Ambiance (5/5): It feels super trendy coming in with the dark lighting, cozy vibes. It is incredibly crammed inside. Somehow we managed to get seated in the front area without a reservation on a Friday at 7:30p?! The lines got longer soon thereafter. Service (5/5): the waitress provided some recommendations upon request. She checked in on us often and our waters were always full. The food came out pretty fast after working too!! The bill came quickly despite wanting to stay to chitchat, but we were never rushed out once we paid! Food (5/5): I don’t usually choose Italian but the two dishes we got were both very delicious!! Gnocchi: the flavors of the truffle were forward but not overpowering. The gnocchi was soft and soaked up the delicious sauce. Vitaello Gratinato: the veal was very tender. The small cubes of potato had perfect exterior crunch. The sauces all worked very well together.
This is third time coming back here! I loved it every single time. The only thing I don't like is the drinks, lol. But that's honestly ME. Because I prefer sweet wines and drinks and every time, I have tried a "sweet" wine from UVA, well, it wasn't. They were always dry, and I don't like it at all. The food has never failed, and the aesthetic is absolutely stunning! I went last week and it's Halloween dressed but it's still classy. I will be returning!
Incredible service, gorgeous outdoor seating, absolutely delicious food & unbelievably fresh bread - couldn’t love this place more. This is your sign to come here!! xoxoxo
I’ve been to Uva 2-3 times now and each time I am blown away by how incredible it is to dine here. The second you step off the sidewalk and into the restaurant you’re greeted by some of the most professional hostess’ in the city. The drinks are always great, their wine recommendations never miss, and at no point in time have I ever thought to myself “where is my waiter?” The basement dining event area is perfectly decorated to make you feel as if you’re in Italy. This past weekend we had my brothers rehearsal dinner here and we couldn’t have been happier. The short rib was outstanding, the shrimp was perfectly buttered/charred, and the martinis were a 10/10. Excited to try out Nightly’s as well as Lusardis soon.
I came to Uva late at night around 11 p.m. with a few friends, and even though the kitchen was about to close in ten minutes, the staff still welcomed us and let us order. The service was excellent, super attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and really good, and I found the prices to be very reasonable. The ambience was cozy and inviting, and since it’s almost Halloween, their decorations definitely added to the vibe. Overall, great experience, good food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. Well done! 👏
UVA is a classic UES spot that never disappoints—perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend. The food is always reliable. I can never come here without ordering the truffle gnocchi—it’s rich, flavorful, and honestly hard to beat anywhere else. The gorgonzola pear salad was light, refreshing, and very good. The meatballs were just okay—small in size (six per order, good for sharing) with a sauce that tasted more onion-forward than I remember. Not bad, but not a standout. Service is consistently strong—the food came out quickly, our waitress was attentive, and the whole staff is always accommodating. A neighborhood staple for a reason.
The last day of our New York stay we wanted to have real authentic Italian food after our Guggenheim visit.... yes, this place was featured at NHONY but to me that would not matter. Pappardelle and Gnocchi Ricotta were our main dishes after a delicious salad (Bianca) and polpettine. Delicious, full of flavor and obviously using the correct ingredients as we did not feel drowsy afterwards (seems to be an issue with Italian places in our experience - maybe an issue California?). Finished our meal with real gelato and a torta di mandorle (almond tart). Ambiance? The place is quite dark but luckily we were able to sit at the back patio which helped a LOT. Quiet and plenty of daylight, while still easily accessible for the staff. Great place.
Love this place! The atmosphere is awesome very romantic vibes, dimly lit many candles. There’s also a seating area in the back that has a glass ceiling so the light comes through if you’re more into a sunny atmosphere over a dimly lit one. The food was great I will be back for the pasta & lots of cheese selections!
Beautiful spot to go for a birthday dinner. Menu is great, me and my friends shared the Ragu Pappardelle , the eggplant lasagna, the pesto pasta , the caprese salad, and the meatballs. Loved that I could order half a portion of a pasta cause I wasn’t feeling like eating too much after the apps, so you have that option. Prices were a bit higher than I expected. Service was ok. Server made good recommendations and gave a good service overall.
Went to this place for dinner. They really got a big place inside also have outdoor sitting. I ordered gnocchi pasta, seafood soup. The food served at good temperature. Also the taste was good too. However, they made the place so dark with low light that it’s not giving a good ambience.
Wonderful resturaunt and a fantastic experience! The waitress was charming and kept the flow of food at a steady pace so that we weren't overwhelmed by all of our food options, making the meal a steady four course experience. The food was fresh and delicious in flavour, perfectly cooked and prepared. This is a wonderful date spot and one I would gladly recommend to my friends!

The place is nice and the food was ok, but the experience was disappointing overall. My biggest issue was the service, which felt rushed from the moment we sat down. We never felt welcome to relax or enjoy our meal, and it was very clear they were trying to turn the table as quickly as possible. To make matters worse, right after we paid, the manager asked us to leave. That completely soured the experience and is not what I expect when dining out. I won’t be coming back.
We started our Christmas Eve dinner at Uva fairly underwhelmed. We ordered the calamari and some bruschetta, as well as cocktails that were expensive and “meh.” We had a lobster or crab pasta on the nightly special menu but felt it was incredibly overpriced for what you got. But the Pappardelle al Ragu di Vitello and the Petto D’Anatra totally saved the experienced. Both were brilliant dishes with a lot of layered nuance. The tiramisu was by far the best I’ve ever had - and I’ve had some good ones! Meal was very affordable, restaurant beautifully decorated and spacious. We will definitely be back, but we’ll probably stick to the main menu and their wine list.
The truffle ricotta gnocchi was exceptional! Pillowy soft with a perfectly balanced truffle aroma and a delicate richness from the ricotta. Every bite felt indulgent yet beautifully crafted. It does get noisy when full, and the tables are set close together, which can make the space feel a bit crowded. A true hidden gem in NYC that’s worth revisiting for the gnocchi alone. ✨
Our love affair with Italian food continued with a very good dinner at Uva (reservations recommended on prime nights). We were seated to an absolutely packed restaurant at our promised time and noise levels were on the average end with pretty much all tables occupied. The restaurants felt sufficiently staffed though, and there was absolutely no service issue, in fact, it was fantastic. Uva has a very romantic vibe to it, and as inviting as their cocktail and wine list looked, our dry January had comfortably flowed into March, so we got straight to ordering our dinner which included their ROBIOLA CHEESE AND BLACK TRUFFLES ($12) and POLENTA TARTUFATA ($19) as appetizers - both absolutely fantastic, but the Robiola being the winner. For mains, we got a few pastas including RIGATONI ALLA SICILIANA ($26), CAVATELLI AL FIOR DI PESTO ($26), and PENNE GRATINATE ($26) - Cavatelli being an absolute winner! Their desserts though were really fantastic, especially their TIRAMISU ($11) which was very delicious. We will definitely return here again!
It’s good that it open late night, so we stopped buy around 11pm. The waitress was friendly at first but after we placed the order, we never saw her again. We were sitting with empty glasses and busboy came to ask us for last call and tell us the kitchen is closing if we want something more. He was amazing really! Food was good. I don’t like pesto, but felt like having it that night and didn’t regret. Also the polenta with truffle and ricotta was the best I ever had
Food 8/10 Solid traditional pasta, a very local spot on the UES. The gnocchi was fluffy and chewy at the same time, super filling I couldn’t finish it. Calamari turns out wasn’t fried, but came in a salad, which was really good too. Atmosphere 8/10 Definitely a place you come for an authentic Italian experience, loud yet elegant, a lot is going on but it’s organized and makes sense. Service 8/10 Good recommendations.

Nothing was really great. $18 per glass of red. Very basic cheese plate. Salad was just ok, edible but not great. Did not love the service. Did not love the overall bill. overpriced for not much
A true gem on the upper east side. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. The service was great simple pasta, good wine list very cozy vibes! I would totally come back.
The service was very good. But the food was bland. We were disappointed in the lack of any taste in the fish dish , and the pasta was uninspiring watery vegetables.

I really wanted to like Uva after having dined at Uva Next Door and loved it. We had a reservation yet still had to wait over 25 minutes outside on the sidewalk for our table. I understand a short, few minute wait but that was crazy. It begs the question what’s the point of making a reservation in the first place? Inside was extremely busy and deafeningly loud. The tables were tiny and way too small for the amount of plates, glasses and bottles on the table. The vibe was cosy and spookily decorated for Halloween but it was just too crowded to enjoy it properly. At times, my server could not hear me and I had to shout to give my order. The olive oil they serve with the bread is very tasty; the dried meats were good, but sliced very thinly. The calamari was ok; the predominant flavour was a burnt herb. The menu is pretty big but the portions are rather small. I had the pappardelle ragu; the pasta itself was lovely and wonderfully cooked, but I found the ragu flavourless. They have a good wine selection and are happy to make your cocktail of choice if they have the ingredients. Service was a little slow. All in all, it was decent, but I was definitely expecting a lot more.
We chose this restaurant for a special celebration. Unfortunately, our dinner was ruined. We arrived without a reservation and were quickly seated in the back, which was very nicely decorated and cozy. The waiter who served us was very rude and impatient. He took our drink order; we ordered a bottle of wine, and he brought a beer. The waiter rattled off the daily specials at an incomprehensible speed and manner. We wanted to order an appetizer, and he rudely said, "I'll take your complete order later." At no point during the meal did he come over to ask if the food was okay or if we needed anything else. In fact, they brought us the wrong appetizer. We let him know we were celebrating a birthday, and he said nothing. We really didn't expect this kind of service after years of being loyal customers. I don't think we'll be back; it's not worth it.
Cozy, neighborhood restaurant...bread-tasteless...fine service...slow on mains...boring salad...gnocchi delicious...tiramisu much too large for one person...okay but wouldn't run back...5/10

Hostess was wonderful, waitress was horrible, wine was exceptional, bartender was mediocre, ambiance was intimate and cozy, food was good but I’ve had better!
Very limited menu. Very few choices for the gluten intolerant member in our group. Plus we got the food 45 min late as there was a health inspection happening when we ordered. They could have communicated that better -and maybe served bread and coffee more promptly as a back up - which they did but only after requesting repeatedly. Not going again. Our previous visits have been decent though.
I’m a UES local and have been to Uva many times for drinks — it’s always a fun spot. Since so many people recommended eating there, I finally decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is very cozy, but unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. We ordered the beef carpaccio, which had barely any beef — it was mostly arugula and cheese. The pappardelle with veal ragu tasted oddly like it had potatoes in it (I think those were actually big chunks of carrot). We also tried the short ribs, which were quite bland and tasted as if they’d been boiled before serving. There are so many great restaurants in the UES, so I’d skip Uva for the food.
Our waitress Caroline was extremely rude, rolling her eyes at me and walking away as I was speaking to her/making noises under her breath. Other then that it was fine, the food was good, but I rath…
