Well presented plates and good flavours. The staff were friendly and served the tables well. A nice place to spend some time of an evening. In the summer even better eating outside by the river. 2 split level dining area and comfortable pleasant surroundings. The Chardonnay was delicious too.
Absolutely insane quality food. Every course was delicious. Highly recommend the Spiced Rum Daiquiri cocktail. The Salt & Pepper Squid, Scallops cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was great, lovely mood lit venue. Very good service. Would recommend anyone to come atleast once! We will be returning
Lovely atmosphere, great location on the river. I have been 3 times over 7 years and every time the food is of highest quality and totally delicious. Very high quality ingredients and cooking, great service and overall just a lovely restaurant. Desserts all sound amazing
Such a lovely restaurant with amazing staff. We went for a birthday meal and were given their home made fudge free of charge. The vegan option was incredible
London Street Brasserie what an absoltue gem of a place to go an dine, I have booked to dine in for lunch 2 days in advance in case if it is full. From the time entering to the time leaving the staff was absolutely brilliant they made sure we had a pleasant time, the staff looked after us very well. Getting on to the food, I was very surprised with all the elements from the serving to the presentation to the taste each element were outstanding, you can see the below pictures. I can say more than why I have not visited this place before. I would recommend anyone to go there to have a nice beautiful time. Brilliant selection of wines and other drinks. Thank you to all the staff from reception to the dining to the chef's. Will be visiting back again. Such a beautiful inside calm and the team always smiling which gives a nice vibe to the overall experience.
I would recommend this restaurant, especially for any occasion. We’ve been here for my birthday and we absolutely loved the atmosphere, food and service. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Food was amazing. Even though the prices are a bit high, you’ll get a great food and service. For those who have birthday, they’ll surprise you with a small cake and candle, that was a pleasure and brought additional smile
A nice place with very good food and service. The dessert was homemade, and because of that, I waited a little, but the wait was worth it. I should have ordered two..:)))
On my way to a lunch bowl of ramen, I spotted a menu which hooked me right away with the words ‘Cornish Cuttlefish’ I was in the mood for some calves liver too so popped in and was seated right away on a lovely patio balcony overlooking the river. The salad did not disappoint, not chewy seafood, citrusy watercress & green beans with diced fresh pineapple and some excellent tomatoes. The liver dish was absolutely perfectly cooked, the bacon and roast shallots in a pool of excellent demi which I scraped up with my fork to avoid licking the plate! I left the random pea shoots and wished for more chopped parsley. Nice lemon tart & espresso to finish. Definitely coming back! UPDATE: came back and had another wonderful experience! Servers José & Maria really made our visit. Food descriptions on photos, really nice South African Stellenbosch Albariño, outstanding gluten free fresh soft-shell crab tempura, but the Parma ham-wrapped monkfish was so flavourful and perfectly cooked. This place knows its stuff. £130 with drinks & service.
Wow what a find in Reading, here meeting long lost friends we found LSB. Warm greeting, accommodated us with no reservations. Fantastic wine list, olives and bread is a must. Heart and soul is pictured, this was perfection on a plate. It touched every taste receptor. Paired with the Reserva Riojo was amazing. Mussels were plump and cooked to perfection with a white wine sauce. Highly recommend this gem in Reading.
It was our first time and it will not be our last. From the time we were shown to our table this experience was divine because of the food , atmosphere and service and that was Harriet who made the evening a wonderful Birthday celebration. I had the London Street Brasserie Lobster & Prawn Cocktail. It was by far the best prawn cocktail I have ever had. I loved the addition of avocado which took it to another level. My main was a Seared Bream Fillet , Grilled Octopus. It was accompanied with Isle of Wight Tomatoes , Asparagus , Saute Jersey Royals Avocado Purée. Every element of the dish was perfect and complimented each other. This plate of perfection was on a level named sublime and I finished on a Key Lime Meringue with a Margarita Sorbet. When I ordered this Harriet had mentioned this was her favourite and after I had finished I knew why. It was light , refreshing and the flavours were out of this world. When I return I would easily have all of this again. You have not lived an exciting life until you experienced this amazing restaurant for yourself. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who reads this
A place with a lovely ambiance. We were offered a table in a secluded corner which allowed us to enjoy each other’s and our son’s company to the fullest. Food was amazing and waitresses were so kind and approachable. I wasn’t surprised to find out they got a Michelin star. Well-deserved, keep it up 👍🏻
Not only was the food delicious, but also the staff working there was very friendly and helpful! They let me keep the bike in a safe space and everyone who came to serve us was lovely. Because I’ve celebrated my birthday I even got a surprise present! It was a very nice evening, so I recommend them 100%!
Wonderful brasserie with amazing food. The black pudding for starters was the best I've ever had, with the nuts and the salad pairing beautifully. The Sunday roast was top notch, and as good as anything you would get in a good gastropub. Duck leg is often neglected, but this Asian style duck with papaya was very nice, and reminiscent of Vietnamese flavours. The fish and chips were also of excellent quality, as well as the desserts which were amazing. The portions are very large, and the set menu is incredible value. Will definitely be back!
The food was absolutely fantastic, easily the best meal we've ever had in Reading. We made a reservation in the morning for that evening and they were able to accommodate us which was great. It's on the more expensive side, especially if you have alcohol with your meal, but it's one of those places that's actually worth the price. The portion sizes are great, not too small or big, and service is quick.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Very highly recommended and will definitely be returning
We had a large group (24) celebration dinner here and the team at London Street Brasserie were great from when we were enquiring and booking to serving on the day and even learning some of our names by the end! Food was of high quality and everyone has remarked on how nice it was. There were also plenty of options for those with dietary requirements. Sorry I don't know the names of who served us but it was truly a lovely evening, would highly recommend :)
London Street Brasserie located on the riverside at The Oracle is one of my favourite places to eat. It’s a special treat so I don’t go often but I have never been disappointed. The venue itself oozes class and is a relaxed chic? environment spread across a couple of floors and outside on the riverside terrace. Tables are spaced apart well giving you a bit of my space privacy for your date or dining companions. The menu offers good choices across meat, poultry, game, fish and vegan. The wine list is impressive and you probably can’t buy a bad wine. Prices are inline with this though so choose wisely. The staff are very professional, polite, friendly and attentive. Tip: if you are going to have a starter and a main (and perhaps desert) don’t get the bread appetiser. Don’t get me wrong, the artesian bread is fresh, warm and delicious but there is a lot of it. Not a bad thing in itself but if you fill up on bread you will struggle with your main! The starter and main portion sizes are deceptive. Don’t fill up in bread! Also, maybe don’t buy two bottles of wine straight from the off. My date and I struggled to finish our bottle of red and white respectively (though to be fair she did a better job putting it away than I did!). Love this place and totally recommend it. Excellent place to take your date, your partner or your spouse. Also for a couples treat you can’t go wrong. Pricier than most local competition but as a treat: so worth it.
Lovely meal out Christmas set menu
We took advantage of the ‘Graduation Menu’ to enjoy delicious food. One of my favourite haunts in Berkshire. Should not be missed as a treat.
An excellent place with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Have been here plenty of times, the food and service is consistently very good. The menu is varied and changes frequently. They have a good selection of drinks and a decent wine list. The place itself is spread over a few rooms and over two floors. It makes it feel more cosy and intimate. This is almost certainly the best restaurant in Reading at the moment. Will continue to revisit and eat here.
Really good experience, we got seated in a lovely place for my girlfriend’s birthday when we asked, and the attention to service was amazing which we can thank Simon for. The food was amazing, starters tasted amazing and the portion sizing was perfect. Surprisingly you would think portion sizes would be small as most places that are pricy make them small but here it is quite the opposite, the plates were huge and tasted amazing. Would 100% recommend
Not only were the food, location and atmosphere great; TK elevated everything nice with his great energy, fun remarks and lovely, honest service. We enjoyed our Sunday roasts (chicken, beef) and pork belly.. everything was on point!
Had the most delicious lunch yesterday. We were taken here by some friends who live locally and what a treat it was. We sat outside at the edge of the canal and enjoyed the most fabulous meal, along with the sunshine! I can honestly say I can’t remember when I last enjoyed a meal like this. The menu is extensive and it was difficult to make a choice, but between the four of us, all our dishes looked and tasted amazing! Well done to all concerned, especially Chef! It was great!
My now wife and I chose LSB to celebrate our wedding reception and we could not have been happier! Jason and the team made sure our special day went flawlessly and truly was the most beautiful day of our lives! The service was 12/10! The food was 12/10! The attention to detail was incredible. They knew the seating plan and which guest had which dish, they accommodated our request for gaps in between courses and they just genuinely provided the most incredible experience anybody could wish! The venue is beautiful and honestly I can’t recommend them enough! I would give 6stars if I could. We will definitely be coming back!
Chose the London Street brasserie to celebrate our anniversary a great atmosphere we had three courses the starters were great. The main course outstanding, particularly the lamb which I can.recommend overall a very good experience and when I would recommend
Great service and food. The breads and olives for starters are probably worth the visit on their own. Main courses of venison, for my wife, and pork belly for myself were superb. The staff were excellent and the room and atmosphere was just right.
I had a lunch in this lovely brasserie serving British cuisine with Mediterranean influences. The octopus was grilled perfectly, absolutely delicious! My fish and chips cod was also delicious, not too heavy. My girlfriend had a fish cake and a veggie Sunday Roast, which she enjoyed. Quite big portions, that's why we didn't order dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. One of the best restaurants in Reading! Well done team!
Have been here tonight for dinner. Food was absolutely lovely, great quality. All the staff is excellent, caring and very professional. The food is very well prepared and it's a pleasure for eyes and taste! Highly recommend. Will be back asap
What an absolute delight. The food was spectacular in every way. As a party of six, we managed to try a variety of dishes and every one was wonderfully presented, well portioned and had obviously been cooked and prepared with a great deal of care. I went for the belly pork which was so good, it's managed to get up there into my top 5 of all time. Our server was very attentive, friendly and well informed. Our party included someone with a nut allergy and this was very well catered for too. This place had the intimacy of a small restaurant but it's layout provided plenty of tables. You will need to book as this is a very popular place to eat. Highly recommend.
Modern British cuisine with global touches and ingredients is served at this chic restaurant in Reading. Two dining areas: one informal pub style and another one elegant-dark modern room. All the dishes are expertly executed. We particularly enjoyed the duck starter and the pork belly, which had an outstanding flavour and incredibly crispy skin. Large selection of drinks and appropriate wine list. The only improvement point is part of the service, although attentive and polite, clearly not professional.
Absolutely love this place. It’s been several years since I revisited, but I was glad we did. Lovely seasonal dishes and the service from our waitress “Tilly” was exceptional. Thank you. Will be definitely returning soon. 🥰
Giving 5 stars because of their phenomenal sticky toffee pud! Celebrated husband’s birthday there. We ordered raw oysters, seared scallops and grilled bone marrow to start with. The seafood was very fresh and juicy. The bone marrow was very rich and creamy. For main, we had duck breast and monkfish wrapped in bacon. Both were beautifully cooked. Ought to end a birthday meal on a sweet note so we had crème brûlée and sticky toffee pudding. The sticky toffee pudding had some crunchy biscuits crumbs on it which made the mouthfeel even more pleasant. Rich toffee taste. Very satisfying! Both were absolutely outstanding desserts. Really one of the best restaurants in Reading. Consistent quality. Highly recommended.
Amazing seafood and gem in Reading. Had an amazing dinner here and I'd highly recommend this spot if you're visiting Reading looking for fresh seafood with great service.
Food was delicious, portions were so big and filling even the starters. The Caesar salad was amazingly fresh and filled with sauce. Starters I recommend the venison with the red tomato sauce soo flavourful. Had lamb as main with the Verde sauce very Herby. Overall was great I would do it again😃
Probably haven’t been here for 15 years and I was really looking forward to returning for dinner. We decided to skip a starter and both ordered the venison and haggis main meal with baked leeks, baked beets and chose dauphinoise potatoes to accompany the meal. It is was absolutely delicious, we would have preferred it a little hotter, but the taste and textures were wonderful. I wasn’t so impressed with my Bakewell tart and custard as I couldn’t detect any almond favour (maybe the haggis had overwhelmed my taste buds), but my partner kept making hmmh sounds because he loved his hot chocolate sponge with raspberry ice cream so much. I also found a new red wine to drink, Happy Donkey. Our waitress was absolutely lovely and very attentive.
This place is outstanding. A nice place for a family meal or something a bit more special than normal. A little more expensive than the restaurants on the Oracle front but well worth the extra, food is divine and service is always on point.
Food was amazing and great value, we over ordered on the sides because of the generous portions which is our fault!! Service was amazing and the wine list was beyond reasonable! Will deffo come back. Duck bring a highlight. Special shoutout to Zsolti who was super attentive, funny and warm
Oh yes! Genuinely, properly good. I don't know Reading very well, but I'm pretty sure I already know its best restaurant. I've been in a fair few Michelin starred places over the years, and LSB is as good as many of them. Very, very impressed. One star was knocked off for atmosphere only because we were late walk-ins on a freezing, drizzly February evening. I'll bet any money you like it's a different story when the terrace doors are open onto the river on a summer night. I'm looking forward to trying it. Thank you very much LSB!
We chose this place for a much needed night out where we could relaxed, chat and enjoy a good meal. Absolutely faultless. Ambience and service were brilliant. Both warm welcoming and relaxing. The menu is varied and the food is excellent. Wine list is well matched to the menu. Must. Is it again and will recommend to all.
A group of us celebrated a friend’s 70th birthday yesterday at LSB yesterday. The menu was interesting and varied, with plenty of creative choices for vegetarians in the group. The presentation of the food on the plates was very attractive. Everyone agreed it was a wonderful lunch and we were so impressed by the professional service. Big thank you to Andrea, who was attentive but not obtrusive; she managed the requirements of a large group so smoothly and with such good humour.. I’ve eaten at LSB on many occasions over the years and I highly recommend it especially for celebrations.
An evening out for dinner when visiting Reading. The restaurant was packed on a Friday night but with a friendly service. The food was good and we ordered steak with lobster, deer meat, scallops, and salmon as a side dish, with cider and browny with ice cream. All were delicious.
We have been there with a group of people. It was crouwd and loudly that i could even hear my colleague next to me. The food was great, the dessert a point less: my colleague chose the "tiramisù pannacotta" and i ordered lemon tart. I tried half and half of both. It was a "coffee pannacotta" with a kind of big cantucci. I tried and the pannacotta was very bitter and the cookie (should be savoiardi) with no taste. Instead, the lemon curd tart was really good.
We experienced a train delay before our outing and had to request a last-minute time shift — the team at London Street Brasserie handled it smoothly and moved our arrival time without any fuss. The atmosphere was stylish yet cosy, with bright windows and lovely views over the river. We were warmly welcomed, and our drinks and food were served in perfect timing throughout the meal. I chose the Smoked haddock kedgeree (Indian-spiced basmati rice with scallion, peas & poached bantam egg) as my starter, and then the Jacob’s ladder short rib beef slow braised in Chianti, with lardons, button onions, mushrooms & rosemary-parmesan polenta for my main. Both were beautifully presented and full of flavour, though the beef dish felt a little rich for my taste. The staff were friendly and welcoming, though it would have been nice to be checked on during the meal rather than only at the end when we paid. Still, overall our experience was positive. We weren’t rushed, we had space to relax, and we really enjoyed our outing in such a beautiful setting. I’d happily recommend London Street Brasserie for a lovely meal in Reading.
octopus was good, the vegs no taste and too cold. the orange juice was the worst juice i had as the taste was very bitter, like lemon, i think much acid was added? i had to delute it with much water. the fish was good, potatoes was well cooked but no taste, salt needed. the bday candle was amazing, the chocolate writing " happy birthday" was amazing, too. the ladies toilet crowded, delapidated, one of the worst i have been to as i was worried the lock got stuck, i struggled with opening. the chocolate liquid for pouring over the brownie was not sweet at all, did not taste of chocolate much. the giant mirror was framed by giant wooden boards.
a good place to dine, food is great, nice staff and nice service. The portions vary for different dishes. The liver dish was good, but the fish and the oxtail stew were to the small end, but all was delicious. The toilet was clean and fresh. The issue of a fly 🪰 joining us and a huge mosquito 🦟 too was ruining the atmosphere. While I was entering the place, I saw a plate of ice cream in front of a customer, he looked joyous and plate looked delicious
The food was really good, tasty and well-prepared. However, the service was quite slow, which made the experience a bit less enjoyable. If the service were quicker, it would be perfect.
I had a lunchtime catch up with my mum and went for the lunchtime menu. I had Cullen skink to start which was perfectly comforting and the short rib for main which was phenomenal. The Italian wine on special was fantastic, incredible mouth feel. And the service was impeccable! Heartily recommended
Had dinner there in Sept 2025 with some friends. Overall the meal was OK, but pricey. I had the crispy duck for starters which was OK and then the lamb rump for main course. Hmm, I laughed when I saw the amount of lamb on the plate.... two small lumps for £33+, so I complained. The manager came over, explained to me this was the portion size but did offer to give me some more lamb, which they did. Eton mess for dessert which was good. Service was good but then you're paying 12.5% on top of the bill so this was £50+, so it should be!! I've eaten here many times before and enjoyed it, so do feel let down.
Nice food but dated as it hasn’t evolved in years. The waiter was however very condescending and when we asked how long would take the mains after almost an hour waiting, he said it was normal because we had asked a starter which made no sense to us as we were not counting the time it took the starter. Overall very substandard service.
This used to be my favourite restaurant, and I used to visit at least once a month. But this time I was extremely disappointed with the service. Food is not only about taste — it’s also about service and how you treat people. Today I was celebrating my partner’s birthday and had booked a table for two. The staff completely forgot to acknowledge the birthday, which was surprising. Our table was left dirty after the starters, and we ended up having our whole meal with food bits around us. We waited 15 minutes just to get the dessert menu, and I even had to remind the staff about the birthday booking. Unfortunately, this experience has made me rethink whether this restaurant still deserves a place on my favourites list.
