This is a very Fancy resturant. The good wad amazing. I loved the half chicken and gorgonzola salad. Very high prices but the quality i believed was worth it. The bread and butter was even 👍 👌

I was a little intimidated by the place at first. It is such a staple of the community that I was expecting it to be.. Actually, I don't know what I was expecting. It was noisy, but it wasn't loud, which is the best way to be noisy. They recently changed the menu according to our waiter, so I am not sure what they used to have, but the Parm Salad was amazing. What the other people in my party got also looked great. Oh, also, I am not sure if it is the uniform or it was just a coincidence, but I liked how the staff dressed. It was similar and neat, but varied in a way that if you couldn't remember the name, you would recognize a variation of apparel.

Best buffalo wings ive ever had...we had 3 of the ones they offer. The Cajun style, house original and sriracha all cooked crispy everything was cooked Perfect and the cajun style were the best ive ever had. If im ever in the area again I will for sure be back.

This was my second trip to Maxfields, my first was this past summer on my first visit to the area. Both times, the food was excellent and the service top notch. The large open seating area give an 'old time' feel to the place and was perfect for our party of 10.

Food and cockatiels were amazing. Got a chance to sit right on the water. The wife and I shared a series of appetizers and were licking our fingers. We just moved to the area so this will be a frequent stop for us :)

I don't know why I was so startled by this superb restaurant along the Canadian border! What makes this place so special? Is the chef French? Did he or she wander over from Montreal and decide to settle in the far northern reaches of New York State? I don't know. What I do know is that I would happily drive the eight or nine hours through stark wilderness, (there is no shortage of very fine restaurants where I live in New York City) in order to eat at Maxfields. The food is stunningly good, the staff is perfect and the atmosphere is calming and immensely comfortable. Great wines too. On a warm day it is fun to sit outside and eat by the river.

What a great place for excellent dining! Cozy and comfortable, the staff is attentive, but not interfering. The atmosphere is light but rich... and the food selection is fabulous!

Great place. Nice bar, good beer selection, outside seating (front and back). Wait staff and service was great (during a time when places are struggling to find help)! Had the Cobb Salad and it was one of the best that I have ever had.

Our server/ bartender was great! He was informative and funny. Ordered the Italian Stallion burger and was amazed at the presentation and was cooked to perfection. No time for pictures - I just dove right in.

I've heard Maxfields was a great restaurant to check out when in Potsdam; the reports I heard are accurate. We went on a Saturday evening, without a reservation, and they were able to accommodate us. Unfortunately we couldn't get a table in their nice dining room, but that was on us. I would recommend calling ahead for a table, next time we will for sure. So we sat in the bar area, which was fine. They offer a nice selection of beverages and their beer list is ample. Our server was polite and friendly and competent. Our entrees were tasty and served to us quickly. We were very satisfied with our meals. Nothing bad to say about Maxfields, it's a charming little place. We would return without hesitation, absolutely recommend. Bon appetit!

Great place right on the water. It was nice being right there with a little bit of a breeze. Food was awesome, a little pricey, but really good food. The wait staff was good also. No complaints at all

Z

I love this place. The atmosphere is great, the views off the back porch are great, and the bartenders are awesome. They have rotating specials, which allows people to try new things and the live bands they bring in are a good addition and don't clash with the ambiance.

S

Cute restaurant with extremely kind staff. We were there about 5 mins before they stopped making food and didn't realize, but they still made it for us and the burgers were incredible.

This restaurant is located downtown in a gorgeous historic building. The food and service was wonderful. We enjoyed our meal on the riverside patio. I would highly recommend this place.

The atmosphere was great. The bar area didn't overpower the dining area and the food was exemplary. The service was outstanding and the servers were professional and attentive.

Had fish and chips special on their deck overlooking the river in Potsdam. Waiter did a good job, called me “Boss”. He didn’t know I’m retired and no one calls me that anymore. Quick service, no reservation early in dinner hour. College girls next to me dropped a lot of F bombs and the word “like”, but that’s normal now. Should have polite conversation only tables?

C

Sitting on the deck at Maxfields in the summer can't be beat! I met some colleagues for lunch and enjoyed a falafel wrap with chips, today. They have a menu with a decent variety of items. I've enjoyed their salads, pasta, burgers and more in the past. Truffle fries are a must have!

A

I love the outdoor seating on the deck, the cocktails are fabulous, the live entertainment is upbeat, the food is definitely delicious but there really are no vegan options without a lot of modification. The prices are reasonable, the service is professional.

M

Great food and service! The place hasn't changed since I worked here way back when! Three restaurant looks as spectacular as it always did. The feature is the bar. It was over 100 years old when it traveled from nyc to potsdam many years ago. Deck seating on the river is also a great feature!

N

Great place to catch a drink after work. A bit more upscale than Duff's. You'll fit in wearing a suit. Prices are super reasonable, decent draft selection Grey Goose Martinis only $6! Ask for Devil's Water, you won't be disappointed.

The service was wonderful! It has a warm cozy atmosphere as well as plentiful seating. That all doesn't even hold a candle to the food. It tastes just as amazing as it looks! I will be coming back!

Had the Ribeye steak. Asked for no potato, and they offered to double up the vegetables. Steak was done exactly as I asked. Soup was super flavorful. Great service. Iced tea was a bit bitter for my taste. Outdoor seating over the river was lovely. Full bar available. If going, plan to be there for at least an hour.

The food is fantastic. Not a huge menu but what they do, they do very well. My favorite dish so far has been the short rib Gorgonzola gnocchi. It's incredible. The outside deck area is very nice. One thing to know is the restaurant gets very hot if it's a warm day. They don't seem to use any AC. Probably not an issue most of the year.

E

Had the short rib gnocchi on the deck. Delicious food and excellent service. Our waiter, Nick F, offered both attentive care and his aroma was quite pleasing. After each encounter, whether he was refilling our water or fetching more bread, Nick’s pleasant musk lingered in the air - a perfect compliment to his great service. Good establishment and I would come again.

I loved this place! My girlfriends and I came for girls night out. We had such a blast. Our waiter, August, was new and great. (We weren't the easiest crowd.) I ordered a flight of beer and crab cakes. They were DELICIOUS. Everything about this place is great.

J

Great place to grab dinner. The only upscale restaurant in Potsdam and one of the few in the area. Interesting food choices and not overpriced. At night it turns into lively bar. Early in the evening it's more reserved but later the crowd is college students. Great selection of beers and ciders both local, domestic, and international. Greta drink specials throughout the week.

A hidden gem in Potsdam! Amazing list of draught beer along with an inspired menu and beautiful presentation. Ahi tuna Nicosie salad, Cajun seafood chowder, and a Meier's Creek Velvet Fog IPA made for an amazing lunch. The modernized rustic atmosphere was impressive!

This restaurant was recommended by a professor from Suny Potsdam. We were very happy with the recommendation. The service was wonderful. My son has tree nut and peanut allergies, and the waiter wrote down all his allergies and spoke with the chef. They made sure that the calamari had no cashews in it. The food was very good. The Greek salad is excellent. The calamari with the chili lime glaze was excellent. My son's entree, the shrimp & lobster with risotto was excellent and so was my entree which was chicken with parsnip puree. We had a wonderful experience at Maxfield.

We love this place! Lexi waited on us and made excellent suggestions. The French Onion Soup and Green Chile Chicken Soup were wonderful. My husband loved the Sweet Spicy Asian Chicken Wings. The well chilled Rose wine special was perfect. Last time we were here we sat on the patio by the river. Rain today meant we ate inside. But it was a great dinner!

We have been here many times. The wait staff is fantastic and the chef made me something because I am vegan and there were few choices on the menu. My dining companions enjoyed their food as well. Most recently for my daughter's graduation we went and they had a small menu but good. I had the apple pecan walnut salad with falafel.

Bartenders are friendly and make a fine drink. The clams linguini special was out of the park, glad to hear it's going on the menu. Not a fan of the high tops pushed to the bar. Such a beautiful bar should be stood/sat at. A remnant of COVID protocols? It disconnects you from other patrons and promotes phone gazing, imo.

P
Phil R

The food was good. The French onion soup was really good but It smells like a bar, maybe it was the 2 dollar bud lights from the night before but it stunk. The table was sticky and in need of washing. A previous review said they are rasist and bigoted but the main bartender is a gay black man who was awesome. I will be going back.

G

A classic place in Potsdam. I like the old timey feel, a throwback to classic bars. Solid beer selection with stouts and of course the IPAs, but a few others in between. For a Monday evening the bar was full early, but the service was good. Had the beef sliders and truffle fries. The food was solid, nothing OMG about it but GOOD. Definitely a fan of the truffle fries. I hadn't been here in about 5 years or so. It was great to see it hadn't changed much and was still a great place for a bite to eat. I was at the bar only so I cannot speak to the dining room. They had a few tables going, but not busy. I know the college crowd comes in later in the evening so the bar picks up late if that's what your looking for.

Wait was quite long (took over an hour for us to get our food), but thankfully we were not in a hurry. Enjoyed the ability to sit and relax with my family. Burgers were OUTSTANDING. Best I've had in a long time.

E

Exceptional ambiance, inside and on the back patio overlooking the river. Victorian architecture and shabby chic deconstructed brick interior with massive windows and plants galore. The food is refreshingly different... variations on typical fare for places of its kind. Priced fairly.

H
Heidi Cook

Location is lovely, drink menu is extensive and the food is generally good, but sometimes a bit boring/lackluster. For example, the Cobb salad came without egg- it was delicious, but really strange to be missing such a key ingredient, and it felt like they didn't try very hard.

D
Donna Keegan

Food was great tonight. Too bad the staff was somewhat inattentive. The hostess was on her phone most of the night.

K
Kimberly M. OConnor

This is a cute place to take your college-aged student for a good meal! The menu is not large, but everything we had was delicious! Their entree prices are fair, and with a glass of wine, will bring your meal to just over $30. Ill come back when in the area again!

M
Michael Marcum

We made reservations for lunch on a Saturday. It was wasn't busy at the time but they were spacing out Customers due to covid guidelines. They were out of several items on the menu but once we ordered the food came in a timely manner and was very good. Prices are average and fair. The staff was very good and pleasant. They offer outside seating which I recommend on a nice day. Pay Maxfields and visit and enjoy.

Maxfields offers a delightful dining experience that checks all the boxes for a great night out. The food was not only delicious but also thoughtfully prepared, with flavors that really stood out. The atmosphere was fun and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Our waitress was super nice, attentive without being overbearing, and added a personal touch that made us feel welcome. The live music was a pleasant surprise, creating a lively yet relaxed vibe that complemented the entire evening. I highly recommend Maxfields for anyone looking for good food and a great time.

J

Went here with a group of 8. Their outdoor back deck overlooks the water. It was quite nice. The food was phenomenal. Considering that they were short staffed and not doing custom temps on the burgers, it was still nice and juicy. The desserts were rich and decadent. The only reason for 4 stars is because one of the items on the menu was ambiguous on its description. Burrata can be a fish or a cheese... One in my party was expecting a bit more protein in their meal, but in this case, it was cheese.

C
Christopher Bogardus

Gives a mature atmosphere. Great place for a romantic date. Our waitress was kind and friendly. She was informed about their menu and was good about communicating when options were not available. Two of the items we ordered were unavailable, but the waitress was quick to provide substitutes. I ordered the cheeseburger sliders and was not impressed with the quality of my sliders. Particularly, some of the bottom bun was soggy. My mothers through highly of her salmon salad. But the overall rating reflects that of the quality of the food. Was more on the expensive side, but this to be expected from this type of restaurant.

Back for a nostalgic visit with friends it was just as good as I remembered 20 years ago. Drinks and apps were delicious! I wish there were a bit more variety for apps but we made it work. Service was quick and done exactly how we asked for rounds of apps. Won't let 20 years go by before we visit again.

Overall we had a great experience at Maxfield's! Our server, Emily, was very nice and attentive. The food tasted great! The one weird thing was the plating. My husband got a steak that was served in a bowl which makes it really hard to cut and manage. Our dessert (a cookie sundae?) was served in a narrow glass, looked almost like a champagne flute (but I don't think it actually was) so the chunks of cookies were kind of buried and the ice cream was hard to get to and melted quickly. The only thing I would have changed about my experience would be that I think they need to be more mindful about the function of how they serve their food... Otherwise, highly recommend!

Good food. average service. Went on a Friday evening, and while they were busy, I was seated immediately. The hostess made sure I had water, but it took nearly 20 minutes for a server to pick up my table. That's good, as I was about to leave. Had the beef and black bean chili (soup special-- very beefy, not very beany, but quite good), the Mediterranean pasta (the leftovers the next day were better than it was fresh-- the flavors had to settle), and the banana toffee cake to go (had with a hot tea at the hotel, and THIS CAKE is why you need to go to Maxfields!). There are lots of eating options downtown, and I can't say I regret my choice (esp. since it was right across the street from the hotel on a rainy cold night), but I was literally getting my things together to leave when a server asked me if I'd been helped. Might want to ask your hostess if the table is actually assigned to a server if you have a problem with waiting.

L
Lisa Kennedy

Service was okay, but the food wasn't very good. The seafood linguine had overcooked shrimp and didn't have the garlic butter wine sauce that's noted in the menu (they bring a little ramekin melted butter with oregano, but that does not work from a taste perspective). The bread came out warm, which was nice. The au jus that came with the short rib was very salty - it's masked by the mashed potatoes, but was a bit much. Decor is old and there's an odd step in the entryway without any signage that is just an accident waiting to happen.

J
Josh Flack

food was great, pricing left me at an expectation level of slightly better presentation, and control of quality I found at to be below par for the price. atmosphere and pricing indicates a level of fine dining, which was also lacking, majorily due to the closeness, and inadequacy, of separating bar crowd from dining crowd, and the bar was very routey. selection of draft beers was very disappointing, catering solely to a bar crowd of younger palates of cheap light beers, cocktails were fairly well made.

F
Frank

This place is more upscale than the surrounding bars in the downtown area - no problem wearing a suit and tie after coming from a formal event. Ok place to have a beer and chat with friends...but only on a non-busy night due to the fact that it can get loud. Never really bothered with eating here on a regular basis, maybe once or twice - better places in the village for food. That being said, during the summer, there is a nice spot to sit outside and eat overlooking the river.

H
Humphrey Tyler

This is a bar & restaurant in a college town, so expect a noisy boisterous atmosphere with an emphasis on the booze and less attention to the quality of the food. Both my French onion soup and hamburger were microwaved and barely edible. The servers were friendly and hardworking, but it was noisy and the Friday night happy hour band was, well, loud and mediocre.

M
Miyo Wratten

I've been to Maxfields several times over the years and have always found their food, service and atmosphere to be really nice. Being vegetarian, it was nice to have a place like this that offered vegetarian-friendly options for main dishes. On our most recent visit, though, I was very disappointed to find that they made menu changes that removed vegetarian options. I made do with some appetizers, but it never feels great to "make do" when you go out for what you are hoping will be a nice dining experience. I was surprised and disappointed, and knowing this, I unfortunately won't be back unless I hear that the vegetarian-friendly options are back. Such a shame, especially in a college town where I'm sure there are plenty of others who also look for meat-free options.

Nice place with lots of potential. Food fell a little short of our expectations and the service was friendly but sparse.

T
Team Polska79

Our server did a great job. The food came out in a reasonable time as well. I liked the choices on the menu and the food was well cooked. However, the chicken and potato dish I ordered had so much caper brine in it that it was burning my tongue. Just a suggestion: use smaller capers not the big fat ones. It was too salty and potent and offensive to the palette. The Guinness cake we ordered was delicious but the cream on the side had salt in it and made the whole dessert too salty; maybe use sugar to sweeten the cream and create a nice balance with that salt on the Guinness cake and it will be perfect.

The steelhead trout was very good. The vegetables and potatoes however were too underdone and I love al dente veggies. We were also crammed onto the patio like sardines and the bussers were hitting my chair trying to clear the table behind me. And the music was insanely repetitive and LOUD. Basically the food is pretty good but ambiance needs a lot of work

Maria Elena Velardi
Maria Elena Velardi

The restaurant is average food, but good location and great terrace on the river to eat outdoors. Every time we go there something is not available from the menu (drinks or food) so maybe they should consider reducing it and rotating items. I had a Nicoise salad with very raw tuna(just a sliver browning at the edges, but I was hungry and I ate it anyway). Dressing very bland and little -I had to ask for additional oil, but the worst were the raw green beans! Never in my life I have been offered raw green beans in any form. They need to be at least blanched. The only good dish seems to be the wings.

The place to be if you like high class food with a scent of piss and beer. We went for graduation weekend and... They overbooked. What do I mean by this? They literally crammed as many tables as they could into one room. We ate off of a card table and the floor was so shaky (could have been age, could have been max capacity,) either way, I thought the building was going to collapse. We were placed by a wall that smelled as though someone had wet themselves and then poured 3 pitchers of beer on the carpet. Not exactly what you want to smell when eating dinner. With all that said, this was the best meal I had in town that weekend. My guests got the blue burger, salmon, western salad and chicken. I got the pear salad - YUM!!! Disappointed that they said they were only cooking medium burgers that day and medium rare prime rib. Could've made more money that day off of me if they were actually willing to cook the prime rib more to my liking.

M

This place is over priced for the quality of food received. It's loud and slow service. We'd been better off at burrito Bob's.

D
Daniel Curtin

The hostess put us at a lovely table for two on the deck over the river. Gorgeous! The martinis were splendid. My beloved enjoyed her combination of seafood and pasts. My steak and the accompanying mashed potatoes should have been discarded in the trash. The meat was tough and medium well,(I had ordered medium rare.), and I am absolutely certain the potatoes were left from the previous night. Their chef,in my book rates a two,. The food was cooked. The place is lovely and a great place for a drink.

S
Steve Grandstaff

Food was average at best. Ordered halibut with some sort of relish on top and rice. Fish was slightly overdone and the relish was really salty. My wife got sliders and fries. The fries were funky.....a lot of burnt and green potatoes plus they were soggy. First time in Potsdam, last time here.

C

Too expensive and the food was at the greatest so I don’t recommend going

T

For an upscale restaurant, Maxfields left a lot to be desired. Wait staff were friendly, but very unattentive. They were often missing and never asked if everything was alright. But maybe that was purposeful because they knew the answer would be 'no'. We had overcooked salmon and a 'seafood' linguine that had 2 shrimp and no sauce. The noodles were completely dry. At $25+ per entree, I expect food that's cooked correctly and at least has some flavour. The only saving grace is the beers weren't overpriced. But, if you want more than beer, don't expect much.

C
Cosmic Kitty

This has always been our go-to when in town. However, this time it was not good. My uncle and I both ordered burgers and fries. The server gave us the wrong plates and we were halfway through by the time we discovered I had his medium and he had my medium-rare. The burgers were flavorless, zero salt or seasoning, and very, very dry. The fries were ice cold, and flavorless, kinda like sticks of cardboard. The server did not check on us, or refill drinks. The place only had about 3 other tables, almost empty, so that wasn't a factor. I hope it was just an "off" day! If that was my first time there, I wouldn't go back.

T
Teresa Fidler

Not as good as it's been in the past. Kind of disappointed. Our server seated us, (reeked of cigarette smoke) brought us water but then didn't come back for our drink order for quite some time. I asked for my burger med-well and it was so well done it was crispy and dry. My husband's salad was brought out with no dressing so I had to get up, find our server and ask for it. We were there on a Wednesday early afternoon, and there were no other patrons.

Really wanted to love this place! I hate leaving bad reviews but I see so much opportunity here for betterment so, might as well explain: Pros: setting is gorgeous. Interior and attention to detail. Definitely come for the river view and drinks or live music at the bar the French onion soup was very good and sour beer. Cons: service, food. servers were very odd and just.. confused. no hostess so we self sat then she came to ask us to move which we were doing then she said “well you can stay here if you prefer” lol of course we prefer — also food was not split on two plates as requested and when pointed out to busser they just shrugged - and seafood fettuccine was not tasty and worse, there was one shrimp and one small piece of lobster. they also said it was large enough for two and although that’s subjective it was very small. the prices are very high and the quality isn’t on par with the prices.

The service here is great, nice atmosphere, lots of local events, good beer selection. But the food is just not good. This is the place you go for a drink, but I would skip the dinner. It's expensive and you will be disappointed.

Chicken was raw. Deck is really nice but don't sit near the kitchen exhaust - very noisy.

Food: Menu is extremely limited and skewed toward higher end fare. That would be fine, except the food quality does not match the price. Ex: Steak frites came in a bowl soaking in an inch of liquid. Also, we showed up on a Thursday night and probably 25% of the menu was unavailable ... No burgers, no fish and chips, several salads unavailable. Drinks: Bartender is good, cocktails are reasonably priced. Staff: Overall very good. They did their best to handle the extraordinary bad food situation Its a shame that this place continues to backslide. I used to go weekly. I don't think I will ever go back. I think that management needs to hit reset on the menu.

The little waitress with the bobbed dirty blonde hair could use a lesson in manners and common courtesy. I have waited 24 years to go there for dinner. It was disappointing to say the least. When we advised the waitress of a few issues, she did nothing about it. We will never go back. The waitress name was Britney.

Went out with a group on a Saturday night. We had reservations, however it took up about 45 minutes to get to our final seat after much shuffling. An hour for drink orders, and the water did not come after being requested. One table got bread, and our table had to ask for it, from a different waiter because ours did not come by between saying he would bring water (and not doing so) and bringing out our food. It was also someone else who brought us water eventually, and thankfully someone also noticed we needed a refill. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Boss Burger, medium rare. They were both overcooked, with an insultingly small amount of bacon. We upgraded to truffle fries which were the only redeeming part of the evening. We won't be returning.

I've been here several times, but the most recent was the most disappointing. I ordered the Cobb salad, with no olives and feta instead of blue cheese. Besides the fact that the egg came out simply cut in half instead of sliced, there was no cheese, and the chicken was grossly overcooked and whole, it came out fine, but it had a hair in it. So I sent it back and asked for it to be remade and packaged to go, as the others that I was eating with would be finished by the time it came out. I got the second salad, took it home, and opened it to find an absurd amount of olives for such a small salad and blue cheese. This time at least the egg was sliced properly. The salad was fully contaminated with olive juice and I couldn't eat it. I was charged the full $15 for this disaster. Im extremely disappointed and won't be returning.

The food is not that good, and they have a problem with flies. I've eaten there twice, and each time I've been given a laundry list of what's not available on the menu. The wait staff are descent. They need to beff up their customer service to get a nice tip. Sitting through a whole meal with one glass of water is not cutting it!

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had except for our waiter who was awesome , Matt. 1st nobody approached our table for 20 minutes , then Matt came by, And it looked like it would be better, we ordered food and then 45 minutes goes by and we were told no pasta for my sons meal , linguine seafood , then he switched to ravioli lobster , then 25 minutes later they burnt my wife’s chicken meal and my meal never came out What a disaster of an experience their excuse it’s graduation weekend it’s only Thursday

First review - The atmosphere seemed inviting and quaint. That being said, the wait staff although I’m assuming efficient, was extremely annoying in running around the dining room chaotically and my son having an aisle seat was knocked into several times. The hostess at one point led a large group of people to their table behind my seat. Visually she could see there was no room behind my chair and the next table, but that didn’t stop her from barging through. She said, “excuse me” and pushed herself behind me to get through. I replied, “ I have no where to move”. Why couldn’t she simply walk around with her group of people in a professional manner without disturbing us. She was not attentive to anyone and that didn’t seem to keep her from squeezing her body right into me! Despite this we ordered drinks, however I was told there was no more ginger beer for a Moscow mule. Really? This was early in the evening. Next we ordered bruschetta as an appetizer and was told there was no more pesto. We ordered burgers and salad which literally took forever. By the time the food came out, my medium burger was charred and if I wasn’t so hungry, I probably wouldn’t have eaten it. The portion size was not huge either - there was not many fries that came with it. The staff was not attentive at all considering the wait was so long. By the time we got our check, the waiter disappeared and we had to call over someone else to take our money. If you just want a few beers at the bar, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, but if you’re looking for a good meal In the dining room side, go elsewhere The service as I said before, clearly didn’t justify the prices either. We were excited to try this place but what a disappointment. Management, you have a lot to work on! Second review - We needed to stay in the area so my husband and I decided to give Maxfields one more shot. This was about 4 months after the first visit so we were interested to see if anything changed. Sadly, this was not the case. The service was so incredibly bad. The waiters were focused on the outdoor seating and the main room completely ignored. Other people in the main room were looking around like we were; wondering where is our waiter? He finally came, took our order and that was the last I saw of him. I asked 3 different people including the hostess, for a basket of bread and it never came! If I have to ask 3 times for anything, you really don’t even deserve one star. My husband had to ask twice for another glass of wine. It was NOT a busy time so why the lack of service? The waiter was laughing outside with other waitresses the whole night, and never came back again. Someone else brought our food - no bread and never asked if we needed anything. The bar was upbeat and crowded but we managed to get a seat. How does a bar like this serve a Moscow mule in a glass instead of the standard chilled mug and the reason being - “the kitchen staff took home the mugs?!” The woman next to me complained that her wine was in a little cup, not a wine glass? So I guess if you want a standard beer you’re safe but don’t order anything else, you may be disappointed. Btw, a word to management, the waiter from dinner apparently now off his shift came over to the bar, hit a key or two on the register and grabbed a couple of drinks for himself and friends. If I were management, here’s why you’ll be losing money!

I love this place but they just lost their main selling point for Monday night. They had $1 pbrs and now it’s $2, doesn’t roll off the tongue anymore. Not interested in going on Mondays anymore. Hope this gets changed back. I even heard they have been selling it for $1 for 20 years. Bad day to be a beer

The live music on a Tuesday night was mind numbingly loud, could barely hear my dining companions. Steak was of poor quality, overcooked, and seasoned with the most baffling, unusual mix of flavors. Mashed potatoes were worse than instant. On the bright side, vegetables were good and the service was top notch, minus the excruciating wait for food.

Highly overpriced. Mediocre food, slow service. Bartenders are rude and will ignore customers. The best part of this restaurant is there is a small deck outback. I recommend going to Cactus Grills rooftop if you're looking to enjoy drinks/apps outside during the summertime.

Very, very disappointing in menu, food and service. Came to have dinner today 5/14/2022. No wait time for my 5pm dinner reservations. Menu was LIMITED because they had graduation parties. Really? Could have posted that info prior or just closed for private events at least. My girlfriend and I had the burger we both asked for medium-rare and received well because they could not so any other way due to parties. No flavor, overdone, dry, frozen and precooked meat. Service 👎. Calamari was frozen and just reheated. Mcdonalds burgers would’ve been better option and for less. Definitely will never return. Sometimes reviews are accurate but was hoping they were wrong. Guess not! 👎👎

I wonder if the food is any good. We were seated, we waited for over 20 minutes while the waiters avoided eye contact (the place wasn't particularly busy), we left. The bagels we had next door were delicious!

A group of 9 of us came to Maxfields for dinner around 5pm. The establishment was empty when we got here other than the people in the bar, and the service was definitely lacking. Not only was the service lacking, but by the time the waiter came back to take our food order (~30 min after we ordered apps and drinks), the place had filled up. The orders were rather simple - burgers, fish fry, and a couple apps (soup and squash), but it took over an hour for us to get our food. Our server reassured us the food was coming, but it still was taking forever even after the first group of us got our burgers. We all ordered our burgers medium and they were more rare/medium rare than anything. Edited to add: “we ordered chicken wings, too, and they were completely forgotten about. They had to remove them from our check.” Drinks even took forever to come out which is fair considering the bar was full. Overall; I would not recommend maxfields. Aside from the food issue, none of the bathrooms were equipped properly with toilet paper nor paper towels, which is more than likely a health code violation. :) Enjoy if you decide to go, but know what you’re getting into with a large party!

Food was extra expensive and menu was interesting, but food was quite awful... Truffle Fries in both meals were stone cold and old, when we asked for fresh fries they microwaved our entire meal so steak was well done and old fries warmed up and on top of it all waitress has charged us for extra truffle fries, we will not be returning there any time soon... But live music was lovely so cheers to that.. the rest is to be forgotten...super expensive and below expectations..
