Old style restaurant. Subdued ambience at the bar. Great service from Alan, and good conversation with him. I had the beef wellington as I wanted to try something not usually available at a restaurant. It was excellent, the beef cut was tender and the pastry was baked to perfection. Would recommend.

Though I did not eat at Mr Lyons , I found my bar experience totally delightful! The staff were unbelievably friendly, professional, and skilled at what they do. The ambience is fantastic. The restaurant decor and environment is very inviting and warm.

If you’re looking for a fun night out, we highly suggest Mr. Lyons. We prefer to sit at the bar, where Allan, the bartender, takes such great care of us. Ask him about his unique cocktail and desert tips! And Roston, the general manager, is the best. He makes a point of stopping by to chat with customers, takes very good care of the regulars, and leaves us feeling like we’ve been visiting friends. The happy hour ribeye is a great deal, fyi. We also indulged in the sushi handrolls and 4-layer caviar dip. And leave room their famous carrot cake roll! We give the staff and food a 10!

This was a truly wonderful experience for me and my then boyfriend and now husband @1975jumby Matt was a great server and very kind : our Brussel Sprouts were a great portion and his wine suggestion on point : a great value for the money and the Beef Wellington was phenomenal. Everyone told us that Mr Lyons. has absolutely have the best dinner rolls. and this is 10000% correct . We loved their grass fed filets Mr Lyons is a jewel of the desert and too good of a spot not to go for their cocktail classes and partake in the value they add to the community. The romantic decor is perfect to wash the day away with its magical ambiance. Its the best lighting and amazing AC - lol - Thank you for everything, We will always be back!

Food was amazing but the service was absolutely the best part so much so we returned the next night with more family members.

Given the name, we had to eat here on our recent trip to Palm Springs. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all great. I have nothing but positive things to say. As a vegetarian, oddly enough steakhouses are my favorite restaurants and Mr Lyons didn’t disappoint.

The best stake house and the best food you will find in the desert! Their filet mignon, their mac and cheese, their bread buns 🤤 everything is 10/10. I’m loyal customer for 2 years and I will continue to go there as long as I live here 🤍

The Atmosphere of the restaurant with its different themed dining rooms is amazing. The high level of service and the food is the best tasting at Mr Lyon

Had Thanksgiving dinner at Mr. Lyons and it was our second time dining there. Great food, ambiance, and service. Will definitely be back again.

First timer and absolutely loved it! I had dinner at the bar. The service was excellent. The menu is traditional but there are some really eclectic small plates (the carrots are delicious). They also serve Louis XIII cognac which I'm told is the best of the best. I didn't indulge but the presentation is very bourgeoisie. I'm told they have a speakeasy but it was closed for some kind of renovation. Hopefully it's open next time!

This is a very romantic old world style restaurant, beautifully decorated, and a true dining experience. The service was absolutely outstanding. A bit pricey, but a nice menu with good food.

What does it say when Texans enjoy beef in California? Amazing food, phenomenal service across the board. All of the staff stepped up to help cover our table including the manager John and the sommelier Joey. Our waitstaff Brianna and Linsey made our one night in Palm Springs memorable, anticipating our needs before we voiced them! Really outstanding service. What an eclectic mix of the charm of yesteryear’s Hollywood royalty and today’s desire for a personalized experience.

Excellent atmosphere, food and cocktails. We wish there was a pinot noir that wasn't dry and the lighting in the first corner booth is a bit glaring, but other than that, we loved the experience. We had the whiskey sour (DELICIOUS and perfectly foamy), old fashioned (great), wedge salad (excellent), endive pear salad (perfect), the Prime NY steak (cooked perfectly), prime rib (tender and juicy), potatoes mousseline (could use more flavor, bit consistency was great), mushroom risotto (amazing!), and chocolate budine dessert (tasted like a campfire chocolate marshmallow treat). The hostess gave us a quick tour of their space, which includes a dining room with green velvet booths along the edges and tables in the middle, their private dining room which is also used for overflow, a lively bar and lounge used for those without reservations, and a small hidden speakeasy cocktail bar with an outdoor space that has a bocce ball court, loungers, and a firepit. We are new residents...I was worried this place was going to be too old fashioned for us, but it wasn't at all...we will be back!

Great dining room and bar ! I like their menu has plenty of shareable bites and swanky drinks! I enjoyed the gin martini and the duck pate monte cristo along with the meatballs and the philly cheesesteak. All were delicious! Very attentive service too!

It had been a while since I had eaten here. Some how it is not at the top of mind thinking. Maybe because I view this place as so special. IF you want the feel of old Hollywood haunts, this is the place. From the minute you walk in, you know this is no ordinary Palm Springs restaurant, but one steep in tradition. Beautiful wood, candlelight-light lighting, and class service. Be sure to start out with one of their craft cocktails...

This is a classic in Palm Springs that shouldn’t be missed for dinner and drinks. Especially, show up sometime to try out their famous “speakeasy” bar. Just turn right after passing the check in desk and pull back the curtains ! They have an amazing drink menu, tons of high end liquors, and a great wine selection.

Mr. Lyons was recommended to us by a very trustworthy source. So our expectations were high from the get go. Top notch. Our selections included the Beet Salad, Prime Rib and Brussel Sprouts. All were of high quality. The dessert was bread pudding….excellent flavor. Service was great. The atmosphere here is quaint. Love the dimmed experience. Wine and cocktails were great. Shoutout to the great staff!

We are so glad we came to Mr Lyons. It came highly recommended and now we know why. The prime rib and sirloin were both cooked perfectly! The service was amazing and it has a great vibe. The hostess seemed annoyed when we asked to sit at a different table, but it was basically empty so I didn’t see the big deal. Other than that, highly recommend!!

Omg best place in Palm Springs!!! We have Ben going to Palm Springs for years and so sad that we just now came here. First the food is amazing drinks and amazing and service is top notch. We came in and was greeted by Micheal! He was so amazing and toured us around showing us the different dinning areas and telling us of the great history and where old blue eyes himself sat. The speak easy in the back is so great and really puts you back in time. Lots of people and never over crowded. We didn’t have reservations and they got us a seat in 30 mins went and had a drink in speak easy while we waited. The martinis were on point and prime rib was to die for. Please go here when your in Palm Springs you won’t forget it!!!

If you never been make sure try at least ounce, the best meal ever the 28 day aged bone-in Flannery rib eye 24oz was the best, just remember it's at market value, but well worth the price and so large two people can share, and if that's too big for you the beef wellington was a delicious it melted in your mouth as sooin as you take a bite. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was delicious, and the best desert to get is the sticky toffee pudding not to be shared. The other dessert is the chocolate pot de créme very rich definitely should be shared. Greatest experience I've had at restaurant. Infinite 🌟

This place is luxe. From the design, to the food, to the service. Arrive earlier and drink in Seymour’s which has a lovely outdoor area (we had the northern elixr cocktail). We ordered the French onion soup and lobster bisque which were perfect, followed by their signature beef Wellington and wagyu. Just sensational. Our second time here and cannot wait to return.

We were in Palm Springs for a few days and went to Mr. Lyons for dinner. We got a table right away and that is always nice. The cocktail were mixed very well, I enjoyed my drink. I got a great Ribeye steak - med-rare and to was grilled perfectly. The waiter was attentive and did a very good job .I ordered 2 desserts and both were yummy. A+ service and excellent food makes a wonderful dinning experience. Highly recommend

Came here for the first time on the recommendation of several locals I have encountered over the last few years I have been vacationing here. I'm a long time LGs fan, been going there for over 20 years. Mr. Lyons is a whole different animal. They supple sultry interior combined with an impeccably well-prepared staff; I've never had a wait person recommend a wine in such a meaningfully accurate way until the night we came here. Beyond which, the food was exceptional. So many places have a tendency to oversalt things. In this restaurant, they rest on the laurels of the freshness and quality of their ingredients and it shows. The shrimp cocktail was impeccably executed, the salmon en croute and beef wellington were both divine incarnations of their namesakes. The beignets were flawlessly executed with an equally flawless trio of side sauces. And the artisanal cheesecake was a very unique take on a very popular dish, but I'm a big fan of pistachios and tarragon. My own bias is for Italian style ricotta based cheesecake, but for a cream cheese cheesecake, it was good.

Great place to eat. Wait staff are very professional, attentive without being too pushy. The quality of the food was definitely worth the price. The steak was cooked great and served just how we asked, the sides we tried were wonderful as well. We tried the mac and cheese as well as the brussel sprouts. We'll definitely be back to try some of the other offerings. So if you're looking for something a short distance from the more popular areas this place is definitely recommend.

Absolutely delightful evening at Mr. Lyons steakhouse! We came for the prime rib and were not disappointed. Definitely on the level of a traditional English Sunday roast. The French onion soup is exquisite. The staff is exceptionally accommodating!

This has become our go to steak house in Palm Springs. I absolutely love the atmosphere—the setting is straight out of the 1940s. I have been a couple of times so far and each time is in a different room. The steaks are very good and the side dishes are simply amazing. The service is filled with earnest and friendly youth. I was too busy enjoying my food to take more photos 😉

Best Beef Wellington I’ve had in Southern California alongside perfectly executed additional classic steakhouse fare. Incredible vibes scream old school steakhouse, and decadent interiors deliver an elevated dining experience.

Called 1 hour prior to make reservations and host was very kind to take our reservation. Soon as you walk in greeted with amazing hostesses at the front. We were sat down immediately and waiter came to our table right away. We were sat in this amazing VIP room with mood lighting that made the night very romantic. The waiter made great suggestions for starters and entrées. The starters came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Very flavorful to get the appetite open for the main. We were given perfect timing to enjoy our start before the main dish. Once the main course came out it was beautifully plated. The beef wellington was soon juicy. I got the 24oz prime rib that was perfectly cooked to perfection. Great restaurant to visit for great steak.

We didn’t have reservations, but we were able to be seated in the bar area. Felt modern and intimate with low lighting. We arrived in time to enjoy happy hour. It was a limited menu, but prime rib sandwich was excellent and big enough to split. Homemade chips were seasoned perfectly. The Lyons Lemonade was a nice compliment to the meal.

Forever my favorite place! I live in the area for over 3 years and I been to Mr Lyons many times, I also visited many other fine dining establishments both in the US and worldwide and nothing compares to food here in my opinion. Filet mignon, NY steak, bread rolls, mac and cheese those are my favorites!

Absolutely everything we ordered was delicious. The onion rings were out of this world and the beef Wellington was delicious as well. Would highly recommend a visit! And be sure to check out their awesome speak easy for cocktails after dinner as well.

An absolute MUST for the best steak of your life!!! My husband is from NYC and I’m from TX so…trust us. The prime rib minute steak was outstanding and cooked to perfection. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and can’t wait to return! Our server, Eric, went above and beyond for us. Thank you for everything, Eric!!

I wish I could give them 10 stars. I’m a foodie person and that restaurant is one of the best in town. Many people complained about darkness; it is dark but when you get in, your eyes get use to it, don’t worry. We got there early and the lady at reception told us if we want, we can go to Seymour’s bar which is the bar adjacent to the lounge. We had our drinks by Joshua who was an excellent bartender, then we went to have our dinner. The steak, the prime rib eye steak, was very juicy and tender. For dessert we had carrot cake which was delicious. Overall the ambience was great, and the food was delicious. If you like good food and nice atmosphere this place is a must.

Amazing food and service! My first time being there such a great experience. Our wait person had great suggestions. The shrimp cocktail was amazing. The prime rib was a bit fatty but still good. Horse radish was unparalleled, freshly grated and hot. Can't wait to go back!

Enjoyed the lounge at Mr Lyons. As usual, everything is 10/10. Service, beginning with the valet to the host to wait staff, are so warm and professional. You feel special. The food does not disappoint. Exceptional quality and presentation. We love this place so much.

From the start, we were greeted by Victoria and Mercedes, who seated us (and dealt with a couple unreasonably demanding parties throughout the night—with patience and grace). Michelle, the general manager, gave us a fabulous wine recommendation. Our server, Kathy, guided us through the menu, and our evening, by checking in regularly and even asking us about the timing of each dish. Dirty plates were picked up almost immediately. The atmosphere in the “green room” was spot on: music, lighting, and decor. Aside from all of that, the food was delightful. Served hot, exactly as ordered. We make sure to visit Mr. Lyons every time we are in Palm Springs. We know the food is consistently delicious. However, this visit surpassed all expectations because of the service. Thank you!

Jose George Lizette and all of the staff from Valet to host to every person that touched our table thank you sigo much. We celebrated my mother 60th birthday and choosing Mr Lyons was the best decision. Every single plate that came to our table was scrumptious. The crudo the soups salads entrees and sides the baked Alaska. Every single drink was delicious next time I'm taking an Uber and enjoying all the cocktails. Thank you so much.

Went there for the first time in a long time, nothings changed which is GREAT because that means they haven’t become complacent nor given in to entropy. Drinks were great, food was delicious and servers and bartenders and the hostesses and manager were great. A great gem of a place for those wanting a Great experience, oh and the happy hour menu is great and they’re open every day unlike what Google map app says.

Disclaimer - I'm a vegetarian. And I am giving a steak house 5 stars! Why did I go to Mr Lyons? I was told I had to try the Vegetarian Wellington. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! In fact, I would go so far as to say this was one of the best meals I've enjoyed. There is absolutely something for everyone on the menu. We enjoyed amazing cocktails (I recommend the Aviation), Parker Rolls, Potato Chip Salad (highly recommend this), Baked Cone Cabbage, Potatoes, Veggie Wellington (All vegetarians in the area need to try this!), Prime Rib (my partner is a carnivore), and Mint ice cream. I also need to mention the atmosphere. Classy, contemporary, cool, comfortable - I don't really know how to describe it, but you will know you are somewhere special as soon as you walk in. If I had to be critical of anything, I suppose the service at the end of the meal really slowed down. We waited a long, long time after finishing for someone to clear our plates, order dessert and pay. I can appreciate not being rushed, and every other aspect of the service was spot on, so no big deal. If you are considering this restaurant, surely you've already seen the menu and the prices, so let me reassure you that it is worth every penny. This is the kind of place to go for a special occasion and I can't wait to go back.

If I was ever on death row, I would request a meal from Mr. Lyons be my last meal. I’ve never left a review in my life so the fact I took the time to do this should tell you something. And shout out our waitress Sara Marie she went above and beyond, she made our experience amazing. Give her a raise.

DELICIOUS and lovely. My boyfriend and I went out for date night here on a Saturday night. We made reservations about a week ahead of time. We got the pistachio crusted broccoli, leek and cauliflower gratin, French onion soup and split the bone-in ribeye. Everything was delicious. Loved the dark, classy vibe of the place and our waitress was great. I highly recommend.

I had a fabulous time here celebrating my birthday. I love a good steak and I am a frequent flyer at Mastro’s Ocean club in Malibu and have been a member at the private Club at Chops when I lived in Atlanta. I was so pleased with the food, the service and the vibes at Mr. Lyons. The bone in ribeye was perfection and I loved the shrimp fried rice. My espresso martini was excellent as well. Everyone from the valet staff to our server and the hostess were all so kind. I was a bit nervous to eat here because of some of the negative reviews but I’m glad I ignored them and you should too otherwise you’ll be missing out on one fabulous meal! Make sure to find the hidden speakeasy tucked away in Mr. Lyons and continue the fun times there!

New Years Eve...pouring rain...packed with people Mr.Lyons delivered. It was amazing. We missed our reservations because of all the accidents on the freeway to P.S. Sat at the Bar. Were told an hour wait but it was 30 minutes at most. Dover sole reminded me of New York and LA in the late 70's, early 80's Fantastic! Very pricey but huge portions! Onion soup was also fantastic and so was the classic Caesar salad. The Onion Rings are huge.A tad greasy but delish.Wish they had a few more choices like chicken and a pasta dish (not gnocchi) because there is a lot of beef (meat).I guess it is a steakhouse after all.The sides all sound incredible.I will definitely go back and try many more things. The service was impeccable and the drinks are innovative.I stuck with a classic martini which was generous in size. They could use a few more Tequila and Vodka drinks because they have lots of Bourbon and Gin drinks. All in all, this is now my new favorite restaurant in P.S. I can't wait to go back...I hope this review doesn't reach too many people. So that I will never be able to get a rezy ! LOL..! Thank you Mr.Lyon for making the last day of 2025 turn out perfectly!

Palm Springs has so many new and trendy options for dining and great cocktails. But nothing beats an old school classic with a dark moody bar. Killer cocktails and great steak. One of the highlights of my trip.

I'm a wedding planner and hosted two events with Mr. Lyon's over the course of my client's wedding weekend! We held an after party at Seymour's and a welcome party at Birba. They were both incredible. The communication leading up to both was dialed and clear. On the event, the staff was attentive, kind and communicative. The food was delicious and the guests were talking about it all night. The vibes were impeccable. Highly recommend.

In town for a weekend getaway and just so happened to be staying right across the street from Mr. Lyons, so we made reservations, in anticipation of a nice night out. The exterior of the restaurant looked a little shady but the entrance was beautiful with a nice outdoor setting area to the right, once inside you are transformed into a swanky/ upscale steakhouse with dining room seating, a bar area and the aforementioned outdoor seating. Nancy and I settled into our booth with hi-back seats and plenty of room to have a conversation without much noise and immediately felt immersed in the relaxing setting. Cocktails were on our minds, she ordered a Blackberry Bourbon Ginger Fizz and I had a Pimm's cup, so refreshing and so on the spot, executed to perfection! Sarah Marie was our server and she guided us through the menu with confidence, knowledge as well as the patience a good server must have in order for the dinner to flow flawlessly for the guest, we were also visited by the sommelier but hard liquor was on our mind. Nancy ordered the wedge salad and i just had to try the "potato chip salad", not potato salad to see what that was about and a side of Parker House Rolls, the salads came out chilled and perfectly dressed and the rolls were warm/ buttery goodness. We had decided that we would split a Beef Wellington and baked potato and a side of Brussels sprouts, loved everything, the beef was spot on medium rare and the sides were more than we could eat. No room for dessert but had a wonderful time and look forward to returning some day. overall, great experience!

Absolutely blew my mind. I Google mapped "steakhouse". Found multiple. Checked out the pictures and this place was catching my vibe. Made reservations same day. Arrived. Ordered the beef wellington, Brussel sprout, mash, lobster ravioli, ceaser salad and the caviar and that's when it happened. My mind was blown. I new then that this restaurant was performing at a much higher level then I anticipated and it made me so happy. Such professional staff. I'm very thankful for the meal. Complements to the chef.

A classic Steakhouse, excellent and menu educated servers set up a wonderful dinner. The food was served quickly, properly seasoned and hot. Tables are spaced apart enough where sounds are there but quiet conversation can be had. The prices are high but the quality of food and service make the sting not so bad. Indulge yourself.

I had a great dinner here with friends in a Saturday night. I absolutely loved the atmosphere in here. Think classic Palm Springs steakhouse that’s been renovated and updated. They have a wine and cocktail list but you can also BYOB. We each got a salad and an entree and split three sides, which was more than enough. Steak is the thing to get here - I got the Beef Wellington and Potato Chip Salad. Both recommended. Prices were high but not crazy for the setting. Would repeat

We called for a last-minute reservation and they got back to us quick. Luckily, they had a table available for Sunday night for two humans and two dogs. It was our first time trying the Beef Wellington, and they absolutely killed it! The service was excellent, and the patio was quiet enough to keep our dogs calm and comfortable. Valet parking made everything even easier. Overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed the experience.

We went very early for happy hour so that we insured we had a table for our group. The happy hour is fun, it’s pricey and there’s not much selection but what they do have there is delicious and the setting is so luxurious and fun. Our friends who arrived later had trouble getting in and getting a table and we’re put on a pretty long waitlist. There is a side bar called Seymour’s behind a curtain that was available to be seated in. That’s an equally beautiful space within this restaurant. It looks like there are multiple spaces to get your Palm Springs luxury on.

M
Michael Knaeble

Classic Steakhouse - we went for happy hours as some friends raved about it. Happy hour is first come first served with seating at 5 and the bar fills first so we did not sit at the bar. We got a super nice quiet table. The happy hour drink prices are great but unlike our friends we are 1, sometimes 2 at the most drink people. Turns out, happy hour food prices are the same as the dining room which are on the pricey side. That said our $28 shrimp cocktail was great and really big shrimp. The cocktail sauce however was way too much horseradish for my wife and even I found it distracting from the wonderful shrimp. I found no seafood which most steakhouses have disappointing. The tomahawk pork for two did not disappoint though and the twice baked potato was artistry. 2 drinks, 1 glass of wine, food and $200 later we left wondering how on earth we spent that for happy hour 😂

Yeah, its a four star for me. Loved the old spot, now that vibe is gone, except for the attached bar, Seymors, which seems to have kept the old design. The service is professional, the vibe is fine. The food was not great. My prime rib was so small I almost laughed, to be fair, who really needs the huge cut of prime rib that one typically sees at, say, the tam o'shanter in la. At the same they charged 50 bucks for it, so maybe it should be a tad larger. Might bring an out of area guest here in a pinch.

B

Quite a pricey steakhouse. Food was excellent, but nothing exceptional considering the prices. Great service! An excellent choice for a very special occasion.

C

Overall food was good. The steak was great but a bit pricey for what you get in comparison to other steakhouses. Great date night spot with a speakeasy attached. They had a good drinks and atmosphere.

Onion rings were fun, prime rib was a little tough and didn't have a lot of flavor, Beef Wellington was basically extremely lacking on the mushrooms, brussel sprouts were tasty but pretty raw.

Good, not great. There was a precious reviewer that said it best, you want so bad to give it a 5-star review but the food falls short of the price. The ambiance is perfect for a special occasion and the bonus room has a cool tropical vibe. It’s would be great for a larger party or celebration. All the food was good and well cooked but nothing really stood out to us. The presentation was great but it just didn’t seem to work. It’s strange and worth the try but as a whole it fell short with our party. Side note though, the onion rings were awesome.

J
J Bird

Delicious steakhouse! A bit pricey but the beef was on point. We had prime rib, beef wellington, grass fed filet mignon, cheeseburger and fries. Prime rib sauce makes it even better...Enjoyed the sides of onion rings, twice baked potato. Kim chi fried rice ok but greasy and while Mac n cheese is good, I've had better. My mom's only gripe about this place is they didn't offer bread and not fill the beer up (left a healthy 2 inch gap)...and why not since they're so expensive?! Ambience inside is really nice and outside is misleading because it doesn't look anything that would catch your eye. Service is great and responsive... Appreciate they set up a little delicious cake for our anniversary. Very special and be back again to visit.

The ambience in the main dining room is lovely. It felt old school but not dated. Our service was excellent so I have no complaints on either For the price of this meal the food was average. Our prime rib was cool and should have been at least warm. The au jus was also cool and the horseradish sauce was rather bland. The twice baked potato was dry and not very flavorful. The Brussels sprouts tasted slightly burnt. The carrot cake was also somewhat average. We started with the caviar dip and chips and the potato chip salad. I liked the salad. I would recommend the caviar dip. I ordered an Eastside to drink and it was perfect. We look forward to going back to try the speakeasy but probably not for dinner. Despite the excellent. Service, the food was unremarkable and expensive.

Swanky place with upscale experience. Service was good. Drinks were flowing with many options and a full bar. Plus a nice wine selection! We did get a Malbec to share. Entrees were all great. Recommend the prime rib! Steaks were just okay - got the New York and was underwhelmed. It was good but not great. Onion ring appetizer was soooo good!!! Side to get: cauliflower and the truffle mushroom and the Brussels sprouts!!! The Caesar salad was different. It has a cheese crust bowl, and long leaf lettuce. Interesting and different but nothing to write home about.

Nice place for date night with a really cool bar area and nice ambiance in the restaurant. I was a little disappointed in the Beef Wellington. The puff pastry was undercooked. My husband had the sole which was pretty good. The Baked Alaska was nicely presented but the meringue wasn’t the best.

Solid experience. We enjoyed our meal and had a good time. Food was nice but not exceptional. Felt like all of the dishes could have benefitted from some slight improvements although they were decent. For example, the wonton on the hamachi was soggy, the potato chip salad was short on chips, the bone marrow was over-seasoned, etc Excellent wine list with fair pricing and good cocktails. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere.

I had high expectations based on the reviews, the price and also from the personal recommendation I received. Celebrated a birthday dinner - excellent atmosphere for that I would say. Perfect ambiance, great service, delicious cocktails. The only thing that didn’t make the mark for me was the food. The apps were okay - good but not amazing. My daughter got the filet mignon - delicious and cooked as expected. I got the pork chop tomahawk - it was okay; a little dry and flavor was average. What was disappointing was the carrot cake. Friend said it was the best thing ever … it was not. Cake was a bit dry and lack the texture I was looking for in a traditional carrot cake. What did stand out was the chocolate lava cake. It was as a lava cake should be and delicious. For the price per dish, I would expect EVERYTHING to be perfect. It was not. Hence, the 4 stars.

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Mr. Lyons. One of the things we appreciated most was being able to set our own pace — nothing felt rushed, and the staff gave us plenty of time to settle in and enjoy the evening. The wine list is excellent, with a thoughtful selection that paired well with the dishes. The food itself was the highlight: both the pork chop and the steak were outstanding, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. There were, however, a couple of things that could be improved. The restaurant is extremely dark — atmospheric, yes, but to the point where it’s difficult to actually see your food. A bit more light would make the dining experience more comfortable. We also didn’t love the upselling. We ordered a simple martini, and only when the bill came did we notice an extra $8 charged for Belvedere vodka, without this being mentioned beforehand. Despite those points, the staff were friendly, the food was very good, and the overall experience was pleasant. It’s a nice spot for a quality meal, though perhaps a bit too “well-priced” for what you get.

You never want to leave a steakhouse feeling underwhelmed. Here’s a quick recap: We arrived 15 minutes early and found valet parking available. The atmosphere was swanky, but the ongoing wedding created a loud vibe that didn’t suit the steakhouse atmosphere and created a lot of in and out foot traffic. Although we had a reservation, they prioritized a couple for immediate seating, which was frustrating. None the less we were finally seated at, exactly 9 PM. Once at our corner booth, a thoughtful gesture was the staff pulling the table out for easy access. After that, we waited too long for our waiter to take our order, but eventually, we got to discuss the menu and ordered drinks and appetizers. Our appetizers—creamed corn and whipped potatoes—disappointed, corn undercooked and potatoes not whipped and cold. However, the caviar and bone marrow were exceptional. For dinner, we ordered the steak special, a veggie wellington, and a beef wellington. Here’s where it got messy: the kitchen delivered our meals without clearing the starters first, creating chaos with dirty plates and no new silverware. Despite this, the food was fantastic. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the Wellington was delicious, though on the veggie wellington we'd prefer beet greens over chard for a sweeter flavor inside that devine crust. Afterward, they boxed our leftovers quickly, but it would have been better to receive them with the check, due to the table size and still ordering dinner. For dessert, we had date pudding and a frozen Meyer lemon dessert, both outstanding and a perfect end to the meal, especially with the desert wines. The elegant experience we had upon arrival was lost as we had to move our own table to leave, complete oversight by the management team. Overall, I’d rate this a solid 4 stars. While there were a few issues, the experience often hit the mark, leaving me curious to try another Palm Springs location or just maybe Mr. Lyons can nail it?

Not bad but not mind-blowingly great either. We had the bone marrow, brussel sprouts, shrimp cocktail, beef Wellington. No complaints. Service was excellent. Stopped by their “speakeasy” after dinner. Sad to say that was underwhelming.

Many in our group of 6 was not happy with the quality of their steaks. My New York Strip was surprisingly fatty and sinewy. The person across me was not liking their porterhouse. Two girls returned their meal for a different item. Staff was very nice and competent. The steak was otherwise. Maybe it was a bad beef vendor purchase that day? The place came with good recommendations from a chef. Oh well!

Coming from NYC, the steak houses here are hard to top. Had high hopes but the food was not as good as the price tag. I think if you do not eat steak often/go to steak houses you will be impressed. The beef Wellington was pretty good but the prime rib was meh.

K

Prime rib was very good, but the bone marrow and onion rings were not. They also didn't have the wine we wanted from their list, which is a major frustration. Then they try to sell you something not even remotely close to what you wanted to begin with. For $800 for 4 people, I wasn't that impressed.

The ambience is fantastic. The restaurant decor and environment is very welcoming and warm. The staff were unbelievably friendly. Our waitress was awesome. The food, was mediocre at best that you would find in a diner, except I had better food at a diner. It pains me to give this review because I generally do not like to go out of my way to badmouth any particular restaurant. It was a $230 bill for two cocktails, a fatty piece of prime rib ( no sides to accompany the Prime Rib). A wedge salad with barely any dressing on it. The dessert was the best part. This is so painful because I want to give this place 5 stars, unfortunately I cannot in good conscience.

Really disappointed in the all of our steaks we For a steak house it was awful. ,.For the price we expected way better quality, it was chewy, too much sauce,, under cooked and super tough. The desserts, carrot cake was dry. Not sure we will ever be back. The sommelier gave us attitude when we were ordering our wine.. some confusion over which wine we ordered. Price point not worth it!!

O
Olivier Gosse

This was our second visit but some items need attention: it took a long time to get our wine to learn about our Pinot Noir not being available, the sommelier argued about one glass of wine being cloudy, the wedges wrongly prepared, the mushroom soup was good but lukewarm, the risotto’s taste was odd, the server never asked us wether we were satisfied with the dinner, brought the soup and no spoon, charged for bread( no no!). Our evening at Mr Lyons was a mix of some positive points and several negative that motivated us not to return, unfortunately.

Disappointing food, especially at the price. But service and atmosphere are good. Had the Thanksgiving dinner set menu for $115 per person with three courses. The pumpkin soup appetizer was excellent but steak and lamb entrees and sides were mediocre. Would have been more acceptable at a cheaper price, but definitely not a $115 meal.

First prime rib very tough! Sent back, brought filet . Not that much better. Lobster ravioli good but wouldn't bring me back there. Too many other wonderful restaurants with better food and more reasonably priced .

Came here for my husband’s birthday and ordered the fried chicken with “Korean quick pickle.” For $31, this was genuinely disappointing. The chicken itself was bland, with almost no salt in either the meat or the coating. The breading was sludgy and sliding off the chicken, and it was plated with the coating pressed directly against the plate, eliminating any remaining crispness. It was unappetizing on arrival. The “Korean quick pickle” set an expectation that wasn’t met. It read more like a lightly tweaked Midwestern cucumber salad than anything informed by Korean flavors. Nothing about the chicken suggested a double-fried or properly crisp preparation, which made the pairing feel confused rather than intentional. Beyond that dish, there were several comfort and service issues. The wooden chairs were uncomfortable and visibly splitting. The music was loud enough to make conversation difficult. Our server refilled bottled water with tap water without asking, which felt careless. A cheese chew pastry they provided for free tasted like it had picked up refrigerator odors. I recognize that many other reviews praise the atmosphere, cocktails, and steakhouse-style dishes here, which is why this stood out so sharply. Maybe these items are outliers, but at this price point, consistency and attention to detail matter. Beautiful space, but this experience missed on food execution, comfort, and service basics. I wouldn’t return for these dishes.

Truly excellent food, but slow and unprofessional service. The amount of wine poured was paltry for the price. I had to flag down a manager after my family of four waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our entrees to appear (and had waited 35 minutes since last seeing our waiter, Ben R). The restaurant itself wasn’t busy, but, as our waiter told us, there were also two events happening. I don’t know why we got the shaft because events were taking place, unless the waiters were made to attend to both the restaurant and the events. After I inquired after our food, the manager and Ben. R both separately asked us if we wanted more wine while waiting but neither suggested that it would be complimentary. My family was there for my mother’s birthday, but nothing special was done, as many other PS restaurants offer. We ended up feeling abandoned even after shelling out $260 for three 5 oz. steaks, a salmon plate, a small mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, 2 glasses of wine, and a cocktail. This restaurant is too crazy expensive to not treat its patrons like royalty. If you want an excellent steak AND excellent service, go to LGs or Lord Fletchers, where old world class still reigns.

Overall, disappointed in this experience. Was hoping for a classic dining experience, only got a restaurant living in the past...with serious need of refresh. Service was disjointed as felt no one wanted to take care of us. Plenty of staff in plain sight. We were a group of four drinkers and missed several dollar on the table by nonattentiveness. Basic service points were neglected throughout meal. No love in any food. Just made by cooks plating dish for 1000th time. Hostess was very nice. Restaurant had great feel...somewhere I would want to eat. Wished there better execution as potential was here...and sure it was place to be at some point in the past.

Unacceptable: the Mr. Lyons experience in a word. We made a reservation and indicated “special occasion” for a celebration of our engagement, one of the most special times in the lives of many. We arrived early and politely indicated this to the maître d, who suggested we enjoy a cocktail at the bar while we waited for our reservation time. This put us under the impression that we’d really be taken care of and looked after, but this wasn’t the case at any point. After friendly hellos, the bartender proceeded to ignore us. Pleasantly and noticing the absence, a gentleman named Alan (who should be teaching service at this restaurant along with one other individual whom I’ll mention below) came to request our drink orders - the martinis were absolutely divine. After not much time with the martinis, someone else we had not seen before brought a bill for the drinks (most restaurants let you carry over to the dinner reservation to pay once) — this action was cold and indicated to us we weren’t being taken care of. Then we asked this person politely: will the maître d come back to guide us to our table? No, to back to the front and start over he said. We arrived at our table. A very friendly busser with an Italian flag pin (wish we were able to get his name. He was a very young gentleman) came to bring us waters. After this, we were quite literally ignored for over 30 minutes. No dinner menus even, no server in sight. Finally, I first asked a different busser (a woman in her 40s) if we would please be able to order - she rolled her eyes at me and said the server would be over. Then nothing. Finally, I went back to the front of the restaurant and very politely asked if we could order food and drinks; the maître d said they would take care of it. At this point, I would have expected a wholehearted apology and an offer of at least a single measly drink on the house (much cheaper than losing customers, and friends of customers for life), but even the apology wasn’t extended. The server actually took another 15 minutes after I inquired before coming over to our table for introductions (45+ minutes after sitting at this point; meanwhile multiple other tables that sat down at the same time as us were ordering after dinner drinks or paying bills before we even put in our first drink never mind appetizer orders at this point. When our food arrived (chip salad, snap peas, rib eye, baked potato), it was mostly absolutely delicious (although my half of the ribeye was far too fatty and steak knives were extremely dull, which is surprising for a well known steakhouse). No one checked on us at any point. The same busser who rolled her eyes at me earlier was quick to grab plates before we had even finished. The server finally reappeared to push dessert on us (I’m sure we would have paid — no remorse for the absolutely terrible service despite our extreme politeness and patience). We’d had enough. Mr. Lyons is the place to go to ruin a wonderful life celebration. Food is good, but you can find the same quality in the area for a better price in many cases and with far more respect for the customers who choose to spend their hard earned money and scarce time at their establishment. Only reason for a 2 is Alan, the busser gentleman with the Italian flag pin, and the decent food and our determination to have a good time during this special time in our lives. Mr. Lyons, if you are going to respond to the comment, it will take more than “we’re sorry. We hope you’ll give us another chance” at this point…

Overall very disappointing. We did not have reservations but were accommodated in the bar area quickly. After putting in our order it took over 20 mins for our drinks to get made. And well over an hour before our salads were brought out. Almost 2 hours after arrival our food was brought out. The drunks and the food was great service was not. Girls night out wasted just sitting around waiting for food.

I have to agree with a majority of these reviews. Mr. Lyon’s is a rip off, the quality is not present in the food. Don’t be misled by the ambience and vibe of the restaurant… The service was incredibly slow, my Wellington steak was close to raw, flavoring was bland. I was incredibly disappointed. We paid 200$ for a meal that left us wondering why we were paying so much! Save your money and time and get some in-n-out instead.

It pains me to write this review, but unfortunately this restaurant has gone dramatically down hill over the past year. Tonight was the last straw. Our service was extremely slow, our waiter had an attitude and the food had to be sent back. To add insult to injury the waiter dropped a full tray of drinks near us, getting members of our party wet and didn’t apologize or even mention it. No discount, nothing. I felt guilty for recommending this place to my friends, especially considering the price. Your money and time are best spent elsewhere unfortunately. It used to be great!

We tried Mr. Lyons for Thanksgiving dinner and left underwhelmed. The food was generally bland for the price point, and while service started off strong, it slipped as the night went on. Our desserts didn’t come out at the same time, we had to remind the staff that two were missing. They kindly offered dessert wine to make up for it. They also didn’t have some of the dessert options we originally chose, which should’ve been caught when orders were taken. To be fair, the staff remained friendly and gracious, especially impressive on Thanksgiving, but overall, it wasn’t worth the cost or the occasion.

The waitress was very sweet and nice. I had ordered the prime rib and my friend ordered the beef Wellington. Food came out in a timely manner as we were told the beef Wellington would be about 35-40 minutes. The beef Wellington my friend had mostly was fine minus the arugula that was stuffed in it. When my prime rib came out, I could instantly tell it wasn’t prime rib and the meat had gone bad. I took one bite and sent it back. It tasted like spoiled meat. She was nice enough to bring me a new plate with no extra charge but again the meat was incredibly tough. I took 3 small bites as the meat was very tough to cut with the fork and nice I had been given. And it was not tasting right even with sauce. I pushed my plate to the side and ate a few bites of the sides we got. They comped me $20 for my meal and gave us a free dessert. The waitress stated “so sorry that this didn’t taste like a prime rib, it is towards the end of the night and has been out for awhile”. I was a bit shocked at her statement. My family owns restaurants and if that was ever the case we would take those items off the menu even if they were popular items. I ended up getting sick for the next 2 days while I was there on vacation. Food poisoning perhaps? The very next morning I threw it all up - all 4 bites I had. I wasn’t able to enjoy any other food and couldn’t walk around as much as I wanted to. It was a very frustrating experience and really put a damper on the whole vacation.

We saw a rodent running around the area between the dinning room and the kitchen. We pointed it out to our waiter and he saw it. He said “oh crap” and laughed. Then he said that he told his colleagues and that they would comp the drinks that we had ordered with our food.

We do not recommend. We just left and it was horrible. Our waiter started out good, and knowledgeable. He went over the menu ‘favorites’ and specials. We ordered the filet and the prime rib. I was with my elderly mother in law, so we split the prime rib. When I went to cut the prime rib, it was so tough that my knife literally flew out of my hand, but I didn’t say anything, except to ask for a new knife. When my son cut into his filet, it was quite rare, like blue rare and he likes his steaks rare to medium rare. He was actually not even asked how he wanted it cooked. He also was not going to say anything about the bad food, because he does not complain ever, but after a few bites he realized it was room temp in the middle and not even tender. Because the restaurant is very dark, we shined a light on the steak to see how rare. The reason the waiter gets bad marks is because we noticed that while we were shining the light on the steak, he noticed it, and turned and walked away. We also noticed that he peaked around the corner (our table had a wall next to us) 2 more times, he looked at our table with the steak pushed towards the center of the table, and turned and walked away. 10 minutes went by before a water girl came by, we then asked her for our waiter. She came back and then asked if we would like a box for the steak. We said no, and said the steak is the reason we need the waiter, so then she went back to him and he then came over. The waiter offered a new steak, however at that point, because it had been awhile, we declined. We did not complain about the prime rib because I did not want to pile on, but it was horrid and went unfinished. We did really enjoy the atmosphere which was old school very dark inside, which we liked because not many restaurants are like that anymore, and we were trying to find positives. The table across the way also had a problem with their meal, something about the bone-in ribeye. The manager apologized to them, but did not have the courtesy of coming to our table. I am sure he knew about the steak, because the waiter said it was coming off the bill. Overall, we will not go back and would not recommend. We should have read the reviews before we went.

Ordered tomahawk pork chop was very dry with no sauce, chutney or gravy. Dinner rolls were just like the little Hawaiian rolls, ceaser salad consisted of 3 leaves of lettuce (whole) with a descent flavor dressing. Onion soup was good. For a $125 each with No drinks. Will not go back

Second time visiting this establishment after our last visit in the fall of last year and unfortunately most likely will not be returning... This past Saturday I brought my mother to dine in for her birthday celebration with my family. My server was fantastic. Did all they could do to make our night remarkable. However, after several complaints from our table about the air conditioner in this building and my child's food items not being delivered to our table on time. I asked to kindly speak to the manager in hopes of being able to alleviate the issues at hand...to my surprise... they never came to our table. After several attempts of asking to speak to (from what my server explained...two managers and one being the general manager..John and Maxine from what my server said), it was clearly out of my servers control and I could tell they were quite frustrated as well with them not coming to our table. Our server expressed that the managers tell them that they will adjust the temperature of the dining room, but in reality never do. I have never heard of this type of deceiving behavior, which shows they do not care for their guests. We decided to finish our meal, skip dessert, pay our bill and leave with a sour taste in our mouth. After working in the service industry for over 30+ years from Michelin star establishments, to opening up bars all across the East Coast, I am truly astonished with the type of people they have running an establishment of this kind. I hope they can get this under control. I appreciated our servers honesty and would probably only return for them. Regardless, we did enjoy our starters and main entrees.

Let me start by saying this was one of the restaurants I looked forward to coming to every year as we go to Palm Desert yearly. Happy Hour here is so much fun with creative drinks. Last week was a HUGE disappointment. Before I start, let me be clear, the a support team (non-services and host) were exceptional. Server and food was a different story. We were sat and didn’t get an even a menu for 20 minutes until we asked for one, then a server didn’t acknowledge us for 30 minutes, again until we asked to see one. Then our server after 40 minutes only asked “what drinks can I get started for you” without eye contact or another word. Upon arrival of our apps, the Kim chee fried rice was soaking in 1 inch of oil- disgusting!! All the way through our service, the server was unprofessional and short. I could go on, but at this point it would be just complaining. My wife and I will never be going to this establishment again, I was emotionally hurt by this and it saddens me to not have this place to go to.

We Waited over 1/2 hour, even though there were tables available in the bar. The hostesses (Dominique and Sam) were incredibly rude and disrespectful. They laughed at us asking about the long wait and recommended we wait in the lobby. This place use to be so much fun and classy but is a true Palm Springs joke.
