What a wonderful place that fosters community in Placerville. Last Wednesday of the month is Drag night and we always show up, a wonderful show with amazing and talents kings and queens.

Delightful cocktails served by friendly staff. Tacos were delicious.

This is the best place to hear music. The sound system is incredible. There is no bad seat in the house. Plan ahead & pay the very minimal seating charge to sit at the tables to watch the show. You can also sit in the bar, but it's not the same experience and sound. Still very fun & the drinks are good.

Nice venue for live music. It’s designed with the bar area in a separate room from the live music so people who aren’t dancing or who aren’t there for the music won’t get blasted by the bands. (I wish more clubs were like this) The staff here are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. I recommend visiting the green room for a good live music experience!

We attended PRIDE night on Sundat, June 29th 2025 and had a great time. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the drinks were great. We will definitely attend again.

Beautiful venue. I came for the live local music. Very nice stage area. The sound guy is on point! A lot of local talent. Bar staff were nice and attentive. Glad they have espresso here. This place has a nice artistic vibe. I’ll be going here again for sure.

Great bar & wonderful music! Love when Achilles Wheel Trio or Full Band play here. Enjoy the Sunday afternoon shows & nighttime, too. Fun place, great owners & now a full bar. Nice bar, bathrooms & stage/seating room.

Love this place! Amazing food! Great drinks and an awesome performance space. The sound is super professional and you can even watch and listen to the show from the bar. This place has a very cool, intimate feel. Perfect place to go grab a beer, take a first date and/or have dinner with some friends.

Went for the first time last night and had a blast! Wide selection of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and the staff was incredibly friendly to our entire group. Definitely fun seeing live music being performed, and the bands were very entertaining.

We stopped for breakfast during our travels through the area. The diner is right of the highway so easy in and out with plenty of parking. It has a 50’s theme interior, think Mels’ from American Graffiti. We enjoyed our server, very prompt and personable. I had their homemade corned beef - So Good! My husband had the San Francisco Scramble which he enjoyed with their in house potatoes which he raved about. Mes’ was a nice place to stop for breakfast. We would eat here again.

I was fooled by the listing on Google Maps calling this the Original Mels Diner--it's the name of the chain, not the original Mel's Drive-In which was actually in San Francisco. I found out there are now 2 Mels (Mel's) chains, and yes the apostrophe is a flag. None the less, we enjoyed our supper here, and appreciated the helpful staff. The retro diner atmosphere was pleasant and well kept up. I had their vegetarian burger, pleasantly evidently of their own making including a honey sauce. Fries were also unique and very good. Shakes were quite expensive, but also quite large--brought to the table in a tall stemmed glass along with the stainless steel mixing tumbler containing the rest of the shake. It was prepared for two, served with double straws and two spoons. Google Maps will not accept uploaded photos.

The Original Mel’s Diner is such a gem! Their veggie burger is one of the best I’ve had anywhere, and Joey’s Caramel Monkey Crunch is simply outstanding—sweet, crunchy, and unforgettable. We left with our stomachs full, and honestly, it felt like an all-day meal at such a great price. A big shout-out to Ashley R, who made our visit even better. She was super kind, attentive, and generous with her suggestions, helping us pick the perfect options. Great food, great value, and excellent service—I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I am driving to Tahoe!

This is a great classic diner! The burgers are perfect. The bun is very light and flavorful a crispy golden fries. The chicken and waffles are enough for two people unless you are just extremely hungry. Service with a smile and very very quick turnaround from order to table.

This place was so much fun!! It felt really nostalgic, and the food was great. We ordered the turkey club sandwich with fries and the chicken fried steak with gravy and hash browns. My sandwich was super fresh, and really delicious. The chicken fried steak gravy was fantastic, rich and full of flavor. The steak itself was pretty standard, but it still hit the spot. The only small downside was that some of the fries were undercooked. I could’ve asked for them to be cooked a bit longer, but it really wasn’t a big deal. I just took the leftovers home and crisped them up in the oven. Even though Mel’s is a chain, they really capture the 1950s diner vibe in the best way. I’ve been to Ruby’s and Johnny Rockets plenty of times, but those places always feel a little too polished or corporate. Mel’s felt genuinely authentic. A true blast to the past! The decor, the music, and the mini jukeboxes at every table really make it special. (Bring some quarters if you want to pick a few classic tunes.) If you’re looking for a fun and relaxed spot to grab some classic comfort food, I definitely recommend trying Mel’s. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back, enjoy a good meal, and soak up a little bit of that 1950s diner charm. I’m already looking forward to going back. Also maybe this place felt EXTRA legit because it’s right down the street from Main St., Placerville (a charming little slice of small, home town goodness)! It gives ALL the historic feels.

I came for breakfast with my mom, brother and sister in law. It was very busy. Hard to find parking. We were seated right away. Our waitress was Pamela. She was wonderful....very attentive and a great friendly personality. We j9ked with her a lot. I ordered the chicken strips. Got all the sauces...the honey mustard and ranch soooo...good. It was tender and yummy...they give you 5 good size pieces. The fries crispy. My mom ordered the california omlet I believe and really liked it a lot. My brother the lumber jack breakfast. It comes with pancakes..sausage...bacon...ham...he really enjoyed it. We would go back for sure. Great food...clean...wonderful waitress...😊😊😊

Mel's is such a great place. I've lived in Placerville for less than 6 Months and nothing felt like home. It wasn't until I went to dinner at Mel's that I actually felt like I was home. The atmosphere is so inviting, there's music from the jukebox and people quietly chatting with each other and the employees are so friendly! Unfortunately, I couldn't get the name of our waiter but he was super friendly, really nice and just a sweet guy. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Just went for a praline sundae for a little special celebration. Our server was so sweet - she totally took care of us with an extra amazing treat. A fine spot for lunch/dinner, but their breakfast options are pretty sad. I got poached eggs with biscuits and gravy, my lady got a breakfast burrito. Her order was disappointing. Mine was without exaggeration, the worst biscuits and gravy I’ve ever tried. The eggs were poorly drained and the whites were runny. Left my food mostly untouched, something I can’t remember the last time I did.

I asked for very funny scrambled eggs. When my plate was brought to me the eggs were well done. Please advise your cooks that once eggs are removed from heat they still cook for 1-2 minutes. The waitress had to take my meal back. I hear her tell the cook that she was going to throw up because I asked for runny scrambled eggs. I truly didn’t appreciate that. Also, our toast was burnt and we couldn’t eat that either. Please send your employees to proper training in customer service and your cooks need schooling on how to cook. We’ve always have had great experiences here but this one time and how we were treated, it’ll be awhile before we come back, if we do.
