Food was so delicious I’m rating before I finish my meal. Omg!!! We had the Nacho mamas and biría tacos. Perfection!!! The margaritas were small but so tasty and perfectly made. Definitely recommend.
Went to this place for happy hours after work with friends the hibiscus a d mango margaritas were damn good will go back for more
I have been coming here for YEARS! The nacho mama and frozen blood orange margaritas will change your life. I love too many things to list. In the summer there's outdoor seating. please stay open forever!
This place is so underrated. Excellent salsa/ guac and I may or may not have eaten half the kids VERY fluffy pancakes! Kid friendly/ nice staff. Perfect location if you’re hitting the movies.
Absolutely loved this spot! Nacho Mama was so good — loaded, flavorful, and super fresh. Great vibes, fast service, and the kind of Mexican food that hits just right. Definitely coming back
Just had lunch at El Vez in Downtown Manhattan, and honestly, it was a great spot! The food was super tasty – classic Mexican flavors with a modern twist. I went in not expecting much as a vegetarian, but I was really impressed by the options. Their veggie tacos and guacamole were top-notch (highly recommend the mushroom tacos if you’re into earthy flavors). The staff were super friendly and polite, even when the place started getting busy. It’s got a fun vibe – lively but not overwhelming. Also, the location is super convenient – just a short walk from the WTC, so it’s perfect if you’re exploring the area or need a good bite after visiting the memorial or Oculus. Definitely a place I’d go back to, especially if I’m in the mood for good Mexican food with solid vegetarian choices. 🌮🌱
🌮 Five Stars for Flavors and Fun at El Vez! I’ve been a regular at El Vez for a while now, and it never disappoints. I recently went for lunch with my niece, and from start to finish, it was an absolute delight. We kicked things off with the Nachos Mama—and wow, they were just as incredible as we remembered. Perfectly layered with gooey cheese, hearty beans, tangy vinagre onions, and just the right heat from the jalapeños. The crispy tortillas held up like champs under all that goodness, and the cheese was flawlessly melted. For mains, I went with the fish tacos on corn tortillas (my personal favorite), and they were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. My niece had the steak tacos and loved them so much she took the last one home for dinner—which, trust me, is high praise from her! The vibe is always upbeat, and the service was friendly and polite without being overbearing. If you’re looking for solid Mexican cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere, El Vez is the place to be. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended!
El Vez has been a longtime favorite of mine, and they continue to impress every time. The food is always flavorful and fresh, the prices are fair, and the vibrant atmosphere makes for a great dining experience. On my latest visit, I brought my family along, and we were seated right away—no reservation, no hassle. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and everything we ordered was spot on. Highly recommend the churros to end the meal—they’re a must. This place remains one of the most reliable spots in the city.
This place is fantastic!!! Food quality is through the roof, service is good and extra fast. We adored the atmosphere and the tastiness of the food we got. We ordered two shrimp tacos, two zucchini quesadilla and a black bean enchiladas, along with a beer, a red sangria and a red margarita with a bottle of still and sparkling water. We spent about 155$.
I love this place! It has delicious food, great service and a fun atmosphere. It is large enough for big groups. There is a large fun bar area as well! The best things to order are the margaritas, the nachos, the tortilla soup and the tacos Al carbon. Josephat was so kind and helpful, amazing customer service. I have hosted three large groups here and the food and service never slips.
Wow! El Vez really impressed us with their restaurant environment and amazing menu! The food tasted authentic and fresh, and the staff was honest about wait time, which we greatly appreciated. Omar, our server, was a wonderful personality and we can’t thank him enough for being a fantastic server. I went with the Chicken Enchiladas which comes with a side of beans and rice. A perfect duo! We also tried the Nacho Mama as an appetizer and it was delicious! If you are ever in the area and looking for good food, try this place out!
Went on a Saturday in December for a late brunch. This place was very festive and lively inside. Service was a little slow and I had to flag the waiter down a few times. The waiter also told me 3 tacos came in my order and when the plate came w only 2 tacos he told me he misspoke. Probably could have been handled better but the breakfast tacos were seriously bomb. Hearty w the eggs and ham.
This is my go-to spot whenever I’m in the area. The food is consistently tasty and solid, the ambiance is lively (and seems to get more crowded each time I visit), and the service is always great. You can’t go wrong with margaritas, of course, along with the chicken and steak asada tacos. And if you have room for dessert, definitely order the churros—they’re worth it.
It's kind of a large, bustling place, but away from the bar area, the dining room proved a bit quieter and the food was delicious. We had the guacamole to start and then the steak and shrimp fajitas, which went by another name, al carbon, I think.
This is a nice restaurant nestled close to the world trade center memorial site. Its very spacious and has some cool decorations on the wall. They have large plate kids meals. We got the cheese quesidillas and the kids nachos. They devoured it. The side of rice and beans were not too spicy for the kids. And they loved the fruit as well. I got the adult nachos. They are served on a plate with ample toppings. We also got the chicken enchiladas. Those were bathed in a mole type of sauce. It definitely needed hot sauce. It took a while to get a server to come back with the hot sauce but it was worth it. They had an orange one that was milder and a red one that was much more spicy. It was filling and good. Prices were fair for NYC.
Save this spot since it’s one if the FEW places you can waltz into without a res! It’s a massive restaurant with tons of seats and an almost suburb chain vibe (in a good way)! Their guac is SPECTACULAR! Extremely creamy and flufff- with a healthy dusting of cotija cheese to give it a funky kick. We also got the shrimp tacos (intriguingly creamy??), chicken quesadilla (made me feel like I was back in elementary school lol) and their kale caesar (delicious! and had a cashew caesar that was similar to Springbone Kitchen’s!).
The highlight of the menu is Nacho Mama and Grilled Corn off the Cob. Both were really good and flavorful. Another good option would be the Black Bean Tlayuda which had a lot of ingredients and flavors but was a little less crispy. Overall good food, great service, friendly staff, and good environment. Would come again for the Nacho Mama and Grilled Corn.
The food and vibe is great here. I’m jain and have many dietary restrictions. The server was very helpful and was able to accommodate 3 dishes as per our need. We had the Taco Mama, their entrees tacos (good enough for 2-3 ppl). Also, they have alot of margaritas and we ordered a few different ones (guava and pear ones are really good).
Not a lot of vegetarian options, but the ones that we did get were very good. I was especially pleased with the Nacho Mama, which had the right amount of cheese and toppings and wasn’t overly greasy. Everything else was better than average, which makes the place stand out. Huge location, lots of outdoor seating, and fair enough prices. The primary reason that I didn’t rate it higher is because the service was pretty poor at my table. The server walked off before even letting me finish a sentence when I was trying to order. Also, he didn’t know the menu well enough to help us find vegetarian options. Overall, a good dining experience... minus the less than stellar server.
I wanted so badly for this to be a great experience! I met up with my bestie for dinner before catching a movie nearby. I’ve worked in this area for years but hadn’t been back in a while, and I know restaurants around here tend to change often. We spotted the sign for this place and decided to give it a try. The bar area was jumping definitely a happy hour crowd but we were seated right away, which was a plus. The dining area was much calmer and nicely laid out. I really liked that there was plenty of space between tables, so it didn’t feel crowded. After reviewing the menu, we were both surprised by how limited it was. Most Mexican restaurants usually offer a wider variety of options, but we decided to go with the chicken enchiladas. They only came with two no sides, so we added a side of rice and beans. The food came out quickly and was hot, which we appreciated. However, we both felt like the enchiladas were a bit light on the chicken and honestly, the flavor was pretty underwhelming. What a bummer, because I really thought we’d stumbled on a hidden gem. We didn’t get drinks or appetizers since we were short on time, but I will say the staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable for the area. I just wish the menu had more variety and the food packed a little more flavor. We chose to rate them 3 stars because the restaurant was nice and the staff was pleasant. I wasn’t able to get a lot of pictures.
I’ll start with typically I have decent experiences here. The frozen blood orange margarita is a must have when visiting and I love the corn app. However, this last time visiting my friend and I just wanted a snack while catching up and ordered the queso fundido con carne. Yes, I understand cheese has grease to it and yes I understand the meat will have some grease, but this was to another level. We ended up not being able to eat it there was such a thick layer of oil throughout. We informed the waitress so they could be aware and let the kitchen know why it was thrown out.
Visited El Vez as part of a work dinner while I was in NYC. I ordered the mushroom tacos which was one of the few vegan entrees on the menu. The mushrooms were so over done they were basically croutons. The dish was a tad salty and the rice/beans a tad dry. Overall, can’t say I’d ever be back for a meal on my own. There are better places in NYC to try if Mexican id what you’re craving!
To start off our waitress was nice at first but she seemed like she hated her job. Then when we payed with a card at the table we always leave a cash tip so when we clicked no tip for card she said this wasn’t a free establishment. We still tipped her even though she was rude to my partner. The food was decent but nothing special. Just overpriced because it is NYC. The chicken enchiladas were average. The carne asada burrito was good. The chips and salsa were kind of pitiful for almost $9. Unfortunately we will not be back to this establishment.
