I went here with my mother on Sunday February 8th, and we both had an amazing dinner and experience! I don’t remember the hosts name but he was the most hilarious and friendly man. Our server Chloe was literally the sweetest person on the planet! We had the scallop appetizer to start, amazing! The blackened fish as my entrée was perfect! My mother loved the steak…. 10/10 Would recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing New Orleans themed dinner out. Of course We also went upstairs to look at the lounge and balcony. Honestly I would go back to New Orleans just to visit this restaurant.

Absolutely incredible food. Well worth it. No wait as we made reservations. We were able to go upstairs take photos the haunted history of the previous owner an incredible place to visit and a must see. The staffing, waiters, waitresses were top-notch as we waited for nothing.

Tourist review! Beautiful place, ambiance is out of this world. One of my bestfriends recommended it. From the moment you walk in, the dining rooms, balcony, to the lounge rooms, even the bathrooms are beautiful. The attention to detail is amazing. The food was also delicious and service was great. (Although, I wouldn’t ask for bottled water.. they give you a plastic bottle of Fiji water LOL.) This will be the first place I tell anyone about if they ask me about New Orleans. I will be back.

Muriel’s is truly a gem in every way. The scallops were fresh and tasty. My favorite dish was the Tasso carbonara, rich and full of flavor. The pork chops were well-seasoned and satisfying. The bread pudding was excellent—sweet, warm, and comforting. The service was awesome, with a friendly and attentive staff that made the meal even better. A wonderful place for a delicious and memorable dining experience.

We spent the last week of December in NOLA and had an incredible dinner at Muriel’s. My husband and I both chose the Table d’Hôte menu, and honestly, it was a great decision. The Turtle Soup and the Shrimp and Goat Cheese Crêpes were absolutely delicious. For our mains, we had the Shrimp and Grits and the Pecan-Crusted Drum, both were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and genuinely memorable. We finished with the Bread Pudding (that rum sauce… wow) and the Pecan Tart, and they were the perfect end to the night. Beyond the food, the vibe was great. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the price felt very fair for how much we got and how good everything was. If you’re in the French Quarter, definitely put Muriel’s on your list. I already want to go back!

We had an excellent dining experience during our visit in August. Our waitress was phenomenal and extremely down to earth and welcoming. Every dish was rich and flavorful, layered with soul and flavors. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. We appreciated being able to explore and get good pictures throughout!

Muriel's Jackson Square is a true gem in the French quarter. The moment you walk in your greeted by a space that's wonderfully decorated warm and inviting yet with a charm that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect blend of comfort and history we only stopped in for drinks but they were crafted to perfection. Every sip reflected attention to detail in quality. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming making the experience even more enjoyable. Even though we didn't dine here the atmosphere and service alone guaranteed that will be back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a spot that combines Elegance hospitality and a touch of New Orleans Magic.

Muriel’s Jackson Square is a restaurant that clearly takes excellence seriously—not only in its food, but in every aspect of the experience. From the moment you arrive, the quality of the service, the attention to detail, and the professionalism of the staff set the tone for what follows. The recipes are thoughtfully executed, the wine selection is carefully curated, and the way dishes are paired and presented shows real culinary intention. Every course feels balanced and purposeful, and the desserts are simply outstanding—refined, memorable, and perfectly timed to close the meal. Muriel’s is not just a great restaurant; it is a place that truly honors the spirit and legacy of New Orleans cuisine. Dining here feels like a tribute to NOLA’s gastronomic tradition, elevated with elegance and consistency.

I stopped in here for a solo dinner while visiting New Orleans and I'm so glad I did. The service was excellent, and the staff all made excellent drink and food recommendations. All the food I ordered was very good, but the pork chops were absolutely delicious (maybe the best pork chops I've ever eaten?). Go for the prix fixe menu if you have the time and the appetite for three courses! They also have a pretty good wine selection and their cocktails were unique and delicious!

Fantastic do not miss the turtle soup. Everything on the menu is wonderful including the cocktails. goat cheese and crawfish crêpes for dessert, pecan crusted, red fish for dinner. We all split a crème brûlée a bread pudding as well.

Ladies, make sure you’ve got shapewear on because you’re gonna need it! This 👏🏻 place 👏🏻 was 👏🏻 INCREDIBLE👏🏻 My group went here for dinner for my best friend’s birthday and man, they did not disappoint! I had the wild mushroom gnocchi then duck and it was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfectly moist. My husband had the pork chops and omg did he make himself hurt devouring them. Worth it. Lastly, we had the bread pudding and holy cow, I could eat that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’d made a reservation prior and didn’t have to wait long. Not drunk but just a klutz and spilled water everywhere (so embarrassing) but the wait staff was super nice about it. Our waiter was great and didn’t rush us to make our selections and even helped with recommendations. After dinner, we wandered around and got to see the seance room, upstairs, and the balcony overlooking Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral. It was absolutely stunning. Everyone should check this out while they’re in NOLA.

What an amazing dinner experience at the heart of French Quarter. We got to tour the unique establishment before and after our dinner, it has a very cool jazz vibe. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The Turtle soup au Sherry, the Shrimp and grits, Pecan crusted drum are excellent. The menu choice is limited but I can't wait to try everything else they have to offer. Would definitely return!

OMG! I found out about this venue from the Real Housewives of Orange County.. and reserved a table. Met Randall, the maitre d, who was amazing! The venue was incredible.. a hidden gem.. I was here 2 years ago and never knew about them. So, I recommend you look them up.. Sofia and Liv were a great team as our servers! Food was delicious and the service was outstanding!

We took the 59$ course menu. It was really a pleasant meal the whole way. Everything was good and refined. Pork chop was cooked perfectly and fosh delicate. The desserts were top notch with a shout out to the pain perdu which is the best ine I’ve tasted.

Perfect dinner for NYE. Arrived on time for reservation and was fast to get table assigned. Wine was so good, pork and filet minon in their point. Any desert you pick won’t be wrong. Very recommend.

Jazz brunch was great, listening to live music. They stop at each table individually and play for you. Service was quick and professional. Reasonable prices and great experience in the French quarter by Jackson Square! Loaded baked potato soup was delicious. Pesto linguine with shrimp was flavorful.

Food was AMAZING! They have a smaller menu but each item is perfectly curated and crafted. Great drink menu as well. Chloe and Caleb were our servers and they were EXCELLENT. Every single staff member we came in contact with was spectacular.

This was our first time here, but it won’t be the last. From the atmosphere, the wait staff of Caleb and Chloe, to the food, it was wonderful. My husband ordered from the price fix menus and I ordered from the regular one. Everything was cooked perfectly and served impeccably. So glad we celebrated our anniversary there. We look forward to visiting again.

My husband and I were visiting from Greenville, SC and we made reservations to Muriel’s. We were intrigued with the history and the lore of the restaurant being haunted. We had great service at the bar and enjoyed our cocktails on the balcony and then we enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal. Our waiter, Joel and waitress Anna were phenomenal. Joel was incredibly welcoming and hilarious. Anna was so nice and hospitable. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Muriel’s was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time! The host was such a lively and fun guy! The bartender was super helpful when I didn’t know what I wanted and was excited to be a little experimental and made me an AMAZING peach martini. The servers were super attentive and kind. And the food was off the charts!! The shrimp and grits were absolute fire! I highly recommend!

This was an attractive restaurant with multiple areas to choose from. There are a couple main dining areas each with their own decor and style. A downstairs full service bar. An upstairs private dine area, another bar, wine room and a seating area in brothel style decor. The prices were fair. The staff were friendly. The food was good. The drinks were ok.

I am a local, but it gladdens me when a “touristy” restaurant is actually good. This place has a good menu, their 3 course meal was fantastic and it is fairly priced. The place is supposed to be haunted (if you believe in those things), which added a very nice touch to my dinner. Service could’ve been a little bit better, but overall no complaints.

My blackened redfish was excellent. My wife's filet mignon was good, but cooked a little more than ordered. Oh well. It happens. I also started with the gumbo and finished with the bread pudding.

Absolutely beautiful ambiance. I love that they had a prefixed menu. The drinks were delicious & reasonably priced. Very nice to take pictures. I recommend going upstairs to view their seance. It’s only for events but you’re able to view it and browse around. There’s also an open balcony you can sit and relax in. The staff were incredible!!! I cannot recommend enough, a must if visiting Nola

Muriel’s Restaurant in New Orleans was an amazing experience. The food was great! The staff are wonderful and the whole restaurant is beautiful. This was my 1st time going in the restaurant. The amazing staff named Joel (I think that’s his name) He is the best waiter I have ever been served by. He is kind, helpful, very funny with a great sense of humour and also he was giving me some travel tips in New Orleans. This restaurant is the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. The food was so delicious I have to say the chef in the kitchen is doing a great job with the food. When I return to New Orleans again, I will definitely go back to Muriel’s. 10/10 a perfect restaurant. The 1st floor is also worth visiting.

Went for Saturday brunch. Incredible everything. Food. Atmosphere. Service. All 5 stars. Goat cheese crepes. Turtle soup. Fried green romatoes. Veal and grits. Bananas foster. Shrimp and grits. They were all fantastic.

Everything about this restaurant was good if not great. The decoration, china and silver, service and food. Loved the interior design of this place. The service was professional and quick ( it could be friendlier but no complaints.) I had the set menu and I chose turtle soup, shrimp and grits and their famous bread budding. Turtle soup was good, shrimp and grits outstanding and the bread budding was a bit too sweet for my taste. Maybe I had overly high expectations for the dessert from the other reviews. All in all a lovely place and a delicious meal.

Randall near the door is five stars in themselves and is the entire reason the rating is so high. We came here on our honeymoon. The waitress was seemingly overextended and in consequence off putting but we won’t fault her for it because it was a packed house. We came to see the ghost table and left with having done so, and also had the best crème brûlée of our lives. This place is a vibe (We <3 Randall)

Wonderful experience at musicals last week. Chose Muriel's for a friend's birthday dinner and we weren't disappointed. Everything was amazing and we left completely stuffed. From the gumbo through the pork chop, fish, shrimp and grits to the dessert. It was an amazing night. We also ordered family style and shared amongst the adults so we all got to try each dish. Was great as we only had one night for a great dinner.

We ate here our first night in New Orleans and was not disappointed. The food, atmosphere, and service was amazing. I had the shrimp and grits and it was the best meal I had all weekend. The bread pudding was also fantastic. Great selection of drinks and mocktails. I’d recommend the Strawberry Palmer. After dinner, we were able to sit upstairs on the balcony that looks out onto Jackson Square. I’d recommend booking reservations online to avoid lines and waiting.

The server was excellent and the food was very good. The hostess that greeted us was not friendly, like we were bothering her. And then she and another woman employee were yelling at each other by the main entrance. Probably Mardi Gras burnout, but it was not pleasant.

My son and I made advanced online reservations for a weekday dinner at 5:30 pm. We picked Muriel’s because they offered the 4-course Reveillon 2025 exclusive menu, only available for 23 days in December. We were seated immediately at a low-top table in one of the lower dining rooms. I noticed they did not have table linens, and the silverware was rolled rather than set. We had alternating servers who were professional but not personable. All four courses were exquisite, from the turtle soup to the lamb. Unfortunately, the enjoyment was spoiled by a large party near us celebrating a birthday. They were loud and obnoxious, acting like they were at a sports bar on bourbon, not at an upscale restaurant that required collared shirts and cost $100+ a person. My son mentioned it to one of the managers, and he just apologized and nothing else. I would have appreciated it if he had spoken with the table or moved us to a quieter part of the restaurant. They did not miss on the food. It was excellent. They missed the experience, which would cause me not to return. Please do not portray yourself as refined and upscale, and then back it up.

The food was good, the desert was great. The staff is wonderful. Now the bad. Ordering $55 Filet medium rare and getting it close to well done was disappointing to say the least. To be honest, I should have sent it back but I hate doing that. My wife got the three course meal and she gave it an A+, I tasted the grits and shrimp and it is among the best i have ever had. Great location, great atmosphere and history in this building.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 out of 5) We’re visiting from California for the weekend, and Muriel’s at Jackson Square made for a great spot for a fancy date night or a special dinner in New Orleans. The four of us arrived for dinner, and I’d definitely recommend making a reservation—it gets busy, especially on weekends. It happened to be Restaurant Week, and they were offering a 3-course prix fixe menu for around $55. We opted instead for the chef’s special prix fixe menu that featured locally grown tomatoes, which I thought was the better choice. One nice perk: they allow two people to share a prix fixe menu, so my wife and I shared one, and it was just the right amount of food with a little bit of everything. The atmosphere is beautiful and classic New Orleans—elegant but not stuffy. Compared to our dinner the night before at Commander’s Palace, though, the service here wasn’t quite as polished. The staff took away our utensils between courses but didn’t always replace them right away, which left us waiting at times. When dessert arrived, they brought new spoons, but it would’ve been a nice touch to clear and tidy the table beforehand. Still, overall it was a lovely experience. Great flavors, thoughtful menu, and a beautiful setting right in the heart of the French Quarter.

We were seated right away abandoned they acknowledged our anniversary, which was sweet. Turtle soup was delicious. Good selection of drinks and mocktails. The blackened redfish was cooked perfectly and red pepper sauce was chef's kiss! The duck on the other hand was not hot or even warm. It was chewy and tough. It was dry and needed more of the au jus. Creme brulee was amazing, complementary bread pudding was ok, but not the nest we've had. Atmosphere was beautiful, but loud, larger tables near us were extremely loud.

Nicely curated old-world Creole restaurant in the heart of Jackson Square. The shrimp and grits are nicely prepared and very tasty. The prix-fixe menu is a terrific buy as it includes an appetizer, entree and dessert that are all well-prepared,

The hostesses were extremely pleasant and accommodating, really loved how kind they were. I ordered the sugarcane festival 3-course meal. First course was amazing. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, sauce was great. French bread was soft and tasted excellent dipped in the sauce. Second course was not to my liking. Ribs and mashed potatoes were cold. Mashed potatoes had no flavor at all and tasted like instant. Unfortunately, I did not eat this portion of courses. Third course, the pineapple upside down cake was fabulous. Waitress seemed very friendly, although not towards me. I wondered if that were due to me being a solo diner, but, another solo diner arrived next to my table and she was very conversational toward him. A shame because I wanted to see if my food could be heated up, but by the time she came around, I was ready to go.

Tries to go to Herbsaint but it was booked. My local friend said at least muriels is huge and good chance to get a seat. We all had the three course table de hotel menu. Turtle soup ok, drum pretty good , it was heavily pecan crusted, too many pecans for me but that wasn't a big deal, the greens underneath were excellent and the sauce was outstanding. The duck was ok. The pork was very very good, the Tasso marinara was surprisingly good. I love the inside decor esp the huge map in the bathroom. The hosts for excellent but the waitress was a little too slick -- we noticed a problem with a bill and when we brought it up the rerun it and explained everything to us in a way that made me more suspicious of the first problem which I had initially assumed was an oversight. It's just a certain kind of quick powder people use to confuse drunk people and since we weren't drunk and still confused I'm not sure exactly what happened but I had a weird instinct a out it. I'm glad I tried it and got to go inside but I probably won't be going back

M
Miles Walz-Salvador

Food was okay. Nothing super special for the prices. It worth a single try but I wouldn't want to foot the bill of we would be going again. Best food was the lamb empanadas and creme brulee. Everything else was just okay.

The food and service were impeccable. Unfortunately, our dining experience was marred by the actions of one person. I booked the ghost table months in advance for my daughter’s 21st birthday dinner. This table is reserved for the resident ghost and is tucked under the stairs to the entrance of the seance lounge. About halfway through our dinner, a young lady opened an outside door and was just standing there. This is not the main entrance to the restaurant. As it was 40 degrees outside, we asked her to close the door so we could enjoy our meal without freezing. She said she couldn’t close the door as she was waiting for a group that would be going up to the Seance Room for a private event. 15 more minutes pass with the door still open and no group in sight. By this time, we are freezing and ask her again if she could simply close the door until they arrived since she was standing right there. Really, how hard would this have been? She got belligerent and went to get the manager. The manager came over, we explained the issue, and he told her to close the door until the group arrived. This certainly put a damper on what was supposed to be a special evening.

If youre looking for a beautiful dinner spot with amazing atmosphere and history, look no further. This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, has lots of New Orleans history, amazing food, delicious drinks, and great staff. You can have a fancy night on the town or go in jeans and a tee shirt. I had the Vampire's Kiss drinks which were to die for (pardon the pun), and then they altered a pasta recipe to make my dinner vegetarian friendly. Loved it so much!

Lovely restaurant with an amazing menu. Our group visited Muriel’s for the first time this weekend and immediately loved the beautifully decorated Christmas tree—such a festive touch. Unfortunately, our meat selections were significantly overcooked (the beef, pork, and lamb shank), and one steak had to be returned. Situations like that interrupt the meal and introduce an awkward element that shouldn’t occur at a restaurant requiring a credit card to secure a reservation. Service was mixed: the gentleman who took our drink order was friendly and helpful, while the server for our dinner felt rushed and did not enhance the experience. That said, the drinks, wine, and desserts were excellent, and the wedge salad was easily the best in the Quarter. Overall, Muriel’s has great potential, but the kitchen and service execution need refinement to match the restaurant’s reputation.

R
Rahat Ahmed

Very underwhelming experience. We started off with lipstick on my water glass, which immediately set the tone. The seafood gumbo and wedge salad were lackluster, and the fried green tomatoes with shrimp were drowned in sauce, making them hard to enjoy. The catfish was actually pretty good and the live jazz was a nice touch and probably the saving grace of the evening, but overall, for our first stop in New Orleans, I left wishing I could have that experience back.

S
Sol Invictus

The food was good, but the service was not great. The waitress rushed us through the courses even though we had barely finished the previous one, and she was barely polite when asked questions. It's a shame, as the atmosphere is lovely and the rest of the staff was welcoming.

L
Liza Martin

If you want rude hostesses and bartenders but good atmosphere and food, well this is your place. Love the history but I would clean house on the entire staff that is outward facing….except for Bryan. no experience with the kitchen staff. Food was great!!! Everything else sucked! Including drinks. But… I did watch Bryan hand stuff my olives for my martini and that was cool. Go Bryan!
