My favorite spot to go to as a Hunter Student. I like the spicy ramen which really tastes like the packaged kind but I love how spicy it is. Seating is usually pretty open and they have a nice food ordering and pickup system.

Tasty, fast and friendly service, and super clean. I look forward to my lunch here. My favorites are the Jab Chae, Kimchi Fried Rice, and the Soft Tofu Stew.

Best korean lunch special you can find in Manhattan. Very generous portions of food. Tasty pork bulgogi and wings. Kimchi rice is good and that extra kimchi is so good! Very chill place, fast service!

I've been coming here regularly for months. This is the best place a Hunter student can go. It's close by and has a lot of variety. The location of the Hunter main campus limits food options, so this is one of the closest places around campus, and I absolutely love their army stew.

You order and pay at the front, then choose where you’d like to dine. I wasn’t sure what to order, but they suggested the hot stone dish, which makes the rice crispy and offers the option of squid. I decided to try it and enjoyed the “Korean” experience.

Had the vegetarian bibimbap bowl, portion size is big and the meal is healthy. The place was bustling during lunchtime. Small joint but clean and hygienic. Staff was very friendly. Tried to take a call inside but the place is kinda noisy.

Cozy place, lots of seating available. Bathroom for paying customers available, always nice. Food is fantastic each time. I usually get the teriyaki chicken box, for ~19$. Brought my buddies who swear by their bowls and soups. Service is good, friendly staff for the most part. Never had an issue.

The staff is very friendly. The service is really quick! No more than a 10 minute wait for my food. Not too pricey for midtown and they also offer lunch special on some days for certain times. The food was delicious and they have plenty of tables. Lots of options for food too!

Authentic food, excellent spicy noodles. I try to eat here weekly with a different friend. Every one enjoys the food. The staff is friendly and can explain everything on the menu. It's been a while since I have last eaten here, but it never disappoints. Yummy Spicy Ramen, delicious food.

This restaurant is small, basic, and for it being located on the Lexington Ave. strip it is not upscale at all...with its kitchen area being part of the dining area, you can see, hear, and smell the food cooking while you wait. The Meñu is pretty straight foward and simple and they also have it plastered up on walls for customers to see, with prices being fare and the service being ok, the food is just great, enough to keep you coming back for more or... ordering take outs. Overall this restaurant is good despite the lack of being fancy. Enjoy.

A very nice spot for a quick and tasty meal.My order was ready in about 10 minutes super convenient. The chicken was perfect:crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I was really happy with the taste and food quality. The only thing that could be improved was service my table wasn’t cleaned before I sat down.Hopefully, they pay more attention to that next time, because the food itself was excellent.

This spot is perfect for enjoying a quick and delicious variety of Korean dishes. From galbi, soups, and kimbap to bibimbap and Korean-style fried chicken, the menu offers something for everyone. I tried the kimchi stew, served in a piping hot stone pot, accompanied by pickled radish and kimchi as side dishes. The first bite instantly transported me back to Korea—it was perfectly spicy and packed with flavor. The aged kimchi, tender meat, and tofu blended beautifully. With New York’s first snowfall yesterday, enjoying this warm and authentic kimchi stew on a cold day was pure comfort. One downside, however, is that aside from the stone pot, they use plastic and disposable containers for everything else. The rice bowl, side dish plates, and even the utensils were all made of plastic. It would be great if they could switch to reusable tableware in the future. I’m still looking forward to coming back to try more dishes!

The Kimchi soup here is delicious! It is served boiling hot! It is spicy and chock full of good soup ingredients. The only downside is that the restaurant is not exactly attractive. It looks like a roadside stand to be honest. But I can't wait to go back!

Korean Express is a great lunch time spot if you work in the city, sometimes it’s crazy packed so call in advance if you have a short break. The food is always good and fresh. The kimchi fried rice might be the best thing they have there. The wings are super crispy and juicy. You also can’t beat their lunch special $13 for a good portion of food. Only thing is if you get French fries they don’t have ketchup not a deal breaker for me tho

Fast service, good prices, good food, and generous portions. Just what the name of this place promises. We had the combo Bulgogi and chicken with steamed rice plus chicken Udon. Got lots of beef and chicken in my combo. The soup stock was very tasty. Perfect for a quick meal on the run. Drop me a comment or a like if you found this helpful.

I have been to this casual Korean place a handful of times for their lunch special. It is $12.95, which is very reasonable for Midtown East. This is evident from the number of people online during those hours ordering takeout or eating in person, with a line commonly forming. The special comes with one base and two dishes. The bases include various styles of rice, such as Kimchi fried rice, japchae/잡채 (or as they write jab chae,) salad, or fries. The dishes range from the standard KBBQ options like bulgogi to other dishes such as Tteok-bokki (or as they write teokboki,) dumplings, and Korean wings. It also includes a little thing of pickled radish/danmuji and some kimchi. The first time, I had the jab chae noodles, beef bulgogi, and teokboki. The sweet potato noodles/japchae had a mild sesame oil flavor with a handful of vegetables, including scallions, carrots, and others, and were a little sweet. The bulgogi was alright, with a milder sweetness than usual and a tad too much chew. The teobokki was chewy as expected with a mild gochujang flavor and with plenty of fish cakes/eomuk, which was appreciated. The second time, the kimchi fried rice was very lightly flavored, the teobokki was good like last time, and the spicy pork/jeyuk was better quality than the beef, though a little bit less spicy than I would have liked. Also, the onions could have been cooked down a bit longer. If you don't mind a milder Korean food than at some other spots, I would recommend this spot for lunch. It's obviously not as good as some of the places in either the Koreatowns on 32nd/35th, but it makes do. However, if you want a bit more heat and prefer chicken, walk to K-Bap on the west side.

My wife and I came here for an early dinner- the food was okay. Not outstanding but okay. It didn't taste as good as other authentic dishes I have been served in the past. Many dishes were not as warm as they could have been. I ordered Ramen and kimbap, and ttoboki, Service was not as great as it could have been. I felt like I was being treated like I was a burden rather than a customer. I had to tip so it felt like I could have been treated with more friendliness. The staff was not rude but definitely NOT ATTENTIVE either. However, I do appreciate the many small dishes we received to compliment our food and the Korean spicy sauce was delicious. The prices were not reasonable either. It is a pricy restaurant for the lack of service and mediocre cuisine. My wife and I will not be returning. To add- They never pick up the phone. My wife and I wanted to reserve the tables here however we could not reach anyone. It is busy so we may be understanding there. To those reading the review- we would suggest better Korean restaurants for the prices they give here. The price is not worth the food here or service. >Review by Jack and Marissa

I found this restaurant when I was looking for a quick meal before heading home after a recent shopping trip to Bloomingdale’s. After reading the reviews I decided to try them out. Korean Express is a fast-casual Korean restaurant. Most of the restaurant is taken up by the open kitchen and counter but there are plenty of small tables. They offer the standard Korean fare; japchae, mandoo, wings, kimbap, etc. Since I was in a hurry, I decided on a ordering the Korean Fried Chicken 6 piece wings ($8) and crispy fries($5). The wings were actually really yummy! It had a nice crunch and good flavor. The meat was very juicy, and the pieces were pretty large. It was a really nice surprise. The crispy fries were okay. They did not look like shoestring fries as was described on the menu but rather regular French fries. The fries themselves were fried perfectly and not too oily. It came with an aioli mayo dipping sauce that was kind of bland. Nevertheless, it went pretty well with the wings. This restaurant is an inexpensive option, especially for this neighborhood. The décor has seen better days, but the food is actually pretty good. And the service is quick and friendly. Next time I’m in the neighborhood, I’m definitely coming back here.

the food tasted like nothing. overdone teokbokki, dry bulgogi rice, and bland kimbap. its a horrible sign when the fries are the best part of a korean meal. really put a damper on our night in nyc

Gross!!! Never coming back! They put a cricket in my food knowing bibimbap is mixed after it’s in the hot stone and the bug was there on the side which I can only assume that they put that purposefully. The flavor of the food was also tasteless. Wasted $21.

Discriminatory. Told me the place closes at 9p.m. before I placed my order and when I was going to use the bathroom before leaving and before 9p.m. the Asian lady behind the counter looked stunned. Went back upstairs to see a nice Caucasian couple still enjoying their meal who were probably making a point to tell me to stay longer too. Don't go here. Horrible food too.

This place is a scam. I can’t believe it happened in USA. I ordered short rib and it costs more than all other beef on the menu. they charged me $41+ for this order after I made sure it is beef short rib. When I got the order, I know it’s not beef short rib so I brought it to then boss’s attention and asked why there was no bone on short ribs. She lied saying it’s boneless… why you take off the bone from the short rib and costs more work ? Also, it’s not beef short rib and it tastes so dried liked regular beef. Please avoid this place if you want authentic Korean food. And avoid the scam. She really thinks we don’t do groceries shopping or we don’t have common sense that we can’t differentiate types of beef. If you charged the price for beef short rib, please make sure give what we order. And it is nothing liked pic that is presenting in the restaurant

This is a very dissappointing korean food place.. we arrived at 8pm, we ordered a bibimbap. Where can you find bibimbap where the rice is served separately and the ingredients are like a salad bowl? Bibimbap consists of a sunny side up egg. Here it is an over fried egg. It also didnt have any shitake mushrooms. No tofu. Instead it was just a lettuce, cucumber, carrots, slices of bulgogi beef,no bean sprouts The bibimbap was served over a bed of lettuce like a salad. It is not a salad bowl. The staff argued they have always served it like this, telling us that their working for 17years in the shop. but i find that hard to believe considering i have ordered this dish many times and have never seen this presentation. They claimed only the hot stone bowl was served over rice. Even if that was the case, the bowl of lettuce should not have been there. There is a small dining area. We asked for plates since we were sharing two dishes, but the cashier told us they were not allowed to give out plates. They gave us 2 takeout bowls instead, the kind you would use for a small soup. Meanwhile, the staff was sitting at a table in the back using plates, but customers are not allowed?!? They dont know how to cook a korean food. I would not recommend this place. It was a waste coming here. A very bad experience. The staff should not argue with the customer when they clearly did not make the food properly. Hello!! We know better the ingredients.
