Amazing! I believe it's a bit costly but it makes sense once you've had food from there. Family run, my family has been their customers since they opened.

What's not to say about Jalisco carnitas. I've lived in the Bay Area for more than 50 years and I've eaten carnitas burritos all over the Bay Area. And I have never found anything even close to Jalisco carnitas burritos. The carnitas just melt in your mouth. And the salsa Verde is to die for. I've been eating carnitas burritos for over 40 years. I don't like in the Bay Area anymore but when I do it's a given that my first stop will be Jalisco carnitas for sure. When your there tell Tony I said hi.

Anthony the Owner is very friendly. My burritos would have been Wonderful if I would have said yes to "hot sauce" which meant green sauce which is what I wanted. So, I didn't have anything on my Pork burrito. I did have plenty of meat and it was nicely cooked and seasoned. I will be going back....

I AGREE DELICIOUS CARNITAS!!!!!!! NO OTHER PLACE THAT HAS CARNITAS LIKE THIS PLACE!!! It's kind of expensive 3 burrito $55 and the only use cash. I feel with the robberies it would be safer to have a credit card

The carnitas are delicious, there's no arguing that. Are they the best in Oakland? Not anymore. There are several small pop-ups and backyard operations that have appeared in the past few years and a couple are tastier and cheaper than here. As mentioned, the carnitas here are good, but they are extremely oily and it only gets worse as the day progresses. The oils naturally pool at the bottom of the tray, so as the pile gets smaller, you will get carnitas from the bottom, which have been swimming in oil. Prices for sides are ridiculously expensive. A pound of beans for $8! Ha! Other similar restaurants sell them for $4-5. There is only one person serving carnitas, so the line of people moves at a snail's pace. Bring a chair, as you'll likely be waiting over 30 minutes on a good day. The restaurant no longer has dine-in service, and the dining area is now a dimly lit room with a pile of chairs and randomly placed cardboard boxes. It's obvious that profits matter more than service at this "restaurant". It's a shame. The fond memories I had of coming as a kid in the early 90s to get carnitas from "Don Bartolo" are now just that...memories.

As always the food is great. But the service is just not there. I have been a long turm customer, since Bartolo was there. He made you feel welcome and appreciated. That is not so now. It seems like these people are their against their will, and make you feel like they can't get rid of you soon enough.

Carnitas was served cold. They never have all the variety of the pork carnitas like they always run out of cueritis etc. Not like it used to be. I don't recommend. They should have hand made tortillas instead of those warmed wicrowaves one's duhh...

They were actually working very fast. And to be honest he said in a much worse way that I can't write about here. When he asks if you want rice and beans to go with your order and you say no, he turns away and looks clearly bothered. The guy behind the counter is just as rude. And I'm not the only one to comment that everyone looks like they couldn't get you out the door fast enough. I appreciate the speed of service, but when it is not met with a single smile, or thank you, or even an eye to eye, you feel like you're a bother. You can't go everywhere and expect to get treated like royalty but a bit of kindness and friendliness can go a long way. I don't think I am wrong in saying that half of the experience of a restaurant comes from the service. As far as that goes, it's hard to get worse than this. Have I had bad experiences in other places? Sure. Worse than this on an every visit basis? Not that I remember. I guess you can act and treat everyone as you want when you know you're the best around.
