Avaliações de The Parish New Paltz
Nicest restaurant in new paltz, with the best view of the mountains in town. The staff is friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. Honestly the best quality food served in new paltz. There something for everyone on the menu. Matt and Kerry are amazing as well as the whole parish family. I highly recommend The Parish to first timers, the locals already know why.❤️ Matt’s signature cocktail’s are amazing if you just want a warm drink (alcohol or alcohol free) in the winter, or cold one in the summer, you can’t beat the selection.
Cajun food in New Paltz NY? I was skeptical, but what we had was terrific! That night the only exception was the jambalaya which seemed overcooked and dry. But everything else was great, the five of us had a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. Too full for dessert. Next time! Easy parking, inside and outside deck seating options.
The choices are unique compared to other restaurants. The food was very tasty. I had the black bean burger which was excellent. It had a little too much sauce but the sauce was so good. My wife had the jambalaya which was tasty but the chicken was a little tough. Overall we had a great experience and this was our second time here. The service was very friendly. They lowered the air conditioning when we requested and were very polite and helpful.
One of the BEST restaurants in upstate NY! Tasty food with nice size portions, and accommodating staff. If you’re in the mood for savory, hearty, and southern charm, this is the place for you. “New Orleans” like atmosphere, Decadent and delicious southern-styled food with exotic drinks. My friends and I tried it for the first time, and we’re already making plans to go back. WHY SO? Well for one, although the employees were not expecting a party of 8 people, ( due to the small size of the restaurant ), they were quickly accommodating and arranged for outdoor seating with the large outdoor umbrella to provide shade and a bit of privacy on such a hot day. The waitress Lily, as well as the manager, regularly checked in on us to see if there was anything we needed. I highly recommend!!!
The place is cute. And the town is even cuter with adorable artsy, witchy, mystical and Tibetan wares. We walked through the cute town of New Palz and then sat for iconically cajun cuisine: gumbo and jambalaya. It was spectacular! Phenomenal! The taste was outstanding. Sure the chicken was on the dry side but I still enjoyed because the seasoning was just perfect. I loved that on a 85 degree day they did not have the ac blasting at 60 degrees like they do in the city. Here, it was a comfortable 73,74- just the right temperature to cool down without freezing. I also loved that they did not serve their water with ice.
After our hike in Minnewaska State Park and strolling through the Antiques Barn, my wife and I spent our 2nd Wedding Anniversary dinner here at The Parish. At first, we thought it was just a tavern, but surprisingly as soon as the doors were open, we are amazed by the immediate greeting and the delicious smell. Paulina was very nice, attentive, and simply awesome in serving us and explaining the specials of that evening. We enjoyed both our Chicken and Steak Specials along with our drinks and dessert! We highly recommend this gem!
Well didn't we fall lucky? We were heading to a different place for lunch but it was closed. Lucky for us that, ( and a delicious aroma, ) led us to this "one of a kind find!" When the locals offer you a mouthful of their delicious choices, no televisions, just views from the bar like no other, fantastic service topped off with the best meal out we in a long time, you know we'll be back for sure. Hope to see you there, and don't worry, we will pay it forward! Yummmmmmm.
The dining experience at The Parish in New Paltz was nothing short of a culinary delight. The journey began with a trio of appetizers that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The Chicken Wings were bursting with flavor, the Gator Bites were superbly executed, and the Fried Okra was a delightful crispy treat. Moving on to the mains, both the Gumbo and Jambalaya struck the perfect balance of spice, delivering an authentic taste of the South. The well-crafted dishes showcased a mastery of flavors that left our taste buds thoroughly satisfied. Our server, Paulina, played a crucial role in enhancing our overall experience. Her attentiveness and courteous service added a personal touch to the evening, making us feel well taken care of throughout our meal. The Parish's commitment to quality ingredients and skilled preparation was evident in every dish, creating a dining experience that exceeded our expectations. The ambiance, a mix of southern charm and welcoming warmth, provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. In conclusion, The Parish at New Paltz is a culinary gem that deserves high praise. From the flavorful starters to the perfectly spiced main courses, every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. I wholeheartedly recommend The Parish to anyone seeking a taste of the South in a welcoming and delightful setting. We left with satisfied palates and a strong desire to return for more.
Had a meal at the bar, and even on a Saturday night, there was still no delay in service. Really engaging and fun staff, and a good selection of options for food. Had their jambalaya and it was delicious! Great drink selections as well (beer, wine, cocktails, etc.) Small place, but the atmosphere makes it really cozy and relaxing. Good recommendation for some casual Cajun food. If it's nice outside, I also recommend sitting on their outside patio.
Tucked away upstairs on the second floor is a jewel of a restaurant. Great service, fresh delicious and well presented, reasonable prices. Cocktails were fantastic and imaginative. Not too hot, or overspiced, with options for vegans and meat eaters as well. Indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the halibut special... Perfectly cooked fish over asparagus and blackened baby potatoes topped with frizzled garlic scrapes, side of blackened string beans. Don't miss this wonderful place for a great meal. Gator bites!... Po' boys! Great New Orleans food!!!
A solid 4 out of 5, with more hits than misses. + We called ahead, said we were 15 minutes away, and were promptly seated with a choice of indoor or out. It was a beautiful Memorial Day Monday, so we opted for outside. - We waited a little longer than necessary for our waitperson to come to our table. She apologized in that she hadn't seen us get seated. + Waitperson was helpful, friendly, and even fun, too. Great service after a slow start. + The okra bites appetizer was plentiful, perfectly seasoned, and the dipping sauce wonderful. +/- The crab cake sandwich was good, but not great. The burger was the same. It was a good meal, but fell a little short of 'wow, we've got to come back here again soon.' + The key lime pie was tasty, especially the crust. All in all, a solid 4 out of 5. The waitstaff made the experience great.
Ate here 2/13. Service our server was great. Atmosphere is pretty chill. Food was good and had a nice flavour. I got a side salad, alligator bites, and a cup of gumbo Portions are decent. The only reason for the point deduction is some of the prices are a bit much (the one that stood out the most was $11 for mac and cheese (?!) And I think the brownie dessert is $15) Misc: they need to update their menu on their website because some of the prices are shown do not match the menu you are given. Esp important if you budget your money Misc#2: Forgot to take a picture before removing all the sliced carrots to the side. Everything is mixed in (I forgot to tell them no carrots so that's my fault)
Came here for lunch after hiking in Mohonk - the overall town is cute and has lots going on, and this restaurant is perched above them giving you a good view. Food is okay but not memorable, especially since a lot of the food lacks seasoning including the jambalaya. Service is friendly but do note that outdoor seating is vulnerable to weather and their shelter is limited.
I come to New York from New Orleans Uptown 17. I went to this restaurant on Valentine's day 2026 with my friend. I was curious about the food's ingredients and how it is prepped. Since New Orleans is my home, I am very versed on authentic cuisine. I began to ask questions to get a better understanding of the menu, and the waiter and host became very tense. I wanted to know what brand of red bean do they use to prepare the red beans dish. Frank, the waiter says, "we use a kidney bean". This response would be funny to NOLA natives because kidney refers to the TYPE of bean not the BRAND. I knew something was wrong, but could not put my finger on it. Next, I wanted to know how the gumbo was prepared. Frank refused to answer my question, and put me off onto the host. It was a middle aged very rude lady with red hair. When I tried to explain my frustration to her about the way Frank treated me and the lack of information about the menu, she immediately took over the conversation. She explained somethery very revealing to me, but I did not understand this until two days later: she explained that there food comes from a food distributor. Two days later, the reason for the rudeness and lack of transparncy about the food's ingredients and manner of prep is because I was asking questions that they did not want to answer. The point is, these people are marketing a culture and way of life that they have ZERO appreciation for or knowledge of. I left that place feeling insulted and disrespected. This is NOT AUTHENTIC NOLA CUISNINE. Lol you don't get authentic NOLA cuisine from food distributors. You cook it. I do not judge those that eat out from the microwave, but but the marketing there is misleading. I will never go back there. In fact, I'm going to spread the word that these people are fakes without the appropriate knowledge and appreciation of the culture. For this reason, I will NEVER RETURN.
