I recently dined at Layla and had an incredible experience! The food was absolutely fantastic, with options to suit every dietary need, including being Celiac friendly. The staff was wonderful, creating a welcoming atmosphere with their great service and friendly demeanor. The vibe of the restaurant was awesome, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Highly recommend!
Excellent restaurant. Tons of vegan and gluten free options. My husband is a self proclaimed chilaquiles connoisseur and this is the best he’s had on the Caribbean side of Mexico ;) fruit bowl was so fresh and yummy. Eggs Benny was rich and delicious too! Frittata can’t be beat! Our favorite restaurant in PM. Servers were wonderful. We’ll be back on the regular. 10/10 ***** highly recommend
Such a delight. Service and food were beyond incredible. Food was so fresh and freshly made. Staff there were so nice. Filling food. Great value. Didn't have room for the desserts we wanted to try. See JJ's episode covering this place: https://youtu.be/b6MSH1LlAhs?si=1dvE8cGtQCT2nD5o
Not a single resort in the area can compete with the quality of food at Layla Restaurant. This place is straight up magic and I would eat here every day if I could. The food tastes perfect, the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing, and the staff are amazingly friendly. Anyone even remotely near Puerto Morelos needs to do themselves a favor and treat themselves to a meal at Layla.
I am not easily impressed when it comes to my food. With that said my dinner was amazing, both flavors and presentation! The customer service was great, I believe Ray was my servers name. Everything on the menu sounded good so I look forward to trying other dishes. Great to find another amazing vegan restaurant in PM. The hummus was offered before my meal and it was very tasty as well as the peanut butter nice cream- i font like peanut butter flavored things for the most part so if you do you will Love It 😂, great texture and reminded me of a PB cookie flavor. Anyway give Layla a try! 5 stars all around.
Were been to most restaurants on the Beach side over the years and missed thus one somehow. It is two blocks South of the Supermarket. WONDERFUL food. Very fresh ingredients. Vegan specials. Not to miss if you are particular with your diet. Great service! Very comfortable atmosphere. We will return for an evening meal as well. Heard Great things about the pizza.
Searching for a place more creative than the 4 vegan options found at our resort and to our surprise - found this gem in Puerto Morelos. We were pleased to find that everything on the menu is vegan with variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Would recommend - Great service and friendly atmosphere. We will definitely come here again the next time we pass through.
I was only in town for 2 days, but I still managed to eat here four times. Amazing pizza … couldn’t get enough. Last night I got a pizza for dinner and then for dessert 😂 and I got some food for the plane tomorrow too. Also loved Ray, he was helpful, friendly, and gave us lovely service. Ate here with 2 other friends and we all loved it. Was not worth it to eat anywhere else! Thank you for a great experience
The most delicious guacamole and flax seed gluten-free bread on the planet! The watermelon juice with mint is perfect 🥰 All made from scratch while you wait. The service is simply superb. So glad we found this little slice of heaven before we left. And thank you for the techno house music. Totally amazing.
After trying almost the entire menu, I can honestly say that everything here is absolutely delicious. Maybe it’s the house cheese, maybe it’s the sauces they give you ots or maybe it was the Mexican cookie crust on their cheesecake or the friendly faces that greet you at the door…. Either way something kept us coming back for more and more and it was better each time! They even let you do half and half pies so you can try them all. 1 pizza was perfect for 2 people, but best believe we also tried the rainbow tofu 🌈 and parmigiana berenjenas 🍆 and that cheesecake was to die for!! Can’t wait to come back!! Oh yeah- cheese and spinach empanada for the winnnnn! Dang I love this place.
Yum! We had the frittata, superbowl, frecklicious and pink soda. We are neither veggie nor vegan, just loved the look of the menu, so have this tucked away spot a whirl. So glad we did. Frittata was outstanding. By far the best breakfast I've had in Puerto Morelos. The only down side was it had a generous helping of garlic, which was less popular as I was the only one who ate that, so the others in our party requested I stay down wind of them for the rest of the day. Superbowl was VERY fruit forward. As you can see in the pictures the yogurt was more of an accompaniment. Both drinks were well balanced and flavorful. Vibe was really relaxed, staff were friendly and attentive. We enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner (they switch to Layla Vegan Pizza).
This review is long overdue. But my feelings about this place are so strong that it doesn't even matter because to me it almost feels like I was there last week! <3 I don't even know where to start!? The food, the friends, the atmosphere... this place is full of some of the best in Puerto Morelos. Let's just go in order of mention- so the food. I cannot speak to the "traditional" menu (that I honestly hope sees its way out permanently lol) because it's not vegan. I can however speak to just about everything that is on their awesome vegan menu! My mouth is starting to water thinking about it now... in a nutshell, I'd call it elevated comfort food; think empanadas, pizza, pasta and a few very tasty desserts. OMG the pasta dish I had... drool... Quentin Sorrentino- gluten free ravioli, I did have it more than once in fact, in addition to multiple empanadas and more than my fair share of pizza. Everything is scratch made, fresh- like I watched my empanadas being stuffed for my order, right there! Everything I ate left me feeling satisfied and full without that gross heavy feeling that usually accompanies indulgent food. This place however has struck that balance between comfort satisfaction and healthy without a doubt. Oh, and I even brought empanadas back to Chicago with me. I had to! The friends now... this means everyone in the place! Staff did their jobs accordingly- and are all very good at what they each do, their care and passion are visible, but they treat you like a friend from the moment you arrive which is what stands out. Being a single vacationer/diner, I found it easy to feel at home here and made plenty of friends between the staff and other patrons. Which of course takes us to the atmosphere... it's built on the familial friendliness of all the people that make up Layla's which makes it all of what I just said and more. The space itself is pretty great; open air, unique boutique hotel above, near the beach... but again, it is the people and what they bring. They host different types of evenings, one being karaoke nights with Jaden Cornelius, so fun! My face hurt from smiling so much and I hadn't laughed so hard in so long thanks to the wildly entertaining and engaging spirit of child like abandon and play. Might sound corny- but really, I often left there feeling like a little kid who just had the best play date ever with my friends. This place should definitely not be missed!
Delicious Napoli style vegan pizza in a nice cozy spot just off the main square. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and curious about our experience, which I always appreciate. Going here before Tulum was maybe a mistake, because I imagine this sort of place and experience is what Tulum *used to* be like?! The pizza was flavorful from dough through sauce and toppings. I took a bit of a risk with the pink cream but did enjoy it. Couldn’t resist a creative pie. The hummus is delicious too! Definitely come through here if you are nearby. I hope to return soon to try more of the menu!
We ate there twice once for brunch and dinner and I thought the lady was called Layla but it actually means something as I heard a man discussing it but I think the lay was for the sleeping in the guesthouse but I couldn’t hear the rest. The brunch was very tasty. Dave had a very tasty frittata and I can’t remember what I had. For dinner I had a mushroom stew with mash potatoes but sadly it was made with soya sauce so it was very salty and overpowering flavour and I am not a fan of that taste and I don’t put much salt on my food. The free extras were really tasty because they use organic and I love organic carrots and the dip wasn’t guacamole like we thought but broccoli. It was expensive but it was organic food. The juices were tasty. I had a warm drink in the evening and because the spiciness was overwhelming I asked for more warm milk, for no extra cost. The guy in the evening was friendly and chatty guy. Which was lovely. Good food but expensive.
