I really loved their housemade focaccia. Basic, simple, but also flavorful. For the salad, we ordered Cavolfiore. The taste itself was good, but I personally felt it's a bit heavy for salad. If I go next time, I would choose Cavolo e gamberi, the salad with prawns. For the main, I really wanted to try both the Cacio e pepe and Lasagne. Unfortunately (only for me😂), my husband changed his mind and ordered risotto, which was recommended by our server. My husband said he liked the taste, but I personally didn't like it that much. (Saffron) I think it's just the matter of the preference. As for the lasagne, it was delicious as expected (a bit salty for me, though). It paired well with the glass of wine I ordered (nebbiolo). I know nothing about wines, but I liked it. Although I liked the food, I couldn't finish all of them because all food was very very rich. Would be great if they have lighter and refreshing things on menu. Tiramisu and coffee were a bit disappointing, though. For me, the taste of orange oil in the tiramisu was too strong. And the coffee tasted like burnt. We enjoy espresso at home, so maybe our expectation is too high. Overall I liked the food, so I might try next time if I have another chance in future. ※For lunch on weekdays, it seemed tables were not full, but we made a reservation to avoid any risk. According to the Open table website, there could be cancellation fee, so be aware of that.
This was such a cool, unique experience. Dario was awesome and the food was amazing! We did their Friday night 5 course special and it was definitely worth it. Highly recommend for special occasions!!
We have been here four times and the pastas just get better. We’ve tried most of the menu and every pasta is delicious. My all time favorite is definitely the lasagna! Dario (the owner) said it was his grandma’s recipe. It is the best lasagna I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
Excellent service and food. Everyone in this restaurant is accommodating and extremely friendly to kids. I recommend pizzas and gnocchi on Sundays. Monday pasta is also recommended. They have great deserts as well.
Elite food, great service, homemade gnocchi do I need to say more? They used great quality ingredients. Went for my 31st Bday and fell in love. Can’t wait to come back!!! One of the best meals in the PNW period. The house made smoke panchetta in my dish was amazing. My wife’s braised beef short ribs in her gnocchi melted in our mouths. It is a must eat restaurant.
Visiting the area needed a light dinner with wine and found this fantastic place. They were able to seat me. All the staff and servers were attentive and informative. Prices are extremely reasonable. Had house rose, a fantastic chilled red cabbage goat cheese soup, house salad and wonderful bread with olive oil. I think they rotate the menus seasonally. Wish I had the chance to come a second time. A+++
Definitely a must experience! Everything at this spot is amazing. This was definitely the highlight of my willamette valley trip. From the moment you walk in to the second we left we were in heaven. The food is fresh and the highest quality. My wife had the gnocchi and it was out of this word amazing, the softest pillows of perfection, I cannot help but think this is executed perfectly. I had the pizza which was very good, with a crispy crust and fresh toppings. This is not Neapolitan but it is not trying to be and that’s okay. The owner hand delivered everything to every table and was making sure his creations were perfect and you can tell he has a passion for what he does, it shows through in everything. Dessert was Devine. Service was outstanding. We left with huge smiles on our face. If you are even thinking about going here please do yourself a favor and do it. This is not a stuffy pretentious restaurant you cannot afford, although the food is at or above that quality.
I don’t even know where to begin! We went in for the 5 course Valentine’s Day meal and it was incredible!!!! The entire staff was so kind and warm! The ambience was beautiful and welcoming! Now let me get to the food portion… HOLY COW BEST ITALIAN FOOD IVE EVER HAD! I can’t wait to go again and hopefully take one of the cooking classes they do!
I don't have the words to correctly depict my experience here. It was exactly that - an experience. The space is welcoming and open, as are the staff. We attended a winery diner on Friday night. It was absolutely incredible! The owner and head chef, Dario, crafted a 5 course meal with wine pairings presented from Compris. Every dish was expertly and deliciously paired with a wine, producing new and rich flavors not experienced in either the food or wine alone. From fresh tomatoes to a roasted asparagus souffle, and marinated peaches to a 20-hour sous vide pork roast, every dish was incredible! Truly a delight. I have never in my life had a more amazing meal or dining experience. I encourage you to treat yourself to Rosmarino, you won't be disappointed!
Always delicious, flavorful, and fresh-made. We’ve been here multiple times for regular meals, as well as their 5-course prefix meals with wine parinings (highly recommended). Everything I have had here has been fantastic, and the owner is the certainly star of the show, enthusiastically guiding you through your dinner and wine-pairings. Despite everything going on, he always makes a point of stopping by your table and asking how you are doing, even with a full restaurant, adding even more of that personal touch to the experience. He also makes a point of highlighting his staff as well, since each of them play an important part in the mean and overall dining experience. Even with all of that, the food is always front and center, and I always leave with a happy stomach.
We did a special occasion splurge for a Friday night, local wine, multicourse meal. It was worth the drive. The owner/chef welcomed everyone, and the week's featured local winemaker was there as well. Both the chef and the winemaker introduced each course as it was being brought out by their small army of servers. When we're at a restaurant that is fancier than normal for us, my wife's theory is to "trust the chef" when we find an ingredient or two that we generallly avoid. This theory was put to the test multiple times on our visit, and, I'm happy to say that our trust was well earned. Some of the specific ingredients were chosen to highlight characteristics of the wine. It was splendid. Both the chef and the winemaker came around to each table, giving everyone the chance to talk with them. A very special night.
Wonderful!! The owner and staff are the best. The food DELICIOUS!!!! If you 💘 Italian food, I highly recommend it. Had a 5 course dinner, there are no words to describe how delicious it was. Everything is beautiful and so fantastic. I just loved it all. The dessert OMG!!!!!
My husband and I were able to score last minute reservations to their Saturday Italian Wine and 5 Course Dinner. We’ve eaten here many times and the food/service have always been outstanding. The 5 Course Dinner was on a different level! Our minds were blown not only by the food but by the service. It was an immersive dinner experience through northern Italy. Dario and Sheena were amazing hosts and their staff were equally as welcoming. We will 100% be reserving more of these!!
I liked this restaurant very much. Such a joy to have had the pleasure of eating there. I had a wonderful Bolognese and my girlfriend had the lasagna. We had a very nice time. The staff was very inviting had a great couple glasses of Chianti and the desserts were over the top. Had a wonderful tiramisu and my girlfriend had pistachio gelato we couldn't have been more pleased. I Highly recommend people going there with their family or friends for special occasions or just for a nice Friday night out. Sad part is you have to make reservations ahead of time or at least we did and it took 2 months to be able to get in the restaurant and not on their patio.
The 5 course dinner and wine pairing was nothing short of a magical dining experience. I'm not sure I've ever eaten so slow, I just wanted the flavor to last forever! The food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was fun and energetic. Very much enjoyed hearing the chef explain the dish preparation, the region of Italy the dish originated from, and the wine pairings. Quite possibly my favorite dining experience ever.
Make sure to call and get a reservation. Friendly staff. The bread sample with the restaurant's oil and vinegar has a great flavor and is not harsh. Having gluten-free options for my wife was great. Sky was very helpful with the menu.
What a lovely experience. We were greeted immediately and welcomed. Seated promptly for our reservation. Maddy was our server and was so friendly, kind, and fun. Our cocktails were excellent and timely. And then the food. Just incredible. We got the Crema di Pesto Genovese, the Alla Romana, and the Cacio & Pepe al Tartufo. The pasta was outstanding. And the flavor of each dish, unique in its own. The standout for me was the truffle in the Cacio & Pepe. Then we ended with a lovely Port dinner wine and the Affogato, Chocolate Hazelnut Ganache cake, and Tiramisu. All were delicious. Multiple people from the kitchen and staff approached us throughout the evening, asking how everything was. Overall, an incredible experience. Will absolutely recommend and will be back soon!! Thanks for making my niece's 21st birthday a memorable one.
What a wonderful experience! The space was set up as a giant communal table type seating, just on Fridays and Saturdays. It is not communal or community-style food. It's a five course meal with wine pairing. It was beyond exceptional! It was an experience. A tour from North to South of Italy with an amazing pairing of wine. Use of high quality ingredients, with days of prep work. I highly recommend you try this place. The owner and his wife are so incredibly friendly, funny and welcoming! It feels like you are family during this dinner. The owner/chef come by with each or every other course to see how everything is. They want you happy and having an experience!
We did the wine makers dinner and I have to say this is probably the most 5 star experience Oregon has to offer. The food was very good and well paired with the wine. But the real surprise was the immersive experience and the lovely staff. I was dazzled by the charming owner/ chef and his wife. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a special night out.
Fantastic food and wine. We did the Italian dinner on Saturday at 530. We were in the back room and it did get pretty hot back there since there is no ac. So just know that if you are going on a hot day. Other than that it was an amazing experience. The chilled melon soup was my favorite. The braised short rib was cooked perfectly. We got 2nds on the Duck Ragu!!! All the wines paired very nicely with each entree. Dario the chef introduced each course and was quite the entertainer explaining the dish and the wine. We will definitely be back when we are in Newberg.
Mouthwatering delicious food. Just right portions. Great service. They cared about everything. They even adjusted and fixed our table from rocking back n forth. 10 out of 10 highly recommend 👌 👏 They are masters at what they do. Will definitely be going back 😀 worth making a reservation and every penny spent.
Wow...just...wow! This was an absolutely amazing dining experience. I made a reservation ahead of time for the five-course dinner and I highly recommend making one if you don’t want to risk missing out on a table. As soon as you enter, you just know it’s going to be a great meal. I was greeted with a warm welcome and seated at a lovely, super clean table that was dressed with fresh linens and spotless glassware and flatware. The dining room is tastefully appointed and has a warm feel to it and there is a large wine selection for special pairings with meals. One thing that really stood out was the chef’s/owner’s presence in the front of the house. He comes to your table with each course and explains each dish, the ingredients, how it’s made and a little about his Italian heritage. He shares his passion and love for food with you and I swear it makes the food even more magical. You can taste it in every single bite. I had a smile on my face throughout dinner. Pure bliss. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the team working in the back of the house expedited sheer culinary excellence. This place makes dinner really special. I highly recommend making a special trip here to experience it for yourself.
This may be the best and most authentic Italian dining experience I've had outside of Italy. The service was fantastic! The chef chatted and joked with us. The food and wine were superb! I can hardly wait to go back.
Above average Italian food with very friendly service and a great selection of wine by the glass. We were expecting slightly more polish given the recent lists and awards this has appeared on, but we had a nice time. Prices are fair for the quality and atmosphere. Stick to the classics here… wasn’t impressed with the specials or the salads. The 3 wines we had were great. Lasagna was a hit.
I mean WOW! Epic level of flavor and care. You MUST try this charming slice of Italian heaven! From the pizza to the salads to the enchanting gnocchi...ENJOY!
Our friends have been raving about this place, and my husband and I have lived a few blocks away for over a year and finally decided to go with them for one of their Saturday lunches. New favorite place! Already planning our next visits, including our anniversary next year. We LOVE pasta, and this is the best Italian food we have ever had. I had the Pasta all'Alpina and my husband had the Pappardelle al Cinghiale. I am not normally one to seek out a dish with mushrooms, but the Alpina was amazing and I even loved the mushrooms! My husband isn't normally a very adventurous eater, but he absolutely loved the wild boar with pasta. I tried a bite, and it was amazing. We had a few drinks, the espresso martini was to die for. About the atmosphere: Knowing they offer a $125/person 5 course wine pairing dinner, I thought we would have to dress up and it would be stuffy. It was absolutely not. People were in nice clothes, people were in tshirts and shorts. Everyone was comfortable, and even the owner came out to say hi and greet each table in a pac man tshirt at the lunch. He was so nice! Maybe its different for the 5 course dinner, but we loved the feel of the place. It felt like everyone was welcome, and the focus was the amazing food. We are going to one of the 5 course dinners in a couple months, so I will update this when that happens. Looking forward to it! UPDATE: The wine pairing dinner was absolutely amazing. The owner/chef is delightful, and all the staff are amazing. His wife poured the wine and was hilarious and gracious. We did the Italian dinner on a Saturday, and were lucky enough to have the people who provided the wine there, talking about how it was grown/made. It was so fun. So worth the money. Everything was delicious. There was a dish I was unsure of, because I don't normally like lamb, but even I enjoyed this one! And, my hubby found a wine he actually likes! I am beyond thrilled.
This Italian eatery was hands down the best I’ve had. I’ve not been to Italy but this place will transport you. If your lucky , Dario the chef will make an appearance at your table and make you feel so welcomed as he genuinely asks how you’ve enjoyed your meal. The basil pesto was so fresh and herbal, you could feel the care that goes into making this restaurant run like smoothly (and deliciously). Lastly, you’ll want to make a reservation! We got lucky that there was a last minute cancellation for lunch, but in most cases , they recommend bookings months in advance!
5 course meal with Italian wine paring. Thought I was back in Italy for a second. Every course was amazing, loved all of the wine pairings as well. Excellent service, Dario and crew are fabulous. Favorite dish was the ravioli.
Flawless Mother’s Day patio dinner- super fresh and just delicious. Our server was great and we were delighted to have been greeted by the owner, too. We’ll definitely return🖤 Oh- I have had a long standing disgust for gnocchi, but not this gnocchi! This was fabulous!
Amazing Italian food in Newberg. I love a small menu and not having to choose from an overwhelming selection and this hit the spot. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, truffle ravioli and the veal and they were all delicious. For dessert, the tiramisu was heavenly! The price point was right. We’ll be back for another date night.
I have never been to Italy but this is the best Italian food I have ever had! We did the 5 course Saturday set menu dinner with the Chef explaining everything as we ate. Menu changes all of the time for the Saturday hosted dinner. Great wine, amazing food and the Balsamic vinegar that they import from Italy is the best, bought a bottle. They also use a bacon made from the jowl and aged for 4 years called Guanciale, amazing. We were a group of 6 and two of them are very picky eaters and they ate everything! I can't recommend this enough.
NEXT LEVEL! Just forget your alternative dinner plans---if you want Italian, THIS is the place! Rosmarino Osteria Italiana – A Transcendent Experience First Visit – Classic Italian Mastery. Forget your backup plans and make a reservation a few days agead of time—if Italian cuisine calls, Rosmarino Osteria Italiana is the answer. Having eaten my way through Boston’s North End countless times, I can say with conviction: I would happily dine here every day if I lived nearby. On our first visit, we experienced the depth of Chef-Owner Dario Pisoni’s artistry through a special risotto—creamy, perfectly balanced, and executed with quiet precision. The cinghiale (wild boar), slow-braised and tender, spoke of rustic Italian heritage elevated to fine dining. Service was warm yet seamless, and Dario’s intuitive wine pairings left no note unresolved. It was, simply put, transcendent. --- Second Visit – Oregon Winemaker’s Dinner. ($165/pp) Our return for the Oregon Winemaker’s Dinner Series was nothing short of a revelation. This five-course pairing menu, spotlighting Willamette Valley’s finest wines, revealed the restaurant’s brilliance in a new dimension. Chef Dario’s culinary imagination and genial, exuberant personality dazzled once again. Along with Sheena and their gracious staff, he doesn’t just serve food—he creates memories, welcoming every guest as family. The Blueberry Gorgonzola Gnocchi was tender, pillowy, and brilliantly balanced, while the multi-hour braised short rib over silken polenta was sheer poetry: decadent, soulful, unforgettable. With every pairing, Dario’s knowledge and wit shined, turning dinner into a performance. --- Verdict. Rosmarino Osteria Italiana doesn’t merely serve meals—it stages memories. Each visit has been a masterclass in cuisine, hospitality, and the joy of food and wine in harmony. On any scale, it deserves not just five stars, but ten. To miss it would be to deny yourself one of Oregon’s—and Italy’s—most transcendent tables. Saluté
Just spent an amazing hour having the absolute best traditional Italian food I have eaten since leaving the East coast and having family meals...or those that I have cooked myself. Chef Dario has his restaurant Rosmarino Osteria Italiana firing on all cyclinders. The food, by far, exceeded expectations. In English, my wife had the mushroom rissotto while I ordered the special, short rib raviloi, AND the lasagna. The lasagna is made with chef Dario's nona's bolognese. I want to say more about the food quality and its traditional qualities but frankly, no words will suffice. If you think you enjoy Italian and want to try REAL traditional Italian, make a reservation for Monday or Thursday night. If, like me, you enjoy a top shelf Chianti, try their house private label. Grown, made and bottled in Italy for the chef, it is magnificificant. My wife also had the beet salad. This consisted of cubed beets on a bed of truffle cream and topped with crumbled pistacios and micro greens. I am not a beet guy but this was the best I have ever had. Take my word when I say...top shelf. Happy birthday sweetheart. I hope you enjoyed it.
Hubby and I came for our anniversary lunch and it was absolutely delightful! The menu changes slightly by the day and almost entirely by the month. Service was excellent - we were never left waiting - our dishes were served with great timing. Today was gnocchi for the main course and, oh my, does that gnocchi melt in your mouth! The flavors are delicious. The focaccia with the house branded olive oil and balsamic vinegar from Italy are to die for. All their pastas and sauces are made in house. I also really loved how the menu clearly indicated ingredients for those with dietary restrictions. Even better, housemade gluten free gnocchi was also available! Highly highly recommend this restaurant for a nice meal out!
Well today it's lunch, last time was dinner two years ago with my Mom for our birthdays. Server Brandon was awesome! Made thie experience unique. Well, back today with my mom in spirit as she couldn't make the trip. But, I'm back today for lunch.
Out of all of the restaurants I've tried in my decades of existence, it would be hard to single out any restaurant whose food was better than this. The pasta is truly handmade and fresh (not just claims made on a menu). Even the espresso martini was memorable. I had the Alla zozzona, and I wish I could describe how delicious it was. Our only complaint? Our party of two couples were traveling and celebrating anniversaries, and shared this when we made reservations, and when we arrived. But we were seated in the very back of a converted (think plywood hotbox) area behind the restaurant on a 95 degree day. If the food had even been a little bit more disappointing, we would have gotten up and walked out.
Incredible dinner in Oregon wine country.... This is a must try if you're anywhere near here. Our server Brandon was great and the entire staff was friendly/welcoming. Our meal started out withe the prosciutto and burrata salad which was so fresh. The table bread was also fantastic. The main course was vecchia modena gnocchi which was smoked guanciale with butter and cream to go along the a diavola pizza which was exceptional as well. The pizza crust was so light and a little chewy in a good way. Perfectly spicy. Dessert was the raspberry sorbet and the blueberry cheesecake which were both great ways to end the meal
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars, I would! We were in Newberg visiting our kids (who are students at GFU). I’ve wanted to visit this Italian restaurant for several years now. Finally was able to make it happen on my birthday. The presentation was excellent, the food mouthwatering, ambience perfect, and customer service some of the best I’ve ever seen. But our favorite part was being greeted by Dario and given a personalized wine suggestion. It was like dinner and a show. The stories he told, the explanations around the wine itself, absolutely amazing. We will definitely be returning on our next visit. Thank you to the entire Rosmarino staff for making my birthday one of the best ever!
I was in town for the weekend and was thrilled I finally got to dine at Rosmarino. Dinner was fully booked, but I made sure to get in for lunch/brunch the next day—and I'm so glad I did! The food was out of this world, and the service was even better. Our server, Maddy, was exceptional—so knowledgeable about the menu and incredibly attentive to all our needs. A truly perfect experience!
All I can say is WOW! What an experience! And that is what you get with chef Dario. He is full of charisma and passion for good food and wine. We let him choose our wine and made food suggestions for perfect pairing. Everything from service to food was excellent. No wonder it is difficult to get a reservation. We are looking forward to one of the wine pairing dinners.
Rosmarino was a magical experience . The food was beyond incredible but what really made it remarkable was the owner, Dario, coming around and chatting with each and every table. He spent at least 5 minutes at our table where we learned what part of Italy he was from, reminisced about our time there and how it influenced our meal experience. I had the short rib gnocchi with truffle - heavenly!! After our wonderful meal, Dario hugged us both goodbye like we were family. This was a place that makes you want to move here!!
Love this place! We did the 5 course meal and wine pairings. Check their website to understand the days/hours and types of meals available. If you haven't been, then you are missing out. They use "00" flour for many items which is quite likely safe for gluten-free patrons. They are happy to accommodate the GF diner. Obviously you know your own body, but there were no issues for me.
The best Italian food around!! My husband and I eloped with just a small group of immediate family at a nearby Newberg winery, and we chose Rosmarino as the location of our wedding dinner after the ceremony. We had been a few times before and knew that choosing Rosmarino was a no brainer. The food is unparalleled (in my opinion, the only Italian restaurant I've been to in the States that is on par with what you get in Italy), the service is always fantastic, and the ambiance was exactly what we wanted for our wedding night. Our officiant has Celiac and said Rosmarino's gluten free pasta is the best she has ever had. They were also so kind to get us sparkling cider that's not normally on their menu for a toast because my husband and I don't drink champagne. The whole experience was above and beyond.
We did the Italian wine pairing dinner and it was fantastic! Super friendly service, the talks about the pairing were great. The food delicious! Housemade pasta was amazing. All well worth the price!
Maddie was a fantastic server!! Not sure what Kim is going on about in her 2 star review, we were shocked at the low pricing and fantastic quality of food, awesome atmosphere, and great service. We drove an hour to come here and will hesitate to be back soon!!
My husband and celebrated our wedding anniversary here; what a wonderful experience! Chef Dario is so energetic, fun, and passionate about the history and personal stories of the dishes he presents to you. From the regions where the wines are produced, to the stories of his family in Italy and the influences on his dishes, it's such a fun amazing experience. My husband and I have been talking about our 5 course wine pairing dinner all day today! We can't wait to go back.
Good authentic pasta but a little overpriced. Cacio e Pepe with truffle disappointed as it was just a little powder or oil of truffle rather than some nice shaves of truffle I expected. Parpadelle with Wild Boar sauce was on point, but the meat didn't have a strong flavor. Maybe I expected too much as we are not in Tuscany after all. Salad with porchetta was the best dish we had. Very good service.
Delicious! The owner is very friendly and came to check on everyone regularly. I called to make a reservation and had no trouble. The burrata appetizer was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend starting with it. We also LOVED the tiramisu and lemon berry mascarpone. The pizza was delicious and had some of the best homemade dough I’ve ever tasted. The only thing we weren’t wild about was the daily special gnocchi. It was good, but maybe just not our cup of tea. We came on a Sunday (pizza & gnocchi day), so we will hopefully come back another time to try some different dishes.
A popular restaurant, but rather expensive. Easy to drop $25-50+ per person for lunch. If the place is busy, as it usually is, do NOT expect to carry on casual conversation due to the bad acoustics and guests having to speak loudly to be heard. The atmosphere can be quite frenetic, which isn't conducive to a relaxing meal. Staff is generally friendly. Food is well prepared and decent portions.
The owner’s response to the less than stellar reviews are quite defensive! They have a very “sorry not sorry” attitude and It seems they’re not good at accepting criticism. With that being said, my dining experience details as follows: We came in for lunch and unfortunately left a bit disappointed. We were walk-in guests. The reception felt unwelcoming, as though we had done something wrong by not realizing reservations were suggested online—though there was plenty of space once we were seated. The wait staff, however, was wonderful and attentive. The food itself did not meet expectations. Bread was not complimentary, arrived cold, and was overly salty. The beet “salad” was essentially diced beets on a bed of whipped garlic and herbed burrata, which was very rich and overpowering rather than refreshing. There was no salad. See pic. Across all our dishes, the protein portions were surprisingly minimal, and the sauces leaned heavily salty. Even the Parmesan, offered upon request, was the powdered variety rather than fresh grated which felt disappointing. That said, the many positive reviews suggest dinner may be a better experience than lunch.
