The pianist James didn’t know the song that I requested which was a hit famous song :( I was disappointed. But, the baked clams were so delish had to order two. Lasagna wasn’t bad. Went again recently and it was too late to catch the pianist :( 4 order of clams was delicious!

The portion sizes of food & wine pours are unbeatable! It’s tasty but not top rated Italian food for NYC. The staff were friendly and provided quick service. The piano bar makes it an experience in a beautiful atmosphere! I would absolutely go back!

THE EXPLORER

Three of us stopped by this week for dinner. We did not make a reservation so we were given an inside table near the piano and singer, unfortunately it was very loud in that area and hard to have a conversation. Best to make a reservation and get a better seat where it is quieter. The place is lively with the piano and singer. Most customers seemed to be having a very good time. However, the food was average. We shared a salad, Italian sausage with peppers, veal piccata and eggplant parmigiana. And a glass of good red wine. Overall the prices were quite reasonable.

TL;DR: Really great vibes, but mediocre food. Came here with a group of 3 on a Saturday night - had a reservation so no issues getting a table. The restaurant and bar area are cozy and rustic, really making you feel at home. The live piano player was FANTASTIC, perfectly toeing the line of laid back & upbeat, but never overbearing. Piano was a little loud at our table, but we were fairly close. The food, however, was fairly average. I got the shrimp scampi and the shrimp was over cooked, but the sauce was tasty and the pasta itself was just fine. The other diners with me had similar feelings about their plates. Good portions though. I would definitely return, but probably for drinks and to enjoy the music than for dinner.

The atmosphere here is fantastic — warm, lively, and elevated by the live piano and singer, which really adds to the experience. It’s a great spot for drinks and ambiance. That said, the food was underwhelming overall. The appetizers were below average: the mozzarella sticks had very dense, stale-tasting breading, and the stuffed clams (and mushrooms) felt overly heavy on breadcrumbs. The calamari was similarly forgettable. The carbonara (a very generous portion) was the highlight and genuinely good. However, the veal Marsala was extremely under salted, and the sauce lacked depth and flavor. Pasta and protein dishes were priced in the mid-$20s to $30 range, and the wine carafes at around $40 are a decent value. I’d return for drinks and the vibe, but probably not for a full dinner

The lasagna was okay, meat seemed pureed. We asked the waiter if anything came with it and he said, "No," so we ordered garlic bread. Minutes later, another worker brought us bread. The waiter was nice though, just didn't inform us correctly.

I hate to write a bad review because the food is delicious and atmosphere is great with the piano but something HAS to be said about the bartender (supposedly a manager). We have been to Mimi’s multiple time & how the older bartender women with glasses treated our group was unacceptable. It was my best friends birthday & we traveled 2 hours to go to Mimi’s because it’s one of her favorite restaurants. We were taking a picture & it was dark so we put on our little handheld ring light. It was on for 2 seconds & the bartender SCREAMS put that flash away at us. I could NOT believe it. It was so loud & so embarrassing my best friend was so upset. It was extremely hostile & rude. Then when someone said don’t yell at us she kept talking about it nonstop. Everyone was staring at our group & our fun night went to a poor night. Why is she barking orders behind a bar? If pictures & flash is not allowed then a manager should’ve walked over & told us. Not scream across the bar. It was uncalled for & i will never go back as long as that bartender is there. We were told by someone there that she does this often & there’s numerous complaints about her. Mimis really needs to think about their business because they have great food & they should NOT allowed customers to be screamed at. It will ruin their business. Also to add someone took pictures with flash a minute later & she had nothing to say.

Mimi’s is a fun, lively neighborhood spot with a buzzing atmosphere and dueling pianos - show tunes and old-school bangers that get the whole bar singing along. It’s a great mix of all ages and definitely a good time if you’re looking for entertainment. The service wasn’t great, unfortunately, but the food was decent- nothing amazing, but not bad either. Prices are fair and portions are generous.

The food was incredibly tasty and the environment was fun and playful with the piano bar. However, the service was incredibly slow and dismissive. My group of 6 came to this restaurant as visitors of nyc, yet experienced an immense amount of disrespect from the workers that dismissed each request we made simply because they were “too busy” and did not cater to make our experience special. They were rude and fought with us when we simply asked to split the check acting like we were inconveniencing them with a simple request. We were yelled at and ridiculed especially by a blonde woman that appeared to be the manager who the rest of the workers also feared. It was absolutely ridiculous.

My boyfriend and I were so excited to try this place. However the food was extremely lacking. We ordered calamari to start which was flavorless and didn’t seem fried correctly. I ordered lasagna which was just one flat noodle slopped with meat, sauce, and cheese. It had no flavor and didn’t even look like lasagna. My boyfriend got chicken parmigiana which at least looked correct but again lacked flavor. Overall, we wish we hadn’t of even paid. I had to go home and cook myself a second dinner.

We were a group of 7. Initial service and seating were great - nice staff. Piano music was very nice. Unfortunately, giving 2 stars because the food took over 1 hr to arrive ( restaurant was not fully packed) and was lacking flavor. Out of 7 mains, 4 were just pasta dishes. My chicken Marsala was also a bit watery. The mozzarella sticks and calamari appetizers also tasted like it was fried from pre bought frozen - not freshly made / breaded like other neighborhood Italian restaurants. Price was average - about $20 to 25 for basic Main entrees. Would recommend for the music, but not the food.

Disappointing Experience at Mimi Bar Manhattan I have been a loyal customer of Mimi Bar Manhattan for many years, and it has always been a place I enjoyed visiting. However, my most recent experience was extremely disappointing and far below the standard I have come to expect. During dinner with my wife yesterday, we were served by a waiter who spoke very limited English, which made communication quite difficult. When I politely requested assistance from another staff member, he insisted that he could handle our order himself. Unfortunately, the meal that arrived was not what we ordered, and the quality of the food was very poor. The dish appeared unappetizing, had an unpleasant smell, and did not seem fresh. This completely ruined our dining experience. In addition, the restaurant itself feels outdated and overcrowded, with small tables placed very close together. The overall atmosphere and condition of the interior — particularly the kitchen area — give the impression that it has not been renovated or properly maintained in many years. This raises concerns about hygiene and general upkeep. After this visit, I regret to say that I will not be returning to Mimi Bar Manhattan. It is unfortunate to see a once-reliable establishment decline in both service quality and overall standards.
