Love this.
Me encanta su sopa fresca de Wong Soup
Very good food. Their Hot and sour soup is the best. Also, the staffs are very friendly 5🌟
Food very delicious, delivery quick, and the best service in this neighborhood. Delivery see we service the best.

Best Chinese food in the area
Fast, cheap, good!
I lived in this neighborhood since the 1960s. My dad was a chef and co-owned a Chinese restaurant on 103rd st Broadway. Being a chef myself I like to taste the local cuisine every quarter of the year to see how well most restaurants are doing and I can say New Kai Lam here on 94st-95st is the real deal for Chinese food. I've tasted their chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, and vegetables dishes and I can grade them at a 4.7 stars out of 5.0. Unfortunately, i didn't try their fried foods as i personally want to not get high cloresterol/diabetes issues. I typically order to take out and at dinner time frame. For a mostly take out "order to cook on demand" restaurant and getting hot with quality, I say they are an overwhelming 4.8/5.0! Are they perfect? No but they do get right vastly most of the time. This review was not influenced by the owner or workers at this restaurant and only want to share my personal experience and taste buds to us upper west side foodies.
The absolute best Chinese food in the area. Affordable, fresh, and delicious. Their platters are a great deal and come with a main item, rice and an egg roll. Staffed by some of the most friendly, efficient people you’ll ever meet.
A family ran establishment that provides quick, satisfying service. Portions are always tremendous for a great price. Best Chinese takeout in the area in my opinion.
Quintessential small business restaurant experience. When I was welcomed into the store with the classic, "Welcome my friend," I knew I was in for a meal made with love.
I enjoy the food and the service provided by New Kam Lai. The fried half of chicken and green bananas or the string beans with garlic sauce and brown rice are great my favorites so far. I rarely consume pork, but i tried the spare rib tips with extra bbq and hot sauce it was so good. I would recommend this place.
Unbeatable value. The place definitely looks like it's seen some use, but they're putting out good food. The vibes in there were great.
Quick and tasty typical Cantonese dishes. Well-run establishment with very fair prices. Top notch value for your time and money.
I'm an out of towner craving Chinese, and the reviews were good, so yeah. Why not? Turns out they were right. Super good, super friendly. I'd be a regular if I lived here.
I order takeout lunch from here on Thursdays and Fridays when I work on the UWS. Their service is excellent, their delivery time is always prompt and the food always tastes excellent. I highly recommend it.
Quintessential neighborhood Chinese food place, the food is excellent and the staff is the friendliest I've ever seen
Food is always fresh. Quick friendly service. They have been here for a very long time.
Exceptional food for great price and extremely friendly staff and food is done fast and tasty and delicious Chicken wings & half chicken are crispy just got ask them
Best food. Chicken wings cooked just right. another good dish is Singapore Mei fun.
I ordered the Party Treat. It tastes very good. I totally recommend it if you are having a party or just have many people to feed. Definitely one of the best Chinese food restaurant on the upper west side of 94st.
Beef with garlic sauce 9.5/10. A bit too much cornstarch. Not too sweet and not too spicy. Lot of beef and veggies. Curry chicken. 9.5/10 Amazingly tender. Not enough curry sauce kick. A lot of chicken meat.
A good, quick, cheaper Chinese takeout options, where you can get an entree and rice for under $20, that’s equally delicious and filling. I’ll be back!
I loved this place. Tasty food with fast and effective customer service. She did not make a fuss when I asked to put fresh hinder in my wonton soup 🍜 yumm

I love the food and prices. The no nonsense Chinese woman is the best and funniest 🤣
I have ordered 12 meals here. I keep coming back. Everything I have ordered has been fresh, flavorful, and a great value. I love how they refer to customers as "friend." The atmosphere speaks to me as being just right. I observed that most seem to do take out.
Food is great, folks treat you well.
Food is always good and the delivery is fast! This is the best Chinese place in the area! I’ve been a patron for the last 10 years.

They are ok. I take out from there for long long time. Usually food is good.
I retired from “fast food” Chinese takeout but was desperate one day ordered and been hooked ever since 👍
Take out - better than expected. Can’t beat it for the price. Friendly staff.
Fried rice was delicious and good portion.
Gotten much better with quite a few dishes, especially for a majority take out spot.
I love the singapore mei fun 🤩
Good priced Chinese food
You can’t see here no space for that and the service sucks. Place also looks kind of dirty but the food is decent.
I’ve only been to this Chinese restaurant maybe three times — all spaced months apart, like my attempts at personal growth. So imagine my surprise when the lady behind the counter remembered my order. Not just vaguely — like, with surgical precision. I don’t know if she’s got a photographic memory or a hit list, but I felt seen. And not in a comforting way. Our first interaction? A disaster. I had my earphones in like the antisocial degenerate I am. She called out my food. I didn’t hear. Chaos. Shame. I probably delayed someone else’s sweet & sour destiny. Her eyes said, “This one’s already too far gone.” Fast forward to my redemption arc. I come back. No earphones. Fully alert. Ready to engage in the sacred ritual of ordering greasy food I pretend is dinner. She yells out the total: “Nine seventy-five!” (or so I thought). I hand her a ten, proud of myself for functioning like an adult. And then it happens. She stops. Stares at me. Not just any stare — that long, horrified, “Are you okay? Were you dropped as a child?” kind of stare. Then she says it again. Louder. Slower. Like I’m the last kid picked in life: “Twelve. Seventy. Five.” I panic. Apologize. Fumble through my crumpled bills like a man trying to pay for his sins. Hand her the correct amount and exit the premises in a fog of shame and MSG. I think the Chinese lady genuinely believes I’m not all there. And honestly, she might be right. Anyway, time to find a new Chinese spot. One where the staff doesn’t look at me like I eat glue and cry during cartoons
This is a takeout restaurant so atmosphere is not as important as cleanliness of the restaurant kitchen and the seating area. Both are good and New Kam Lai is worth ordering from. The customer service is friendly and super fast. Especially one of the young ladies who is probably part of management/ownership. She is so sweet and knows what to recommend. We love their eggplant and prawns sauteed in garlic sauce as well as their broccoli and shrimp sauteed with ginger garlic sauce. Very reasonable and worth the trek if you are picking up your dinner.

It's edible, better than the other Chinese restaurant on Amsterdam and W93rd. I get the feeling they are gonna close soon because.
I like to eat here for Dinner
Ordered beef and broccoli lunch special. Tasted all right though not spectacular. De ent amount of beef and of broccoli.
The food wasn't cooked properly I got chicken and broccoli with black bean sauce well don't and my sauce wasn't cooked it has jello looking pieces inside which is truly a turn off . And the egg roll wasn't fresh ether .
4/21 - I ordered Young Chow fried rice. It came with pork, shrimp, and chicken cooked in yellow rice. That is what I would expect of "House Fried Rice". I ordered shrimp fried rice two days ago, it tasted the same. I ordered online both times and my food is ready within 5-7 mins both times. If, the Young Chow fried rice had been made with white rice and a distinct flavor from the shrimp fried rice, my rating would have been four stars.

They work as they want! There is no clear schedule in the mode of work for several days in a row working in this area and trying to eat in this establishment this establishment was closed during lunch.
I ordered for delivery chicken and French fries. There were old fries mixed in with fresh fries. I asked for bbq sauce and they were very cheap with the sauce. The chicken was good.

Very nice people who work here however. I wouldn’t come back. First, I do not like how when I pay by card they just take the card from me without telling me the amount. I let it go once but it happened again and I do not know at the moment how much I pay. Second, I saw one of the workers who cook the food close someone’s French fries with his fingers without gloves. He touched the fries with his hands and handed it to someone. It’s very unsanitary. The food is a hit or miss. I had good sesame chicken but the chicken broccoli is too chewy. As much as the people are nice, I cannot justify after seeing someone touch the food with their hands.
1st time I ordered it was great, a couple of times after that my order would come up short. Half of what I was supposed to get, I didn't

Food was very bad. Tasted very chemically 0/10 Awful. Stay away from here
Terrible tasteless food. Arrived late. Rude people on the phone to deal with. Will never order from them agai.
Worst food ever would never again... I do not recommend.
Delivery guy was very rude and demanding a tip from me. I will not be ordering from here again
Fast delivery. Got me sick.
The driver stole my change
Wow - this was vile. From the lumpy beef in the soup, to the weird chemical taste in the rice...I wish I could get my money back. This restaurant has terrible food.
As soon as I walked in the store I heard a bunch of dogs barking and whimpering, sounds like it was coming from underground. Sketchy stuff, I hope they are not feeding people dogs
Oh no, the chicken was still raw! And it tasted awful .

Food seemed to poison me as soon as I ate a little it literally gave me a bad stomachache, I begin feeling lightheaded, followed with vomiting and diarrhea. This was my first time ordering from them and the food not only tasted horrible and undercooked but physically affected me. Do not eat from them, I can't stress it enough.
I just ordered the fried chicken wings. They were so disgusting I had to throw them out after just 2 bites. I cannot believe how bad the taste was. They should be ashamed of themselves. I've never in my life felt compelled to give a bad review for a cheap meal, but these chicken wings tasted so bad, I'm concerned as to what is really inside them. STAY AWAY!!!
I think this spot used to be good but has gone down hill. Recently, the food often tastes burnt or like the grill/fryer hasn't been cleaned. Unfortunate because they used to be great.
