Our Family has been going to both Restaurant locations in Alameda and Oakland for at least 20 years. We used to go to their single location in Oakland Chinatown ( before they moved to Alameda). This restaurant is Awesome and the food tastes so good. We go to Bangkok and Singapore frequently, and we just miss that original taste from old style cooking. All their dishes are great, but we especially like the Green Curry chicken , BBQ Chicken, Stuffed Chicken Wings, Fried whole fish, and Egg Plant. And cannot forget the Chicken, Pork, Beef Satay Skewers !! The Tom Yum Soup is great too !!!!
This is our go-to let's have dinner out place. The menu is just right for a 10 table Cambodian bistro. The service is excellent, relaxed, friendly, and personable. The food, too, is excellent. On rare occasion you may have to wait for a table, but that is the price of excellence. It's worth it. They will also do takeout.
I loved the chicken wings that had the stuffing. That dipping sauce is bomb Great service, beautiful place, awesome food.
What a great find. Family run, so, well managed. Staff are super friendly, and funny. Food was truly delicious. What great flavors! Good value too
Friendly family owned restaurant relocated from the original Oakland Chinatown location. They also have a location in Alameda. The food is consistently good. My favorites are the beef skewers, Singapore noodles and papaya salad. I also try other menu items and have never been disappointed. Parking is tight in this neighborhood and there is no lot. This is one of my go to locations when we have visitors and they always get me by name when I arrive. You won't be disappointed.
So yummy! My boyfriend and I recently discovered this place and have been twice in the past few weeks. Family-run spot that is super quick for take out. We LOVE the pineapple soup!!!
Wonderful Cambodian food. Highly recommend the pineapple coconut fish soup! Menu reads similar to Thai food, with slight variations. Everything is delicious.
Awesome! One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The stuffed eggplant was delicious and very flavorful. The Pompano was cooked perfectly and the tofu in peanut sauce was very good. We will be back. Delicious.
Always delicious food - i think they recently got even better - and gracious service. My daughter has been eating here, and welcomed, all her life. Thank you for this community pillar in the Laurel!
Cozy and pleasant but most of all DELICIOUS food and great service. I was doing a temp job close by but I'm going to drive all the way from my home just to eat here again. The real test is how good the reheated leftovers were, when I had them the next day, from here!
Hidden gem hole-in-wall type place with great Cambodian food. Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. Decor is southeast asian teak and faux-teak with pictures of ankor wat and Cambodia, printed laminated menus, etc.
Have been fun coming here for years even when they were on 8th Street in Oakland. Their food is delicious love the basil fried rice and the charbroiled pork is to die for! The waiters are extremely friendly, he even remembered me although I hadn't been for several years. So glad we were in the area and picked up lunch, it was delicious!
I was in the mood for peanut sauce and they definitely didn't disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. The owner was really friendly and made even a first timer like me feel like a regular. Will definitely come again!
I recently went to Phnom Penh, with my friends for lunch, and we all had a really nice time in the food was delicious.
One of my family’s favorite places to dine. We’ve been customers for a long time, before they moved to this location. Still a classic & always hits the spot. Depending on the time it may be hard to find parking on the main street but can easily park in the residential areas down the street
Great place for Cambodian food in the Laurel. Their portions are generous and pricing is reasonable for this high of a quality dining option. We love eating in our backyard so I haven’t dined in yet, but have had a Coke or beer waiting for my order and the atmosphere is great and staff are professional and kind. If you go late on a Friday or Saturday the Laurel Lounge can get loud outside, but quiets down as people walk away. We’ll plan to back many more times. Recommend the beef skewers, stuffed chicken wings and veggie deluxe.
My wife and I visit this local restaurant because it's conveniently close to our home. We enjoy the food, and the service is consistently good. We're big supporters of local businesses, and this place has become one of our favorites in the area. I highly recommend it to friends who live nearby
Such a gem. All their dishes are amazing and have unique flavors. The duck curry and soup with fish are my favorites. Staff are always kind and appreciative to have you, and they give big portions!
Absolutely loved this place! Dishes were large portions and reasonably priced. Food was also delicious. Love that it's family owned <3
Amazing place after we went windsurfing in Alameda! Good: - Loved the papaya salad - super fresh and also the spice added a lot - Singapore noodles had a huge portion size - had good curry sauce but a tad too plain - The chicken boneless eggroll dish was so unique! I don't think I could have finished it though since it was huge - Fried banana and sesame ice cream was so memorable, definitely get it - The service was so fast, and they checked in so often - Cute spot for a date day! Loved how clean and sunny it was inside Bad: - The meal was on the more expensive side but we shared a lot! Overall enjoyed the experience a lot here and would recommend!
Came for dinner. Friendly server seated us promptly. They had mostly 2-4 tops but combined tables for us. The stuffed chicken wings were still my favorite after many years. Pork was also flavorful. They have a good variety of good. Iced coffee was sweet and limeade was fresh. It was a great place to catch up with friends.
Ordered the eggplant lunch special and it did not disappoint 🍆✨. The flavor was delicious, the portion was filling, and the service was excellent 🙌. I visited Cambodia last year and loved the energy of the restaurant 🇰🇭💛. The vibrant colors, beautiful arches, and the refreshing breeze from outside made the atmosphere so enjoyable 🌿🌸. After my meal, I had a lovely conversation with the server, which made the experience even more memorable 💬😊.
So yummy! Very fresh ingredients. The meats are tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked (not overly fried or overly salty- just a great balance of flavor!). Not crowded. Neighborhood gem. Easy street parking. Freshly squeezed lemonade was delicious. Sweet polite and quick service as well!
Always delicious!! Support this fabulous, authentic Mom & Pop Cambodian restaurant. The owners are so sweet.
Food was great good service very friendly staff live this place definitely recommend
This is an absolute gem of a restaurant! The food is delicious, and the service is super friendly. The gentleman serving us was extremely warm and welcoming. We tried the egg rolls, Singapore noodles, lemongrass beef skewers, and one of the daily specials, a shrimp and eggplant dish in a tamarind garlic sauce. Everything was spectacular! And extremely reasonably priced as well.
Cambodian cuisine in a cozy cottage. This restaurant is really cute and the food is delicious! They are a bit more meat-focused than Thai fare, but have a selection of vegetarian options. We had the Pranok Katis appetizer (105) which was a mildly spicy coconut pork curry with lots of sliced vegetables. We also had the pork spare ribs and char broiled chicken. Delicious! The decorations sent me down a rabbit hole reading about Khmer history as well, which is fascinating ☺️
This is one of my favorite Cambodian restaurants in the East Bay. There are two, one in the Laurel on MacArthur and the other on Webster Street in Alameda. They both originated from the same spot in Chinatown many years ago. Today for lunch I had the barbecue pork ribs that are marinated in a lemongrass sauce that is popular throughout south Asia. Tender and extremely tasty, I jumped on them before I remembered to take a photo of the entire half a dozen ribs in a serving. Here are the remaining two. Another excellent meal at a very fair price!
With a flavorful array of meat and fish dishes, this near institutional Cambodian restaurant in Oakland dishes out a very satisfying meal. 638. TREI CHAP CHEAN TURK CHHOU-AIM, a crispy-fried whole Pompano fish topped with sweet-and-salty stir-fried ground pork: good mixed with good to create yum! 426. LEMONGRASS PORK RIBS, perfectly charbroiled with fragrant spices. 109. SPICY PAPAYA SALAD, crisp and crunchy, a refreshing accompaniment to the richness in dishes. An excellent option for Southeast Asian in East Bay, where the standard is already set very high.
Great place for Malaysian food… owner operated so you’re getting home cooking…

Excellent food, good prices and sizeable portions. I use to go to the restaurant when it was on Alice St and this new location seems to have let them grow in many ways, including making much more flavorful dishes. Staff was helpful and attentive even though they were really busy.
Very good original Cambodian food and friendly service
I love this place! All the food is fire! The staff and ownership are one! It may take a few more minutes to get a waiter than you are used to but its worth the wait. It's a family operated neighborhood spot and it feels that way in the treatment and in the food. This is the best bet on the block! You can't lose!
Delicious food every time I go! The owners are very friendly and will remember your name after a few visits. Beautiful and clean atmosphere inside. Highly recommend tofu and broccoli with peanut sauce! My friend who enjoys really spicy food was provided with extra sauces upon request!
I recently ate at Phnom Penh and was really impressed by the whole experience. We tried the Sawlaw Machhou which had a really great fusion of sweet and sour flavors, and every bite felt unique. Perfect for sipping. Also had the Spicy Shimp Papaya Salad which I really enjoyed to cut through some of the other flavors, plus the Cha Kathiw which reminded me a bit of pad thai. A little of everything- I was impressed at how unique the dishes were especially with that nice tamarind flavor in the brother, and the variety of spices used to bring taste to the dishes. The service was also great, friendly and pointed. It felt quite cozy sitting in here and eating. Definitely worth a try.
Not fancy, but good value for money and friendly, efficient service. There are some healthy options and some more decadent options. I consider it an excellent choice for a weekday meal. My favorite is the lemongrass, fish, and pineapple soup - really nicely balanced flavors and always satisfying.
First time here, and was delighted by the varied choices on the menu, and the many items offered. The fish curry was delicious 😋

Ordered takeout, so I can't really speak to service or atmosphere. Sachkor Cha Kreun (beef & veggies) was delicious but like 60% onions. The egg rolls were perfection
I wanted to try cambodian cuisine and it was worth it. The food tastes very good and has also a different flavour than other south east asian foods. You get big portions, therefore the prices are really correct. The waiter (is he also the owner?) is very polite and considerate. The only reason I don’t give five stars is because the service is a little slow (but the waiter/owner does it all alone, which is kind of a challenge).
Very quick turn around. I remember going to this restaurant 20 years ago in Chinatown. I’m so glad to have found their other locations in Laurel which is 10 mins from me! And alameda too! I picked up a large order in a short time frame in the early afternoon. So happy !
If you coming for Cambodian food this is the place gets busy but the service is fast,
This was my first time ordering from here. We ordered sweet basil fried rice with shrimp, beef skewers with stream rice and chicken & green beans. I asked for spicy but there was no heat at all. My favorite was the sweet basil fried rice w/shrimp. I will go back I want my friends to try this place.
This place is probably one that serves very authentic Cambodian food but it's no place for a hungry vegetarian to venture into. There aren't many explicit options and a few of them could be made without meat. I found the flavors lacking which were only over compensated by large portion sizes. Strangely the food tasted better reheated the next day after I added some soy sauce and eggs on the wok. It is probably what this place is best for - comfort food eaten as take out.
I’ve always wanted to try Cambodian food and parking isn’t too hard here in Oakland. We came here on a Monday evening and it wasn’t too busy, there was just one server and maybe one cook but felt very homey. We ordered the spicy papaya salad but it wasn’t too spicy. It was a hot day outside so we drank lots of water, there is no ac in the restaurant. We also ordered the stuffed chicken wings, pork rib, vegetarian duck, and Singapore noodles. Lots of flavor and some spices, we started adding more of the chili sauce to the dishes and made it more spicy. Since it was a hot day we didn’t try any of the curry or soups but I think I’d like to in the future. I would say it reminded me of like a Thai and Indian mix of food.
Delicious Charbroiled Pork Chop with lemongrass spices and veggies! The "Vegetarian Duck" dish had great flavor. Friendly service in a family run restaurant.

Good food in a sketchy part of town. We've been to Phnom Penh when it was in Oakland Chinatown and Alameda. We enjoyed the cuisine at both. Well, after dropping our daughter off at the airport, we headed over to the one on MacArthur Blvd to check it out hoping we could eat indoors during post Covid19 times. Unfortunately, street is busy with cars racing down the street and restaurant only offered take out. Bummer. Food is good enough but we will not be back to a neighborhood where one doesn't feel safe. Bang, bang, welcome to Oakland.
One of the few Khmer restaurants in the area, Phnom Penh had a pretty good selection of dishes and a comfy atmosphere. The samlor macchou kreun was sub-par, and only offered with seafood option, but the moarn katis krahome was delicious, albeit a moderate portion. The jake chien was super good, and paired well with the ice cream. Not as authentic as I'd like, but overall a solid B meal.
The restaurant seems to be very well liked by locals for its very friendly service and convenience, but in truth the food itself is decent but not particularly great, and we were slightly disappointed about the quality because it was so highly rated. Probably still a decent option on the stretch but pales in comparison to other Cambodian restaurants in the Bay area. They do have a big variety of classic Cambodian dishes including various curries. The interior is very cozy with some Cambodian accents.
