Best tacos in New York City. Best tacos in Manhattan. Get the Cuba taco It was delicious but get all the world tacos and all out of this world tacos just get anything you can get your hands on from this place because it's getting that good like come on now the tacos speak for themselves but they sing even louder than they speak if you just can let Fall upon your taste buds you will not be disappointed. Thank you planet Taco for making the planet the most tacolicious place
The Brooklyn and Manhattan tacos are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Packed with tons of flavor and portioned well. 2 tacos and a fountain drink total about $15. Not a ton of seating, and not the prettiest place BUTTT the tacos are really good.
Wings and burrito bowl is good as hell
So glad they've finally reopened! The food here is off-the-hook delicious and well worth every penny. The sauce selection is incredibly diverse, and every single one is really tasty (the scary sauce, however, is not for the faint-hearted...). My personal favorite is the steak quesadilla with chile de arbol sauce -- the steak is perfectly marinated and seasoned, prepared when you order, and always tender. Whether you're a NYC resident or a visitor to the city, Planet Taco should DEFINITELY be on your list of destinations.
Had the Lime Chicken and Al Pastor tacos! They were great and I got to choose a different sauce with each of them. Everyone there is really friendly and I can't wait to try their other tacos in the future.
A non-discriminatory establishment with excellent service, food and comfort. Highly recommended. Their hot sauces are actually hot. Not the hottest but certainly not for a weak tongue. Enjoy! Tell 'em Faro sent yah!
It was my first time in NYC. Walking Hell's Kitchen, I am looking for a Mexican spot for the wife and I. Found Planet Taco with its $7 margaritas/daiquiris. The wife had the "El Quesabarilla" or something like that.. Basically, it's a quesadilla but with birria meat and dipping juice. It was amazing! I had a burrito bowl. Had a long list of sauces ranging from "cold" to hot.. im soft, so I chose the 3 mildest ones. The person at the register was cool. Asked if it was my our first time and helped us choose what we wanted. He also stopped by a couple times to ask how everything was. Wasn't all in our business though... like that perfect mix of asking but not disturbing... honestly perfect. Definitely rate this a full 5 stars. Check it out.. you won't be disappointed imo
So good. Chipotle could never be this girl. She wishes she was, but she will NEVER be her.
Have been going here for years! So grateful for the customer service and wish they had locations out in Queens! Also, very appreciative of the artist they have on their staff/team!! Thank you for the creativeness and kindness.
Get over there and celebrate like an Irish Latino! Joshua is the resident leprechaun making sure you enjoy the experience. And the food is legitimately delicious with nuanced flavors and perfect portions!
I got the shrimp burrito and it was DELICIOUS!!! Definitely coming back!!!! Service was great! The woman at the register was friendly and offered great recommendations. The gentleman on the grill was fantastic!!! Great experience 😃
High recommended Food is very delicious drink so good music fantastic They have a super good quality-price ratio. Plus they are super friendly. I totally recommend it
Amazing amazing amazing! Went there and had the most amazing taco… called the Cuba it was rich in flavor so moist and tasteful.. my wife had the lime chicken with the garlic aioli sauce was to die for! some taco places their meats are always for me somewhat dry and bland, not this place. The prices were very reasonable being that it was In Manhattan and it was a nice Spanish ambiance. Definitely eating here again and recommending it to my friends.
Amazing hole in the wall taco spot! Get the Texan - tastes like a gourmet Taco Bell. Fish tacos, quesabirria fries, pozole, and s’mores taco were all great too! Love that they have 12 different housemade salsas.
This place is awesome. Food was delicious and service was so friendly
Great food for reasonable price. Large selections of frozen cocktails. Grab a seat outside for people watching.
I ordered through one of the delivery apps, and when I tell u the food was packed with love❤️and it tasted authentic and absolutely delicious and flavorful! Price wise, I think it’s reasonable and deserves every penny!!! I want to go there in person and experience dining in. I bet the people are as welcoming and homey as their food was!!! I’m coming back for u guys!!! Yours sincerely, Philly Girl
My coworker Hester and I recently purchased tacos and dessert from Planet Taco. Everything was delicious. We had quick delivery. Most importantly to me was the presentation of each dish that was ordered. I will continue to support this establishment and invite other team members as well.
Hands down the best tacos I have ever eaten! With a wide variety & incredible flavours, you will find yourself ordering more than once! The staff are skilled, kind, and wonderful at what they do. Had the Philadelphia taco which was our favourite, birria, shrimp taco, lime chicken taco, Brooklyn, & adobo chicken is great! -xo
Delicious! Loved the Birria tacos, veggie tacos. My husband enjoyed the spicy Italian sausage tacos but they weren't for me. They taste exactly how you'd expect, so if you're in the mood for that, give it a try! Everything is done with expertise and I loved it.
My coworkers and I love coming here after a long shift since they are open late and have this way of bonding with service workers:) the staff is all incredible (special shoutout to Eduardo, Dave and David <3 ) oh and those margs are dangerously good and affordable
So good I forgot to take pictures before we ate! Tried this place on a whim and we're SO glad we did. I'm a vegetarian and got a burrito bowl with portabella- it was delicious! Chipotle level portions for a great price. That + a drink & 3 of their delicious sauces came out to under $20! My boyfriend got 3 different tacos and finished them all - and he's a picky eater. Vibes are great too, it's very fun and casual with decent seating for the size. And they have a clean bathroom! Overall, totally recommend!!
Breakfast: had a veggie taco, breakfast burrito and some fried tacos with green salsa and scrambled eggs. Really really good. Came back for taco dinner and drinks. Music inside is very loud, but sitting at the sidewalk is relaxing and perfect
Visiting from out of town and was craving a burrito. I went on Grubhub site and took a stab and ordered from Planet Taco. Boy was I in for a treat. It was by far the best burrito I’ve ever had and I’m from San Francisco where burritos run wild. Tasty, juicy and perfect proportions of carnitas and beans and rice. Sauces on the side so the burrito didn’t arrive soggy. Will order again before I leave.
Came here with the lady.. tacos were amazing, service was A+, and the Margs… AMAZING! I wouldn’t go anywhere else, we were contemplating Los Tacos No. 1 but this place is the icing on the cake. Will be back.
This is one of my favorite spots for tacos in New York City. The quesadillas are also good. Sometimes just to come to this spot I probably pass 50 different taco places going from West Village all the way up to Hell’s kitchen just to eat here. Highly recommend.
The tacos was so good and came out super fast. Staff was super friendly. Music and video were cool, perfect before going to see a show. The margarita was strong too!
Omg! I’m so happy my friends and I stumbled upon this gem while bar hopping in the city. The tacos were really good and the menu was very creative! I opted to order “traditional” tacos but they do have themed tacos from around the world and some based on neighborhoods in New York. For example, there was a Manhattan chopped cheese taco as well as a Japanese inspired taco. I thought the menu was very creative and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. I ordered the grilled shrimp taco, carnitas and the fish taco. All of the tacos were good but the fish needed a little more love(seasoning). Overall I enjoyed my meal and the service. The business is a bit small so it’s not ideal for dine in but you can if you’d like too. I look forward to visiting again.
The new kid on the block. And they are making some noise. Tried their Cuba and chorizo taco and absolutely loved the meat. The salsa’s were fantastic and definitely world a try. They have a so many to choose from and they are happy to substitute one for another. I might go in to try the Cuba or chorizo on a burrito with the chipotle Mayo next. It was delicious!
amazing food, and the fresh chillies in the tacos were just the hot-surprised I needed. Warm and friendly service, quick. Except the good but a lil loud music it was a great experience
I think this is a new spot in the neighborhood. I had their adobo chicken, al pastor and the birria taco. Wasn't a fan of the birria but i loved the other two. But, the adobo was my favorite! The chips are really thick which is off putting I wouldn't order that again. But i love their options of their sauces 😍
great local taco spot that stays open later than scheduled on weekends. the menu is big enough to please anyone in the crowd. i loved everything i got, they were really balanced in flavor where you can not just taste the protein but each individual component that elevated the taco to something special. the italian shrimp taco was funky with the olives and fried shrimp? and i really enjoyed the use of ingridients in a taco. the chicken lime was also really good and i got a second round. the standout taco was the cuban one where the pineapple just burst all that pork flavor into another world. it was bomb. can't wait to come back!!!
This place rocks. Giant menu with a great variety of tacos, bowls and other goodies. They also have a bunch of different homemade sauces that add even more flavor to the food. Cool vibe, music and great margaritas and frozen drinks. Will definitely go again!
Although we like most of the menu, we really like the birria. The chef Jessy makes first rate birria. We come back often. The prices are reasonable especially considering the quality of the food. The atmosphere is casual, not fancy.
Loved the food, loved the prices! I stayed in NYC for eight days—seven of which I ate there! Their tacos are even cheaper than most of the food trucks around Manhattan. Chicken Tinga and Chicken Lime would be my top picks! Their sauces are fantastic too, especially if you like it spicy.
I would die for Planet Taco. If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be a burrito bowl from Planet Taco. Every day I contemplate whether I should order one or not. The serving size is big. It is so good just get it! Don’t ever get chipotle again and get Plane Taco. **UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER** Still my favorite place! Finally went in person. It was so good as always. Great portion of each component as always. AMAZING choices for sauces. 10/10 still.
Ate here June 25 Food itself is very delicious and reasonably priced. I got three different tacos: Birria Beef, Al Pastor, and Cuba. Each were very flavourful There is plenty of seating and the atmosphere is very chill Some things to note: This is an "order from the register and seat yourself" place. Service is very lax. If you order a drink you have to grab it from the fridges in the back after you pay. I recommend checking their online menu to see what type of drinks they have prior to ordering Will definitely eat here again
Holy cow. What a great experience with my son. I was a little worried about our options near Broadway, but this was wonderful. Surprisingly, the best hard shell tacos I’ve ever had, great sauces, but most notably they were fun and engaging in the best way. Lost 3 Janga matches to my son and enjoyed every minute of it. Great restaurant, fast, practical, and fun. Josh is the man!
The adobo chicken taco was more flavorful than the carne asada taco. Both chicken and steak were soft and the meat portion was adequate. Guacmole was well seasoned. The plain chips were too thick for me but they add some purple chips to the order which were easier to bite into. I liked both the tres chiles and habanero citrus sauces which were not overly spicy. Staff was courteous. Would suggest trying this place if in the area.
Food is great, drinks are not, they are crap and only sugar, stay away from any ‘booze’ offerings Staff is welcoming and food quality is good
I have been waiting for my 2 burritos for over 20 minutes now and the store is not that crowded. I hope they are able to streamline their service and have their food served faster as other businesses in New York City. Let’s hope it’s worth it as it’s my first time visiting them. On the flip side they are extremely nice!
The tacos were delicious. Just pick one. You won’t be disappointed. It’s more of a take out place. A few tables inside and out. The people working there seemed like they all had a gun to their head. No napkins in the dispenser and there was no hurry to fill it although a steady stream of customers were in and out. It happens I guess. Take out is the way here.
Good for Tacos, bad for dine-ins! Chicken Tinga and Crispy Fish tacos were great. But music... music was so loud that it made difficult to speak. Heat bothered outside, while the sound bothered inside. Seems like a fun place, but could go easy on the sound! You order by the counter at the bar, and the team delivers it to you.
I came on a Friday during lunchtime, looking for something quick. Planet Taco has a festive, yet dark environment. It has a few communal tables and a limited number of two tops. There were a ton of people in here for the lunch rush. Don't be intimidated by the huge menu! Pick a few tacos, and you get free sauces. Service at the counter was friendly and prompt. As for the tacos themselves, they were good and I'm sure they'll be someone's favorite (albeit not mine). I got chicken thigh, steak, and grilled fish with avocado, of which the steak was by far the best. The sauces were excellent. The shells themselves started falling apart, because the warmed corn tortilla couldn't stand up to the juice from the proteins. Three tacos, a drink, and tip came out to around $20. Overall, I think it was fine, 4 stars accounting for the price. All very solid and good, and their birria is supposed to be very delicious. I prefer corn tortillas with a little more structural integrity! Worth patronizing and good for a lunch spot.
I had a shrimp taco and a birria taco. Both were tasty & prices were very reasonable. Customer Service from the girl at the cash register was lacking! She approached the register on the phone and barely greeted me as I attempted to order. Never assume that someone at your restaurant is a regular. This was my first time there, and the energy and attitude from the cashier was not welcoming at all. She said she was charging my Friend the price for a plastic bottle, and that she should go back to the refrigerator and grab the bottle. There was a glass bottle and a can available. There was no plastic bottle. When my friend brought up the glass bottle, she was told that it would cost more. That would not have been an issue at all, it’s just that there was no plastic bottle of the beverage that she selected. There was only a can, and I assume that the can would have been cheaper. Again, the cashier seemed like she had an attitude, and eventually tried to make it better by just going ahead and giving my friend the bottled beverage. There were lots of guys in there hanging out drinking beer bothering us as we trying to enjoy our tacos. There were three of us- We ordered 6 tacos, 2 each- they brought out all 6 on 2 trays. This made it difficult to eat without making a mess. We had to request a third tray . Again the tacos were pretty good (aside from the crispy fish one-my friend said it was a little dry) , but the service was pretty trash. I’d rather go somewhere with consistent, friendly service.
The food is fine, had better, but very small portion in comparison to the price. It's not really worth the cost for a tiny sample and also to be mindful - unfortunately, there are large rats at least 3 passing within the outside eating area of the restaurant within its vicinity. The avocado sauce, in my humble opinion, tastes better overall than the roasted tomatilles in case when comparing sauces. Additionally, place is very petty with their sauce, quite small, and should at least be three sauces for three tacos ordered; especially for the price. On the bright side, the horecta tasted fresh 👍
Ummm the food was good but are they amazing? No unfortunately. Tacos should be amazing or not exist at all. First off take your time warming up the tortillas. Half cold tortillas are not tasty. I guess these tacos have too many condiments. The best tacos are just good warm meat, good salsa, and hot tortillas. The biggest downfall is that this restaurant is tiny with no good seating options. Not sure how they offer Berria, carnitas, grilled fish, fried fish, and ten more options from a tiny kitchen. In Mexico, just one option takes up the whole kitchen. My guess is either frozen or trucked in from a central kitchen???
Great authentic tacos. They have a wide variety of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. I ordered the s special taco of the month. The shrimp mango tacit which was delicious, I ordered the pastor and a beef and cheese taco. All very good and super affordable. My mom tried the green rice and the Manhattan and system Island taco in hard shell. The liked them a lot! I tried the green rice it was very well seasoned. To top it off I had some churros. Freshly fried crispy and some Caramel dipping sauce. They did take a while to prepare the order so I'd say call and order in advance. Especially if it's during lunch hours. Cause I called in and still had to wait some time before I received my order. Other than that staff are pleasant. Food is fresh.
Flavors are pretty good. Prices are good for the relatively large portions. Service was good but fairly slow (I was hoping for a quick taco). They only use one tortilla per taco, which were in a couple cases damp, so everything fell apart and I had to use a fork lol. That hasn't happened in a while.
I spent $46 at Planet Taco and honestly, the amount of food was really small for the price. The girl at the cash register was very sweet, which I appreciated. I also got a virgin colada, but there was something black floating in it, so I had to throw it out. My wife got the coco margarita and that was fine. What really upset me though — my wife is allergic to shrimp and we were still given a shrimp empanada. That’s a serious mistake that could’ve gone really wrong if we didn’t catch it ourselves. I had to toss that too. Overall I’d give it a 6/10. Service was friendly but attention to detail definitely needs work, and the portions don’t justify the price.**
Update: After leaving we discovered that the stools give you splinters. Ruined a pair of leggings and made for a very uncomfortable walk back. Go for the tacos, but beware the seating. These are damn good tacos. Do not miss the Cuba. And the Carne Asada is just a perfection of the classic. SO GOOD.
The burrito is sorta good and has potential to be great if they would put more meat. Raise the price if you have to, so we can get more meat. I ordered a al pastor burrito and I am just chewing hard pieces of pineapple no meat. I love Al pastor with pineapples but there’s usually a good balance but this one It made me gag because I’m just eating a pineapple burrito. But please put some more meat in there. It has a lot of potential if you did.
One reviewer said it was the best burrito they ever had, one said the worst. So I had to try one myself to find out (I got al pastor). Verdict: most medium burrito I have ever had. Nothing seriously wrong with it, but nothing exciting about it either.
Alright here's the lowdown, this place has good food but everything else about it could use some work. Went in to order something I saw on the image carousel on the tv screen, when the person beside the person at the register said they don't do it while the person at the register rang up the item. Then I had to order something larger, to get something similar because that's what I came into the place for, and was wanting. Then, my drink wasn't added to my order, and had to made a second transaction to get a cup for fountain soda. And all their napkin dispensers were jammed, and tables were very messy even though me and a friend were the only non-workers in the place. And this place has a very confusing theme which me nor my friend could make sense of.. Planet Taco and there's just other planets hung up around the place like a 4th grader's science project. More Context: I wanted birria tacos, ended up having to order a birria-filled burrito.
They apparently created a new listing for this establishment and renamed the old one HK Cantina, I suspect they did it so they could shed the bad reviews for that one.
One of the worst taco places ever . Charged me for 5 instead of 3. They tried to scam me I don’t even know why , looking nice but people inside are miserable.
Customer service was horrible came here at night and no one spoke to us We seated ourselves, we cane to sit and eat we ended up having to order online because noone spoke to us, when I went to pick it up at the counter to bring it to our table he just said name and handed me the bag, turned away. The food was good tho .
Don’t buy the burritos. They are gross. Very unbalanced with tons of rice and nothing else. Maybe they ran out of ingredients? lol. Highway robbery
Not sure why they have good reviews—very finicky, but bad quality. Our tacos were soggy, meat tasted stale and bland. The veggies were clearly frozen and tasted like they had been in the fridge for so long they absorbed the taste of all kinds of other random food. Salsa tasted like chemicals. Worse of all it was super hot in the place and one of the workers was maskless with sweat streaming off his face. Don’t want to imagine where the sweat he didn’t wipe with his arm landed… Positive notes: the cheese was good quality and service was very friendly.
Ordered for pickup- was told it was ready so in I went. Sat for another 15 min and guess what? The food was sitting there and no one bothered to give it to me. COLD tacos yuck. Never again!
Food is ok, but like the whole chain of events there just was genuinely miserable. I go in order my food and the despair begins. First, I decide to go buy a candy at the front on top of my food then get accused of stealing it, uncomfortable but cleared up. Next I sit around for a good 20 min possibly after my food is done, only when I bother the front do I see its ready. On top of the cold food I see the name on the receipt "BRAT" (nobody will be named that), I am done with this place.
Carnitas tacos were dry and flavorless and guac had zero flavor. The carne asada and al pastor were good but nothing I would come back for. Atmosphere is awful. People smoking directly by the door and employees enable it (gave out free food to them). Avoid this place.
I don’t understand all these good reviews. This food was absolutely inedible. To call it Mexican food is a disgrace. I order chips and guac, the guac was bland - no salt, no lime. The chips were stale and some were coated in cinnamon?! Who would put cinnamon chips with guac. The crispy fish taco was soggy and flavorless. The burrito was flavorless as well. It was lower than a chipotle. Disgusting. This was probably the worst food I’ve had in a long time. If you want delicious, authentic Mexican food, go to Tacos Cuautla Morelos. They have some of the best Mexican food I have ever had in New York City.
Charged for delivery but they had no1,asked for money back or cancelation they couldn't because it was the guys first day & they are short staffed with only 2 people then when 1 out of the 2 workers delivery the meal it was cold which I hate and reasons why I wanted to cancel my order..absolutely horrible service!! Poor judgement on staff and not professional at all i would never order here again.
The tacos are dry. Unfriendly, unprofessional and unwelcoming service (no greeting, server wearing AirPods so did not react when asking for the menu 3 times.
The burritos are a blob of rice. Basically whatever protein you order is a very tiny portion. Even the bean serving is tiny. You’re basically paying premium to eat a rice burrito. Can even taste the cheese. There was no cream. You’re literally eating a burrito jam packed with nothing then rice. I’m confident they are making $$$$ so why be so stingy?
Great service, however the chips were soggy, queso looked and tasted like prison food, the chorizo taco smelled like chemicals. The Cuba taco was 6/10 and tasty. Overall very surprised by the high ratings other folks have given. Maybe it was an off day, but I will go to another place for tacos.
This place for the 3rd time have missed up my order. While every single one of them was drunk wasted and telling me that my order is wrong.
