Had a wonderful visit today with my family before the Plattsburgh Men’s Hockey Game. Food was good, atmosphere was quiet, and the staff was very nice. My mom and I got a Pastrami sandwich and French onion soup which was delicious. Hubby got the 1838 and my dad got the mushroom Swiss burger.
We happened upon this place by accident as we were driving around. There is a great happy hour deal (buy 1 get 1) from 3p-6p. We had the lake side lager and the octoberfeat. yummy! We also split an order of the poutine. Very dense but delicious.
We stopped here for lunch on our way through and were really happy with our choice! We shared the spinach/artichoke dip and an Impossible burger and they were both DELICIOUS. The place was super busy when we arrived and the staff was still friendly and helpful. And the location in the old barracks building was super cool.
Came here not long after opening in 2015. Knew the building Valcour occupies is incredibly old and historic and supposedly haunted. Ended up seeing a man dressed in Revolutionary War era clothing at the end of the hallway by the kitchen while the building was full of employees and customers. Haven’t ate here yet but definitely want to someday!
What a wonderful place!!! It's calm and beautiful. Old style design. Very good local beer (i tryed copper nails) and the best burger i 've ever eaten. Honest prices, professionnal stuff.
Great brewery! Also, great food! They smoke their meat on site/in house. The pulled pork sandwich and tacos were excellent.very tasty. The blueberry lager was tasty and paired well with our meals. So much so we bought a growler to go. My wife is still raving about her tacos, two days later! The chef toasted the tortillas so they were crispy yet soft and pliable. I had a pulled pork, ham and bacon sandwich. The fries are great. The waitress was patient with our decisions and helpful in our choices of beer and food. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.
My friends and I enjoyed our time so much! The seating was quick, the waitresses are attentive, personable, and amicable, and the pricing was decent for the food that you get. The Rajun Cajun burger was cooked phenomenally! Juicy and plump. The calamari is fantastic as well, well breaded and a perfect mix of crunch and chew. We're already thinking about the next time we can go!
Always love it here, the building and the history are so interesting and beautifully preserved. Severs were great, had the shrimp tacos and fries; tacos were stuffed with big juicy shrimp and the fries were hot and crispy. My friend had the flat bread and it looked delicious. They have many gluten free options, too, one of the many reasons I stop while in town.
Truly amazing food! Our entire group of 6 loved their meals. It's a super historic looking place, good atmosphere. The servers were super friendly and attentive. We arrived super early in the morning, so it wasn't super busy. The wait times were good, and their burgers were delicious. Their bathrooms were also very clean, and there was lots if parking outside.
Valcour was selected because they're in one of the RV programs that shares their parking lot for overnight parking. So now I can have a beer or two and not have to be concerned about driving. Fabulous! As for the location, the historical marker on the outside of this amazing building reads, "Old Stone Barracks. This building was built in 1838. The oldest structure on the base, stands as a witness to many events significant in American military history. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, February 18, 1971." On a Saturday night, they were not very busy. I was immediately seated inside (air conditioning!) and a helpful waitress took my order. I spent the rest of the evening sipping beer, people watching, writing Yelp reviews. I also managed to consume some (extremely hot!) fried pickle spears. Overnight parking was quiet enough and very level. This was a very pleasant stop and I will definitely return when I am back in Plattsburgh!
Located in a gorgeous building, this was a nice place to have dinner, especially since we could see the sunset so nicely. The beer here is solid, nothing bad to say at all. They may have one of the tallest burgers I've seen in a while given it was nearly as tall as my beer glass. The tacos were recommended to us and they did not disappoint at all.
We had a fun visit to this place ! The beer was fantastic! I tried quite a few different ones, and it was such a fun tasting experience. The only downside was the limited selection of snacks. My husband has multiple allergies, so it was a bit tricky for him to find something safe to eat. We ordered fries and asked for the sauce to be left off. They did, but it ended up being the saltiest fries we’ve ever had, and they did warn us beforehand. It would be great if they had more snack options for people with dietary restrictions, but overall, we really enjoyed the beer and the atmosphere. And at the end, the talented guy playing with rubber ducks was such a fun and unique touch!
this is a nice place to stay for a while, the environment is very peaceful, quiet, and have a nice view. The restaurant is nice, the beer is like, i like the choice of the beer sample. My dad loves the French fries. He never loves it and so this mean it is really good, keep up your good French fries!. The food is good too. I have a good time here !
Do you want the drunk owner to ask to hold your newborn baby? Do you want your wedding cake PRECUT? Do you want dinner to be served HOURS late? If the answer was yes to any or all of the following, then look no further than Valcour Brewing Company! Professionals at ruining your wedding experience. Additionally, of course, how could I forget the icing on the PRECUT cake (see what I did there?); At no additional cost, you will win a gaslighting experience from said owner the likes you've never experienced before! Instead of taking professional accountability and admitting that they provided beyond sub-par service, the owner BLAMED my friends, THE HUSBAND AND BRIDE, that it was they that were at fault. It doesn't get any better than this folks, so if this sounds pleasant, then come one and come all to Valcour Brewing Company: America's worst wedding venue :)
Very underwhelming service at my husband’s and my wedding. It’s unfortunate because we have had good experiences in the past before they went under new management. Their event coordinator was not present for the event and we were not informed of this. They cut our wedding cake WITHOUT asking. All food was served extremely late and cold. We tried to call and reach an understanding with the owner after the fact, as it did not go as planned at all. She proceeded to place the blame on myself and my husband. Overall it was a more stressful reception than either of us would have liked. We don’t recommend holding events of importance here, as they do not seem to have a well trained staff to accompany them.
DO NOT HAVE YOUR EVENTS HERE!!! Had a personal chat with the owner and she was very rude. Trying to place blame and on me and my partner for mistakes that happened at our event and were completely the companies fault. She was only worried about the company making money. Anytime we tried to reason with her around the mistakes that happened at our wedding she would cut us off and claim it wasn't their fault.
Had a wedding here. Coordinator only showed up shortly morning of and did not say she was leaving. We had to deal with various other coordinators throughout the planning process due to turnover. Dinner service was atrocious. It was an hour late, many guests were served cold food, or not served at all. They also pre cut our wedding cake without prior approval.
I have loved every beer I've tried here, but recently the food has not been up to par. My boyfriend and I stopped in and got the soup of the day which was great and the 1838 sandwich which was mid, but the biggest disappointment was the to go bacon chicken ranch flatbread we got. The bottom was burnt to a crisp and was inedible and we didn't look to make sure everything was okay until we got home. In my past visit my mom had a similar issue with the bread on her sandwich as well as how long each course took to come out.
