Best donuts in town. Never a long line and donuts always taste fresh.

Now that I have these donuts in-hand, they're definitely 5/5 on the taste and value. The owner or worker was a younger Asian guy and super friendly - we chatted briefly about what was just on the news. He let me take my time to decide between a dozen and a half dozen donuts, and helped me with a lotto ticket too. The price for 6 donuts, one special, and one very kindly added baker's dozen, came out to $9.00 which is an amazing deal for the area. Noticed coffee is cheap here too; however, I did not get the chance to try it -- about $2.75 for a large iced coffee. Sodas and various drinks appeared to be a dollar per can. He offered the option for an extra bag in-case the donuts got squished, though I declined and opted for just the box for the 7 wonderful carb rings. Upon arriving home, I tried the chocolate buttermilk, classic sugar puffy one, and the blueberry donut. They were brilliantly crispy and light. Zero excess notes on the palate -- just nice, lightly sweet, crispy exterior, fluffy interior. The blueberry donut probably highlighted this the best; though, the chocolate glazed buttermilk had a fine balance between dense (as it should be) and fluffy and crumbly yet moist. Poorly labeled business hours aside, this will be my new go-to for donuts provided I can reach them before noon. Next time, I'll grab an ice coffee or even bagels (!!) and update with those goodies. tl;dr - go before the afternoon since they close early, but fantastic donuts and prices are cheap

Absolutely wonderful. Sometimes the point of sale process is confusing due to the limited space they have to operate. Prices ans donuts are top notch too!

Total cost: $11.55 This was my first time at Happy Donuts and I’ll definitely be coming back! Service was friendly, helpful, and very quick. The man behind the counter tells me that he also makes a great espresso, so I’ll have to go back if only to try. The yeast donuts (glazed and maple glazed) were incredibly soft and pillowy. The glaze on both were perfect; not too thick and not overly sweet. A great complement to the actual donuts. The cruller was great, as were the blueberry and the danish, but the standout for me was the apple fritter. The edges were crisp, while the interior was very soft and moist, with this veins of cinnamon and almost custard-like apple throughout! So, so good!

Visiting Oakland and looking for cake donuts? This place was amazing! Great selection of both cake (our favorite) and yeast donuts. Try the mochi donut! It's yummy. Super friendly service AND you can get lottery to start your day off right! 🍩👍

Happy Donuts in downtown Oakland is way more than just donuts—it’s a whole vibe. Don’t sleep on their Iced Chai Latte. Honestly, it might be one of the best in the city and a total sleeper hit on the menu. You wouldn’t expect it to go so hard, but make no mistake: their drinks are every bit as good as their donuts. Anything they’ve ever brewed for me has been spot on—perfectly sweet, balanced, and full of flavor. For me and my friend, Happy Donuts has turned into a sweet, memorable tradition—whether we’re celebrating something good or just gearing up to take on the day. If you’re an Iced Chai fan, I can’t recommend enough trying it with oat milk (or any plant-based milk). It makes it so smooth, and the chai spices really shine without the heaviness or aftertaste of dairy.

These guys are always busy during the morning rush (6:30AM-7:30AM) , because the DONUTS and coffees are SO GOOD! Made fresh in house. I’m telling you, they make the BEST BLT I have ever had. I told all my co workers about this, and now that’s all they order, lol! Please try it. Staff is so friendly which makes for a good positive start to your day. Enjoy! 😇

Called early in the morning because i was afraid they would sell out, and she held the vegan donuts for me until i could get there. Purchased Vegan donuts, they are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! They are more like a cake donut and not a normal donut, but the icing is amazing. I am from the East Coast, so its difficult to find a donut that is vegan that also tastes good. Even my non vegan friends are enjoying the donuts!! My favorite was probably the blueberry one and i am a maple lover, but the blueberry was 10000000/10. I paid $20 for 6 Vegan Donuts and two non vegan donuts (birthday cake, and blueberry)

I’ve been going here for the last five years and they have had the most Fresh baked donuts that I have ever tasted! I always go in and get my favorite sandwich, turkey and egg on a jalapeño bagel. Best morning food in Oakland!

Extremely delicious and affordable vegan doughnuts! I bought a dozen for work, and everybody loved them! One of my coworkers said she wouldn't have ever guessed they were vegan. The carmel macchiato they made after hearing I wanted something sweet was also super good! I'm glad I found this spot. I'll definitely be back! 😋🍩🌱

Isn't it great when your local neighborhood spot is genuinely the best? Happy Donuts may not look different than your other donut shops, but they hit a level higher. Everything always tastes so fresh, the prices are reasonable, the breakfast sandos are generous, and I have a soft spot for the "croissant" (which would make a Frenchman go into a rage, but *is* a very delicious buttery bread that I do not get tired of). The owner and his staff are all so kind, and we have gotten to know each other by name. They work hard, love their craft, and it shows.

Happy Donuts makes it fresh every time. They also have a wide variety of donuts, some I've never seen before but can verify their deliciousness! The staff is always friendly and they get you in and out quick! If you come to Oakland or live here, you should swing by!

I got the Apple Fritter and custard filled bar. My friend got an assortment including some vegan doughnuts. The Apple Fritter was great but the filling in the bar had an aftertaste that I wasn’t a fan of and the chocolate topping started melting off faster than I expected. The maple glazed old fashioned was super yummy and I think that’s what I’ll get when I go back. The people who ate the vegan ones were very pleased that they had them and really enjoyed the flavors. They also have a great variety of drinks and coffee.
