Nestled in the famous Galleria leading to the Gonzaga garden, this wonderful Osteria is welcoming and comfortable. All dishes were cooked to order and uniformly excellent, as well a generously portioned. The attentive waiter took great care of the entire restaurant. The salumi misti, served with freshly baked dough pockets, were superb. We also liked to pike in green sauce on a bed of earthy polenta and the tasty duck sauce of our pasta dish. Wines by the glass were good quality and price. When visiting Sabbioneta, this is definitely the restaurant to seek out.
In Sabbioneta, the museums are closed from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM... We really have to have lunch :-) Gnocco fritto appetizer. Enough for two and truly excellent. We then enjoyed a plate of tortelli and maccheroncini with duck. Half a liter of wine and water. Recommended also for the friendliness of the owner who waits at the tables.
Great spot with good menu and wine list. Excellent local produce and very genuine service full of locals always a good sign
Excellent trattoria in the center of Sabbioneta. I ate outside near the Galleria del Palazzo Giardino, which was definitely a plus. The menu offers half traditional Mantuan dishes and half modern ones, all very well made. Excellent cooking and seasoning, clearly showcasing the craftsmanship. The kitchen is practically open to the public. Good wine selection. Good service, friendly and helpful owners. Prices are higher than average, but all in all justified. Satisfied and recommended.
A small, welcoming restaurant with great attention to detail. We tried the macaroni with duck ragù and the tagliolini with squid ink and octopus carbonara. We also had pike with polenta, donkey stew, and entrecote made with a meat whose name I don't remember, but it was very tasty. Everything was truly delicious. The service was courteous and professional. The prices were reasonable. Go to Sabbioneta to eat at La Dispensa... but don't forget to visit the 7 places recommended by the tourist board because they are truly worth it... almost as much as the food.
Food is really good, so it’s highly recommended. Prices are very honest 👍🏻Service is good and decently fast; not excessively friendly tbh, just so you know it
This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the B&B where we stayed: we ate excellent food (pumpkin tortelli, tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, black ox fillet with potatoes, and Torta Elvezia) in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly service, reasonable wait times, and prices perhaps higher than the local average, but absolutely justified by the quality of the ingredients. Reservations are always recommended, as seating is very limited.
We were truly amazed. The quality of the ingredients was excellent. The food was cooked with great creativity. The dishes were exquisite; we had the salads, the marinated raw fish, and the walnut liqueur parfait. The wine was also good. The atmosphere was clean. We complimented the chef; we'll definitely be back.
An experience to repeat (and we will repeat). The three of us went for lunch and were won over by the small but pleasant atmosphere, with tables spaced apart, beautifully set with fabric tablecloths and tableware suitable for the dishes. We ordered three first courses, two appetizers, two bottles of water, three desserts, and three coffees. Everything was very enjoyable (pumpkin tortelli and bigoli with duck sauce; pike with polenta and various cured meats with cheese and giardiniera; and fried gnocco). The walnut-flavored semifreddo dessert was fabulous. The price came to €98, and we complimented the chef. We will definitely be back.
Had lunch here today. The food was fantastic. Risotto and Agnolotti were very tasty. Dessert was also very good. Staff were friendly and helpful with sightseeing tips.
We visited this restaurant two consecutive evenings. The atmosphere at the outdoor tables is very quiet and romantic, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We tried a few traditional appetizers and a few first and second courses. We loved the elegant presentation of the dishes and their flavors; we especially recommend the pike in sauce with polenta and the tagliatelle with duck ragù. The prices are reasonable given the location and the quality of the dishes.
Conto ottimo. Peccato che abitiamo molto lontano.
If you need to stop for a bite to eat during your trip to Sabbioneta, La Dispensa is the place for you. A no-frills osteria with sincere dishes served simply: the agnoli in capon broth, which I ordered, were so delicious they never seemed enough, and the fried polenta made with chestnut flour was also a delight. The service also reflects the atmosphere: friendly, welcoming, and direct. In short: if you love home-cooked food, this is the place for you.
We had a wonderful time! The gnocco fritto was delicious and accompanied by quality cured meats. I also recommend the macaroni with duck ragù and the black beef steak, incredibly tender. To finish, the sbrisolona with zabaglione: superb, the zabaglione is one of the best I've ever had!! Unfortunately, the only downside that affects the overall score is that the cooking smells leave your clothes smelling like they're cooking. It's a shame because the quality of the food and the dining experience are truly excellent. Well done, anyway!!
A beautiful place with many decorative details that add that special something to the customer's eye. The lady (I think the owner) is kind and friendly. Good food (you can taste the freshness of the products and the fact that they're freshly prepared). The restrooms are small but clean. Reasonable prices. Central and characteristic location in the beautiful town of Sabbioneta.
A small restaurant with a good selection of quality dishes. We tried the black ox tartare with honey mustard, fennel and orange garnish, and pumpkin tortelli alla Mantovana. Everything was carefully prepared and truly delicious. The staff was young and friendly. Given the limited seating, it's best to book.
Good food. 4 choices for each course. Advisable to book at weekends
A bit hidden but in a superb location. Friendly staff, good dishes, if a bit pricey. The appetizer with prosciutto, melon, and burrata was good but average. The butter and pumpkin tortelli were excellent, the grilled lamb was very good, and the Torta Elvezia was excellent. The bill is a bit high, as mentioned at the beginning, despite claiming to be a high-end restaurant. Still, worth a try if you're in the area.
We have been turned away for no apparent reason (only lame excuses) by a waiter (or the owner, I cannot say) who received us with evident annoyance
We have been turned away for no apparent reason (only lame excuses) by a waiter (or the owner, I cannot say) who received us with evident annoyance
We tried to get in for lunch (1 hour before closing - a possible reason for the treatment?) and they tried to find various excuses not to have us. First, they said they don't have a table big enough for us. After we said that the kid will sit on my lap, they said that our dog is not allowed inside. We would agree to leave it outside, if the tone was not so "definite" and the lady was not cutting our way in. We didn't appreciate that we had to look for another place on such a hot day.
