Ordered online for delivery 30 mins before closing - got a nice amount of food, the food was absolutely amazing, all utensils sauces everything was hot! Every time I order from this place it’s the best!!!!
Amazingly good. I had rad reviews and it was everything people said. Delicious. Won ton soup flavorful, meals come with egg rolls of spring rolls, steamed or fried rice, soup and/or Crab Rangoon. We had Gen TSO's chicken and Shrimp with Zgarlic says. Great portion sizes. We are glad to have a Chinese food place near us.
The only good Chinese takeout new Braunfels/ Seguin area has. Everything has good flavor, panko breading, and my fried rice is actually fried rice with veggies. Hot and sour soup is good!
The owner and staff are friendly and happy to serve Their sweet tea is good, right sweetness but not too sweet or bad aftertaste Egg drop soup is spot on And the chicken egg foo young, half order, with white rice was fantastic. I can only imagine how hungry you would have to be to eat a full order. Definitely best egg foo young I’ve had ever. I felt the portions were great and perfect for a good lunch, I had to sit a second before I could move Prices are cheaper and quantity are better than any fast food options around
The food here is great. Their kung pao is really good. Staff is friendly and always smiling. Online ordering is really easy and convenient. Their pick up time is spot on. 5 stars is not enough to rate this place!
Went to Happy Dragon for dinner, had the chicken lemongrass. The dish was amazing the rice soft and full of flavor. You have to add broccoli. Best lemongrass I've had. The price was on point. The portion size is generous. The food came out fast. The staff was very friendly. Overall would definitely recommend.
OMGSH…… talk about getting their act together: been to this restaurant a few times since they’ve opened over the years and has been okay. Yesterday’s lunch (triple delight) was out of this world!!!!!!! I’m originally from New York City and know good Chinese food and I want to tell you my lunch yesterday would’ve easily competed with the best restaurant in Chinatown in NYC —-absolutely spectacular!!!!!!! My waiter Caleb was also wonderful: service, friendliness, caring, and accommodating. (when I commented on how good the food was comparative to years past, he shared that the owner has made conscious efforts to improve things: MAN WAS IT EVIDENT!!!!!!! BRAVO HAPPY DRAGON….KEEP THIS PACE UP AND YOU WLL SOON NEED A BIGGER SPACE;)
If you're on the hunt for takeout that hits all the right notes, look no further than Happy Dragon Chinese Restaurant. Their sweet and sour chicken is a crispy delight, perfectly fried to achieve that satisfying crunch with every bite, while the tangy sauce adds just the right amount of zing. And let’s not forget the cashew chicken—it's bursting with flavor, featuring tender chicken pieces and crunchy cashews that create a delightful texture contrast. Every dish is made fresh, flavorful, and ready to take home, making it a great place to get some great meals to go.
Stopped in for a bite and the service was friendly and quick. Tried the veggie egg foo young - crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside - and the portion was HUGE! Husband enjoyed the beef and broccoli lunch and the wonton soup, and the veggie spring rolls were nice and crispy. Come and enjoy a tasty lunch for a reasonable price!
I recently tried the new wing special that comes with 6 bone-in wings and fries, and I have to say it was definitely worth the price. The portion of fries was generous, though they could’ve used a little more salt and they weren’t fully cooked. Still, they were decent overall. The wings, on the other hand, were delicious — easily the highlight of the meal. I also ordered the sweet and sour pork, but that dish was a bit disappointing. The pork itself didn’t really have any flavor, and I found myself relying on the sauce just to make it enjoyable. It definitely could’ve been better. Despite the issues, the price wasn’t bad at all — about $25 for everything — so I feel like I still got a fair deal. With a few improvements, this place could be great. Also the guy in front that was in charge of taking orders, definitely did a fenominal job.
The food was okay, I don’t think we will be going back though. While the crab rangoons were very good, and the pad Thai I ordered was pretty good, the sesame chicken my husband ordered was inedible. There were so many bad pieces, gross tendons, fat, just WAYY too many for it to be acceptable. It made the overall experience quite horrible and he ended up losing his appetite.
Probably will not go back. The General Tso's chicken was okay, not very spicy. The shrimp in the Sweet and Sour Shrimp were yummy and big, but the sauce had a weird aftertaste. The Egg Rolls were okay, but sadly, the fried rice was very dry with not much flavor. They forgot to bring us our soups; so we got our other food first. The soups were good, though. Tables weren't bussed, and customers had to ask for tables to be cleaned.
The food is inconsistent this is the second time I’ve gotten pad thai and there is no sauce or anything it’s just dry and doesn’t taste like anything. Normally they have a decent amount of sauce but lately whoever is making it has barely been seasoning it. Was super disappointed overall.
The restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was mid. Staff appeared to have some internal issues that I was able to listen to. Food was yuck. How do you mess up orange chicken?!? It looked like a botched sweet and sour chicken with chunky funky sauce. What's funny is that if the food was fire, I wouldn't care about anything else, it would be charm at that point. But that food is straight up offensive. Should've went to firehouse subs. Uncle Roger would've fell out of his chair. Hi-yaahhhhhhh
I came in to make a to go order. The girl Emp#460, never smiled or greeted me with anything but a surly face. She rang up my order and didn’t speak where I could understand her. Then when my order was ready, I asked about the soup in the bag, she acted really disgusted that I asked for the position of the soup. Which was a reasonable question since I was driving it home, and didn’t want it to spill. She had horrible customer service, and it’s about time people start letting companies know how customers are treated. I can always spend my money elsewhere. And I do let friends and family know my experiences. Not sure if I’ll be back. Food there is just okay at best for take out.
This is the fourth order with discrepancies. Today, I ordered two double orders of fried dumplings for delivery. A single order is 8 per container so a double order is 16 per container. Delivered was one double order. I called back to get the other double order of 16 and the guy that answered said he would have them right out. I asked how the order got messed up and he said I should've just said I like four orders, they couldn't understand what a double order is. He laughed at me and said I was being "rude." I said I would write up a Google review and he said that really doesn't matter, they "really don't pay attention to those." He laughed again. I asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager. He apparently lied. Whan the second delivery came, I asked who the manager is, and he said "Sara" was the general manager. Previously, I ordered so.e General Tso's chicken for my wife and what arrived was something hot enough to burn in the boilers of a battleship. On yet another order, I ordered two ordered of fried dumplings and received one fried and one boiled. So much for the "excellent" perfor.ers manning the front end: incompetent, does not comprehend plain English aove the sixth grade-level and one of them, Caleb Matthew Jackson lied and said he was the G. instead of Sara. I guess there are other Chinese restaurants in New Braunfels that are more attentive with better service.
Apparently they do not like when you cash in rewards. After spending 100s of dollars here, I decided to use my $10 reward on my last order. And I do mean LAST order. I ordered chicken and broccoli ala cart which feeds 2, according to the menu. And it usually does. But today they sent me a half order at best! I dont appreciate being ripped off. Learn how to treat your customers. Its fast food garbage that shouldn't be eating anyway, so I guess I should say thanks?
I ordered from Happy dragon through Uber eats and receive my order late. Well that happened sometimes the main problem I had was that I ordered the by one get one free chicken fried rice and only received one. When I explained it to the driver he said to call the store. When I call the store they told me that their laptop only stated one I only ordered one despite the fact that I know for a fact I received two because when you click the order says add to which I will add the picture below to show. I insisted that I requested two but they said just called Uber beacause they can't help me. The lady for the stated that she can only go based off of what the iPad said. If the iPad is following the Uber app which is the same app they have on there and there's no way it could have said one. As seen in the pictures below. Clearly they made an error rather than or not to the error they lied about it. If you're looking for Chinese you're probably better off going somewhere else since you'll probably get better service there especially if your ordering takeout.
I ordered from Happy Dragon through DoorDash. My order was “being prepared by the restaurant” for almost an hour. I contacted DoorDash Support to see if I could cancel it but couldn’t because it was still in the time window even though there was like 2 minutes before the window ended. Randomly the delivery driver shows up at my place awhile later, waiting at the door until I opened it. I specifically had Leave at Door selected on DoorDash because my dog barks really bad. I was not given any of the DoorDash updates like order on the way, driver is near, anything. Even long after the food was delivered, it still showed on the app that my order was being prepared by the restaurant. I asked DoorDash how to change that and they said I should cancel it or call the restaurant to cancel it. I did not use DoorDash to have to call the restaurant and deal with them not using the app correctly so I just canceled it on my end. The only option was to get a refund. I get a call from the restaurant which I did not answer. I then get a text from an employee from his personal number to mine asking why I canceled the order and how I am never allowed to order from there again. Not only was the food disgusting, this customer service is unacceptable. Don’t use a delivery service if you’re not going to use it properly. I use DoorDash all the time and never had an issue like this that wasn’t restaurant error. Update- the Manager did call me to apologize for my experience which was nice of her to do.
I've been a weekly customer from this restaurant and i don't think I would ever come back. I just ordered Cashew Chicken and when I opened the bag where the fork is...a delightful roach was there staring at me. Of course i came back to the restaurant to return it and the Manager (or the owner, I don't know) gave me a petty and tasteless "im sorry". Some things are just inexcusable in a restaurant. A pathetic apology for such disgusting find it's just a reflection of who these people really are inside of that kitchen. If I found one roach in a bag, just imagine how the infestation is. Do not apologize, fix your disgusting kitchen! ******************* PLEASE READ I am pleased to inform to all the people who read my previous review that today 09-26 I received a very warm and human telephone call from the owner. He took the time to call me and you can tell he put a lot of effort to find my phone number, kuddos for that! I appreciated the fact that his response came from the heart and he is very intended to fix the issue. This is a very important step to doing the right thing. He already called a pest control company and also explained me that as clean as his restaurant is, he also depends on 3rd party vendors who can bring some unwanted pests with them at no fault of Happy Dragon Restaurant. His explanation was, above all, very satisfactory and sincere. I understand that sometimes things happen, especially when this stuff is out of their control. Sir, you are a gentleman and an excellent human being, I can assure you that I believe in second chances. In the past I never encountered any issues and the food was ALWAYS fresh and served with a warm smile.I will go back and also will invite some of my colleagues and customers to come and support this local business. Thank you for your humbleness and perfect timed apology. God Bless you, let's put all of this behind us and move forward 🙏
The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the red headed young man who worked the register was one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met. Other than that the food was absolutely horrible and disgusting. Dried and old. Not fresh NOT AUTHENTIC. Garlic chicken was the only thing that was barely mediocre but even that did not taste right or authentic. Calling this place “Chinese” is some sort of twisted joke. The wontons were cold and definitely come frozen from a box. Even Panda Express is better and we all know Panda Express is not real Chinese. I am extremely disappointed and annoyed. They tried to replace the orange chicken and sesame chicken that was so dried and old that all we had on the plate was the fried crumbles covered in sauce there was 3 pieces of chicken that was actually chicken. The beef and broccoli tasted and had the consistency of rubber. The lemon grass chicken had an entire onion chopped up with thin small pieces of chicken. This was one of the worst meals I’ve had in my 26 years of living. Worst restaurant in New Braunfels. Do not waste your money this is not good at all. The only thing I will say is that the young man was so polite, sweet and kind he was the only good thing that came out of this experience I hope he makes it far. But this place has 0 stars from me.
