Chokhi Dhani London

Visited on Saturday, 22nd November evening with wife. I had called an hour before to reserve seats but we found a few tables vacant. Service was excellent. Even though the place was crowded and buzzing, we got served and attended promptly. Now for the food. We both ordered Maharaja thali which is meat based. I was assured meats are all halal. We could have gone for one veg and one meat thali but the veg thali had tandoori paneer and paneer kadhai instead of Laal Maas and chicken tikka which we did not find appealing . Also, the main dishes on the thali (such as Laal Maas, chicken and daal baati) if ordered beyond first serving would cost extra. So we went for both meat. Daal, chawal and roti were unlimited. It was my first time experiencing Laal Maas, Daal Baati Churma and Sangri. In addition there was Gatte Ki Sabzi, Kadhi Pakoda, pickle, chutney and Gulab Jamun. Also usual accompaniments like papad, salad etc. I must say all the dishes were delicious. I have never had these Rajasthani dishes before so I do not have a reference point but for what it was, we enjoyed them all. Each dish had a unique flavour and quite distinct from run of the mill 'tandoori' variety.

Sorry for the late review but I really had to write it. As soon as we stepped in the restaurant we were greeted with a smile and the restaurant looked fabulous. The food was amazing. We had maharaja thali and the quantity was so much we were really full. Laal maas and kadhi were the star of the platter, I have never had this super authentic kadhi before in London ever. The food was super delicious and out of the world. Our servers were super sweet and they really did a very good job. We came for our anniversary and they made our day really special. I loved everything about the restaurant and would 11/10 will recommend to every single person I meet. A huge shout out to Ugendar our server and Pranavi for making our day.

It was a wonderful experience! The food was really good — a must-try is the Dal Baati Churma, absolutely delicious. The service was very good, and the staff were always happy with smiling faces. Overall, a great place with a warm atmosphere. Will definitely come back! 😄✨

Wonderful Indian restaurant with lots of character. Very quiet on a weekday evening for dinner. Recommend the vegetable samosa to start. Dhal makani and Murg Makahn are highly recommended. All pair well with naan and roti. Also try their lassi drink. Price was reasonable and service attentive. Will come back again.

Travelled nearly an hour across London to get to this restaurant. Booked as a surprise for a special friend of mine by her daughter who had been before. I have to say I was very impressed! The staff are welcoming and efficient. Seated quickly. We were so busy catching up that they did have to wait to take our order's, but the staff were very patient with us. Everything ordered came out and was truly delicious, from starters to mains (we didn't have dessert). The thali was ordered by my friend and I sampled some of it and everything was delicious. We ordered two main dishes, two rice and one nan between two adults and a child and it was just the right amount for a lunch (I hate wasting food!). The exterior and interior are well decorated, with lots of Rajasthani statues and painted walls, lovely wooden staircase, just beautiful. Would definitely go back to Chokhi Dhani as the food was just so delicious, not overly hot, but beautifully balanced! Unfortunately I didn't get to take pictures of the food, as we started before I thought to take any. 100% worth the hour tube ride.

It was an amazing experience, especially as a Rajasthani! I truly felt connected to the rich culture and folk art that reminded me of home. The Maharani Thali was exceptional, simply beyond words. A huge shoutout to the staff, and especially the manager, for their warm hospitality. The environment was very clean, welcoming, and friendly. I absolutely loved everything about this place. Thank you, Chokhi Dhani, for an outstanding experience. The food was spot on. Beautiful and simple dishes done to an excellent standard. From starters to mains and desserts, everything was beautifully prepared. We didn't have a booking and we were celebrating one of our mates graduation ceremony so we tried our luck. Alistair at the reception picked up the call and he was kind enough to accommodate our big group at such short notice. He's a legend. There were seven of us in total, and everyone left happy, satisfied, and genuinely impressed with their meals. The drinks were just as impressive. But the best part of the evening was the service, honestly, some of the best I've ever experienced. A special thanks to Mr. Mehfooz, who was looking after us. He went above and beyond and checked with us regularly and made sure we were properly looked after. That level of exceptional service continued throughout the entire meal. Great team, brilliant staff. Seeing you all in action was like watching a poetry in motion. Thank you again for such a memorable experience. Chokhi Dhani truly did not disappoint. We will be back for sure.

I visited today and it’s hands down one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food was bursting with authentic flavours — every dish tasted freshly made with real care and quality ingredients. The chicken was creamy and perfectly spiced, the naan soft and fluffy, and the biryani was banged The service was just as impressive. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, with the perfect balance of traditional touches and modern comfort.

Tried the Rajasthani Thali at Choki Dhani — absolutely loved it! The Dal Bati Churma was yummm, and the curries and sides were full of authentic flavour.

Chokhi Dhani offers an outstanding fine dining experience with delicious food, excellent service, and a polite staff. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. Beautiful ambience and decoration of the place. Dishes were amazing in flavours, though slightly larger portions would enhance the experience. Overall, it is a fantastic place for a satisfying meal.

Immersed in Rajasthani magic: Cuisine, culture, and an evening to remember at Chokhi Dhani. They serve authentic Rajasthani food. The Maharaja Thali was yummy and each of the delectable dishes were made with utmost care and perfection. Whether it is the Kadhi Pakodi, Gatte ki Sabji, Dal Bati Churma, Jodhpuri Murgh, Laal Maas, Gulab Jamun, Kebabs, Amritsari Macchi, Missi Roti, or the Salads, we loved them all. Would definitely come back again.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Chokhi Dhani! The standout dish for us was the Prawn Kempu Bezule – absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The ambiance was amazing, creating the perfect setting for a special evening. A special shoutout to Akhil for his excellent service; he was attentive and friendly. We also appreciated the efforts of the rest of the team, including a lady and a gentleman (wearing spect), whose names we unfortunately didn’t catch. Their hospitality added to our memorable experience. Highly recommended for a delightful dining experience!

The food and atmosphere was amazing. The most thing was they gave sweet complimentary cake for birthday celebration which was unexpected. the staffs Ugendra and Monica were very helpful and kind.

Visited Chokhi Dhani with my partner to celebrate his birthday and the food was absolutely first class and the service was so incredibly friendly. We had such a lovely time chatting to the staff and getting fantastic recommendations from them - they even sent out a little birthday treat which really made all the difference on top of an already amazing night! The food, the cocktails, the decor, the options - we will definitely be back again👌🏼

Great food , great ambiance and courteous staff . It was a birthday dinner for us and drove atleast an hour to be here. We loved the decor , very aesthetic. And we loved the food as well . We ordered Maharaja Thali , Kids thali and Nihari . My little one’s comment was , if I could give rating would have given 10/10 . Also loved the videos on their website about parking . I followed the instructions in the video and parking was so easy . So overall would definitely recommend.

My last night dinner at Chokhi Dhani was just a wonderful experience. The downside of dining frequently at great restaurants is that one becomes a bit too critical and judges each restaurant with too many parameters. But with all my parameters, I couldn't judge and give any negative parameters to Chokhi Dhani London. They were perfect. Let's start with the ambience. It's beautiful. Serene, very Indian and not overwhelming. The entire decor is understated but beautiful and definitely not on your face Indian. Entire staff was extremely courteous, well trained and polite. Not to forget very observant. We never even had to call out for them once. They were always there whenever we needed them without hovering over. Last but not the least, the food. In my so many years in London and so many Indian restaurants, this one place I found who has not compromised on the taste and retained the authenticity. They do have the popular Indian dishes on their menu under a-la-carte to cater to the non Indian crowd. But they have the thhali section which is authentic Rajasthani cuisine. It was a refreshing experience to dine in an Indian restaurant without "Balti", "Pathia" or "Korai" served on the menu. By the way, those are not part of any Indian cuisine and can be termed as British Indian cuisine like Indian Chinese. We ordered the maharaja thhali for each. It is sumptuous. No wonder I couldn't finish it fully and it was the first time in my life that I was so full but regretted every morsel left behind in the plate. I honestly prayed for a bigger appetite looking at the thhali. My favourites in the thhali were the dal bati churma, ker sangri, kadi, the laal maas and the pickles. I was so full to order a dessert. But my husband ordered malpua and rabdi and it was great too. I tasted a spoonful from his plate. I could go on and on about the food. But it is something to experience. So highly recommended. I am definitely coming back. P.S. - They have a selection of beautiful merchandise at a very reasonable price. We purchased a beautiful minakari ashtray.

A great Indian restaurant for fine dining. The food is authentic Indian. Great place to eat if you are sick of eating anglicized Indian food. The ambience is soothing and the staff are very courteous. Specially the manager, Mr. Jha is a great person and host. They have a huge collection of drinks and good cocktails as well. The only drawback I found was that they cannot customize the food according to your taste. But it's totally understandable. Overall a great restaurant to visit with family and friends. Though it's a bit expensive but totally worth the price. Highly recommended.

Great place to for Rajasthani food. Nice location. Beautiful interiors with regional handicrafts. Warmly greeted and seated. Efficient service. Food was excellent and well liked by everyone. My kids ordered kids thali and devoured the paneer makhani. Staff and management had a special treat for our anniversary. Thank you so much 🙏🏻

Before our visit to Rajasthan, we went to Chokhi Dhani to taste Rajasthani food. We were not disappointed at all! As we walked in, I felt that we were already in Rajasthan! The interior decorations of the building was fantastic! Staff was really welcoming too. We tried thali to taste different dishes. Rajasthani dishes and some ingredients are quite different from the Indian food we taste. My non alcohol drink with pineapple and citrus fruits was very good too! They sell different ornaments made in Rajasthan. There is a catalogue on each table with the prices and the photos of the items on sale. Quite helpful.

The taste of the food was absolutely delightful, and the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, which added to the overall pleasant experience. The atmosphere for dining was truly wonderful, and it reminded me of the feeling of enjoying a meal in India. The ambiance was just perfect! Dine in for the dinner couple of days back. The entrance and the ambiance is very elegant. The interior is also stunning. Ordered the maharani thali and additional moong daal pakora, subz murgh and naan. The thali menu was good but few items were not up to the mark like the Bati was not much appealing and the paneer tikka served in the thali was dry and hard. Naan was really nice and the subz murgh was good. The staff is really very nice, well behaved and cooperative. 5 star for staff and service. Still good place for enjoying thali and other menu.

I’ve been to this place twice . Both times had rajasthani thali which is quite wholesome and filling. It has a good variety of curries with paneer tikka as a starter , dal batti and churma . I really liked the taste of almost everything except gatte ki sabji which wasn’t the authentic taste. But I’ll definitely recommend someone who loves Rajasthani food or even Indian food to come and try this place as soon as so far I’ve only found this one good restaurant in London that serves dal batti. Not to forget , the daal tastes heavenly . The ambience is great and the staff is quite welcoming as well

We visited Chokha Dhani London and had the Maharaja Thali. The variety and portion sizes were just fine with option to top up the daal , roti & rice. I think there should have been 2 baati for me to call it a generous feast. The quality of the food was top-notch. I particularly enjoyed the different curries and the freshness of the breads. The restaurant's ambiance is also a major plus, creating a very pleasant dining atmosphere with detailing to antiques around. My one and only quibble was with the daal bati, which, while edible, didn't quite live up to my expectations. It's a key part of Rajasthani cuisine, and I was hoping for something more exceptional. Still, the thali as a whole was a great experience.

Food is very delicious but portions are small, they don’t let you share the thaali so was bit disappointing but Devore and taste of food is amazing so will highly recommend . service is good too

Stunning restaurant in the heart of Battersea. Gorgeous architecture design on the outside. We went a while ago for an anniversary dinner. Whilst food was good and presented beautifully, we were bitterly disappointed when staff refused to allow us to take our leftovers with us when we left. Clearly food waste is not an issue for them even though as customers we paid a high price. The reason why it was surprising was because we have been to more higher end, Michelin star restaurants that have allowed us to take food back with us. Willing to give it another shot in the future but not any time soon.

I came here recently for dinner. We didn't order much but will surely be back to try more The kachori for starters was delicious,so was the sultani paneer. I generally don't like sweet ingredients in my savoury food so was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't super sweet We tried the vegetarian Thai which was nice as I could try various dishes. I found the salad and some of the curries spicy but I know Rajasthani food is generally spicy. The kadhi was delicious I liked the Dahl for the Dal bati churna. Will be back to try some of the dishes I didn't get a chance to try

We recently visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and the ambience truly made the experience memorable. We began with Chicken Malai Tikka accompanied by a selection of cocktails and mocktails. While the tikka was decent—I've had better—the drinks were exceptional, refreshing, and well-prepared. Next, we tried the Dal Kachori, which was absolutely delightful and, in my opinion, the standout dish on the menu. For the main course, we opted for the Maharaja Thali (non-vegetarian). The thali included an array of dishes: the Dal Baati Churma was excellent, and the Bajra and Missi Roti were hearty and satisfying. The Gatte Ki Sabji and Kadhi were decent, while the Papad, Salad, Chutney, Rice, and Pickle complemented the meal well. The non-vegetarian offerings in the thali included Lal Maas, Jungli Chicken, and Seekh Kebab—all of which were flavorful and well-cooked. For dessert, the Gulab Jamun was a perfect sweet ending to the meal. Overall, it was a good dining experience with enjoyable food and a great atmosphere.

Popped in on a week day. It was around 6pm, very quiet and very few customers. Everything looked very clean and well presented. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Food was nice, we had the thali, my only complaint is the bread things that came with it didn't taste or feel fresh and were a bit hard and dry. I got a peshwari naan to go with it and it is the best naan I have ever had. I think it is a little overpriced but I guess that comes down to location. Overall a nice experience. Toilets were nice enough and clean although not sure how the women will get on with two cubicles on busy nights??

Well, being Indian, our hopes were high knowing the kind of food we get in Chokhi Dhani India. The food was kind of disappointing. We ordered the Veg Maharani thali and most of the dishes were not up to the mark as we expected. It may be because they have converted it according to the British palate. I would still prefer to continue with the roots and help people to understand your culture and customs instead of changing them for the business. The ambience was quite good, and we liked the way they decorated the whole place. It felt really like a home. Staff was good and responded well to our complaint about the dishes.

Tried their corn kebab, biryani and vegetarian thali along with dal baati. The ambiance was vibrant and culturally rich, reflecting traditional Rajasthani aesthetics, which made for a visually pleasing experience. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. Great for someone looking to explore Indian décor and hospitality, but if you’re going purely for an authentic taste of Rajasthan, it might leave you wanting more.

Chokhi Dhani is advertised as Fine Dining restaurant. On entering the restaurant, the Front desk didn't ask to take my coat, although I noticed there were a few already on the coat rack. I ordered Mint tea and it was pleasing to see it come in a tea pot with fresh mint leaves. On having a cup of it, I saw there was some sand in the bottom of the cup (image provided) so clearly they hadn't bothered to wash the leaves before putting them in the teapot. This was very off putting, to say the least. It was surprising to see Kadhi Pakora on the menu as I don't believe I have seen it in any other Indian restaurant in London so I ordered that with Pillau rice without any hesitation. It was right consistency and flavour and bit more warmer than just luke warm. The pakodas were a bit hard in the middle as the kadhi has not absorbed into it. The most annoying experience was waiting for the table to be cleared after completing the meal. I eventually had to call the waitress over to do the necessary. I then had to ask for the Dessert menu. There was one item on there which I hadn't seen previously on the menu elsewhere but resisted the temptation and went for the trusted Gulab Jamuns. It arrived some 10-15 minutes later which is a long time as they are prepared in advance. When the waiter placed them on the table, he warned I should be careful as it was "hot". This was surprising as they are usually served at room temperature or very SLIGHTLY warm but never HOT. Sure enough when I went to cut a piece, even the spoon got hot with the temperature of the syrup. I had to leave them alone for at least 10 minutes to cool down before attempting to eat them. The dessert was hotter than Kadhi Pakoda! Serving food at the correct temperature is vital for it to be enjoyed fully. Some basic errors negates this as fine dining experience.

Booked this restaurant for Mother’s Day with my wife and kids as I had heard good things about it, I was skeptical as I find posher Asian restaurants are mostly overpriced unfortunately I was proved right. The service was actually decent as was the environment so no complaints there. My issue was with the food though, the dishes were not that tasty as I had expected, some of it didn’t taste fresh and the portions were very small for the price, I don’t mind paying if the food is worth it but here unfortunately I don’t feel it is. It was a decent experience but don’t think I will return. Parking is a nightmare here so probably best catching public transport otherwise be prepared to walk. On the plus side the restaurant is very nice inside with traditional decor.

My experience at Chokhi Dhani had positives and negatives. Positives being the food and ambience. However, I feel there is a huge room for improvement - where atmosphere is concerned. It seems like customer experience isn’t of importance in a fine- dining place like this. It is very restricted to having food with no experience attached to it. Having visited India and knowing about Chokhi Dhani, I had high hopes. It comes down to small things too - like ensuring your customers have a truly great experience rather than just promoting Thalis. I feel the atmosphere could really be worked on. It could just start with some better music and initiatives/events on weekends… after all, every customer knows if it were just about food, it could also be ordered in. With a place like Chokhi Dhani, one also goes for the whole experience - which is definitely about good and authentic food, but not just about food! :)

Had dinner here and the food was pretty decent—flavours were enjoyable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, I was quite disappointed with the takeaway experience. I ordered dal baati to go and didn’t check the quantity before leaving the restaurant. For £20, the portion size was disproportionately small and left me really disappointed. Definitely not value for money on that front.

I recently visited Chokhi Dhani London, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows — some aspects were enjoyable, but several were disappointing enough to temper the overall experience. Starting with the food, about half of the dishes were genuinely good, with the sev tanatar standing out as crisp, flavorful, and well-executed. The chicken, unfortunately, was merely decent — not the best I’ve had in London, and certainly not up to the authentic Rajasthani flavors I expected. Coming from Rajasthan, it felt surprisingly underwhelming compared to other restaurants in the city that have captured the region’s signature taste far better. Service was another mixed bag, but unfortunately leaned more toward the negative. Staff were not particularly welcoming; a simple smile would have helped, yet basic attentiveness — like ensuring water and plates were brought on time — was inconsistent. On top of that, the team felt pushy about ordering extra dishes rather than providing a genuinely customer-friendly experience from the start. I haven’t encountered this anywhere else, let alone at a Rajasthani restaurant, which should ideally set the gold standard for hospitality. The thali policy was another major frustration. At £40, the thali is non-refillable, very large (over 1,000 calories), and simply too much for one person to finish comfortably. Sharing is not allowed — a detail nowhere mentioned on the online menu — which feels misleading and inconvenient. To make matters worse, staff actively encouraged us to order additional dishes even though we had already ordered a thali plus three extra dishes for five people. The insistence on “one thali per person” struck me as unnecessarily rigid, especially when the portion is fixed and the risk of food waste is high. Overall, the visit was a very mixed experience: a few standout dishes like the sev tanatar, some average ones like the chicken, and service that felt inconsistent, impersonal, and at times pushy. Combined with rigid policies and a lack of transparency, it made the experience more frustrating than enjoyable. With better hospitality, clearer communication, and a more flexible approach, Chokhi Dhani London has the potential to offer a truly memorable Rajasthani dining experience — something the cuisine and culture richly deserve.

We visited Chauki Dhani on the 07th Feb for dinner. The overall experience was very mixed and I will try and break it down Service - the staff were super nice and very attentive. Full 5 stars ⭐️to them Atmosphere- great music was not loud and ambience really represented Rajasthan again full 5 stars ⭐️. Food - The food was the primary reason for our visit, and unfortunately it turned out to be the biggest disappointment. Having travelled extensively across Rajasthan, I have a clear understanding of what authentic Rajasthani cuisine should taste like. Both of us chose the non-vegetarian Rajasthani Maharani Thali, expecting it to showcase a broad range of traditional flavours. Unfortunately, we could not have been more wrong. Listed below are the dishes that were included in the thali: Lal Mans, Chicken and Gatte Ki Sabzi - All three dishes were overly sour and unfortunately unpleasant to eat. The dominant flavours were sourness and butter, possibly due to an imbalance in the use of tomato purée or vinegar. Overall, the quality of the dishes fell well below expectations. I rarely leave non-vegetarian dishes unfinished, but on this occasion the lamb and chicken were disappointing enough that I was unable to finish them. Dal - panch dal mix was wonderful and the only redeeming item in a massive thali costing £40. Batti - The batti it seemed had been dipped in Ghee for hours and hours before it was served to us. Ghee was the item we could state in it. Whereas in Rajasthan they ask you if you want ghee or not. Made me sick. Very poor. Kadhi - again the curry was super sour and the pakode needed a hammer to be broken. They were that hard. Kebab - rubbery and lacked any flavours and I fail to understand the presence of a middle eastern dish in a Rajasthani thali. If you are serving it at least cook it properly. Churma - The churma was particularly disappointing. It appeared to be a powdered mixture with sugar, rather than being prepared in the traditional way by crumbling baatis, as is done in Rajasthan. Missi roti - is supposed to be crumbly and the one they served was super soft Bajra rotla - undercooked is the only term that comes to mind. Sangri ki subzi - average along with the daal a saving grace. They missed out on the garlic chutney as we did not get any and the salad was okay. People will no doubt continue to visit this place. That said, it would be hard to call the food Anglicised Rajasthani — it did not resemble Rajasthani cuisine in any recognisable form. Overall, this experience did not reflect or respect the flavours of authentic Rajasthani cuisine.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Chokhi Dhani. I had previously gone there on New Year’s Eve and the food was absolutely delicious, which is why I decided to return. Unfortunately, this time the experience was completely different and very upsetting. We ordered two thalis, and the food had zero taste. It smelled off and did not seem fresh at all. The quality was shockingly poor compared to my previous visit. To make matters worse, we are now suffering from food poisoning after eating there. This is unacceptable, especially for a place that markets itself as an authentic and premium dining experience. Food safety and freshness should be the absolute minimum standard. I sincerely hope the management takes this seriously and improves their food quality and hygiene, because this experience has completely ruined my impression of Chokhi Dhani.
