Love the staff and the food. I think I go so often that they know exactly what I am getting HAHA and the all you can eat sushi is amazing to go with friends. Will come back (as I have like 10 times)
I absolutely love this place for their All you can eat sushi for $31. They don't give you way too much rice like other places and they have such a great selection with amazing fish. It's been my favorite little sushi place for over a decade.
Tiny hole in the wall all you can eat sushi place. Great food that always comes out extremely fast. Friendly staff with a great location on the upper east side. I come here every time I’m in the city.
This sushi spot is a gem! The fish is consistently high quality, the service is top notch, and they offer the best all-you-can-eat deal in the city. I'm hooked and keep coming back here always recommend!
For $31 all you can eat sushi, this is pretty hard to beat. The quality of the fish is surprisingly good and the hand rolls are a generous portion of fish. The service is super attentive and quick. It’s a great deal for the price and satisfies your sushi cravings. Recommend the spicy salmon hand roll!
Had great experience recently! Great sushi for all you can eat, staff was lovely! Will definitely be back
Great quality sushi, very impressed. First time in NYC and first AYCE sushi that I tried after doing some online research. Can't imagine that there's another sushi restaurant here that will serve me this kind of sushi (and other Japanese dishes) for 25usd. Not skimpy on fish and very little rice, hope it stays this way because I'm going back tomorrow. Thanks all Yuka staff.
The fish was so fresh and the ayce deal is lowkey too good to be true
Great Sushi! One of my favorite places to get all you can eat sushi. They have a simple and very good system for ordering all you can eat rounds. Great vibes inside, I particularly enjoy the cloth curtain at the entrance it really makes you feel like you’re going into the right place. The waitress was very helpful and kind. Great sushi chefs. You can see them making your sushi while you at your table. Great overall vibes. Love to come here with friends.
I have been coming in here for years and it has always been a destination spot in NYC for people who love good quality all you can eat sushi amongst other things! Great value on food, drinks, and great service with friendly staff. Highly recommend
I’ve been eating at Yuka for over 15 years. I used to live a block away, and it was always a warm, welcoming, busy place serving excellent sushi and sashimi. As you can see, the prep is simple and the fish is just gorgeous. The hamachi Kama ( grilled yellowtail neck) is perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious- creamy, rich meat that’s never over cooked. They have an “ all you can eat” special, which I never get because I would probably explode if I ordered it- but men I’ve come here with have ordered it and pronounced it excellent. It’s an UES staple, and a gem. Come here and enjoy.
Extremely happy with our experience here. Everything tasted perfect and we were well attended by staff. Got a seat and had our food served in less than 10 minutes on a crowded weekend night. The Manhattan roll's texture is so soft and satisfying, and the Hana sake is sweet as. Having lived in Japan I always miss Japanese food and this did hit the spot.
All you can eat sushi place with great a la carte menu. My teenage son got his money worth, while the rest of the family ordered of the menu. Fish was very high quality, and my test dish, Saba / mackerel, was very fresh without the sharp taste you find other places.
I’ve been coming here for over 11 years! Wayback when AYCE sushi wasn’t really a thing. I’ve seen the old staff, old ways of charging (remember when they went to no tipping, or cash only on AYCE?) Absolutely different scene with Covid, was shocked there was no line pouring , people stacked inside. They follow covid protocols pretty well! Salmon here is top notch! Will say: Wish they had a premium tier +$10 get 50% less rice maybe some sashimi options (& limit to 2 or 3 orders) The salmon tataki is usually my favorite but noticed it being a tad saltier , my teeth crushed into the rock salt. Miso soup was good, just gotta ask for it. Staff is very nice. Place was clean! Still top notch in my book for east coast.
All you can eat is my favorite type of food and the owner and their team really go above and beyond to make sure you leave super satisfied. The sushi is high quality and the fried chicken options are super tasty. You can tell they take their restaurant business very personally and go the extra mile in everything they do. THANK YOU GUYS!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
I have been coming to this all you can eat establishment for at least 25 years and never once disappointed. In this day and age of inflation and high priced restaurants, this is still one of the best bargains in New York. Small bite sized sushi made to order with large selection of cut rolls & hand rolls. As a bonus, first serving of Saki with your meal is just $3.50 per person. Staff is always friendly and service with a smile.
Awesome AYCE sushi for $28! Was in a group of four and we ordered two “rounds”. Everything tasted good. There are some complaints about the quality but I can’t agree- it’s yummy and exactly what you’d expect for the situation and price. I saw some reviews that it also comes with free ice cream, I asked about this and they don’t do that anymore :(
We really like coming here. The sushi is fresh, delicious and at a good price! They have all you can eat for $30pp. They bring the food quickly and they have so many options to choose from , sushi, sashimi and even chicken wings! The place is a bit small and it gets really busy but they turn the tables quick so there's hardly ever a wait to be seated. The waitresses have everything down packed. They work together well to bring the food and drinks out fast. I recommend
We went there to try "all you can eat". It is 30.95 for person. The place was more crowded than we expected. The products are delicious and fresh. Especially the crunchy ones are the best in our opinion. In addition, we tried all the appetizers. They were pretty good. The miso soup that came before the meal was also delicious. However, I cannot say the same for hot sake. I definitely do not recommend. Despite being very cheap, it's still a complete waste. Also, the quality of the rolls decreased towards the late hours of the night. I couldn't tell if it was due to the fatigue or intentional. It may be helpful to get there early.
Sushi was good but the service far from it. They have a system for ordering with paper and pencil. When you order "cuts" you write a number and they bring you 4 times the rolls. (You write 1 they bring 4, you write 2 they bring 8 etc...). Now I did not see those instructions (my fault!). So when the waiter saw this and explained to me, I was going to rewrite my order accordingly. But she said she would take care of that. She obviously didn't. Our table was flooded with sushi rolls. I reminded her of what we said and she took back only some of them. Now, none of the waiters spoke good English so I gave up explaining. I ate all the rolls (12 spicy tuna when I ordered 4) and left. With no tip.
Great, I got there earlier than my friend and they kicked me out at the 1:45 hour time but only got through one round of food. Made it not really worth it
As far as AYCE sushi places go, this would definitely not be my top choice. It's definitely cheaper in both price and quality. There was an absurd amount of rice on many of the rolls, and most of them were kind of sloppily rolled so the presentation wasn't as nice as the average sushi place. The extra rice makes it hard for you to eat more (which is exactly their intention probably), and you're required to finish everything including the rice if you don't want to pay an extra fee. No sashimi is offered on the menu, so the rice is unavoidable. The hand rolls are also large but tasty.
Yuka’s sushi is very fresh, and their All-You-Can-Eat price is about $32 which is Manhattan reasonable. I do think the restaurant itself needs to be tweaked; the florescent lights should be removed and replaced with low, warming lighting lamps. I also recommend that the unlimited sushi menu be expanded in the appetizer section, but otherwise I really enjoyed the flavor. The East sushi roll was my personal favorite.
Great all you can eat sushi! Fish was super fresh and rice was on point. If you’re used to traditional sushi, you’ll feel there’s too much rice, but it’s their style. Great price and you can try a range of things, from gyozas, hand rolls, salmon, tuna, octopus, clams, shrimps and more. They also have a hot sake for 3,5$ that totally worth it! Definitely coming back soon
Very small place but the sushi is good. They nickel and dime you. So I'm changing my rating. And I go there often. But I will look for another restaurant that has all you can eat options.
I ordered sushi regular. But the waitress didn't double check if I want a tuna roll or California. I got tuna when I was craving for a California roll. Their sushi varies depending on the meat. The tuna was okay. The others were not as good. The rice was too soft and sticky to me, personally. And their sushi is definitely on the filling side-----You might be full after four or five pieces.... I would say "acceptable" for a quick sushi meal. But I would not go here for a good sushi treat.
It’s a low key spot to duck into and the pricing is fair, but the sushi was underwhelming and the atmosphere wasn’t very warm
I've been to this location 3 times in the last 6 months. The first being the best and the other two being mediocre. The lighting is terrible which means you're half squinting since it's so dark. The place is pretty bare bones nothing to make it stand out if you're eating in the back part of the restaurant. Sometimes service takes forever which would be understandable if they were busy but they rarely have more then 3 or 4 tables on peak days so instead it seems like negligence. Not a true all you can eat experience since special rolls cost more which really dulls the shine on the offer. They have you on a time limit and will really stretch it out by having long wait times so you're in a rush to eat. At certain points you're just eating rice since there's barely any fish. The food barely taste like anything anymore and with all of the rice the last bit of food feels painful. Highly doubtful I'll be coming back. I've had cheaper more filling experiences just getting plain sushi somewhere else and the wait staff doesn't stare you down like they do here sometimes.
The front of the restaurant, where the sushi bar is located, is bright but is a tad warm. The dining area at the back is cooler but is rather dimly lit. It’s hard to fully appreciate what you’re eating. Their all-you-can-eat sushi dinner seems to be popular. The pork katsu bento ($22.71, tax included) was decent, if not basic. The miso soup was served lukewarm.
We opted for all you can eat, and their special rolls were very good. My favorites were East and Rainbow roll. It was so so good. The rice is too sticky and too much, in my opinion. They charge for peices that are left and if you leave too much rice. They don't do all you can eat sashimi either. It fixes a quick itch for sushi. The service was quick and good. For the price, it isn't horrible. There's only a few appetizers that's available. The gyoza pork is my favorite.
First time trying an all you can eat Japanese Buffet. Not a true browse and pickup yourself buffet, but one where you jot down what you want from a pre-determined list and brought to your table. The main theme is sushi with rice and a whole lot of it. The hand rolls were filled with rice and barely any sushi. More like all you can eat rice which fills you up very fast. They don't have a Sashimi option.
The rice at this sushi spot is heavily infused with monosodium glutamate (MSG), which makes you feel sick or overly full before you can actually enjoy much of the meal. This makes the “all-you-can-eat” option feel completely unfeasible. If you’re sensitive to MSG, I’d recommend avoiding this place altogether.
Unfortunately this place has gone completely downhill from one of the best AYCE sushi in the city to barely serviceable. The rolls are poorly constructed and have far too much rice and way too little fish.
Came here for the first time today. Service is absolutely terrible. The place was empty and we still had to wait 40 mins for 3 rolls. We asked for eel sauce and the waitress made us wait a while for it. She was extremely rude. The actual sushi tasted fresh but bland. Nothing exiting in flavor. Totally not worth it.
Rolls were not good, fish was sliced super thin with a ton of rice. With tax and tip you’re paying minimum $40 for a few extremely subpar rolls. Avoid
Food is good for what it is, but the service recently has been AWFUL. Have been here a few times and recently service has done downhill - sat at a table with two friends and was served twice within 1:30, which is almost the limit for their all you can eat. To top it off, my order was wrong both times and I was charged for it.
We have been going here for 20+ years and recently we noticed the quality of the sushi is not what it used to be. The fish is not as fresh and just doesn't taste great. We won't be back until they make major changes to the food.
OK.. I've been coming here or ordering takeout since 2006. As of Aug 2021 I am dropping the 5 star rating to the current 2 star. I'm fed up with the shrinking portions while the prices have steadily gone up. Don't get me wrong I love this place and was rooting for them esp after covid-19. The fish portions were always fresh but the attached photo of the seafood salad side by side with a small rice is the straw that broke the camels back. For 13.95 it use to be salad container that is the size of 2 of the small rice containers put together. How can you honestly charge that price for a seafood salad that's smaller than the free salads you give away? 3 pc of broccoli, 2 slices of cucumber halved, some fish, a piece of octopus, and fake crabs. All for $13.95. I'm highly disgusted and disappointed.
So disappointing! Other than the attentive service, our AYCE sushi dinner was horrible. I hate to write this review around the pandemic, but I'm almost certain we were served raw menu items left over from a previous day. The sushi was sour and left a horrible aftertaste (thank god for wasabi). Ice cream was served towards the end of the meal, but was old and rock hard. Both my partner and I left with unruly, aching stomachs. I think it's safe to assume we just came on the wrong day, but won't be coming back. For the best AYCE sushi in the city, try Kikoo Sushi near Columbia!
Food was decent for all you can eat. We were 2 of 4 people in the restaurant and even so, the server proceeded to remind us that we HAD to finish all of our rice for all you can eat. I get it, but we just had a small amount left and the fact that the restaurant was empty, it seemed out of place to remind us of this. We won’t be back. Fish was bland. Portions of the sushi pieces were stingy. Restaurant was cold. Plus one of the employees was watching us to make sure we ate the rice.
Overall not great - The sushi rice was extra vinegary, the place smelled awful and the sushi pieces were small. I wouldn't recommend. Certainly not worth $40 for all you can eat.
Place changed management. Used to have great all you can with decent fish cut thickness portion for the price. It is now paper thin sushi with a ton of rice. Kept reminding us we had to finish the rice and withheld the next round of sushi until we finished the rice. We also order a la cart sashimi. Both orders of fish were ice cold with ice particles still in the fish and was a bit fishy.
Worst experience ever. Please don’t go here. You are going to throw your money. My friends and I ordered AYCE. Sushi rice was too much (I mean TOO much. Like three time then usual) but that’s okay maybe their style. I’m from Japan and I never had Sushi like this. That’s not problem. The problem was some rice was uncooked. So I explained why I couldn’t finish rice. After that the waitress told me “Tell the chef yourself. If you don’t finish your rice, you can’t order anymore.” I went the kitchen to tell it’s uncooked. The chef kept saying “it’s cooked” He kept fighting with me. So I gave up,went back the table and waitress come back my table and she didn’t say one word, take my plate and take our order paper. So we didn’t know what’s happening. I asked nicely “Hey can you please explain what’s happened here?” She didn’t explain anything and left. So this is what I had to deal with my lovely night. Don’t waste money and time! You can find any better sushi place.
Would not recommend to anyone. The sushi is covered in so much rice. The waitress wanted us to tip 20% when she got our order wrong. The lighting inside is horrible and it's cold inside. (We went 1 hour after they opened, it wasn't busy but still our order was wrong and the service was horrible!)
I would give this place 1 star. For these reasons. We went in looking for a quick place to eat. we found this place since it was close by and the time me and my group were craving for sushi. A few things went wrong while dining there. We noticed that the rice and sushi ratio was off and there was more rice than sushi, which for an all you can eat place it defeats the purpose. We also encounter issues with the menu. We noticed that the menu did not have a lot of options, therefore not a lot of choices. Many other sushi places have a pretty standard menu but it was not the case here. They wouldn’t at first give us individual spicy Mayo, which I never experienced before. They also did not give us the correct amount of items when we ordered the last time but left at that. Once the bill came, we noticed that an automatic tip was added to the bill, which I did not like. At first I thought it was a gratuity tip but when the waiter came back with the bill back after it was signed. We saw that the actual amount was a lot less and the tip was added and written by hand by the waiter without we agreeing to it. I don’t recommend this place personally. Maybe others would be okay with this and nothing I mentioned would be a deal breaker but for us personally it was not a good experience.
Really bad. The place is heated beyond comfort to get people to leave early. Fish had no taste (their tuna rolls and salmon rolls tasted almost exactly the same) and any flavor but drenched in teriyaki was nonexistent. The price sounds low until you see all the random extra shit they tag on at the end. I decided to give this place a shot as it's in my neighborhood but honestly, with Meijin Ramen two streets away? Pay the 10$ difference, get good food and stay away from this place. It's atrocious.
The food was terrible in overall quality; poor preparation, presentation, taste and ingredients. The place is also run down; flies and other bugs near the food preparation area.. two flies landed in my sushi and I was just over it atp....didn't even finish my food. Staff was friendly tho but I wouldn't recommend eating here. I did the AYCE sushi for $32....you get what you pay for ig 🤷🏾♀️
The waitress is annoying, keep telling me to order “less” sushi because she thinks we can’t finish it. Location is so dime light and doesn’t feel clean. The salmon is grey and room temperature, idk how it can be fresh and safe to consume. Don’t come here it’s not worth the convenience.
I normally don’t leave reviews but I advise you to take your money elsewhere. The hot sake was cold, service was far below average, and all the rolls had all rice (not even sushi rice) and pretty bad fish. I know to not expect anything crazy with an all you can eat place, but this was by far the worst I’ve ever had. At the end of my meal she forced the receipt back into my hand to leave a higher tip, I’m a server as well and didn’t really know how to react, it was the most attention she paid to us the whole meal. My friends and I were the only ones there and had cleaned up our mess, not sure what she wanted from all of us considering the (terrible) circumstances. So many better options, not sure how this place has any good reviews, I already feel sick:(
There are bad and good reviews about this place so me and my husband decided to give it a try. When we walked in, there were no single customers because it was 3pm ish. We sat down and placed our first order and waited. And this thing happened. The waitress spit out mucus in the back of restaurant where we couldn't see her but the sound... we were already disgusted before even trying sushi.. it's not once. SIX TIMES before, during, after our meal...there were only us so it was like she was right next to me..I understand sometimes you need to work while being sick. But you can went inside of bathroom(she might be in).. it was too loud and she was back to work quickly i was wondering if she washed her hands with soap. and she carried our sushi with her hands. We finished the first (and last) order and we could not order more. Sushi is whatever. It's just 30 bucks for AYCE. Cheapest deal in the city I guess. We did not like it because rice is too warm. Shari(sushi rice) is supposed to be at room temperature, but it was like it's just out of the rice machine and lack of rice vinegar.Rice portion was not that bad as Japanese perspective. Overall, Never, Ever going back. I paid tips for mucus. Hope she get well soon so no one need to hear that spiting mucus sound.
We dined inside and had the worst experience. All rolls , sushi and temaki consisted only rice and small very tiny pieces of fish. Taste is very strange. We ordered an all you can eat menu for 3 of us. They brought a first order and we left some rice and skin because they serve a lot of them. When we wanted to ordered the second order they said no because we left all that stuff.very rude and nasty attitude. I would never come back to that restaurant and don’t recommend it to anybody
Place used to be great. Ayce was decent quality. Now you pay for a ton of cold rice and very very small piece of fish for nigiri. Place is dirty. Whatever happened, it sucks and def won’t be going back.
LOYAL CUSTOMER - NEVER RETURNING For over two years, I’ve been a loyal patron of this once-beloved 5 star sushi spot, visiting at least monthly for its unbeatable AYCE combination of fast service, great prices, and amazing sushi. The food was always quick, fresh, and satisfying. I knew the chefs, who were friendly and skilled, and even though the waitstaff was consistently aloof and curt, the speed of service made up for it. Yuka was king. I raved about this place to friends, ranking it #2 on my Beli for all of New York City. But now, that gem has lost its shine. Disastrous Tuesday Visit: I came in on a Tuesday at 6 PM, aiming for a pre-movie dinner. We placed our first order at 6:10 PM, expecting the usual 10-15 minute turnaround. Instead, we waited nearly 40 minutes—and even then, only half of our order arrived. Another 40 minutes passed before we got the rest. I noticed immediately that one of the chefs was unfamiliar, and they had gone from two chefs to one. Still, 2.5 hours for two rounds of sushi? Unacceptable. The indifferent waitress ignored us for a full 25 minutes, in a tiny restaurant where that’s impossible to excuse. We ultimately had to cancel our movie plans. My patience was wearing thin, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt—new chef, post-day-off struggles—I told myself. The Final Straw on Friday: I returned, hopeful that things had improved. This time, they had two chefs, but neither was familiar. Optimism quickly gave way to frustration. We ordered at 7:05 PM and, again, the food trickled out painfully slow. The first part came in 20 minutes—reasonable enough—but it was incomplete. Another hour passed before we got a third of what was left. The scene was chaotic: diners glancing around in bewilderment, visibly frustrated. The waitress, who should have been on the floor, was instead behind the sushi bar, helping the incompetent chefs. At 1.5 hours in, she admitted to losing part of our order. When we asked where the rest of our order was, she yelled: “Everyone waits!” No. No one has ever waited here before. This place used to be somewhere people came in hungry and left full and happy—now, nearly every single person in the restaurant was complaining. How is that sustainable? What Happened to This Place? This used to be more than a restaurant—it was a dependable ritual. The old chefs were efficient and genuinely cared about their craft and their patrons. Now, the entire experience feels like a bad joke. The food is staggered and slow, and it feels like the restaurant is purposefully dragging out service to cut down on the amount of food patrons can eat. It’s cheap, disorganized, and entirely disappointing. Yes, the food is still good—it always has been—but what kind of all-you-can-eat place does business like this? If your sushi chefs can’t keep up with the style of business you’re running, you need to hire new chefs. Clearly, the restaurant is successful enough to afford chefs who have the skill set to make this happen. It’s embarrassing that they can’t. Adding insult to injury, the place reeked of cigarettes on my last visit. This once-iconic spot has become a shadow of itself, and it’s heartbreaking to witness its fall. I can no longer recommend it, nor will I return. To everyone I once told to come here: save your time and your money.
The food was very spoiled and old. We ate one piece and had to leave.
All you can eat option is a total scam. Menu is very plain, some options are not available, and you have to pay an additional money for some rolls. It takes forever to bring food, I guess they do that on purpose. Lastly, the waiters are so rude, horrible service. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
Absolutely terrible. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. This “all you can eat” sushi place is a complete joke and feels like a scam. Every roll looked exactly the same, same shape, same rice, same seaweed with only slight changes to the filling. There was no flavor. No creativity. No effort. It felt like they just rolled some rice and called it sushi. And shockingly, they didn’t even bother to use any sauce, not even the cheapest kind of soy or spicy mayo you’d find at the most basic sushi spots. Everything was unbelievably bland. There was absolutely nothing to balance or enhance the taste just dry rice and a sad, tasteless filling. To make things worse, the price was ridiculously high. For what? You’re paying premium prices for food that tastes like it was thrown together in five minutes with no care or skill whatsoever. Honestly, I could make sushi like this at home with zero experience and it would probably taste better. I’m not even exaggerating. You don’t need any training to replicate what they serve. It’s that bad. This isn’t sushi. It’s a plate of overpriced, flavorless rice rolls pretending to be sushi. Even grocery store sushi from Publix is fresher, better made, and far more enjoyable. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s a complete waste of money, time, and your taste buds. If you have any respect for food, go anywhere else.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Yuka Sushi in NYC was truly one of the worst I’ve ever had in the city. From the moment we sat down, the waitress was rude and passive-aggressive, constantly reminding us that we’d be charged for leftover rice – even though we had no intention of wasting any food. It felt more like a threat than a policy reminder. The sushi itself was completely inedible – stale, with a foul smell, and clearly not fresh. When we politely brought this up, we were brushed off and told it was “freshly prepared.” To make things worse, we found black substances inside the sushi, and when we asked about it, the waitress casually claimed it was “mushroom” from a previous dish. Seriously? To top off this awful experience, the ambience was musty and unpleasant, and when we paid our $102 bill in cash with $120, the server never returned with our change – just kept it without asking, as if a forced tip for horrible service was part of the deal. Avoid this place at all costs. There are hundreds of amazing sushi spots in NYC – Yuka is not one of them. Terrible service, horrible food, and an overall sketchy vibe.
The service was rude, and the food had a sour taste. The service was also very slow, and the environment was very quiet and empty. There was no music, no people, and the place was run down.
This used to be my favorite sushi place in the neighborhood, but apparently, the management and chefs changed and it went downhill. Don’t be fooled by pictures of luscious nigiri on here, because every sushi piece barely has any fish now and can barely keep itself together. No ginger refills like they used to do. Our servers however were really nice and always helpful. I will not come back until the management reconsiders these drastic changes and brings back the Yuka we all love and go to.
Used to love this place when I first found it in 2023 especially the AYCE. It started going down in quality every visit since. Yesterday was my 6th visit and it was a complete disappointment. Fish tasted weeks old and mushy. Even then, all the rolls were 70-80% mushy rice and very little fish. Every plate they gave us had dried up crumbs. Had to force our selves to finish and leave.
bah… the service was loong, the food it’s better not to talk about it, and the place was a bit creepy for my taste
What's said in other recent reviews it true— I'm sad to say that Yuka's no longer the restaurant it used to be. When I first came to Yuka, they served nigiri with big, thick slices of fish. Now, the fish is so small and thin that it can barely stay in one piece. The food no longer tastes fresh and the price has only increased. I've unfortunately eaten here for the last time.
Waitress won't let you leave the restaurant unless you tip a certain %, According to the waitress the management will dock their pay if you don't tip enough. Is that even legal? Used to be good, five star even. Now they have completely gone downhill and it's sad. Food is kind of meh. So disappointing. I used to come here not infrequently and now will not be returning. Many other options.
Ordered unagi don and salmon jalapeño roll for lunch. Ordered online, arrived at my pick up time, food was not ready. Waited another 10-15 min for my food. Restaurant was empty, mind you. Unagi don: tasted fine. Nothing special, honestly. But 6 pcs of unagi??? You’re joking. Yes I know it’s a lunch special and I shouldn’t expect gourmet, but surely you could do better than 6 thin slices of overcooked unagi. Salmon jalapeño roll: couldn’t taste the salmon or the jalapeño. Disappointing to say the least. Won’t be back. Reading the response and some of these other reviews, it seems to me that the owners would rather make excuses than do anything to improve. No wonder no one wants to eat here.
Ate here with group of 5 friends ayce menu I admit: D-I-S-A-P-P-O-I-N-T-M-E-N-T. Waiteress doesn’t let me breathe: sitting on my shoulders hoping I leave soon. Personal space pls. Ended up paying 40 per person. Low quality and cheap fish later gave me a stomachache. Sushi filled with much rice instead of fish/avocado/shrimp. Not even tasty. Very dark inside + not clean at all: received many violations/complaints before. KEY TAKEAWAY: STAY AWAY from this Asian cuisine!!
The food is unbelievably bad. Look at the sushi roll they served us. This end piece should’ve never made it on a plate. It looks like we picked it up and threw it around the room and then put it back on the plate but no, we didn’t even touch it. I know it sounds strange, but even though the fish was suspect, my rolls tasted like the avocado was overripe even rotten. I was just so disgusted. I left half the food on the plate and I was expecting the waitress to give me a problem wanting to charge because I didn’t eat it. She did not. She knows.
Service was very slow, it too forever to get any food and the quality of fish is not good. Even though it’s cheap AYCE sushi, you’re better off going elsewhere
I’ve been coming here for over 10 years, but after tonight, I’m genuinely praying for this place’s downfall. What used to be a solid sushi spot has turned into an absolute health hazard. I wish I were joking when I say I saw a rat. Not in the alley, not in the back — inside the restaurant. Suddenly it felt like Ratatouille was behind the sushi counter, minus the charm or culinary talent. I lost my appetite instantly and flagged the staff. They refunded me half the bill — as if that rodent only ruined half the meal. It should’ve been the entire thing. I didn’t come for a side of vermin with my sashimi. This place is now filthy, careless, and downright miserable to step into. If you value your health or sanity, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. Ratatouille Would Be Offended.
All sushi pieces were falling apart and look nothing like normal quality sushi. We ordered a normal order, not all you can eat, still came out with uneven rice and awful quality, which tells me it has nothing to do with all you can eat or not. Service was rushed for dinner and not very friendly. Flavor was okay, nothing to write home about. I asked the waitress if this is normal quality here, she said yes, maybe the rice is just not sticky enough because they didn't add enough vinegar. The waitress said she'd speak to the chef about it, and then never came back. Decor is mediocre and many rules about how you must finish everything or there is an upcharge. Worst sushi experience ever overall. I am surprised to read all the good reviews, perhaps lunch service is different, I sincerely hope so.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, the service was slow for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The place was dimly lit and cold. As for the food, the sushi was not fresh. For the rolls, the rice was definitely more than the sashimi. I ordered a scallop nigiri, the scallops had an icy taste and basically flavorless. I thought even grocery store sushi might be better than what they’re serving here!
I have been here for many time but today's visit was very disappointing. The rice was old. And a waitress was avoiding accepting new orders for AYCE. (You check on paper and give.) And food was often 2/3 of what we ordered. (Did not bring all order. They edited for themselves.) They took time to bring food after order and they do not take new orders. And only one waitress was eating her food facing her back to customer and after she was taking time and finished her meal , she came back and our time was up. I did not eat AYCE. If they do not want customer to eat AYCE, they should not have that option.
The experience of this upper east side classic has considerably dropped since I began going to enjoy the food, the service, and the atmosphere in 1993. It's important to note that in my recent visit October 2025, I ate the all-you-can-eat special that this restaurant has been known for for over 20+ years. In MY experience the quality of the fish AND the ratio between fish and rice was way off. The thickness of the fish (for our orders) was paper thin. The establishment has had new owners/managers since the late 90s. Obviously things change. I did NOT get any food poisoning from the meal. The 1-star is in complete reference to the AYCE experience of the food. The service was stand-off-ish, and the atmosphere really felt tired. I miss the old Yuka.
They lost our food ticket and didn't say anything, so we were just sitting here like idiots for an hour :) said we couldn't put another one in because they were still waiting for our first ticket to come out, didn't ask if we wanted drinks, didn't offer the miso soup that we were ~apparently~ entitled to and had to read through the several papers on the table to notice. It took one of our friends leaving for the server to double-check if we were waiting on things. An HOUR later. The moment we told them that we got our second order before our first order, we IMMEDIATELY got the rest of our food (AFTER re-ordering it) and you can tell the chefs, like, frantically put it together in two seconds. One of the rolls wasn't even fully closed... The food like, tastes good, or whatever... When we got it. By the time we got our sushi, though, some of us weren't even hungry because we ate the ~two~ pieces of chicken they dropped... They didn't explain that it was going to be two ~pieces~ rather than two ~orders~ despite the 6 people that were sitting at our table. No free drinks, no free dessert, not even an explanation, LET ALONE an apology. Genuinely if they just like explained that there were issues with service or that like a mistake was made, it literally would've been fine, but we were ignored for over an hour as EVERY table around us got their food within 15 minutes. When I put my card down, tip was included when there's no indication on the front of the store (including tip without a warning is illegal), so I asked our server to take the included tip off. She pushed back and told me that that's just what they do for tables and I explained that that's illegal. She forced a smile and did it, and when I left no tip, she was like "I took the tip off" and I went "yeah, that's why I asked you to. We waited an HOUR for our food." She tried to explain that it was busy, as if we weren't surrounded by tables that came in after us and then got our food and were nearly out the door before us. On our way out, she sneered at the rest of my group and gave them a dirty look. Never in my life have I EVER not tipped on a tab, but our experience was so one-in-a-million that I just had to break that streak... Don't go here if you have literally any plans the same day, because they might waste your time and, trust me, it really won't be worth it 💖💖
THE WAITRESS WAS SPITTING UP 6 TIMES RIGHT NEXT TO OUR TABLE!!! EWWWWWWW. !! DON’T COME HERE !! The waitress was spitting up 6 times right next to our table while we were eating. It was gross. We stopped eating All You Can Eat and left the restaurant. Bad experience. Never comeback. (We visited at 3pm on Wednesday.)
