries, are frozen, they were left out at an inappropriate temperature, so they thawed, they then get placed back in the freezer and refrozen back together, then they get cooked all together. Major health issue when food goes in and out of their needed temperature, I imagine what other foods are not being kept safe. A safety food inspection would be ideal for this restaurant. I, as a professional cook and a mother would not advise for you to bring your family here. Spend that hard earned money elsewhere. Let not even begin on service and staff, this review could be twice as long but let’s just leave it at that.
