Great food and service. We came with a large group close to closing time. The hosts were extremely accommodating. We got a couple of family platters. The presntation was great and taste was excellent. Will certainly come again.
We moved to Rochester in the summer and this is the best food we’ve had so far. The staff was very friendly, the portions were huge, and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back, we really enjoyed our experience.
We eat here more often than we should but the food is absolutely amazing! Everything looks and is fabulous but we are completely hooked on the shawarma chicken plates. If you haven't eatin here yet, get in here.
Best shawarma pita I've ever had. The new management is fantastic. The food is extremely fresh and on par with any big city. The homemade pita bread is out of this world.
Popped in for a quick lunch takeout. The chicken shawarma pita was fantastic. Never had a pita like that one. Definitely will go there again.
As a lover of Mediterranean food, I'm obsessed with this place! The hummus tastes amazing. Food is super fresh and light. It's a go to for me on a busy work day. Definitely worth checking out, and the prices are extremely reasonable
I love falafel & Sultan makes a falafel pita that is crazy good. It’s wrapped more like a burrito which makes eating it easier. The pitas are fluffy & because they don’t cut it in half and stuff it, it’s SO much more filling. If pitas aren’t your thing, there is a platter that comes with tabule & a dolmade. The prices are more than reasonable too!
The people are nice and the dinner and lunch they serve is one of the best I've tried, honestly more people should know about this place.
Great up and coming business, got some wings and shepherds pie, the wings had great flavor and really juicy, and the shepherds pie was really crispy and flaky.
Went with my friend. We split the chicken shawarma pita and shish kebab pita, so delicious! Made the one a combo and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. We will definitely be back.
This was my first time here and it was delicious. Fresh pita and hummus. I will be going back.
Sultan is my to-go-to place for quick halal food. Their chicken shawarma pita is the best one I've had in Rochester, and their prices are fairly cheap. The people working there are very nice and I highly recommend trying it.
Usual place for brunch. Their kebabs are really good and the staffs are friendly. We tried kebabs platter each time and worth the price, though pita bread portion can be improved. Sometimes they serves complimentary tea.
Wow! Wonderful food!!! Everything is authentic- Humus is homemade as well as the best Pita bread- very fresh. I haven’t had this great food since my bestie mom cooked meals. Definitely going back... the portions are huge. A platter is enough for 2 people!!! A customer for life....
Such a nice place after the renovation. Always fast and friendly. Food is extremely good and not super expensive. I am loyal to the chicken kebobs, but their bread and sweets are also very good. Try to buy not the wraps, but pitas. Both are very good, but they bake pitas in the place, and this bread is amazing.
Me along with my family had visited the restaurant last weekend .It was late in the evening and almost time for them to close but while we requested they let us in and Dine. The staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. They helped us with their recommendation whole selecting our choice of dishes and all.prived to be super tasty and sumptuous. We are extremely happy and satisfied
Excellent quality and tasty foods. Good service and very pleasant staff
I have only had the Chicken Shawarma but I have had it a few times and everytime it's very very good. The pita is ALWAYS fresh and the chicken is well seasoned. It is also a very good size. The price is very fair for the size and quality. These guys have great reviews for a reason. Inside is a little dated and could use some remodeling. But it's all about the foooood baby!!!!
This is by far the best middle eastern restaurant in the area, in my humble opinion! The food is fresh and really well seasoned. It is not a fancy place but the new owner is very warm and friendly! Even standard fare, like a greek salad is better than other places! It is simply put, fantastic! Ruth
All the food was very good. We had hummus and baba for the table. They give you a good sized portion and plenty of warm pita bread. I also got falafel, which was crispy and fluffy and delicious. My companions got gyro combos (big) and each one came with a mountain of fries. I was told they were very good. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get. The dining room was nicely kept and the service was good also. Definitely one of the best places to get Lebanese/Mediterranean food in Rochester.
Everything About this restaurant was exceptional!! The kindest most helpful man answered all of our questions, we went only to buy baklava for a birthday present and decided to try a wrap and it was also delicious. Such a quick stop turned into such a nice experience!
Super tasty food! And quite a variety.
This is by far my favorite middle eastern place to eat in Rochester. The staff is always friendly. The food is consistently delicious. The restaurant is always clean. Prices are very reasonable. I would easily recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I never write reviews but I had to for this. Ordered last night to go, and honestly it was the best food I have had in a very, very long time! Between the quality of the food and the portion size was great for the price I paid. 100% will be ordering again!
Great Chicken Shawarma! The fries are better than any American restaurant too! The portions are big and the food is great. The owners seem like really nice people too. I keep having great experiences.
I've eaten at Sultan multiple times and it almost always satisfied me. Their chicken shawerma pita is just too good. I believe they changed the recipe but it definitely improved. Also a fan of their lahmajin although they changed the recipe (still a fan, but i preferred the older recipe). Anyhow, Sultan is a gem. The prices are great but most importantly you'll be satisfied with their food.
The food is always spectacular. You can tell they use fresh ingredients full of flavor. Staff is kind, restaurant is always clean. I recommend ordering ahead, though the wait to pick up your food is usually around 15 minutes.
I was BLOWN AWAY by the food here. I live in NYC and am constantly going to new Mediterranean restaurants in search of the best food. This is easily my second favorite comparing 15+ restaurants. The hummus was stellar and the babaganoush was incredible. WOW. I can't wait to be back in town to re-visit! Also, the pickles on the sandwhich were the star. Amazing.
This establishment ranks among my top five destinations. The service is exceptional, the cuisine is outstanding, and the atmosphere is welcoming to families. I consistently enjoy a positive experience here, characterized by prompt service, a sanitary environment, and excellent food.
Amazing middle eastern restaurant so great to have Lebanese food nearby. Their pitas are all phenomenal and I haven’t had a good manakeesh like my Sitti used to make until coming here.
Delicious food! This place deserves to be well known for the quality of their food. The Mashawi plate is where it's at! Nice assortment of grilled meats, delicious smooth hummus, greek salad, chewy pita breads, and the best toum!!! -get extra. Not cheap, but not expensive, a little slow on the wait time, but quality takes time. When you smell the grilled meats on your plate you know it's gonna be good.
Never been there, but I ordered through Uber Eats. I was already stuffed after scarfing down the shwarma plate, but couldn't stop eating the tabouli salad. It's so addicting! I'd like to check out the restaurant in person sometime soon. Update: have gone there, staff is very friendly and the food is still amazing
Wow! The food is fresh and sooo delicious! We ended up ordering more food to go because the food tasted so good. The rice was homemade and seasoned perfectly. The service was fast and friendly. Clean and relaxed environment. Menu's need to explain what items are to make ordering easier. I intended to take photos but we were too busy enjoying the food to take photos! We will be back....I'll take pictures then.
My husband and I ordered takeout tonight and have been customers for years. I cannot tell you how incredible the food is!!! Truly, every bite is phenomenal and the people who work here really care. But seriously 10/10 for taste. Best shawarma plate, tabouli, dolma in town! We’ve never been disappointed!
They just reopened a few weeks ago with new owners.. Still looks the same inside, very clean and the food was GREAT! I got the shawarma plate with rice and the chicken was not dry at all, beef was amazing and pickles were awesome. Hummus was fresh and creamy. Will definitely be going back soon! Staff was very friendly and inviting.
We were in Rochester for Thanksgiving. Ended up at Sultan for a meal and so glad that we did. We're from NJ, and with so many halal options here we are generally not easily impressed. But the Sultan was a great experience. Its a casual restaurant. But their food and service is remarkable! We tried the lamahjun and gyro sandwiches. Everything was fresh and delicious. What truly impressed us was the in house freshly baked pita with our hummus appetizer. The guys handling the restaurant were friendly and accommodating. Would def go if we visit that part of NY again.
My family and I went there for my birthday gathering around 6:30 pm. It wasn’t super busy in the dining area, but it looked like a lot of deliveries going out. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Mashawi plate with tabouli salad. Dinner came with a yogurt-garlic sauce and tahini sauce. Meat, chicken and gyro meat was spiced just right and juicy. Portion was enough to take half home. Other family members got gyro plate and kabob pita. When you hear “Mmmmm!” bite after bite, you know it’s good 😋 Their Baklava is very good
New ownership does not disappoint! Ate the falafel pita I ordered before I could snap a picture. It was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect combination of textures. Staff was helpful and friendly. Definitely going to be in our regular lunch/dinner rotation!
we went to few restaurants in this city and honestly this was the best. Food was delicious and stuff are nice and welcoming.
The food was delicious, ambiance was pleasing and the service was very good. Full range of Mediterranean food
Really friendly and helpful staff helped some of my dining party understand the dishes. When the food came out, everything was perfect. I’m vegan and they were happy to accommodate. I got the manakish, hummus, and a falafel sandwich, all of which came with their house made pita which was amazing.
I went in to just use the restroom; But the service was so great I ended up getting some food and dessert. The shwarma was sooo delicious, and the backlava heavenly. We didnt get judged for being underdressed, overall great service and great food. And restroom smelled beautifully.
One of the best restaurants in town IMHO. The food is delicious and the staff friendly. It's also affordable.
Sultan Cuisine and Bakery offers an exceptional dining experience! The food is delicious, with authentic flavors and a wide variety of options. Their bakery items are fresh and mouthwatering. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. A great place to enjoy a meal and satisfy your cravings for traditional cuisine and baked goods. Highly recommend!
I always order the chicken schwarma combo and baklava. The chicken is always flavorful, fresh pita, and veggies. The food is ready and the staff is always kind and efficient. You have to try this place it is consistently 5 stars!
1st of all, I asked the cashier about a lot of stuff on the menu, and he was so nice and patient with me, which is a +++, because I know I can be annoying. 2nd, the place is so clean, and the soda case looked like it did not have a door, it was so clean. And the cashier let me taste thing before I ordered. This was excellent customer service. And on top of all that, the food is plenty and very good, and we also got fresh bread (which I wasn't expecting), as well. I enjoyed eating One plate would have been enough for me and my husband, but it's OK, we have more for tomorrow!
Great food! Authentic tastes with great portion sizes. I will recommend to others
Our number 1 go to place! Never had a bad meal or a bad experience!! We have brought many people here and they all love it. Highly recommend. Very casual.
They catered our wedding in 2024. We love Sultan. The food is so good/delicious. Homemade bread fresh every time.
My first time trying the Lebanese Cuisine and it swept me off my feet. Huge fan now. LOVED their Fattoush salad, Za’atar, Baba Ganouj! My kids loved the cheese pizza. They ate the whole pizza and wanted more, it was so good. Their Labneh was good as well. Even their lamb was cooked to perfection, without any odor that puts one off. Chicken shawarma had grilled chicken and it tasted so good. Everything we ordered excited our taste buds to the fullest. We have ordered twice from there after dining-in last week. Highly recommended.
1st time there today, just wanted a couple of quick gyros. They were the best gyros I've ever had. Can't wait to eat there again. Service was great, food was awesome 👌
Some of the BEST FOOD I've ever eaten!! The person working at the counter was very helpful, making recommendations and explaining items we didn't recognize. The falafel was crisp on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and spiced to perfection. The pita is made fresh and tastes delicious, as does the hummus. The meat was so flavorful and juicy, I had to restrain myself from making an audible "Mmmm" sound with each bite! The beef kebbe was like the most amazing meatloaf, full of traditional spices, and astoundingly moist and delicious! We will DEFINITELY be back to try more fantastic food very soon!!
Great Halal Restaurant. Priced moderately especially considering that it's a proper Halal restaurant. Food was very delicious. We came here twice in our 4-day stay in Rochester. Both times took different foods. Kebbe Plate Shawarma Plate Kafta kebab rice Plate Gyro Plate. Extrenly tasty Baklava Very refreshing and delicious Tea The plates come with fresh hummus and salads: Greek salad or Tabouli). We enjoyed all the dishes very much. They don't do deliveries, but take orders via grubhub, ubereats Certified Halal, Shariya Halal There are bathrooms for customers
That was the first restaurant we went to when we moved to rochester. It was a nice and cozy place. The staff is friendly and the food is good in taste. Take away catering order: We have placed a large order with chicken and beef gyro, rice, greek salad, hummus, and baba Ganoush. Everything was so good. We thourouly enjoyed our dinner. The quantity was so generous, and they made it ready on time. They re reliable when it comws to large orders.
We catered from Sultan’s for a party. All the guest were amazed by how tasty the food was. The service was amazing when we went to Sultans the order. The chicken was a HIT, the beef was AMAZINGLY cooked. Everything was incredible. We recommended them to our guest as well. Overall, we appreciated the services and the food was exceptional! Thank You! الحمد لل
These guys are good! I ordered a chicken shawarma and it was the best I've ever had, better than NYC Halal food. The portions are huge, and they have a variety of good drinks. Servers are friendly and excellent.
I’ve tried many different Lebanese restaurants in the greater Rochester area and the Sultan is hands down my favorite. Staff are polite and professional, and the food is always delicious, and a solid portion. My boys love the cheese manakeesh, and the chicken shawarma pita is a classic and my go to for a solid lunch!
I loved the lentil soup!!! My sister had a chicken Schwartz sandwich it was very big and the flavor was amazing!!!
Excellennt Middleeastern food to take out or eat at their tables. Frriendly staff. Reasonable prices. GREAT tabouli.
Really chunky pieces of meat that were well-seasoned and tasted great with the hummus. However, some of the pieces tasted/felt a bit undercooked in the middle despite the order taking awhile to be completed. The portions were decently sized.
Loved my first visit and first experience with Lebanese food so much. I can't wait to come back. Every single thing I tried was tasty. The only thing I would change is the meat on the shawarma plate could have been warmer.
The food is great: fresh, hot and tasty. But put on your patience panties whether you’re dining in or getting take-out. As I write this review at 12:50 pm, I am still waiting for takeout that I ordered at 12:07 pm. The one time I’ve dined in, I waited for nearly an hour to get my food.
We love middle-eastern food, and we are new to eating around the Rochester area, so we had to try it. The owner is such a nice guy, we were asking for what he would recommend because we were new there. He made some suggestions and then we started to order, we got to a point and he just stopped us, telling us that if we ordered any more, we would not be able to finish the food. We still barely managed to finish before waddling out. Love the inside atmosphere and how clean it is. The food is not the best of its kind we have had, but definitely worth a visit and a return trip.
At first we loved this place. The shawarma was fantastic and when they get the order right it still is, but lately our order has always been wrong. We've ordered beef shawarma and we consistently keep getting gyro instead. Despite calling the restaurant, my phone number gets screened since I order off my phone (so we call from my husband's phone), it is never rectified but instead we are questioned about whether we know what beef is! Insulting and rude tbh, since my husband is a butcher and we have had the beef shawarma before. I would have given it 5 stars but they have messed up the order far too many times and the response has not been good.
I used to love this restaurant. I still do love the food. But the last time that we visited, the soda fountain was out putting flat room temperature beverages. The food was still good, but I had to go next door to purchase a beverage. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the food is totally worth it. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating, and I do hope to visit again at some point. Hopefully the experience is a little more positive than the last visit. I have been going here for a few years now, and had never had an unpleasant experience prior.
We hadn't been to Sultan's in some time but decided to order delivery for dinner. While the baba ghanoush was deliciously creamy, the chicken on my fattoush salad was hard and dry with an overwhelming cinnamon aftertaste. While waiting for our order, we missed a call from the delivery service saying the restaurant put the dressing on the salad anyway even though we asked them to put it on the side since it would get soggy and I can't eat the whole salad in one sitting. Upon receiving the salad, I noticed some of the cucumber was extra soggy with one piece being extremely mushy. That aside, I did enjoy the flavor of the dressing. The pita bread appears to also be different and less fresh than the last time we visited. Overall, it was an underwhelming and somewhat disappointing experience and am unsure about returning to frequent the restaurant with the inability to do something as simple as leaving dressing on the side for a salad on a delivery order.
I've been to the Sultan many times now. The food is usually very tasty but the service is inconsistent. On some days it is terrific and the food arrives in a timely manner but on others it takes forever. Additionally the hummus appetizer is definitely not worth the price! You get a decent amount of hummus but only one piece of pita that's is cut into four which is disappointing for a $7 appetizer that consist of only hummus and pita. The amount of pita that you get for the appetizer is approximately the same amount that people get with the main dishes - a decent amount for a main dish but a flimsy amount for what should be 1/2 the star of a hummus appetizer.
I honestly didnt like the place at all. It looks like fast food mediteranean. You go to the cashier first where you order and pay (and tip the cashier there too, i dont know why) and then you sit and wait for your food. Nobody brought us knives and forks. You can see napkins dropped on the floor! The pepsi machine is working just for pepsi and diet pepsi. Imagine that the same cashier who is the waitress too, had to fill the pepsi machine with ice herself, and she dropped the whole bucket in this machine. And im pretty sure the bucket is not clean enough to be dropped in there. Aside from all of that, the food is great. It’s really close to the true Mediterranean taste. It’s not expensive and you’re gonna be definitely full before finishing your plate. I wanted to order Lebanese desert, but they were all sold before dinner time (around 7pm).
The Shawarma’s are definitely not better than New York City Shawarma. Very disappointed.
The service was very disappointing — one of the worst experiences I’ve had. After our food was served, we had to ask twice just to get forks and knives. I ordered the sheesh kabab plate, but as shown in the photo, the meat was clearly burnt. This level of service and food quality is unacceptable.
I was sharing my great experience with Lebanese food in London with a friend. I was recommended sultans in mount hope. And that made me a realize how good Ruba was in London in so many different ways. Let’s start with service at sultans. When we entered we were greeted with total indifference. We were challenged on our selections when we took a bit more time even if there wasn’t anyone n the restaurant behind us. The time taken for elementary dishes was long. This wasn’t not just my observation. When we entered someone was complaining how long did it take to get two sandwiches out. And the. When asked for an extra plate to split one of the dishes, I got a flimsy paper plate. Now on to the food. The fattoush was overly acidic …… I think too much vinegar or pomegranate molasses. And had to on a treasure hunt for the pita crisps. And the lettuce was a bit flat. The chicken kabab in pita was good but could have more spices. As a checkout, this experience did the the job at relatively low cost. I will be taking my longing for Lebanese food elsewhere.
The service was very bad. They had a very bad attitude. The food was not good. The owner gave us a different food because we ordered kebab which is ground meat he gave us a peace of meat and he said this is what we call kebab in our country
Nothing like the previous ownership. Inauthentic, terrible food, sloppy presentation, missing food items, low quality ingredients.
