Great food and service. Very quick service and clean. Recommended. Catered well for gluten-free needs.
Authentic would be the word. Always a bit wary of places in squares as sometimes the location is more important than the food - not in this case. The restaurant is all outdoors. It closes if it’s raining. It is beautifully clean with attentive staff. The food is excellent, traditional meals. I had some of the house red wine which was very drinkable. The bruschetta starter of avocado and salmon followed by the beef pasta were both excellent. Not a tourist trap, it was mostly full of Italians. Would recommend and definitely go again if I was in the area.
Located in a lively square. The atmosphere was welcoming and casual. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! We shared a vitello tonatto which was delicious. I then had house made gnocchi with girgonzola and salsiccia. Very good. My husband had a tuna steak with vegetables. He loved it.
Very nice experience. Authentic food, I had something off the daily menu and one item off the regular menu. Both had really homemade taste. Would recommend. To the potato cake: maybe make it smaller and put little salad.
My wife and I recently visited Stresa for some rest and relaxation after a work conference in Milan. While there we enjoyed a delightful dinner at Hostaria Vita. Since, I had not yet had an opportunity to sample the local saffron risotto, I opted for their risotto with tuna tartare and burrata, while my wife ordered the panecchia with asparagus and sausage. Both dishes were delicious, the tuna with the risotto was an amazingly good combination. We added a lovely white wine, Greco di tufo to compliment our dishes. The wait staff were friendly and attentive and the prices were quite reasonable. If you’re in Stresa and looking for a delicious place for dinner or lunch at a reasonable cost, try Hostaria Vita.
I had a nice early dinner there I had the paccheri Genovese and the grilled salmon with salad. Everything was delicious and the service was great.

I’m generally picky about food: especially about Italian food! However every positive word about this place is 100% true, and I feel grateful to both parties: the owners/staff and the guests who reviewed the restaurant. I visited it twice, and both times enjoyed a lot! I had octopus (really, the best I’ve ever tried!), pasta with porcini (absolutely delicious) and recommended wines. Would come again asap - wishing long life!!! Oh, and they are open all day, which is nice.
The food here was fantastic, we had unfortunately eaten at some subpar restaurants prior to this and this restaurant really showed the others up. The staff were brilliant, attentive and friendly. Being in the square there's a great buzz making the atmosphere really warm and cosy. Local wine served there is also top notch. Highly recommend, also highly recommend booking in advance.
Service great, very attentive and fast. Staff is very nice. Romantic and quiet atmosphere even though they have many places. The food is extraordinary good. Angus filet was PERFECT, tender and melted on the tongue. Risotto with tuna Tatar as well. Starters were great too and the wine. All in all worth it and a must go for dinner in Stresa.
The place is amazing. At the end we returned here 3 times during our 3 days stay. Saffron risotto with tuna, octopus, lasagna and antipasti were especially wonderful. We were also offered free limonchello shots at the end.
We loooooved this place! Chose it reading the reviews and it rose up to the expectations. The daily menu from zia Maria was great, I ordered tartare w avocado, calamarata, tiramisu’ and it was all delicious. On top of it all, shout out to Alessio who was such a perfect host - welcoming and talkative but not intrusive! This place really made out day at Stresa ❤️
Great place. Food is really good and Italian (I’m Italian), service is outstanding (any time you need something someone is there to help), and the atmosphere is the best in the area (compared to the other restaurants in the square, Hostaria Vita is the most classy). Highly recommended. We went twice as we didn’t want to get disappointed with another choice!
What a great spot! The food and service were perfect. I had been chatting to someone via instagram and they were so helpful and then once we got there it was much of the same. We stayed around the corner in 5 star accommodation and the food and atmosphere here was 100 times better. it was so good we stopped for lunch on our way out of stressa the next day. If you are in the area you need to stop in. The lasagne was especially great, forgot to get a pic as was too busy eating it.
We had an amazing Parmigiana and Gnocchi with gorgonzola for a decent price for the location. I would recommend this place for lunch before continuing exploring the city. (We also used this restaurant to escape the unexpected summer rain 😀)
I am an American who has lived in Italy for five years now. I’ve visited MORE than enough Italian restaurants and it’s safe to say that Hostaria Vita is a restaurant that has IMPECCABLE service, DELICIOUS food, and a NICE atmosphere. I live in Baveno which is next to Stresa and it is my favorite restaurant (most of the other restaurants are very touristy but at Hostaria Vita you eat GOOD)! Tonight I brought my family and everyone was AMAZED! Below I have added some photos of our dishes! NONE of them were a disappointed! We LOVED them ALL! COZZE are a must!
Another great experience at Hostaria Vita, coming back after a year since my last visit. The Paccheri alla Genovese was very tasty, the calamari was well-presented, crispy and fresh. The sommelier/waiter/owner Alessio showcased his knowledge of wine (including a very interesting rosé), all of which complemented the dishes very well. Definitely recommended!

Very friendly, very delicious! We had Bruschetta, raviloli and steak. They served vegetables with the steak, very very good and tasty!
Amazing saffron and tuna tartare risotto. Bruschetta with porcini a bit too salty. Parmigiana was also salty and the eggplant was not properly prepared and was undercooked. Good wine recommended by staff (by the glass). Overall good experience but some of the food needs extra attention.

Situated in the central plane. With a lovely atmosphere. The food and the service is good. I had the lasange for lunch. We had the priveledge to had some local music while we had lunch.
