Bar and Board

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Huge thank you to Chef Joe Rego for making my wife's birthday celebration so special. Joe personally served a thoughtfully prepared 5 course meal for my wife and I and the food was amazing. The servers were kind and thoughtful as well. I would highly recommend taking the time to stop by Bar and Board Bistro to any and everyone. Thanks again for a great evening!!!

Great spot for a big or small group. Made a reservation with a group just shy of 20 people. They planned to set us up on the patio, which is amazing, but it rained about an hour before our time, and they set us up inside without us having to ask. Great food and drinks, this place is HUGE overall. Like 3 floors and then some. Come for the craft cocktails and stay for the food. Must go if you are in the area.

Amazing!!! The wife and I were in town for a quick weekend get-way and decided to have dinner here. Parking is a bit tricky but we.ended parking in a pay lot about 10 minutes away. Once we arrived, we gave them our names and were lead upstairs to the dining area. I was pleased to see that all the tables were moved away from each other in order to maintain the 6 foot distance. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and helped us decide on what to eat. The food came out quickly and was downright delicious. When in the area, this place is a must.

Underrated restaurant. Everything we tried was delicious. Service was excellent. Oysters were fresh. Scallop was perfectly cooked. Halibut was delicious, well balanced. Lobster Mac and cheese was very yummy.

First night out after quarantine and the service was top notch. We felt very safe and comfortable during our meal which was great. Highly recommend the clam chowder which have whole little necks in the soup. The shrimp and grits were also incredibly filling and delicious.

Food amazing. Service spectacular. Atmosphere superb. Wine list fabulous. Entree options plentiful . We were joined by 13 others for a large dinner in Newport on a cold winter evening. The restaurant was full but flowing with adjustments from staff to accommodate. Plates were well represented. Highly recommended for small or large parties.

I love this place! Great food, and build-your-own cheese board option. We also come here for tacos trivia on Tuesday nights and it’s always a good time. I’m satisfied with the variety of vegetarian options here. The drinks are a little on the pricey side, but the cocktails are creative and very tasty. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Another Newport gem! They were very accommodating with our dog Cookie with outdoor seating. The food was great and the drinks were delicious! Our waitress Chloe was very attentive and cheerful 😊.

Yummy, delicious date night. Brussel sprout appetizer was amazing! Jose was a great server. The food was out quick too!

Best waiter ever. Great drinks. Oh the food …. Lets See lobster ravioli delicious. The burger: filling and ravenous. And the scallops, simply Devine.

Absolutely delicious!! I should have taken the photo before I started eating but I couldn’t wait!!! Crispy chicken with cannellini beans over fettuccine! To die for. Service was fantastic. Sat in the outside covered area. The sun was in my eyes and without asking the manager lowered the blinds. The staff was very attentive and the restaurant is immaculate. 6 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My wife and I tried Bar and Board on a Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves! The location is newly renovated. An open concept design with clean appointments that is set against the character of it's past life as a bank. The vault door serves as the backdrop for the downstairs bar. Nice cocktail ($14/ea) and wine list ($10-$13/glass). The appetizers were a good portion and varied from oysters, duck drumetts, scallops, and shrimp dishes. While we didn't try any main courses, they were varied and looked good from what we saw being served. The staff was friendly and informative. We will be going back for dinner...they accept reservations. :) Definitely worth a try.

Came here for our 10 year anniversary. Great views and an amazing sunset with amazing, friendly service. And the food is delish too. Definitely order the avocado shrimp stack and the mussels. I haven’t had mussels THIS good in years! Perfectly cooked, flavored and just so so good. Great ambiance and be sure to have a hibiscus margarIta. Just delish!

Amazing food! Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts and the orange blossom cocktail.

Poached Shrimp & Advocado w/sticky rice, wasabi & soy to start - followed by Angolotti ravioli w/goat cheese & lemon, finished with a chocolate martini. Great place. Their cheese boards are phenomenal which I still must mention even though we didn’t have one tonight.

We’ve had the pleasure of dining at Bar and Board every summer for the last 4-5 years. Each time we’ve had great meals with servers who may be there for their first year. All of them have been great at their jobs and fun to get to know during our meals. Donna the manger has become a friend and has taken care of us every time. This year Carson, our server, was outgoing, funny and took care of all of our needs. What a great kid. There’s so many places to eat in Newport but Bar and Board is a definite every time. PS - great cocktails!!

I can’t believe I have lived in Newport for so long and have not come here. Service was top notch, professional. Atmosphere good vibe. Food excellent. Will definitely be bringing friends here

We stopped in for a drink because we didn't think we'd ever get a table for 4 but they were able to accommodate. While we waited, we enjoyed such a treat at the bar. Angel the bartender made mixing these beautiful drinks eith such care look effortless! So delicious. He looked like he was having a great time too! We hit our table in the bar area and it turned out he had our table too. That guy ran the bar and still gave us great service, suggested items for our board and kept up with all our needs. Food was amazing. We will be back again for sure. Was good enough to make some locals brave the crowds of the season. Great place!

Angus was the best bartender. And manager Andrew was amazing. Will come again soon!

I love this place, the new chef is the best. Angel their bartender is amazing. They took care of my party 6 very well and everyone enjoyed the food. Will be eating here more often!!

Safe to say, this place absolutely blew us away! As our waiter, Angel was attentive and knew what we needed before we even had to ask. The chef, Andrew, came out of the kitchen to talk to us and gave us great suggestions. The smash burger was easily the best burger I’ve ever had in Rhode Island. Jonah suggested drinks to us that were both creative and delicious, making our experience complete. Five stars, but wish I could give ten!

Went for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon. The breeze from the windows was lovely. We both had the burger and it was delicious. Our server was very pleasant and we were in & out pretty quickly, but were not rushed at all. The atmosphere was relaxing. Definitely enjoyed our time here.

Bar and Board is a gem in Newport! The service was outstanding, and our waitress was so friendly and attentive to every detail. The build-your-own charcuterie boards were creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented—such a fun twist. The cocktail menu was inventive and every drink we tried was innovative and refreshing. Even the Diet Coke tasted better here. We enjoyed a leisurely late lunch and soaked in the very cool vibe and welcoming atmosphere that made the whole experience memorable. Can’t wait to return!

The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! Connor made some great suggestions for us since it was our first time! Would go back again for sure!

Today I was working in the area and stopped by Bar & Board to grab a quick bite. My staff and I ordered burgers, and one of us had the fish and chips—everything was excellent. Great food quality, great atmosphere, and friendly service. We’ll definitely be coming back soon. Thanks again for an excellent meal.

Highly recommend! As visitors, we wanted a place for dinner that was in the heart of downtown but didn't feel touristy. The lasagna bianca was absolutely delicious as was the salmon! Even though we were full, we had to try the bread pudding -- we savored every moist, rich, satisfying bite. (The portion was so generous that we took some home for later!) I am a foodie at heart and was so glad we ate here, sitting in the tasteful bar area overlooking cobblestone streets with docks across the street.

What a gem! We came here a few years ago and had a wonderful meal. Came back this week for drinks and dessert last night and it’s even better. The chocolate pistachio cake is life changing, and the cocktails were on point. Great service, great food and drink!

Stopped in here twice the week of 9/14/25 stumbled into the bar Sunday evening because we heard the live Jazz from the street. Had excellent cocktails at the bar while enjoying the music. Spoke with chef, Andrew and he talked us into visiting later in the week on Taco Tuesday, which we did. We loved the Birria Tacos and Salmon entree. I also want to give a shoutout to our server Connor, he was excellent as well. The whole vibe of this restaurant is classy and fun. While the food and drinks are just as enjoyable! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Newport.

Cannot say more positive things about this place. The food is to die for, the atmosphere is like no other. Angus AKA fancy pants, Angel, and everyone involved provides such great service and really bring the vibes. Andrew has something exceptional going here. Cannot wait to see what’s next for b and b! 🐆 🍸

Meatball Trio and colossal shrimp were excellent. Sea bass special was good once salted - very bland upon delivery, and the lobster role was inconsistent throughout - some bites were tender and buttery and others dry, chewy and lacking flavor. The smash burger (not pictured) was just ok. We received our food before drinks, had empty water glasses most of the time, and our server forgot two or three time each: silverware (we ended up taking from the server station), water, salt, and a to go box. Good location and spot for people watching through the windows.

Went to bar and board last month for my birthday with a few friends and sister. We sat upstairs at the bar and had some really great drinks. Our cheese board was nice (and tasty), but the wings were not good at all. I also didn’t realize we had to pay for the added items outside of the cheese and meats (when we were offered them I thought it was just part of the board and said sure). I think next time we would just stick to drinks. Overall, i would go back for the vibes, views, drinks and service.

Beautiful place. Amazing service. You can build your own board and this is such a different experience. We started with a “Ceviche”, a little spicy but delicious and we made our Board with “Jasper Hill Alpha Tollman, Wagyu Bresaola and House made fig salami”.

The restaurant has separate parts to it, i was in the entry way and it’s very nice in there when the weather is nice. It seems as though they allow dogs inside on the patio portion but maybe it was all service dogs. I’m not sure. The waitstaff was great and super helpful but the dish I got had an amazing flavor to it but a weird texture? Very sandy and grainy? I’m not sure if it was supposed to be like that or if I got a mistake. I couldn’t finish it even though it tasted great. The texture was like eating cauliflower covered in beach sand. I was feeling shy this day and didn’t ask though or mention it to the wait staff so it’s kind of my own fault if I didn’t like it. It could have been a mistake.

Visited this new restaurant on what was their “soft opening”. Was seated in the their outdoor area. The space has two floors and everything seemed to be newly furnished giving it a nice ambience. I would consider the food modern Italian with a twist. Ordered the salad with arugula, prosciutto, and buffalo mozzarella. It was seasoned well and was the perfect amount for me to share with my girlfriend. I order the crispy chicken with pasta and white beans for my entree and she ordered the ricotta gnocchi with tomato sauce. The food took approximately 45 minutes to get to us, but the waitress apologized and offered an extra glass of wine and even dessert. My entree was delicious, however it came with tomato sauce while the menu only explained that the pasta would be tossed with butter. The gnocchi were excellent but maybe just a tad bit salty. Overall we enjoyed our experience at this new restaurant and wouldn’t think twice about coming back.

A lot of different food options… come prepared to make it your own

it’s beautiful inside! We sat on the second floor and had live jazz played for us up there. Very warm environment. The food was good. I definitely recommend the charcuterie board! The entree portions were really large.

Very cool place , very atmosphere is awesome , multiple floors . Nice bar . Ordered fried Feta and calamari . Feta was good but heavy, calamari wasn't the greatest , lacked in the flavor department. Entrees were really good, the pasta Salumi was good , and the pork chop special was delicious, but for the the cost, your getting European portions . Overall food display and taste was good , but portion sizes call for some improvement.

Day trip in Newport RI included getting dinner at this bar/bistro. Located on a busy section of Newport; parking is not easy especially on the weekends. I think this place used to be a bank; it has a bank vault. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant. The atmosphere is for happy hour with friends or coworkers after work. The food was ok ; bar good not great restaurant food. I would give this place 3 stars for the bar & 2 stars for the food for a total of 2.5 stars.
