Aaron was awesome ! Best appletini ive ever had ! Spinach dip was fantastic ! First time checking the place out and won’t be the last!
We had the most perfect Valentine’s Day dinner at Via Roma! From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely amazing—so warm, attentive, and truly made us feel special all night. The food was even better than we expected. I ordered the stuffed gnocchi with Italian sausage and it was incredible, rich, and full of flavor. My girlfriend got the chicken parmigiana and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. We started with the Italian wedding soup, which was honestly phenomenal, and the homemade bread had such a fresh, amazing taste. We also treated ourselves to a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with everything. To end the night, we shared their famous 17-layer chocolate cake, which was the perfect sweet finish. The sweetest touch of all was when they brought my girlfriend a rose with the check for Valentine’s Day—it made the evening feel even more special. Such a romantic and memorable experience. We will definitely be back! ❤️
We went to Via Roma on Valentine’s Day and had a really nice experience. We started with the artichoke dip. For my entrée, I ordered the surf and turf, which was the special that night, and I really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the prime rib ravioli and he loved it.The portion sizes were great for the price. We had plenty to eat and still had leftovers to take home. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and helpful with any questions we had about the menu. The manager also stopped by our table to check in, which was nice and showed that they really care about their guests. The cocktail menu is also unique and has a good variety. I would definitely recommend Via Roma if you’re looking for a nice, romantic dinner.
This is a pretty large venue/restaurant. The staff there are friendly, attentive, and very helpful. Every staff member we encountered was wonderful. We just ordered appetizers, but every appetizer we ordered was fantastic. We ordered meatballs and arancini. The place was decorated for Christmas. It was beautiful, classy, and fun. I will definitely be going back to enjoy some of the other delicious menu options. They have great wine and cocktails
We had our Xmas party there yesterday downstairs in The Grotto and it was such a fabulous time! Nicholas was our contact from day one; he worked w us on dates and all planning! He was great. Sadie was our lead bartender and she was amazing! So accommodating to myself with moving things around for setup, and super friendly with all of our guests! Thank you all for making it such a great Christmas for our staff!
We had such a pleasant dining experience at Via Roma last night. It’s a cozy, festive atmosphere with a fireplace in the dining room. The staff was so friendly and attentive. I loved that they did not rush us yet we didn’t have to wait for anything. The super personable manager stopped by to check on us, also. He recommended a beautiful Italian, Barbera wine which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was incredible. The lamb shank was a favorite. My filet was cooked perfectly and the pasta was amazing. Finally, we ended with the lemon cake that was light and delicious. Craveable for sure! Can’t wait for my next visit!
We Came for a Halloween movie night. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I had never been here before, so it was an excuse to finally check the place out. First, our server was super friendly. I was really excited to try the gluten-free meatballs. It's nice to have a restaurant nearby that has gluten-free pasta, as well. The gluten-free chocolate cake was delicious. The event was amazing. They provided popcorn and little bags of candy and nuts. I'm afraid to go to bed, now, after the scary movie, hahaha, but I definitely recommend dining here!
Visited on a Monday evening and the hostess promptly welcomed us to the restaurant. The veal stuffed tortellini and short ribs were excellent! Fresh homemade rosemary bread and salad with their homemade dressing topped off a great meal. The service was outstanding, Danielle was very attentive. The price was very reasonable. (Happy hour drinks and appetizers were also available which could be a meal itself.) I highly recommend Via Roma.
I had the most wonderful experience at Via Roma tonight! From the moment we walked in, the restaurant was spotless and welcoming, and every detail from the hostess to the managers showed a high level of professionalism and personal touch. Our server, Alecia, was absolutely top tier! She was super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about all things Via Roma. I had originally looked over the menu online, but thanks to her salesmanship, we completely changed course and I’m soooo glad we did! She recommended the fritto misto to start, which was phenomenal. The house-made focaccia bread was perfectly baked and full of flavor. My dad, visiting from California, ordered the veal tortellini which was super flavorful and honestly something I would’ve ordered myself. I went with the Parmigiano with chicken and pomodoro, which was to die for! The chicken was perfectly breaded and bursting with flavor. My son had the braised short ribs, and the creamy polenta they came with was hands down one of the best I’ve ever tasted! I literally couldn’t resist stealing bites! The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the cocktails were fantastic! Via Roma is truly a hidden gem. I’d recommend it to anyone…whether you’ve been before and need to revisit the new menu, or if it’s your first time, this place is worth it. Everything was perfect, start to finish!
I really like this place. The food was good and the service was excellent. We had a large party of 20+ for my mom’s birthday and the wait staff were very attentive. Most of our food came out fairly quick but because we had such a large group, there were some delays on a couple of meals but only by a few minutes. The manager stopped by and told us about the history of this place. Of course I remember it being the old Carrie Cerino’s which always held good memories. He even showed us the event spaces which combined could hold upwards of 450. One room could hold 320 while the other 120+. They have a basement lounge which is cool. Safe to say this place will be a regular spot for me.
We have enjoyed a number of great meals at Via Roma. Amongst the dishes that we have enjoyed are the Fritto Misto and Artichoke appetizers, various pastas, the Branzino, Short Rib and Veal Osso Bucco entrees. It's clear that the kitchen puts a lot of care into the preparation of the dishes and the service is excellent as well. Special call out to Alecia who has taken great care of us the last couple of visits. We are so happy to have a dining option like Via Roma in our neighborhood!
It’s my second time visiting and I’m already planning on when I can dine again! I’m really impressed with the pasta dishes and love the atmosphere. It’s cozy and has so many separate dining areas that feel intimate. So far, the gnocchi and pappardelle are my favorites! The fig toasts and were a fantastic starter, definitely recommend. They make great cocktails and I’ve never gotten a wine I didn’t like. I would highly recommend Via Roma!
The BEST meal my husband and I have ever had. Via Roma is the perfect spot for a date night! The service paid attention to every detail and the chef came to our table to make sure we loved our dishes. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After dinner, we went downstairs to The Grotto pub and the atmosphere was so cool! This is definitely our new spot!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here! There's a nostalgic vibe when you walk in but with an updated and beautiful refresh! The lighting is incredible and the food is really good! You just have to go downstairs and see The Grotto! It feels like a speakeasy and it's tucked away with a beautiful blue tone. We are already planning to have a family dinner in the private dining space there. Upstairs, the staff was welcoming and friendly. With so many tables for the friend and family evening they were a little overwhelmed but I know it will just get better and better! Our waitress Natalie was kind and accommodating. We had the stuffed peppers for an appetizer as well as the calamari. Both were delicious but be prepared when they say hot peppers, they aren't kidding! These are not for the faint of heart and if you don't like spicy, you probably want to steer clear of this appetizer. I'm sure all of them are very delicious because even though I don't like spicy, the flavor of those stuffed peppers was amazing! The portion sizes are large and we were very well fed. I had the Eggplant Parmesan which was delicious. My husband had the Lasagna and that was equally delicious! The desserts were incredible. The chocolate cake is Rich and decadent and the accompanying ice cream is one of the best I've ever had! I highly recommend you go here. I know they will continue to do a great job. This is the family who also owns the awesome Aviator in Cleveland, So I already know they will be successful! Make sure to check this out and I can't imagine how absolutely stunning an event here would be!
EDIT: the lead chef invited all of us back to resolve the issue and give us a private experience with her to make up for everything that happened. All of us were pleasantly surprised and more than happy with the outcome for today, fathers day. Everything was cooked perfectly, delicious, flavorful, everyone was attentive to our needs. We got to try their new menu before anyone else and it was fantastic. Compared to the first time, this experience was above and beyond and convinced us to come back. We gave compliments to the chef, and we will be back now after this experience. Thank you for a lovely evening and taking the time to make sure your clients are happy that meant so much to us. Changed my 1 star up. So extremely disappointed. There were 8 of us, all excited to try this heard some good things and some bad but wanted to try for ourselves. We will never be back after our first time. Everything was so expensive for very basic food. They claim it's all made in house. There's NO way it is and if it truly is, they need to do better. All of the baguettes used for any appetizer or salads were rock solid we banged them on the plates that's how hard they were. Their cheese and meat platter they do not list everything that is on the plate which they should because we were unaware blue cheese comes in it and someone in our party is highly allergic. The cocktails could be better. The 2 breads they bring our for the table one is cheese one is plain, they're not warm they're cold. They give you butter with a oil on it and a olive mix which wouldn't be bad if the bread could be spread on the bread couldn't even do that. The main courses, mine was okay was the classic bolagnase with steak, the steak was chewy and mostly fat but was cooked correctly. We had a seafood risotto that wasn't that great as well as the lobster pasta. Veak marsala says it comes with a herb pasta all it is is a what seemed like butter noodles with cilantro. Dessert was okay, but definitely not what a torte is cheesecake could've been better too. Our table was very wobbly and to make up for it they gave us more dessert which we didn't really want. When asked about the house salad, I asked if we could get Caesar and they said yes for a upcharge that upcharge turned into full price. Not acceptable you need to tell people that it is full price and not state upcharge there's a very big difference in pricing there and we wouldn't have gotten that if we would've known. We were just over the whole experience even the checks some things were put on the wrong person's check but we just wanted to leave so didn't want to wait to change it. It seems like they are trying too hard to be authentic Italian food and it clearly isn't. Even the dressing for the Caesar there's no way that was house made, tasted like from a bottle. It has a very distinct flavor when it's freshly made this wasn't it. The atmosphere is nice it's a gorgeous place but trying to constantly remind you everything is house made, pushing it made it very clear it actually isn't. Very expensive for basic dishes. Edit: my mom got food poisoning from her dish the seafood risotto
Had a dinner with my husband and son. Found the atmosphere and decor to be exactly as I remember from Carrie Cerinos. Some might find it dated now, and to be, sure it is, but personally I find it comforting and nostalgic with the personality of the past warmth so I’m glad they kept it. Service was efficient and nothing was for want. They struck the right balance between making sure we had what we needed and leaving us to enjoy our conversation. Food is where we differed a lot. My son had been here before and didn’t enjoy it so stuck with soup and salad. Husband chose soup as his starter. Both found it to be full of meatballs, acini di pepe and all the good stuff but the broth was bland. My meal of short rib and polenta was tender but the short rib was a bit dry, the polenta was creamy but lacked depth of flavor. His chicken parm was thin and bready and I wouldn’t be surprised if it came right from a frozen box. The menu has the right variety but the owner needs to hire some chefs instead of cooks and let them create good Italian dishes. I was excited to finally try this new version of Carrie Cerinos and glad we did but it’s definitely not Cerinos. The only thing of Cerinos that remains is the decor.
I enjoyed attending Via Roma Event Center & Ristorante as it brought back many memories of attending Carrie Cerinos in the past! I was delighted that the inside looked relatively the same (minus the decor). The food was excellent. It was a little pricey, but overall, it was delicious! Our waitress was also fantastic and very knowledgeable regarding the menu! I would like to address the accessibility of the restaurant. A strong odor, which smelled like sewage, was inside, but the staff burned some plants, and the smell disappeared! This odor can be an accessibility issue for those with sensory disorders, as smells can overwhelm some. Luckily, the scent was fixed quickly, but hopefully, they can get rid of it for future guests. The restaurant's wrap-around entrance, which allows for direct drop-offs at the door, is a great feature that enhances accessibility. However, as shown in the picture below, the steep ramp could challenge those with mobility issues. The doors to the entrance are not automatic, which poses mobility issues as the door handle is vertical, not horizontal, making it inaccessible for those in a wheelchair. Overall, I understand the challenges in creating accessibility when maintaining the structure of the building; however, I feel the restaurant should warn guests that they may need extra help entering/exiting the building or with the potential for strong odors. Without providing this information, they create an inaccessible environment that can harm their customers. There is always potential for improvement in accessibility, and I hope the restaurant will consider it.
Seems to be hit or miss. The first time we ate here last year, we were very happy. This time was a disappointment. We started with the artichoke dip, which was very good. My son-in-law had French Onion Soup which came out looking great but was not. The onions were burned so the soup was bitter. I had the Chicken Parm which was pretty good. Too much spaghetti, small piece of chicken. My daughter had raviolis with truffle crème and liked it very much. Son-in-law had salmon and said it was good. My husband ordered scallops and shrimp which used to be just scallops. Now for the same price of $39, he got two scallops and three shrimp and the scallops were not large by any means. To be fair, the shrimp were large and tasty. But, this was a far cry from the dish he had in our last visit. On top of this, we never got our salads or any bread. When we told our waitress we were told that when you eat in the downstairs dining room you don’t get full service. WHAT? Why did the hostess not tell us this when asking where we wanted to dine? And why wasn’t that stated anywhere on the menu. Our waitress very kindly brought us the assistant manager who repeated what the waitress said and offered to bring us dessert to comp us for the missing bread and salads. When the waitress came back, she gave us 1 bag with ONE piece of cake for four people! And this is what we got for $222 not including tip, which we generously left because it was not the waitresses fault that we were disappointed. We won’t be returning or recommending this restaurant.
Our server was very nice when interacting at our table. However, there were very long wait times in between glasses of wine, food, etc. It seemed like our server had too much on their plate and that seems like a management issue. In addition, the hostess and what I believed to be a manager walked past our table a couple of times and I overheard them complaining about staff and customers. The food was good. There are better Italian restaraunts in the area.
We started with the calamari appetizer, which was excellent—perfectly cooked and paired with a nice, spicy tomato sauce. Our entrées, the spaghetti and meatballs and the sacchetti with mushroom sauce, were both very good. Unfortunately, the service was uneven. We waited about ten minutes after being seated before seeing a server, there was no salt or pepper on the table, and no cheese was offered with the pasta dishes. The salads were also not notable. Pricing was average, but overall the experience was disappointing compared to our previous visit, especially with less than half the tables occupied.
So dissapointed was so much looking forward to eat there. My husband and I had our wedding shower there in 1976. In the past we attended weddings there and was very impressed. So, we decided to come to the restaurant after they reopened. At first we started with the appettizer which was good. Then we waited 45 minutes for our meal to come. When it came my plate came with mash potatoes which was cold. I could not believe it. When we told one of waiter he said sorry and he brought me another bowl. Guess what that was also cold. My husband meal was Okay but even his veal was a little cold. What I don't understand is how the server/waiter was dressed, not appropriate if they are wanting this restaurant to be so fancy. They offer us a free dessert, not much of a great selection. We did not care for the atmosphere as far the music being played during our dinner. It would have been nice to hear some Italian songs, since the name is Via Roma.....Hope they make some changes. We heard that they were busy with a wedding and I think there was only one chef tonight. .....Again sorry but we wont be back.
Restaurant and location for events. Tastefully furnished. The staff are very friendly. The selection of dishes is very promising. The bread and olive pesto that we were served before the meal was very tasty. Unfortunately, it is not served with olive oil, but with butter. I had the tagliatelle al vongole. Mussels in white wine sauce . With this food, it's all about the fresh ingredients and fresh preparation. I doubt that my food was freshly prepared. The pasta had certainly been boiled beforehand. Unfortunately, far too much salt was used. I also had the feeling that there was cheese in the food. That is to say, the normal fine elegance of this meal, with the fine taste of the mussels was not identifiable. My companions had a salad, which was very good, and pasta with meatballs. They were both very satisfied. For me, the restaurant was allowed to celebrate Italian cuisine a little more authentically.
My Mediterranean salad was overfilled with onions and it was served without croutons. I kept a picture of how many onions there were. Also unhappy about the very limited menu in the Grotto. Yes, there was a band but the food is important. The waitress said she was a supervisor but she did not care about my salad complaint. Her tip was automatically included because we had a large group. You need to reconsider the menu or we are not coming back.
After working in the service industry for many years and understanding how much can go wrong, I have a hard time writing anything negative about a restaurant. However, I can’t ignore that we spent $172 before tip (including a $58 bottle of wine) on Valentine’s Day and left feeling very disappointed. Starting with the positives: -The arancini appetizer was delicious. -The bread was fantastic, although we did have to request it since it wasn’t brought out initially. -My entrée, the stuffed gnocchi with crispy chicken, was very good. -Our waitress was kind, apologetic, and clearly working extremely hard to manage issues that did not seem to be her fault. Unfortunately, there were several problems with timing and food quality. Our rosemary truffle fries, which were meant to come with our entrées, arrived before my husband’s soup and were severely overcooked. My husband’s veal parmesan with white sauce pasta was genuinely not good. The breading on the veal was off, and the pasta had such a strong, unusual flavor that it wasn’t edible. The only way I can describe it is that it tasted like star anise. There were also noticeable coordination issues. Courses came out of order, and none of our plates (appetizer, soup, bread plates, bread basket, etc.) were cleared at any point, despite visits from food runners, our waitress, and the gentleman refilling water. It created a cluttered and uncomfortable dining experience. We observed another couple speaking with who appeared to be a manager about similar concerns. The manager later visited our table but did not ask how our meal was. It felt as though he may have already known there were issues. Despite everything, my husband and I tried to laugh off the logistical problems and enjoy our evening. Had it not been Valentine’s Day, I likely would have addressed these concerns while we were there. The overall experience did not feel reflective of the price point, and unfortunately we would not return or recommend it. For context, the restaurant did not appear overwhelmingly busy for a holiday. The issues seemed more related to communication, staffing, or general logistics than volume.
This is our 2nd time at Via Roma. The 1st experience was nothing but fantastic. 2nd experience, not so much. We arrived, sat down and was greeted by our server. We placed our food and drink order, then waited and waited and waited. One server brought us bread with rock solid butter and another server brought our drinks. However, our server made 2 appearances at our table the entire evening. She went past us numerous times telling us our food was on the way, yet never noticed we were the only customers without their salads, that come with your dinner. By the time we got our food, which was very good by the way, the salad was no longer needed. The very next time we saw our server was when she brought us a dessert menu and the bill. The worst feeling to have as a customer is to feel ignored and thats exactly how we left your establishment. I watched our waitress pour ever glass from 2 bottles of wine for the 2 people next to us, yet cant check on us to ensure everything was ok? Even the manager walked past us without a word, yet talked to the table next to us. The best part of my experience was the piece of chocolate cake I took to go, which was even missing the ice cream. Will definitely consider not coming back after our experience
Food was awful and service was super slow. I got the chicken parmigiana and the sauce was most likely store bought the chicken was dry and overly breaded and just didn’t taste good at all. I got the white sauce with my spaghetti and the white sauce had next to no taste at all. The focaccia was even bad, it didn’t appear burnt but tasted like burnt food. I wouldn’t recommend eating there at all, they need to overhaul how they make Italian food because that’s not it. The manager seemed like a nice guy that’s the only compliment I can give.
We were here for a birthday party so we were seated in a separate room. We had a specific menu that was sent to us prior to the party and that was changed once we got to the party. The items that were changed were the caesar salad which was supposed to have parmesan crisps on it and the dessert which initially was a cannoli or cream brulee. I put the new menu in the pics. The cost was $50 per person and that did not include tax or tip. The total cost with tea or coffee was $64 per person. The caesar salad we were given was so small and had only 3 or 4 croutons on it. I wish I had taken a picture. We had 5 people at our table. Three of us ordered the braciole with potatoes scallopini. I grew up with braciole and this was nothing like my Mom made. None of us liked it. I took one bite of the meat and the potatoes and neither tasted very good. The potatoes had an odd lemony taste. And the braciole also had an odd flavor. I boxed mine up and brought it home for my husband to try. He opened the box and looked and with just the smell of it he said he would not eat it. So basically my entire meal ended up getting thrown out. 1 person ordered the chicken limon with herbed pasta. Her small piece of chicken she said tasted good but the pasta did not taste good and it was cold. The other person at our table got the pasta ragu. He said it was tasty but needed more sauce. Then came the dessert and instead of cream brulee that we initially thought we were getting they brought out belgium waffles and sfogliatelle. And No vanilla gelato was offered to us as was listed on the new menu. The desserts were not very good at all. I was very disappointed in the cost and in the food. I would not go back for dinner and I would hope no one else I know plans a birthday party here. It was not worth what we paid at all. The positive was both servers were excellent.
