Amazing view they have. I had coffee with canolino (with cream), it was okay. Coffee with that view made the experience a beautiful one. Here are some pictures from my visit.

We only had a glass of white wine and a Marocchino. It was late afternoon and it felt very much like a local bar, and indeed it is, because there aren't many places there. But I'll be back for the pizzeria and restaurant, too. In the warmer months, there's a terrace with a lovely view.

The restaurant enjoys a panoramic location, with a lovely view and cool air from the terrace. The menu is limited (three first courses and three second courses, which change regularly), but everything is delicious and, most importantly, plentiful (you need to be a good eater to finish it all). The staff is friendly and fast, but they're understaffed for a restaurant with so many seats if there's a large crowd. The wait between courses can be lengthy (we sat for two hours for lunch and only ordered a first and second course), but if you're not in a hurry, it's fine. Reservations are recommended; pizza (I believe) is only available in the evening. Ample parking is available right in front of the restaurant.

Stopped by for breakfast. Excellent cakes, cappuccino, and coffee. Served on the terrace with a spectacular view of the Pavia hills. Truly a treat. 👍

This place was a lifesaver as we arrived too late for the San Martino Fair, as there was absolutely nothing to do or see around. The pizza was good and the lady who served us was very kind, and best of all, we were able to order a pizza shortly after 6:00 PM. The bathrooms were clean, and the atmosphere was generally quiet.

September 2022: We had lunch with the set menu on Friday, with a wide selection to choose from. The risotto was delicious, the porchetta and cod were delicious! The homemade cake was delicious. The price was excellent. The terrace had a magnificent view.

Sunday lunch at noon. Il Portico, a restaurant located in Montalto Pavese, offers a bar and a newsstand in addition to catering. The lunch location was truly pleasant: a spacious portico with a panoramic view of the enchanting hills beyond the Po. The cuisine made a great impression; the flavors were well-balanced and authentic. However, there were some negative aspects that I cannot overlook. Service was particularly slow throughout the meal, from ordering to the actual serving of the dishes. This caused some frustration among diners. Furthermore, one of the main courses listed on the menu was already sold out by around 12:30, leaving some diners without their chosen option. This was a bit disappointing, considering the wait we had to wait for that specific dish. In conclusion, Il Portico Restaurant is a place that offers a homey atmosphere and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. The cuisine is capable of delighting the palate with authentic and delicious flavors. However, the slow service and the inexperience of being left without one of the main dishes listed on the menu are critical points that deserve attention. Despite this, it might still be worth trying, perhaps giving it a second chance to fully appreciate its culinary potential.

I went to this restaurant on a Sunday for lunch with a reservation. The place overlooks the square and has more of a bar feel. The service is truly poor, almost improvised. We arrived at 12:30, as recommended, and some of the main courses were already sold out and couldn't be ordered. Absurd. "We only had 7 cuts and we've already sold them all." At 12:30, a place seating 40-50 people... on a Sunday... An hour's wait for appetizers (a charcuterie board). After this start, where I thought I was in a "nightmare kitchen," I have to admit that all the dishes were good. I definitely wouldn't recommend it based on my experience.

Always 1 waiter for about 20 tables. Service is always quite slow. Avoid going w/ starving children. Pizza is on average. The only nice thing is the view from the outdoor terrace on the Oltrepò Pavese vinegards.
