Catch NYC was insane 🤩 The food and the vibes were both 🔥 I actually went two nights in a row because it was thaaaat good. Must-orders: 🍣 Hell Fire Roll (chef’s kiss) 🍚 Crunchy Rice Cakes (dangerously addicting) 🥟 Wagyu Gyoza (melt in your mouth magic) And listen… don’t sleep on dessert 👀 The Strawberry Shortcake Shaved Ice is the sleeper hit of the menu 🍓❄️✨ 10/10 recommend if you’re trying to impress your taste buds 😋
Catch nyc is amazing. Every time I go, its wonderful. The food comes out super quick and they have an assortment of appetizers (which is all that we ordered). The service is great. Our waiter, Chalya was very quick and attentive. We ate on the 4th floor this time, which was great. Bright and a more casual vibe. Downside, they didnt serve the warm bread and mustard sauce. They gave that to us last time. I think its standard but I only got it once out of the 3 times I've gone. Got the crispy shrimp. It was spicy and sweet, crunchy and hot. Sooo good. Crispy chicken bao buns. The bun is pillowy and the chicken is crispy and juicy. The sauce is like a fresh mayo dill pickle relish. The crunch of lettuce gives it more texture and crispness. There is a spicy sauce with it to give it a subtle kick of flavor. The truffle fries are good too. But they are just fries. Nothing mind blowing, but they are good. Salty, cheesy (tasting), garlicky, crunchy stick fries. Good with both the aioli and the ketchup. The lobster mac and cheese is very flavorful. It seems like they use a seafood base in the cream to amp up the lobster flavor. The panko crumbs gives it a crunch. Big chunks of lobster is added. Small portion but it's just enough for an appetizer. It does taste richer, sharper, and creamier than what it did before, but I like this version. Or it might just be that I haven't had it in a year. Wagyu gyoza was new this time around. It has a kick to it especially with the small jalapeno on top. I would want more broth or dipping sauce since it's really meaty. It does have the sauce on the bottom that it is sitting in on the banana leaf, but maybe a bit more inside or on the side? Either way it's a delicious little bite. I had the kali drink. It was good. You really taste the jalapeno infusion. It has a burn every time you drink it. The sweetness of sugar on the rum helps offset it. But it is strong. I personally like that. My sister had the grapefruit spritzer and it was too sweet and strong. They really do give a good portion of alcohol in the drinks.
Solid sea food sport in meatpacking district. I’d love higher quality Japanese seafood with also some casual American flavor mixed in, this is definitely a spot. It was my first time however I was told Catch is like a quintessential NY restaurant that ppl like to go for date nights, girls night etc. Drinks are not super high end or like a amazing cocktail bar but pretty decent. Verdict - A definitely visit if enjoy good sea food and nice ambiance
Let me tell you .. this was so random of a choice but I’m glad I stopped here! Black woman owned, very elegant place , food was amazing and drinks were cute and elegant. Customer service was amazing . I’m proud of the owner !! Please support !
My second visit at catch wasn't quite as good as the first but combined I'd still give it 5⭐️. It's always been super busy when I'm there so be prepared to wait a few min for your table if you have a reservation. Waitstaff was awesome. Even the front hostess I checked in with was very nice. The food is a mix of small plates and entrees. Mostly it's meant fit sharing. Sushi was excellent though I wouldn't suggest the fried sushi because it was good but just didn't feel like sushi. Hot plates and entrees were yummmmmmmmy!! Drinks were good and the alcohol content was sufficient. Crowd was a big mix, atmosphere was really nice.
Myself and a friend decided to see if we could get into Catch after an industry event. I have been but she had not. I tried to prepare her for the best seafood fusion meal she has had. The truffle sashimi starter will make you cry, the pistachio cheesecake dessert will made you mad with how good it is, and everything in between is amazing. The staff and management team are knowledgable, attentive and a heck of a lot of fun. A+++
The reputation of Catch is what brought me here. I love that the menu has variety while not overwhelming me with options. I agree with other reviewers who mentioned that the cocktails come with too much ice but they were goood. Many tables are so close others. The food and drinks came out quickly. Our server was obviously very busy as his section was full but he checked in with us often.
It’s a very nice an elegant place with the great quality food. Lobster mashed potatoes is to die for. The mushroom spaghetti is so delicious and aromatic. The table next us was having it and we smelled it and we wanted because it smells so good. The Spanish octopus was delicious especially with the sauce in the bottom. If you do not drink any alcohol you do not have much of an option that’s only downside I would say. They said they have random mock tail every day depending on the bartender and today’s one was not the greatest. It was filled with ice mostly. It was a pineapple Mojito I believe
A perfect dressy rooftop brunch! They have a great 28$ brunch deal, but you also can order a la carte. Must tries: Hellfire rolls, Truffle mushroom spaghetti and Hit Me dessert (a multi-layered chocolate tower). Also - if you order an eggwhite omelet, it is huge (and good). The service has considerably improved over years, last two times it was very friendly, accommodating and pleasant (as opposed to pre-covid times). Go on a summer day, sit on their terrace and enjoy the food, drinks and the vibe. Also they are family friendly, I saw several moms with infants who seemed to be ok.
Went here with a group of 18 and sat on the outside patio. It was a little warm outside but much quieter than inside.and the fresh air was nice. The meal was done as family style which allowed us to taste so many different dishes with each one better than the last. I got so caught up in trying the next round of food, I sometimes forgot to snap photos before everyone dug in. The portion sizes were great and the staff and waiter were very attentive and friendly. We loved every single dish that came out but the lobster mac and cheese and filet were definitely crowd favorites. Highly recommend going here for a classy and delicious meal when in the area, we will definitely go back again when visiting NYC.
This restaurant offers a refreshing take on Japanese cuisine, where raw items taste exquisitely clean and are a testament to culinary mastery. It’s an innovative journey through traditional Japanese dishes, reimagined with creativity. Our dining experience was elevated by the chef's generosity, gifting our group with an abundance of dishes on the house, showcasing the kitchen's range and flair. While each dish was carefully prepared and presented, the truffle steak, although ambitious, leaned towards the salty side, slightly overshadowing its potential. Despite this, the overall experience was memorable, making it a must-visit for those craving a novel twist on Japanese favorites.
Went here for my birthday dinner and everything was amazing! My third time here and staff was super helpful / friendly. The Branzino was amazing and loved the “hit me” cake ! My friend had Celiac disease and the staff was very accommodating for her, this was so nice of them. Would 100% recommend and loved the area that this place is in.
Amazing experience. Great atmosphere, exceptional and very knowledgable service, really very exceptional food quality. Taking other worldwide top restaurants into consideration the value was actually quite reasonable.
I cannot say enough about Catch. The food is fabulous, atmosphere is fun yet relaxing and the service goes above and beyond what you’d hope for during a night out. I highly recommend going. Request Bailey as your server and you will not only have superb service, but also quality entertainment. He is one of the most clever, attentive wait staff that I have had the pleasure of dining with. Shout out to manager Zak who keeps everyone happy!
Really great spot for dinner. The atmosphere here is great - perfect for any occasion. The staff are very attentive and the menu is great. The food is very tasty, although some of the portions are quite small. I suppose that gives you space for dessert - they have great dessert here! Overall a lovely experience.
The food is surprisingly good here! The cocktails were super cute. The interior definitely brings you back to a sunny LA afternoon in a second. The staff were accommodating! The only complaint from my table was that we weren’t seated outdoors on the rooftop. I guess that’s a sign for us to come back next time!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Catch in New York City, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the place is incredible—modern yet cozy, with a vibe that makes you want to linger long after your meal is over. To start, I indulged in their fresh oysters, which were nothing short of perfection—briny, crisp, and bursting with flavor. They were easily some of the best I've had in the city. The Caesar salad followed, and while it wasn't the traditional take on the classic dish, it was a delightful surprise. The unique twist on ingredients made it even tastier than expected, showcasing the chef’s creativity. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the octopus. It was, without question, the best I've had in New York. Tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented, it was a dish that exemplified the high culinary standards of the restaurant. Overall, Catch offers not just a meal, but an experience. Whether you're there for a casual evening or a special occasion, the combination of outstanding food and an inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit in the city. I can’t wait to return!
Delicious food and a very lively atmosphere especially at night. Our waiter pointed out to us that after 8-9pm it begins to get very loud to the point where he has to shout. Just a little heads up for anyone. We came for lunch another day and it was very quiet and calm. However, other night experiences have been very enjoyable as well. We love their shareable portions and dishes like their sushi, popcorn shrimp and their truffle ahi is a must! Save the sauce after as well that you can use to dip your truffle fries in! It’s super tasty and we love this place! Their desserts are mouthwatering as well! This place is really consistent and never disappoints when we bring guests.
The martini was one of the best I’ve ever had. Large blue cheese olives!!! Catch Roll is a staple, is always amazing. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked, truffle fries were crispy and had a lot of flavor! Been to the Vegas location and liked it a lot, felt NYC was even better which exceeded expectations!
What a truly AMAZING gastronomical experience this was last night. 1st class from Start to finish… Steve was fantastic too..!! Will definitely recommend to others and come back very soon… the new Lobster Pasta is the best I’ve ever eaten..??
I visited this spot in Chelsea during a weekday evening, right as they opened. The modern yet cozy atmosphere and friendly service made for a pleasant start. We ordered the Rainbow Sashimi Pizza, Spicy Pasta, and Pistachio Cheesecake. While everything tasted great, the portions were on the smaller side for the price—especially the sashimi pizza, which was only about 5 inches. That said, the Pistachio Cheesecake was a standout and an absolute must-try! Overall, it’s a nice place to visit, but keep portion sizes in mind when ordering. Perfect for dessert lovers!
I love this restaurant! I have been going to Catch NYC for several years now and the food and service never disappoints. I want to specifically mention that Zak the assistant general manager is truly very welcoming and goes above and beyond to make sure we are having a pleasant experience. Thank you Zak for everything, because of your service we will always go back to our favorite restaurant!
The food was exquisite. The food was so delicious. The spicy crab rolls were soft, creamy and cooked to perfection. The fillet (beef) skewers were tender, juicy, tasty, and cooked to perfection [medium well, not too pink, not too dry; Goldie Locks would've loved it]. The Basmati rice was nicely seasoned and laced with herbs, cooked for the perfect duration, not starchy, but moist. The truffle fries were laced with herbs, parmesan cheese sprinkled on too and lightly seasoned, served with ketchup and a creamy horseradish/tartar sauce mixture. The crispy chicken boa bun was so delicious, moist, soft, and tasty. They were served with a creamy sauce, romaine lettuce housed in a soft, buttery boa bun. The server, was very attentive and considerate. We told him about my fish and peanut allergy and he steared our meal selection in the right direction, helping me to avoid an episode that would ruin my night. The drinks were refreshing, tasty and not watered down, served with one perfectly shaped and sized ice cube.
Absolutely great and lively restaurant to dine out. It was packed when I was there and a reservation is highly recommended. The fish and sushi are of great quality, as are the meat dishes. There is no need to focus on the signature dishes only, as all the meals we tasted were great. Outstanding selection of US and international wines.
Fun and lively, gets crowded but understandably so - the place is trendy! Our waiter was amazing. Food is great. They fire the sushi in front of you, how cool. They are one of the few places in NYC that still serve Lychee martini - and they threw a flower in there, I love that! They bring an entire fried fish, and cut it in font of you. Awesome. The only thing that was a bit annoying is AC that kept on blowing cold air at us; the waiter closed it three times and three times it kept opening again. But that's fixable I'm sure. Everything else was marvelous!
Everything was excellent we drove up to celebrate my wife’s bday and we were exceptionally pleased. We will be returning soon and definitely recommending to friends. A special thank you to both Kevin & Christian!
The large space means diners are not on top of each other, we started off a brunch tasting menu with lychee martinis, followed by a bottle of cava (with peace juice on the side) The menu was simple elevated, but classic and everything we had was cooked to perfection. We agreed everything and had the Cesar salad, rock shrimp, sushi, poke bowl, chicken sandwich (so juicy) and the Hit Me chocolate dessert. It ALL was so good! The host and our server were very sweet. Would recommend.
Loved every dish here from drinks to appetizers, to main course, to dessert everything was 10/10. Service was great from walking in to leaving, special shoutout to our server Kolis for doing an amazing job.
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Catch for a little girls’ night out. Pat was very attentive and kind, keeping us updated on our course timing. The food was really good! The Caesar salad was ahhhmazing—I’d come back for that alone. The branzino was flavorful, flaky, and fresh. The Wagyu fried rice was also delicious, but the Caesar was definitely the highlight of the night
I was really surprised. This spot was for all ages. Cute outside seating. We went around 4 PM before it got busy. We had some drinks and some appetizers. Drinks were great. I loved their espresso martini (with Grey Goose. I don't like all the sweetness with vanilla vodka!) It was on point. Their sushi was the best I have ever had and we travel and eat at alot of very nice spots! Their seaweed wasn't chewy. It was definitely fresh melting as you chew and their fish was fresh and excellent with great flavors. We didn't have much but did order another round of the same two appetizers. Yellowtail, avocado sushi roll, and the crunchy rice cakes, they were super delicious! And to top it off from the moment you walk in and get greeted by the guy at the door to the entire team was perfect. Friendly, smiling with great service.
Our reviews had over 52 million in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love Catch NYC. Great Great place. Eat upstairs if you like a noisy busy hoping place, downstairs if you like more peaceful. Pancakes are huge. Dessert is big enough for 3 people. Yummy sushi rolls. Odd mix of food but we liked it. Lots of fun, fast, easy to get into and great food. Love it. Check out all of our reviews and look at all the photos below. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 52 million views in the last 12 months and we thank you for that. The food was delicious and the vibes were on point but my favorite part of the visit was Jason! He took the time to make sure that we were good and that the food was up to our standards! 10/10 would recommend, must ask for Jason!
Catch NYC – My Tried and True Favorite Catch has earned its place as one of my go-to favorites in the city. Every visit feels special. I’m always greeted warmly, treated with care, and reminded that great service still matters. The team is attentive without hovering, and the food never disappoints, always fresh and flavorful. Brunch feels indulgent, dinner feels electric, and somehow each experience manages to balance energy with ease. I’ve brought countless friends here, and every one of them has left just as impressed. The cocktails are consistently exceptional and crafted with precision. When you go, don’t miss my personal favorites: the Crispy Hhrimp, Hellfire Roll, Catch Roll, Wagyu Surf and Turf Roll, Truffle Mushroom Spaghetti (ad grilled shrimp), and the Wagyu fried rice (add lobster). Finish strong with the ricotta donuts and for your cocktail, an espresso martini made with Absolut Elyx. Trust me. Catch always delivers. The experience is consistently excellent!
The food was excellent — truly some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Every dish was flavorful and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was also great and added to the overall experience. The only downside was the service. Our waitress passed by our table several times without checking in or asking if we wanted another round of drinks, even though it was clear we’d been waiting for a while. That said, the quality of the food and the ambiance more than made up for the slower service. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to others.
First we were greeted by Sophie who was so friendly and accommodating. Got us a great table. Then Brendan our waiter had some great advice on our food choices, and he was bang on! We loved everything. I liked Sushi but didn't love it, until now. The cooks add some great flavors to everything we tried. The place is amazing go there!
Did the Hits 1 with some supplements, overall a pretty good meal, I would say everything was an overall solid 7.5 for my personal ranking, but gets a 5 for the NYC Google maps rank. Everything was executed very well and there were surprisingly good dishes like the Lobster Mafaldine and most of the apps. The steak was done nicely, but I can't really rank it among some of the best I've had. The desserts in the tasting menu were just okay, but can't complain as I have had worse. I can't say it's one of the best places in NYC, but it is certainly much better than what other reviews say. I feel like it is unjustly hated.
I ordered a whole Branzino to go and when I arrived home I found the head of a black devil fish better known as Lophius piscatorius. I’m not sure if they got the two confused but it wasn’t a pleasant site to see. I sure hope this doesn’t happen in the future, catch is overall a great place to visit.
CATCH NYC – A 10/10 Group Experience! If you’re looking for the perfect spot for a group dinner, look no further. We came in with a group of 6 and the entire experience was a 10/10. The atmosphere was buzzing, the service was seamless for a larger table, and the food was incredible from start to finish. Highly recommend! What We Ordered: The Starters: We kicked things off with a mix of seafood. The Truffle Sashimi and Tuna Tartare were incredibly fresh. But the real star of the starters was the Crispy Shrimp—the spicy mayo and tobiko gave it the perfect kick. The Sushi: We shared a few rolls, and the Catch Roll (crab and salmon with miso-honey) is a must-order. It’s a signature for a reason! The Main Event: For the meal, the Lobster was the absolute highlight. We had the Cantonese Lobster, and it was cooked to perfection—super succulent and flavorful. We also loved the Hellfire Roll and the Wagyu Surf & Turf Roll which brought together that lobster and beef combo perfectly.
We had an excellent but fairly pricey meal at Catch. It is a great spot and a fun scene. Just opened upper dining room is very nice. We had the tasting menu as we found the menu extensive making it little hard to choose. The tasting menu gave us a nice portion of many items. Entire table has to do it. One bottle of wine with no corkage fee. Service could be more personal.
Being at Catch NYC was a sight to see and a beautiful experience because I was able to speak to seemingly experienced staff including servers. The environment was refreshing and warm with greenery and soft lights. I experienced breathtaking views and weather as well as the surroundings of well kept plants and seats outside by a outdoor patio/terrace. I did not forget the food was incredibly prepared to its best. It was in fact, my first time there and I had a welcoming time. I was able to observe the chocolate cake being gently broken to be eaten, the sushi options being explained professionally, and the drink being made effortlessly. The next time I go to Catch NYC, I will bring someone who means a lot to me. I enjoyed my time.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Exceptional Experience at Catch – Thanks to Steve! From the moment we arrived, Steve Desir made our evening unforgettable. His energy, professionalism, and genuine hospitality elevated the entire experience. Steve went above and beyond to make us feel welcome — from his expert recommendations to his perfect timing and attention to detail, he made sure everything ran seamlessly. Steve has a rare gift for making guests feel like VIPs. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, knew the menu inside and out, and delivered a level of personalized service that’s hard to find. On top of that, his friendly personality and positive vibe set the tone for an amazing night. If you’re dining at Catch, do yourself a favor and ask for Steve. He turns a great dinner into an unforgettable experience. Five stars all around — we’ll definitely be back!
I recently moved to NYC from LA. I have frequented the Catch in LA a bunch of times but I must say Catch NYC IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!! Our server was Brian and he was immaculate from beginning to end. We only drink addictive-free tequila and he was well-versed in selections (which isn’t always common in restaurants), his personality and service was second to none, he catered menu suggestions to our diet restrictions and palette and paid attention to our questions and answered them over and beyond! Brian’s service was so amazing I had to request for one of the managers to come because I have eaten ALL OVER THE WORLD from hole in the wall places to Michelin star places and I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED service as amazing as Brian! Manager Steve came and he was amazing as well! I get why this Catch is so amazing because the food, service, and management are all astounding! This is definitely now one of my go-to restaurants in NYC now! The food was so good that I didn’t get to take pics lol! We ordered the catch sushi roll (must try), the rock Shrimp, the salmon entree, and the whole branzino entree! Everything was amazing! The margaritas with addictive free tequila and espresso martinis were some of the best we have had! And that dessert…whewwwww!!! Get the cookies & the “hit me” cake but just don’t hit it as hard as I did so it doesn’t splatter everywhere 😂😂😂
Catch is always a vibe! If you’re looking for a trendy spot in NYC with great food, fun energy, and a beautiful crowd—this is the place. The music is always on point, the decor is chic, and it’s perfect for a night out with friends or a cute dinner date. The seafood is the star here, and the sushi rolls never disappoint. It can get very busy, so reservations are a must—and don’t be surprised if the service is a little slow during peak hours. Still, the overall experience makes up for it. Catch is one of those places that’s just fun to be at. @raquelgerlani
I went here on a dinner date, the location is great, the restaurant looks good, from the moment you enter the coat stand to being seated at the table everything is amazing! We ordered a few starters, some sushi rolls, pasta and chips and then dessert. The timing of the dishes was wonderful. Everything arrived on time. Presentation could be improved, but in the end the taste is the real test and everything was fresh, high quality and delicious. The restaurant was busy and there was a good atmosphere. The place is very clean including the bathrooms. I will definitely come back again!
Went here for my birthday this year and it was great, the service was fantastic. These people are true professionals! We were seated immediately on a very busy night. Our server was very attentive despite juggling several tables, and the management even checked in when we sent back some crab for not being fresh enough. Everything else we had was excellent, in particular the wagyu porterhouse. I’m not particularly a huge red meat eater but I couldn’t get enough of it. We took the bone home it was so good. Their Klondike dessert was not only delicious, but really fun to eat. Definitely recommend.
This place is everything, from the food to the service. I was not in the least disappointed. Make sure you have reservations because the wait time can be long. I went out wit

Enjoyed the food. Couple of negative things was that it was I had made a reservation for rooftop (I wanted to take my wife to a rooftop for a early mother's day) and we were not on a rooftop) the drink I wanted (eye opener) they were sold out and they had just opened, my wife complained that she could not substitute potatoes for truffle fries, and just paying the difference. The place was pretty empty and we were seated in a corner near where I'm guessing the dirty dishes are kept. I would recommend .. but... expectations set on not being on a rooftop
Really good food and ambience. The sake menu is fairly good as well. It is overpriced, though. If you are on a budget or not willing to spend a lot of money, do not go there. Otherwise, go and you will have a good time! The only thing that annoyed us a little bit is that we felt like they were rushing us to leave before we finished our bottle of sake.
We visited Catch NYC for a Friday night birthday dinner for two. We had a reservation but still had to wait 10-15 minutes which wasn’t too bad. We sampled a couple cocktails at the bar. I enjoyed the Kali which had nice spicy kick with the jalapeño infusion. We had the truffle sashimi, grilled Spanish octopus, and herb roasted Branzino paired with a Sauvignon blanc suggested by the server. I enjoyed all the dishes and desert - Hit Me Chocolate Cake 😋
Delicious food and a wide variety of options. We had the Catch Roll, Crispy Cauliflower, Seared Yellowfin Tuna, Roasted Whole Branzino, Wagyu Rice & Brocoli. Everything was absolutely incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious! Service wasn’t the best, we were left waiting for long periods, no plates when our food came out & after being given a dessert menu, no one came back to take our order.
This establishment has transformed into a popular tourist destination, emphasizing aesthetics perfect for Instagram. The ambiance exudes a club-like atmosphere. Don't be discouraged by the doorman and the elevator leading to the restaurant. Without a reservation, seating isn't available, and even with one, expect a lengthy wait. While the staff is polite, the waiting area can be quite overwhelming. It's worth mentioning that the restaurant is dimly lit and quite noisy. When it comes to the food, it's decent, but the exorbitant prices might not be entirely justified. However, I highly recommend trying the tartare trio, crispy nori tacos, crispy shrimp, and cauliflower. On the other hand, I'd advise against ordering the octopus or the steak, as they were somewhat underwhelming and the portions were quite small. Overall, I think this is a fun place if you are looking for something different and don't mind spending money. Otherwise, there are way better places to eat Asian food around the area.
We wanted to dine at the outside of the rooftop. We were told it's mainly for drinks. Besides, it was chilly that day. So, we ended up dining inside of the rooftop. The 5 of us ordered 2 lush lemonade & a strawberry spritz. The drinks looked great, but I had none of them. Our daughter ordered truffle sashimi & Catch roll with spicy mayo. Can't believe they charged $3 for it. Yhe sashimi is great. I should have used some of the grated Wasabi from the roll with the sashimi. I ate the wasabi with the sliced scallion from the sashimi with the truffle sauce. This alone was marvelous. For the main, my wife got the Scottish salmon, and I got the sautéed snapper. Our son ordered the porterhouse with asparagus (these are monstrosities). Both the fish were cooked medium, which is done perfectly to order. It's not often we find fish like these in a restaurant cooked so perfectly. The bad part of the dining experience was that the manager offered us 2 complimentary dishes: pretzel bread & edamame & they didn't take them off the bill. We almost paid for them. Another disconcerting annoyance was the "suggested" 20% minimum tips was calculated based on the total bill even we have a credit, which stemmed from a prior visit that did go well. This would mean we would be paying double tips on the credit portion. Not cool.
The food was delicious but the star deduction was for service. After we were seated, we waited at least 20 mins and still had no waiter approach us and had to request multiple times before they brought us tap water. I understand that places can get busy, but there were many open tables. The food was great though, so I would definitely go back. I understand this may be a one-off situation so I will update if I visit in the future.
This is definitely a touristy/special event type of place. Very instagrammy kind of spot in the meatpacking district. There is a doorman where you enter making it feel like you’re entering a club. You go up in an elevator to get to the main restaurant (evidently there’s a more lounge-y vibe upstairs but was closed when we went). At night, when we went, the lighting is low and pretty. It’s a reasonably wide open space but the tables are somewhat packed in together in the middle. The hostess was very pleasant, our waiter was very good - you can tell this is a well run establishment. We ordered Tartare trio, Crispy nori taco, Crispy shrimp, Brussels sprouts, Grilled Spanish octopus, and the Hit me chocolate cake for dessert. The tartare trio was very delicious (the creamy wasabi is amazing - almost licked it off the dish) and comes with crispy waferish thing for a good crunchy texture. The nori taco was good and the fried nori held its crunch pretty well. The crispy shrimp was ok - just your normal variety of well fried shrimp in a light sauce. The Brussels sprouts were terrific (when aren’t they?) and plentiful. The octopus was just ok. The dessert was this high-multi component cake thing that the gimmick was that you smack it with a spoon to release the chocolate sauce inside. Fun and interesting different chocolate tastes and textures. Overall - definitely worth a try. Get the tartare trio and the Brussels sprouts for sure!
Catch is a well known seafood spot in Meatpacking that offers creative gastronomical fusion. It also houses a very trendy club in the later hours of the night. I’ll review both here. The restaurant: Food is good and very modern in terms of style, presentation, and even “flare”. The prices are very high, however, so the value is closer to 4 stars. Food quality is 4.5 stars. Excellent service. And a very good ambiance with great music and fun people watching. Overall: Fun to go if someone else is picking up the tab, or for a trendy celebration. From a pure food-value perspective, the city has much better seafood restaurants. The club: Very exclusive on weekends. Full of trust fund kids with tables, very young (sometimes underage) models / wannabe models, the occasional celebrity, some middle age dudes, and an eclectic crowd of whoever else is allowed in. Definitely dress to impress at the door, and arriving early (before 10:30) is the easiest ticket in. Music is good, but LOUD. Crowd gets sloppy as the night goes on (because of its youthfulness). I liked catch more in my mid 20s, but it continues to have its moments. Just be ready to TURN UP, and don’t get too upset when a drink is inevitably spilled on you. 4 stars for the club, but it’s definitely fun to go if you have never been.
Lovely restaurant with nice ambience and very nice cocktail and rooftop bar. It is a bit difficult to be sited down at prime time, even if you arrive on time for your reservation, so get in the mood for a cocktail before your dinner! Some of the staff were struggling to cope with the influx of customers but the waiter and service staff compensated for the early mishaps. Nice variety of drinks and cocktails, rich Vegan menu and some classical seafood options make up for a premium offering. Pricing towards the higher end, but reasonable when looking at the location, rooftop experience and good service overall. Totally recommend it for locals and visitors, but you have to be conscious of waiting times and perhaps chose your time wisely.
Honestly compared to the Miami catch, this catch let me down in terms of atmosphere and overall service. Maybe because my reservation was one of the last of the night, but my server didn’t really check up on me after all the food was delivered. So I was unable to get refills and unable to add a dessert. We had to literally wave down another waiter to help us get the check to leave but also in terms of atmosphere it’s so tiny and in a bad location. In my opinion the view sucks and it’s just not what it should be. Food was good!
While the entrance needs more prominence and more light near the elevators, the food was great. It was tasty and cooked perfectly. Appreciated the cooking of some of the steak further for people with dietary preferences. Service was good though a bit slow and some of the food came out of order. Overall, I would go back because of the food taste and the good group we were with. Easily accommodated our reservation group getting smaller without shifting us to a smaller table. Good times!
really good food and service, i like that there's lots of different options ever since they combined the steakhouse and sushi spot into one
Food and service were great. I would definitely come back anytime. The ambiance and drinks were amazing as well. Love this place

I did a reservation for 5 people 8pm. It’s 8:35 and I’m still waiting. They are asking me to go to the bar to wait… A lot of people came after and are already seated So it’s a mess and they do not…
I went there a few weeks ago to celebrate a birthday. The individual whose birthday it was wanted to come here because of its popularity on social media etc. The restaurant was very nicely furnished and has a wonderful aesthetic. We were a large party and while the food pretty good I personally felt the service was fair at best. Everyone was amicable but for starters we were placed at a smaller booth while a larger booth sat empty beside us for most of the evening. We made the best of it but then as the food started to come out, plates were not being removed at a reasonable pace. We ended up piling up plates on the corner of the table in hopes that they would be removed and on more than one occasion we were brought more food and yet plates remained until we asked for them to be removed. It wasn’t a “bad” experience, but it certainly wasn’t great and not what I would expect at this price point. Would I return… maybe if I was in a party with someone who really wanted the experience but certainly not of my own choosing. It is possible that it could have just been an off night but I was a bit disappointed.
Beautiful place in meatpacking. The food was good, nothing out of this world. We were very disappointed with the service, the restaurant was almost empty and they brought us the order wrong twice and we couldn’t get the waiters attention. Its okay but I dont think the prices are worth it.
-Food was okay. (Just normal like other restaurants) - They played the music so loudly. So, I had to speak as loud as I could. It's hard to talk w someone. -Hostess greeted so badly. Looked like she didn't talk to me. I got to feel bad. So, I don't think I will visit this place again. Pricey place with unkind hostess. But waiters were nice.
Spot has a great reputation, food was good. The type of place you go to for the experience. We’ve ordered food for the table and some drinks - only to find out and see that literally more than half of the check went just for the drinks - meaning they are EXTREMELY overpriced for no reason whatsoever compared to the other awesome restaurants we’ve been at in the area and which do not charge that amount for the same types of drinks, and it is such a shame. We did not stay there for long, it was a less than an hour and half type of dinner, and there’s no reason a glass w some alcohol and a TONE of ice should be around $25- the price of an appetizer at your location. The staff was extremely nice and attentive, Thank you guys at Catch NYC 🤙🏼
I dined at Catch NYC with a group of seven. We had an 8:30 PM reservation, but unfortunately weren’t seated until 9:32 PM. That delay—over an hour—was frustrating and definitely put a damper on the start of our night. The explanation given was simply that it was a busy Friday and they had to wait to prep a table, which didn’t feel like a strong excuse given we had a confirmed reservation. That said, once we were finally seated, the experience took a turn for the better. The ambiance was lively and energetic, and the food was exceptional. I had the steak dinner, and it was truly a 10 out of 10—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and well-presented. The service once we were at the table was also solid. Overall, while the wait was disappointing, the quality of the food did help redeem the evening. I’d consider going back but definitely with the understanding that even a reservation doesn’t guarantee a timely seating on a weekend.
Not a bad restaurant but very overpriced for what you get. The food is legitimately good quality but it’s just pricey for the portions. The outdoor patio is a bit scruffy. As example, the crab roll (not pictured) was really good but the size of a normal spring roll for over $20. The octopus was fine (nothing too special).
Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 2/5 Here’s why. Atmosphere: It was SOOOO LOUD in this place, I literally developed a headache. We sat upstairs, and judging by others pictures, there is another dining room that is larger. Perhaps the small size contributed to the poor acoustics, but it did make the evening very unpleasant! Otherwise, the room itself, decor and layout was fine if not quaint in an elegant way. Service: Our waitress was quite lovely. Just had a great demeanor about her. I think she wanted me to kiss her. I would’ve. She was quite cute. But, the hostesses … sheesh. They have off this “Look pal. I work the runway modeling, sooo, just you wait till I’m ready to seat you”. Was just a look and vibe that I noticed. Food: I had the seared barramundi or some such white flakey fish which was quite the dish. Moist and just the right amount of flavor! Highly recommend! The dudes at this place, especially the ones standing at the bar, looked like complete posers! Their entirety was so paper thin it was almost embarrassing. Wow. I guess they can get away with that in NYC. I’d say Get Some, but sit outside where it’s quieter.
Prices are expected, however, the actual taste was just okay considering the food we ordered. We ordered a good amount of food for a party of 6. Service was great though, waiter was super attentive. One minus though were that the lights were so dimmed it was getting difficult to see things and the music selection was interesting to say the least. Edamame - It's Edamame can't really say much. Crispy Rice - Solid Shishito Peppers - Wouldn't get again. Crispy Cauliflower - Kind of difficult to make any better. $27 dollar item that probably should be $13. Catch Roll - Was nice, can't really complain Wagyu Surf & Turf Roll - Wagyu overpowers everything can't really taste much. Sushi Boat - Nothing really special. Wagyu Porterhouse - Standard Prime Ribeye - Standard Center-Cut Filet - Standard Mash Potatoes - Good. Small portion, but, probably a good thing. Was extremely rich and a bit difficult to eat a lot of. Pistachio Cheese Cake - Really rich, almost too much, difficult to finish but good for a bite or two. Hit Me Chocolate Cake
Great view and amazing roof deck for the summer. Food experience is not so good: $110 for a chef sushi plate (8 pieces) with average quality as well as the 6 oysters. Very disappointed. The service is slow and not efficient …. Long wait. Good for drinks on the roof deck outside in summer but not recommended for food.
At arrival they asked to go at the bar to drink something until table is ready There were 5/7 table already ready and in fact one of them was our but we had to wait ab 15 minutes at bar … service …
Service was 2/10. Food was horrible. The miso cod lettuce cups was real good the crunch in it helped with flavor. But the chicken with potatoes was horrible. Potatoes wasn't cooked long enough. They were hard. Chicken was ok it was juicy but lacked flavor. The desert was basically yogurt with cooked peaches. Not worth the money i went for restaurant week and was not worth my time. As for service it was trash. Server focused on the table next to us which i believe was due to their race. The brenzino was so bad and got sent back no flavor at all. The server didn't pour our water like he did for the other table. He was not attentive to us how do u check on the table less than 2ft away from us. Note seating is close and waited 30 mins pass our reservation time to get seated. Just don't waste your time going there. Overpriced and lack taste
Food was amazing, the tuna crispy rice was my favorite dish. Drinks were not worth the price, tasted premade and one of our drinks was even hot. For $22 I am absolutely expecting a handcrafted cocktail and not something the bartenders just slapped together. Service from our waiter was great however the hostess had us wait for 30 minutes when we arrived because “the table wasn’t ready” although we arrived on time and there were plenty of tables available
Overrated and over hyped. Food was mediocre. We could’ve stayed in south Jersey and went to Morimoto instead. We ordered the bluefin trash, the hamaci was GREAT, somehow both crudos came with the same broth and sauce… all that money and you can’t exhibit skill to make different crudo? wagyu fried rice pointless, chicken bao buns pointless, cocktails were just okay. Everything was pretty wack. Also it’s super loud. Table next to ours with two people, the one lady is screaming for no reason at all. Too much going on. Rent out the hallway on the way up. It makes me believe I’m about to have an unbelievable experience. However it fell shorter than me.
What an average place, the food was okay (crab rolls and crispy cauliflower) but the service was slightly aggressive. We got handed the bill without asking for it and the waiter had a sharp tone in general. It was also my birthday (which was on the booking) and no celebratory acknowledgement was given. Although the food was nice, the prices did not justify it at all. Would not recommend unless you want a terribly average dining experience.

My experience here was an absolute nightmare. I had to wait for two hours without being served, and this is completely unacceptable. The waiter came by three times without even bringing my order. …
Overall a terrible and expensive experience. POSITIVE - Location + it's beautiful looking NEGATIVE - WAIT/FRONT DESK. Advance reservation for 5 people (business dinner) and with an empty room (3 tables had people), they made us wait for 10+ minutes. The front desk made us feel like we are not important. The seating wasn't the table we hoped for - we asked for another table and weren't given a choice - again with restaurant being empty. - SERVICE. Absolutely terrible. The waiter didn't ask once how was our food, whether we wanted something else, whether anyone needed drink refills. I actually requested waiter 3 times from bus boys. When I saw waiter and mentioned that I was looking for him, he was rude saying that he was at our table few times - well.. not asking us anything. - FOOD. We ordered Prix Fixe (Restaurant Week) at $60/pp. I didn't want it, as it was one of the worst Prix Fixe I've seen, but few people wanted it and you have to order pre-fixe with the whole table. For extras we had Oysters. Please keep in mind - it's Seafood restaurant in NY, super expensive, so you expect top notch quality from it: - Oysters. Not good. Didn't feel super fresh - something was weird, felt cooked on the bottom, vs fresh - can't put it to words. - Sushi rol. It was OK at best. I've had better many times. - Wagyu Gyoza. Yes - it sounds good. Basic meat gyoza - nothing to brag about. - Salmon. One of the worst ones I've had. The waiter asked how we would like it to be cooked and that chef recommends "medium". I haven't heard that asked before (generally for meat only). So the "medium" was almost burned skin (way too crispy/char) and RAW inside. It didn't have appropriate side dish either, with few asparguses on the plate. - Mojito. The drink wasn't great due to ridicolous amount of ice. All of us didn't feel good later in the evening after eating this food. This was the only food I had for the day, so I had no doubt something wasn't fresh. Just go somewhere else if you have money to spend. I loved Steak Frites Bistro which is 1.5 miles away.
Extremely disappointing experience. We had a confirmed online reservation at Catch for Sunday, February 8th at 7:00 PM, for three people, made well in advance. The reservation was clearly confirmed through the platform, which even sent a confirmation reminder prior to the date. However, when we arrived on time, the restaurant was completely closed. Even worse, the hours sign displayed directly on the front door clearly indicated that the restaurant was open on Sundays starting at 5:00 PM. Everything on-site suggested the restaurant should have been operating normally. While standing outside, we encountered a delivery driver who was there to pick up an order. He called the restaurant right in front of us, and the staff confirmed to him that the restaurant was closed, without providing any explanation — despite the restaurant being listed as open, accepting reservations online, and displaying opening hours on its own door. No notification, no cancellation email, no apology — nothing. This reflects a serious lack of professionalism and complete disregard for customers’ time. For a restaurant of this standing, this level of mismanagement is unacceptable. Fortunately, by pure chance, we ended up at Makoto Omakase, near 14th Street and 7th Avenue (Chelsea). What a contrast. An outstanding experience, truly immersive — like being transported to Japan in the heart of Manhattan. An unforgettable dinner that completely saved our evening. Sadly, Catch was a major disappointment. We will not be returning.
SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE- The young brunette waitress we had was clearly not qualified to work at a high end restaurant. Each dish is $30-200 so for that you would expect the service to be exceptional, but it was awkward and unprofessional. The food was good but in hindsight the sushi was no better than the $10 sushi I order at a normal restaurant. We spent $100 each and still left hungry, and ended up getting better food afterward for much less. I know you may be thinking if the food and service was lacking, the atmosphere has to be impressive! It wasn’t. Think Applebee’s with dim lighting. Come here if you’re rich and want to waste your money on bad service and small portions! :)
