Cafe Bravo

We've been dining with them for 10+ years because the food is top-notch along with the service. The food is fresh with a very nice variety. In all these years, we've never had bad service even during Covid. Stop in & enjoy yourself!

A group of 4 of us went to dinner last night at Cafe Bravo, and I just need to write the food was excellent. My husband and I have gone there many times and I order the 12oz Rib-eye with Chimichurri sauce and it is always tender and delicious. I don't know where they get their beef but, it has to be "Prime". My husband orders the Oysters in a shell and can't rave enough about those too. Our waitress was excellent very good service. This restaurant has become our favorite in Oakdale.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in a 100 mile radius. If you know what to order - you're meal will be life changing. No....I'm not exaggerating! My picks- start with a Cadillac margarita with everything, munch on crispy chips and salsa while you wait for your crab stuffed mushrooms. If you still have room, order the bacon wrapped top sirloin. Thank me later!

Food is great. We keep going back. Not cheap Mexican food but reasonably priced for what you get.

Chipotle shrimp enchiladas were amazing. Excellent service, Great drinks, affordable prices. Everyone ordered different plates and everyone was highly impressed. Not in this area often but have a new reason to be.

Wow what a great time here! The food was amazing, the margaritas were incredible (and they come in so many flavors), and everyone there was super nice. I would highly recommend this spot for a drink at the bar or a full dinner at one of their many tables! My friend and I were just passing through as tourists but felt so welcomed into this restaurant

We held a surprise Retirement party for 30 in the side room on a Saturday night. From renting the room, to implementing the surprise, everything was PERFECT!!!! I cannot express what a great experience this was! The service was AMAZING (we had an Open Bar and Taco Bar) and Cody, Abby, and the Owner were extremely professional and service oriented. All the guests raved about the food and we were always being checked in on to see if we needed anything. So glad we stayed local and had this party at Bravo's. Best venue and restaurant in Oakdale!

We are from Modesto and had never eaten here before. It was priced like a fancy sit down restaurant but the food was well worth the price. We all tried each others plates and everything was amazing. The carne asada, chicken and shrimp were all cooked perfectly. We are leaving with very happy, full tummy's! We'll be back!

Y'all may think that my opinion is biased which I agree with you 100% I've been a satisfied customer since when Bravo opened in 2000. I will not say that anyone is not truthful with their negative review because I was not there with them & it doesn't matter to me. I've been blessed with never... YES... Never, having had a bad plate nor server. The restaurant has seen many difficult economic times & survived those times which IMO proves their mettle in all around quality. :)

Okay, we were driving by Oakdale, and see a 4.6 star joint with over 400 reviews. It must be legit. We had to stop by. Initially we weren't too excited that it was Latin food, not because we don't like it but after a long drive none of us were in the mood for taking risks. Other than the guac not being absolutely fresh (still fresh though), the food turned out to be awesome, given the location and price point. The fish taco with battered cod was perhaps one of the best I've had. It almost came out like a Mexican salad with plenty of onions, lettuce on a bed of rice. But lifted with tortillas, it was again fascinating. The steak was juicy but you shouldn't expect steakhouse steak here. And the pasta was also solid for the kids. Also, the gentleman who served us was super friendly. We initally felt like we were being stood up but once he found us, everything was wonderful. Oakdale is a city/town you drive by a lot on your way to Yosemite. And when doing so, I highly recommend stopping by at Cafe Bravo. You'd be pleasantly surprised at the caliber of Latin comfort food they serve.

Again I had the greatest de ja vu moment after almost a decade since my last visit to Cafe bravo. I always faithfully order the Steak Fajita Burrito which was to my surprise no longer on the menu. I asked the waitress and she kindly said they could still make it for me. It was a magical experience when It arrived at my table. It was better than I remembered and made me emotional. Me and my Ex-wife (RIP) used to eat here regularly. Their homemade chips and salsa always sets the mood. Love this place, please put it back on the menu. I live in Oakdale again, I will be back.

Overall my first experience at Cafe Bravo was good. More of an experience than I expected. But as far as service I felt neglected. It took a really long time for someone to check on me if all was good or if I needed something. And even then it was bleak. I apologize I didn't take photo of the food I ordered. Next time... I will visit again, hopefully better service.

I decided to go and found they had a nice ribeye steak on their menu and decided on that. It was definitely the right choice!! It was cooked to perfection, it was tender, it was quality and it had all the flavor that a grade A ribeye should have!! They seasoned it to perfection and even had me check the cut before indulging in it. The staff was so kind and attentive. The restaurant is nice and quiet and the place had a beautiful deco of ambiance. If you're ever in Oakdale or want to to try a unique and savory menu with a great spin on some amazing dishes, do not pass on this place, it is definitely worth a try. The have amazing soups too! And if you're ever in the mood for a juicy and flavorful, herb filled ribeye definitely check this place out!

Fun and lively place. It was pretty loud in the bar area while I dined in the adjoining dining room. The menu was filled with many creatively designed dishes which for me was the reason to eat here. I loved it!

We came past Cafe Bravo after a weekend of hiking and ordered two burritos to go. The burritos were gigantic (you could easily eat one for two people) and very flavorful — no skimping on any of the red/green sauces, and the guacamole was packed with flavor. The order came quickly and the staff were very polite. We found the price on the higher side for a to-go order (came to nearly $50 with one drink and two burritos), so we'd probably see Cafe Bravo as more of a sit down place. Also, the burritos are covered with sauce and not wrapped, so it's hard to eat them in the car! 🙂 Overall a great stop and a satisfying experience.

The milensea is very good and the chipotle sauce is nice too. The rice is very good although I’ve never had green Mexican rice lol. My man ordered fajitas to go it was $30 but a lot of food 😬

This is my go to place for lunch in Oakdale . Good food and service is great

Girlfriend and I like to try different places, this one was pretty good, no breakfast/brunch even tho Café in the name. Drinks were decent, food was pretty good, I got the Chimichurri steak, she had the chicken milenesa. Steak was cooked to the right temp med rare, but tasted like fuel sadly, the chimchurri was great. The sides were also really good. My lady also had the oysters which she said she loved. The service was outstanding, quick, attentive, and friendly. I would definitely return, hope the next time steak doesn’t taste like fuel tho.

Food was good. I paid with credit card and gave a $5 tip written on receipt and signed .. I checked my credit card charge and server added and extra $3.00. Be aware!!!

It's a loud place. I don't know if it has to do with the construction of the building or some other element but it is horrendously loud all the time. It's the kind of loud you would expect at a night club, but there wasn't any music playing (at least that I could hear). Despite that, service was good. I didn't really care for my food but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or maybe I was just upset because my ears were bleeding. Overall, Cafe Bravo might be fine for take out, but I wouldn't recommend otherwise.

Food is good but honestly WAY OVER priced. I paid $26 for a pasta .. thats almost $30 ! For a pesto pasta! No way ill be goin back to get ripped off again.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at this restaurant. We went to this restaurant after we were celebrating a graduation and I wasn’t very hungry so I ordered a soup and I had let the server know ahead of time that I had an onion and garlic sensitivity and cannot eat them. When the soup arrived it had onions in it, and I could not eat it so I requested a bowl of the other soup ….as the server stated there was no onions in that soup. It was only broth. Meanwhile, everyone else at the table (we had seven total) had their food delivered, and they had already finished eating, and my soup had not arrived. We asked a few times and she insured us it was on the way. At this point, I asked to cancel the soup because everybody was done eating and I didn’t want to eat alone and I really wasn’t sure that it was going to come without any onions in it as it is a Mexican restaurant. The server would not let me cancel the second soup, and in fact, insisted that I pay for both soups, even though I ate neither one. Not to make a scene I did pay for both soups and as I was walking out the door, she ran to give me a bag with my second soup and it as I was leaving. To my surprise when I got home the soup really was only broth so I’m not sure why it took over an hour to prepare and everyone else finished. We also ordered the oysters in the half shell as an appetizer and they were the worst fishy awful oysters I’ve ever had and we did not eat those and we let the server know this was an issue as well, we paid for them, even though we did not eat them, and we never got an apology for the soup or a terrible oysters. We just left. I only like to write more positive reviews but occasionally we do have a quite disappointing experience. I do not recommend this restaurant

Very dissatisfied with the food! I ordered the fish tacos and asked if they would be crispy and was told yes, they were soggy. The pineapple salsa was not so fresh and the food was completely under seasoned. If you are going to charge upscale prices then you better be putting out upscale food! Refried beans had no flavor.
