Voula’s is amazing. The name “Greek Sweets” doesn’t do them justice. Yes, they have amazing sweets. Most everything I’ve had there has been vegan. (I’m not) You’d never know the difference if that concerns you. The lunch specials are amazing. Voula herself is always there with a friendly smile and warm service. Do you self the favor of seeking out this local treasure.
I was not very hungry when we went here for lunch so I got the small horiataki salad. It was huge! And delicious! Forced myself to dig deep and find some room. Olives can be hit or miss in the US but these were great. Will definitely be back.
Vegetarian, vegan, omnivore? Whatever you are there choices are delicious!!! Went with a group and everyone loved their choices. I had the french toast -so good! Rosewater syrup is so light and delicious. I had no idea! Love the eclectic dishware and glasses. My guy friends had bachelorette party glasses, hysterical! We will be back.
I used to believe it is was impossible to be perfect...and then there was Voula’s. Every meal is supremely fresh, excellently prepared and insanely delicious. Creativity and passion are behind every single plate of food and it really comes through. If I could eat there every day, I would. Shouts to an amazing restaurant with an incredible staff. Love this place!!!
Voula's is absolutely delicious! I had recently seen people post different brunch items on Instagram and had to go and try it out. I didn't even know that it was right on Monroe Ave, tucked behind the Irish Pub. This is one of my new favorites as they have authentic Greek food, coffee, and desserts! The fact that it's also vegan friendly is an added benefit! (:
Between the staff and the food, this is hands down the best place to eat in Rochester! I’m always shocked that everything I order is vegetarian, because it rivals what I’ve eaten in Greece. Don’t let that deter you, I promise you won’t be disappointed! Love both the souvlaki and gyros, and the lemony potatoes are a MUST! My husband always insists we order a dessert, and none of them have EVER disappointed!
The food is amazing and the restaurant is so cute!
Very lucky to have such a personally invested dining place at affordable price, great food and people
I wish I thought to take pictures before I dove into my meal. It was INCREDIBLE! Went with our new friends who were Vegan and Vegetarian. The options were very greek and varied. We had 5 kids with us. The staff was incredibly gracious. Our kids delighted in their time with each other. Not all meals were kid approved but each kid found something they enjoyed. It's a shame too because the staff was incredibly accommodating and these kids passed up some amazing food. We ended with dessert to go because we were so full from the ginormous portions.
Ordered take out via the Appetit app. I was so excited to try their food after just learning about them. There aren't nearly enough dedicated vegetarian options around. I got the gyro with house made seitan and the spanakopita. 10 out of 10, exceeds expectations, so so so so good! I can't wait to work my way through the whole menu. :-)
Really enjoyed the food and everything about this spot.
This place felt homey and had a great community vibe. That's how you can tell it's really Greek a friend of mine who is Greek said to me. The place is awesome, the food as well. Parking is not the best but they have some.
Very nice vibe. I can imagine they get crowded and busy on weekends so have a plan B ready. I went with my gf and we are both vegan so we had vegan pastries and coffee, both really well done and honestly no complaints about either.
the atmosphere is casual and relaxed but very peaceful and enjoyable. The food is amazing, all made from scratch. my reason for the four star is the portions are very small for everything we ordered. Most concerning was the spanakopita as one of the items we split and we each ended up with a half inch sliver. Very tiny considering we paid 18.00 for that with two sides. on the upside the 2 sides of greek salad and lentil soup were extremely well made and delicious. So in a nutshell, great food, small portions. potatoes and tofu scramble super amazing delicious but small portion.
Loved my sampler plate of Greek food, the Morning Star.
Delightful to find a Greek place with so many vegan options! A large variety of vegan baked goods, many of which I've never seen for sale before. Also a good number of vegan options on the savory menu. Definitely worth a stop in, though the Hummus was unexpectedly the low point of the trip - kind of chunky really. Note that the entrance is difficult to find relative to the Google Maps directions. The door doesn't face the main road, but is around the corner quite a ways. Not difficult exactly, but you might spend time wondering if they moved when they have not.
This place is an absolute gem. Ate here with 2 vegan friends, who said this was some of (if not the best) vegan food they've eaten. My breakfast sandwich with eggs and a spicy feta spread blew me away. The bread is out of this world. And the Greek coffee was perfect. Service was wonderful... Can't wait to go back!
Amazing vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Takeout is easy and fast, eating in is suuuch a vibe. I feel like I'm in old Astoria. Brunch is their best offering. Bring cash!
Everything but especially their lemon potatoes are delicious! Love that this place is in our neighborhood now!
Discovered a hidden gem! This cozy spot is a haven for vegetarians and health-conscious foodies. The menu offers a delightful array of creative and flavorful Greek dishes that cater to dietary needs. But the real showstopper is the baklava - absolutely divine! A must-visit for a satisfying and healthy meal.
Yum! Voula’s is the most amazing place. The food is excellent. You can actually taste the love put into each bite. The fact that it’s vegetarian or vegan makes it even better. Take out is fast and easy, and the dining room is very charming when it’s open. Highly recommend. The lemon potatoes and so very delicious.
When I need a satisfying sweet, this is my go to place. The harder it is to pronounce the tastier the treat!
Absolutely delicious food and baked goods. Food is prepared quickly. They also offer several products from local companies such as kombucha and olive oil. Staff is always very nice. They even make sure whether you need each dish vegetarian or vegan. The menu and specials board are also very clear about ingredients and customization options. Restaurant interior has been adjusted for mostly take-out, although they do offer a few small and distanced tables for dining in.
Visited Voulas for brunch three times this week alone and never left disappointed! The staff is friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is great and the food, of course, is the star of the show! I had spanakopita, the delicious lemon potatoes, the tofu scramble, the breakfast sandwich and more and it was all amazing! Definitely recommend as highly as possible. Where else you gonna find brunch on a weekday?!
Outstanding! Everything we got was delicious: vegan French toast, vegan kafteri egg sandwich, lemon potatoes, Pourakia, and vegan Kourambiedes. Can’t wait to go back to try more items. 11/10
Their vegan tofu scramble is to die for!!! The tables are cute, the staff are friendly, and the food is amazing
Spanakopita and baklava are better than amazing, so incredibly delicious and fresh. I can’t wait to go back for a dine in experience. The staff is so kind.
I'm not going to lie, as an omnivore I was a little worried going into a place that had no meat. It ended up being fantastic, the hummus was perfectly made, and had just the slightest texture to it, and the entrees we had were filling and very tasty. The server was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to everything. Kept on top of coffee and water refills, as well as checking in periodically throughout the meal. The decor was thrifty which gave it a nice warm home feel. Don't forget to try the cookies!
We were in town for two days and came both days. What a sweet little GEM! You feel like you're in Greece, with the cozy decor and friendly smiles, and the food is just excellent. Real Greek taste, and bottles of Greek olive oil and sauces if you want to take some home. Good prices for great food. Perfect.
Just had their Kafteri! It is delicious. Voula’s food is soo good and good for you! I’m glad they are part of our neighborhood. Their atmosphere is warm and friendly too!
Voula was a wonderful host, the servers were very kind and friendly and the food was amazing. I can't wait to go back!
Good place for vegan Greek food! The people that work there are friendly and the service is great!
Great vegetarian and vegan options, the baked goods are amazing!
First time back to Voula's in years and y'all do not disappoint. Most dishes can be prepared vegan (thank you!) and I would highly recommend the Samos Plate. There is no spanakopita that comes close to Voula's. Endlessly grateful for the sharing of ancestral magic to the Rochester community 🙏🏽
I'm obsessed with Voula's, it checks all my boxes: Eclectic decorations, friendly staff, great prices, fresh & delicious food, and all-around good vibes. I recently became vegan, and this place has been my saving grace (although I'd give it all up for their Tzatziki dip). My go-tos (although I get something different every time) Kafteri spread on a Mezedes Sampler, Combo Plate, Spanakopita, Lemon Potatoes, Greek coffee (do it for the mug), and ... I can't emphasize this enough... the Melomakarona cookies!! Chocolate covered ones, if you're feeling fancy. My favorite place in Rochester!
lovely experience every time. Love the new spot!
The perfect little spot for lunch or a Greek sweet. Some might think this is just a bakery but they have a great assortment of foods as well, salads, breakfast type items, shareables etc. I loved my dish of 3 eggs with feta and oregano on flatbread to soak up the delicious yolk and Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts- amazing. If you haven’t checked out this little gem yet; do so.
There are plenty of vegan treats to choose from and some green food options. The flavor was terrific! I did not realize the baklava had almonds; my girlfriend can't eat them. Pistachio would be lovely to see. Or a nut-free version if that is even possible. I'm sure if you let them know about an allergy, there are options here. There is some seating inside as well if you wanted to devour the deliciousness there.
Two summers ago I left my house with hopes to discover a new rochester gem. (It was good as I am still thinking about it, and it’s been two years) Well voulas did not disappoint! The outside of the building may seem a bit abrasive at first. However once you set foot into the building you are transported into another world. The food was really good and I ended up dragging my brother the very next day so he could have some as well. I have never been disappointed in anything I have ordered.
One of our very favorites since it opened. The food is consistently amazing. We have dined in, taken out, and had delivery. Each method to perfection on the eating end.
I stopped in here for a little brunch on a Saturday. The space is charming and welcoming, the staff is kind and accommodating, and the food is truly unreal. I got the vegan spanikopita and lemon potatoes on the side. Both were so flavorful, balanced, and unforgettable. This place is truly a gem: 10/5
The new location on Merchants is such an incredible asset to our neighborhood. Voula has taken what was formerly Morningstar and upgraded it with so many affectionate and thoughtful touches, and the food is to die for. Strongly recommend the Mt Olympus brunch plate.
The staff were fabulous and so welcoming. The owner was there and we talked for a while. It's nice to see someone that is so passionate about what she does: delivering wholesome, good quality food that pays homage to her family and culture. Brunch did not disappoint! I had spanakopita with eggs and lemon potatoes. The potatoes had so much bright flavor and the spanakopita was crunchy and filling. My friend and I shared the French toast, well spiced served with a lovely baklava syrup. You get two large peices, good luck trying to finish it all on your own. If you find yourself nearby, definitely give this small locally owned place a try.
i'm so glad Voula's moved to a bigger space with more parking!! it's now even easier to enjoy their delicious food. the breakfast plate was amazing, the spanakopita was life changing. the atmosphere is lovely, the staff is great, and the food is fantastic.
Such a good spot for brunch - you literally cannot go wrong with picking anything on the menu. The lemon potatoes go hard. The seitan slaps. The French toast? Sugary cinnamon-y goodness. Do yourself a favor and get one of everything.
This place was so cozy and warm. Food and people were amazing. If I lived close by it would be a daily hang. 5/5 stars. Great for vegetarians as well.
What a cuteeee place! Awesome food, giant portions, all vegetarian, staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations on the menu. It was very busy when we went, but didn’t feel overcrowded. The environment is very cute and I can’t wait to go back. And can’t forget about their adorable/cool merch.
Voula’s is such a gem. The staff is friendly; the space is bright, warm, and welcoming; and the food is excellent. I had the tofu scramble with lemon potatoes and both were so flavorful and delicious. You can tell this place is run with a lot of love.
So happy I got to try their new location!! Much more room for folks and somehow still busy on a Monday morning. The food was great (I got the souvlaki sandwich and the 3 spread, my friend got French toast and the lemon potatoes) and the servers were very kind, my friend and I had a lovely time and will be back (:
Our first visit to the new location on Merchants and what a treat! Thank you for keeping your great vibe alive. The food was delicious….no complaints. Highly recommend the greek fries and loved the addition of gyro to the kafteri egg sandwich. See you again…..
I stopped in for a late lunch and was very impressed by the menu. I’ve never had vegetarian/vegan Greek food, but was so impressed by what I had. I ordered a seitan gyro on their housemade bread and it was delightful. I’ve heard great things about their brunch and am excited to come back and try it!
Voula’s Greek Sweets is an absolute gem in Rochester, NY! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. As a Turkish-American customer, I was thrilled to discover that Voula’s offers a delightful taste of Mediterranean flavors that remind me of home. The menu is a wonderful showcase of Greek cuisine, featuring an array of delectable sweets and savory dishes. It’s a must-visit spot in Rochester, and once you’ve tasted their incredible offerings, you’ll find yourself coming back again and again. Highly recommended!
Vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurant excelling in fresh, home-made diner fare. Had the Seitan gyro, with lemon potatoes which were both excellent. The Seitan was so good, they make it on site. All the regular extras like tzetziki, tomato, onion made it just as good (maybe better) than its meat comparable. Service was a little bit of a wait, but the quality made it so worth it. Note: iced coffee I'd robust and delicious. Held up very well to milk.
Amazingly good greek food! My first time visiting and I didn’t know what to pick. It all smelled and looked amazing. There are three tables outside for outdoor eating. There is inside eating too and they do offer table service as well as to go/take out. Highly recommend. Parking can be a bit tricky and busy near lunch time but definitely worth the visit.
Great experience. Lovely people serving here. The food is vegetarian (I think) and it's very tasty. Go-to is the Ethiopian Plate. I didn't like the dessert that much but could be because of my choice.
A very cozy atmosphere inside. Being plant-based, I ordered the tofu scramble and was sad to find it incredibly salty! Great flavor, but too salty to finish. The lemon potatoes were yummy. And the vegan baklava tasted like heaven yum! I'm definitely down to try other things on the menu.
This cute little Greek place has a large variety of vegan/vegetarian options for breakfast/lunch. I had a combo plate with seitan gyros. The seitan, although flavorful, was unfortunately quite tough. The lemon potatoes were good, but could have used more seasoning. I will definitely return to check out more of their offerings.
A pleasant vibe with great food, sad to see it go but will be visiting their new location when it opens. Try the baklava!
Family run business. Incredibly nice and friendly people. Food is straight up incredible. Prices are really good and portion sizes are ridiculous. If you are looking for Greek food this is a place you should put on your list. Food was fast and accurate. Handling checks with a large group was very easy.
Good option for vegan & vegetarian food. The spreads and lagana bread were tasty. The spanakopita was not. Baklava was so-so. The waitstaff were quite slow and a bit inattentive. Cute restaurant though.
We loved the skordalia which is a spread made of almond, garlic, and russet potato with lagana bread—unique and tasty. The house special omelette was a healthy delight - it was stuffed with eggplant and lightly sauteed onions topped with feta cheese. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made it a great experience. Highly recommend.
Voulas is a staple for me! Great options. Delicious food and desserts. A pure treasure in Rochester.
Took my son here to enjoy the vegan versions of their food items. My son was lukewarm on the food but that doesn't surprise me because has a very picky palette and he was unfamiliar with Greek Foods. That said he did enjoy the sampler plate. I on the other hand enjoyed the foods and appreciated the flavors. The pizza flatbread was very unique but quite delicious. On the other hand wants my son got some of the desserts he switched to double thumbs up so there's that. I would come there again but probably better to go with my wife
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service, but the Food was just Meh...I'm Mediterranean and I was hoping for something more authenticly Greek. I ordered a mezze platter of feta and olives with tomatoes and cucumber. I liked it, but it's a dish that you can't get wrong. My kids ordered the gyro which was not awful but definitely not good. The meat was very very very thick and very chewy and the flavor was lacking. We would return but we would not order the gyro again.
Went on a Wednesday morning. Ordered the eggplant and morning star. Flavor wise the food was solid but for some reason the food came out cold, like it had been sitting out for awhile. Could be because a decent amount of customers but off putting. Service was ok, took awhile to get attention of someone. Mid experience
Wish we had a better experience. Food is pretty good except our spinach was very salty in the tofu scramble and 3 orders were messed up. One meal was completely wrong and two orders were missing eggs which was disappointing given how long it took but probably not surprising since our orders were not written down.
The food is almost ok despite being a vegan place. Ironically enough the worst dish was the Greek salad which was nothing else but lettuce with feta cheese. The rest of the food was decent, nothing outstanding. Not sure why they have such high reviews. The tables were sticky and dirty when we sat down and nobody cleaned them. The attitude of the staff is far from welcoming.
If you call yourself a Greek bakery, specifically one that specializes sweets, this is a pretty sorry excuse for baklava. Soggy and with huge chunks of walnuts. Not delicate, no crunch, and no depth to the flavor. Like eating a handful of syrupy walnuts and cinnamon. Probably the worst baklava I've had ever. You can find better in any of the many Greek or Mediterranean restaurants and markets around town (and for a better price too). Unimpressed by the food and the service was subpar. The woman at checkout was quite rude to myself and my wife.
