The food was outstanding. The staff was ultra polite. I had the cucumber water with tasted great. I liked the last 60s / early 70s theme. Refined me off eating at restaurants in the warmly 70s even we would come down for a vacation. The food serving was very large and reasonably priced. Worth the visit and money. The restrooms were clean.

Excellent burgers! After a fun day on South Padre we stopped and had dinner. Each burger was yummy both the meat and bun were excellent. We also had the mushrooms and fried pickles which were eaten quickly.

Wonderful place for those visiting Port Isabel or South Padre. It's right next door to the lighthouse, which at times has movie nights. The staff is very friendly, there's a spot for those who prefer the indoors like myself and an outdoor place to enjoy your email. It's also a very delicious burger. They also have a Vegetarian option!

OMG the burgers here were so delicious I was considering going back the next day for another one! Juicy, cooked to perfection. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The bun perfectly toasted. The fries just right. I ordered the #9 burger, comes with bacon, egg and cheese 🤤🤤🤤 literally better than my homemade burgers. The "decor" of the place is not too well, the outside seating is that of someone's old backyard but then have a indoor seating area, with ac and tv, that's better option then sitting with the flies. But the burgers, the best!

What a near place-inside or out! I enjoyed a scrumptious grilled chicken breast sandwich with avocado, grilled onions, bacon, and all of the trimmings! I washed it down with refreshing Cucumber water--- just the ticket on this warm, Summer day! Friendly, attentive, and personable individuals working here! They made me feel right at home. I'll be back! Thanks again!

Wow, what can I say. Showed up right as they opened and they found out it was our first time here. The lady was extremely helpful on making up our minds. If you are looking for a fantastic burger that is different. Not sure you could find better anywhere. Ordered the gyro burger (lamb) and with the home made tzaki sauce over the top.

I have been a customer of this little shack of restaurant since they opened 10+ years ago. Never disappointed in their food despite its curb appeal. This shack stands out from the more appealing tourist attractions and shops as it is built in-between two obviously separate buildings. The welcoming atmosphere and hustle of the women behind the counter is very reminiscent of your grandmother's kitchen; complete with one of the best burgers in the area.

Literally a dive!! Family operated. They put heart and soul into some great kitchen burgers. Come here and give your money to local-private business. Fries and mozzarella sticks were great!! Very polite and courteous. I had the Ben’s BBQ and the wife had John Dillinger.

Great burgers and chicken sandwiches in eclectic setting Limited menu, no frills. Local favorite- known for easy going way. 1/2 lb. Burgers are cooked fresh and not pressed - steamed ... so juicy. Place is definitely a hole in a wall- and old wood BUT it is a great place for lunch. Usually just a cook and waitress but great service. Be patient if you go with a crowd. They have patio seating - dog friendly. But they also have a small eat in area that is air conditioned with TV. Cash only but ATM on premises (May have to try a couple of times as it is an older model) no sweet and low but Splenda if that is important. Burgers are in $10 range but if you add bacon may pay a bit more. Fries with meal. Soft drinks and Tea - large glasses

I'll start with the bad so I can end on a positive note. When we walked in we stood around for a few minutes because nobody was around to tell us if we sit ourselves or wait, eventually I found someone and asked and we sat down. The words "beer garden" are in the name. I expected more than a few domestic beers and a few Mexican beers...big let down. Water is only served bottled which was a little annoying and when our bottle came out it was splattered with what looked like salsa. The place is cash only and they do have a sign and an ATM, but it would be nice if the server told us just to make sure we can pay. The service was ok, not bad, but nothing spectacular. I could have done without her texting while I'm trying to pay. The good: The burger and fries were very good! I would get food from here again but only to go.

I never write reviews but this place just really upset me. Burger Shack is a shell of what it once was under this new management. This place used to be a jewel of port Isabel offering delicious burgers and good island vibes. And now? You’re walking into a filthy and soulless restaurant. You can tell the only thing the new owners saw when they opened this place was dollar bills because they have cheaped out on everything while hiking up the prices. You used to walk into this burger joint listening to island appropriate classic rock and now you hear cholo rap blasting from the kitchen. If that’s your vibe… go for it. There is flies everywhere and you can see the lack of proper hygiene in the kitchen. The food is really lackluster. The burger patties are dry. They’re lacking in seasoning. The fries taste of freezer burn. I once made the mistake of ordering nachos here and it was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life. They microwaved the nachos before handing them to me causing the cheese to harden and taste like plastic. I have never seen a restaurant fail at making a dish a child can make! This place is a stain on port Isabel and is only there so they can profit off of your hard earned money. Soulless and no passion. Just greed and filth. They completely ruined the legacy of the elderly couple who used to manage this place. Stay away. Give your business to the hard working people of Port Isabel and SPI not these mosquitos.
