Avaliações de Thai Hot Box New York
Classic NYC-sized restaurant, which is code for cozy! The food was absolutely delicious—NYC Thai food is always such a win. We ordered the Thai iced tea, classic pad Thai (mouthwatering!), pad see ew, and fried ice cream. Every dish was a hit; the classics here definitely do not disappoint.
i come here often after church in the neighborhood, solo or with friends and family. the flavors are excellent and the price very reasonable with a wide range of options. i always recommend this spot to anyone i know in the neighborhood and several friends have also only adored this place. a standout spot in the UES in my book! i also find myself shazam/looking up songs whenever i’m there. i only wish the best for this nimble team! nunie is an excellent host. <3
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had! The drunken noodles were actually pretty spicy. This place is small and quiet. Great for a small group.
This little gem deserves all the appreciation I am about to shower at it. A modest size restaurant with a hip interior featuring a vinyl record wall displaying classics to modern artists, while amazing music plays in the background, they serve delicious Thai dishes at unbeatable prices. Tried the Tom Kha soup, sundried fried pork platter, fried tofu, and everything was delicious and balanced. The presentation was beautiful and portions were generous. The sticky rice in banana leaf added another level of authentic dining. My favorite was the sun-dried pork with sticky rice. I wish I had more than one stomach to try more dishes, which I am sure would all be incredible. I will be returning to try more soon. The staff was friendly and while a little on the tighter side, the space was well arranged and clean. The bathroom had an added touch of thoughtful interior. I would encourage everyone to give this a try.
Restaurant was small but it wasn’t overly busy when we came at 1:30pm on a Tuesday. The staff was very nice and seated me immediately as I waited for the other person. They had old records on the wall. The food look good and tasted just as good. Service was quick. Would definitely come back and try more. They also allow me to have the dessert sticky rice without the mango and they discounted the price. Yeh
I love the food that I ordered. The crispy belly is freshly cooked. And the rice is steamed to perfection. The dumpling is so-so. The staff is really nice and attentive. Very nice ambience, lighting and interior. Best of all, the place is spotless and it wont leave food odor in your clothes. Will definitely come back. Thank you.
A nice quaint, small restaurant very nice staff, everyone very attentive to customer needs. The food was very quick and tasty I got the Prig Khing for the first time ever and it was delicious! It had to spicy peppers and the description, which is the most that any item had, but it wasn’t terribly spicy. The vegetables that came in the dish had a nice crunch, and the beef was nicely cooked. No complaints. Would definitely get this again here but would also want to try new things out as well.
Overall Thoughts: This is a chill, aesthetic restaurant serving up delicious Thai dishes— especially tasty mock duck. Both the restaurant itself and the food presentation were very aesthetic, with a lot of thought put into both. The service is quick and friendly, and the prices are good too— especially compared to other Thai spots in the area. Food I tried: - Garlic sauce sauté with mock duck (5/5): This was my favorite dish from here. The mock duck was super tasty, with a delicious meat-like texture and strong garlicky soy sauce flavor. You can really taste the garlic in the sauce, and it was really good. - Bamee yok nah petd (3.8/5): I didn’t love this one as the noodles made up the majority of the dish yet they were kind of bland and overpowering. The duck was crispy and flavorful though. Because there wasn’t much else in this dish besides the noodles and duck, it was kind of a monotonous dish overall. - Pad woon sen with mock duck (4.3/5): This was pretty good— again the mock duck was amazing and the glass noodles were flavorful and well-sautéed. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.4/5 Food: 4.3/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5
Food was definitely high quality, especially for the price. Curry puffs (4 small ones in a serving for $8) were not bread heavy and were nice and crispy and flaky on the outside. Seasoning was well done and came with dipping sauce. Pad See Ew with roasted duck ($18) was well seasoned, on the saltier side, but still very good. Duck skin crispy and meat was on the drier side but not enough to call dry. Amazingly fast despite at least 5 pick up orders coming through. They were very easy to get the attention of (though that may have to do with it being a small space). Kindly took and boxed my leftovers. Loved the servers kindness. There was a mother and her two kids there, and they dropped a few belongings a couple times, and the servers were quick to notice and pick things up for them.
Unapologetic: what a surprise to find a fine Thai dining place in UES. I'm not Thai so I can't say whether the food is authentic, but what I can say is that all of their food is not watered down for the neighborhood. The rice roll was filled with chives and garlic two ways: stir fried and deep fried. The homemade sausage - what a delight! Flaky meat with ginger, chilies, and lime. The salmon entree came with fluffy, properly cooked jasmine rice. If you want to try Thai food undiluted, step outside the pad Thai and fried rice, and give the this place a shot. Don't believe me? A Thai grandma ate here at the same time as us.
Updated review after one year: Thai Hot Box has maintained the quality of its food. The crispy pork belly appetizer ($15 plus tax) and the classic fried rice ($16) are definitely worth trying. Original review: Thai Hot Box serves delicious food at reasonable prices. While they do offer lunch specials, I opted for the crispy tofu appetizer and the crispy pork belly and sausage over rice, both of which were excellent. The space is long and narrow but colorful and charming. It definitely warrants a return visit.
I was recommended the beef noodle soup and that was very tasty, as well as my friend's pad kra pow. I would say that the drunken noodle did lack a bit of flavor, though. The service was very helpful and attentive, and I loved the vinyl theme they had going on. It felt like a Thai record store on the inside!
Total Score: 8.33 Bathroom: N/A Didn’t use the bathroom Customer Service: 3.5/5 Checked up on us and was quick with service Ambiance: 4.5/5 The vibes are immaculate here. Love the wall decorations Food: 4.5/5 Got the green curry and it was HOT. But was rich in green (idk what even green curry is made of but it gave deep green flavor). Rice was good, and so was spring rolls. Wow: 0.5/1 It is what it is advertised, Thai, hot, and a Box. Total Score = (CS + 2*AM + 5*FOOD + WOW)/0.9
Looking at 1/4 roasted duck with noodles. Coming in through the doors, the server behing the bar gives me a " I don't want to deal with your kind look". That's fine because I imagine I tip well and am courteous. Look at the menu and decide on the pictured delicacy, ( old chicken is my guess with soggy Thai? Noodles drenched in oil) One of the cooks brings out the dish. Adorned with an inedible plastic leaf. The 'duck' must of weighed 1lb for the serving size, overcooked grossly. If I wasn't starving and hadn't already paid $23 and change and tipped $6 for an even $30 before even seeing the quality of the food, I would of asked the establishment if they were prideful of serving the pictured dish. The second picture is of the food I could not finish. Rating 3/10 Thanked the bar server, feeling slightly sick in the stomach. Would avoid this establishment.
