The service was incredibly courteous and Green Thai Iced Tea is so incredibly delicious
A true hidden gem right outside a crowded downtown Sacramento. Not a single dish here I don’t like, & they’ve got the best spring rolls & peanut sauce in Sacramento. I love spring rolls. Oh and the Thai iced tea. Honestly bro all of it slaps.
What a great find! A small quaint place that’s adjacent to J street that requires a short trek down into a plaza.
I was craving Asian food and found this authentic thai restaurant across the road from our hotel. It was very quiet for a Saturday night - only 3 tables. The service was friendly, food was delicious - we had potstickers, eggplant stir-fry with tofu, bbq chicken, thai ice tea and thai ice coffee. Large, generous portions for affordable price. Would highly recommend coming here if you are in the area!
Been here twice now, I dined in once and did takeaway the other. Both times the food and service have been excellent. I got the massaman curry with chicken as I'm a creature of habit. Also both times I've been here it hasn't been busy. Show this place some love, it's worth the trip.
Wonderful little place with fantastic thai food at reasonable prices! Went here on Sat evening and were greeted warmly by a kind couple. Massaman curry and tom yum noodle soup were excellent along with smoked salmon fresh spring rolls.
It was great, the service went above an beyond and the food definitely a 10/10.
Great place to go before an event at Golden One Center.
This is a great place. The spring rolls are fantastic. Very fresh and the peanut sauce is extra flavorful. The teriyaki chicken is tasty as well as the eggplant with chicken. Service was excellent as well. It’s a little hidden down below and behind a building on j street. I highly recommend giving it a try.
(This is Sebastian (6yo), using my mom's account.) Jim was reeeally nice. When he made a mistake , he gave us a whole pineapple fried rice, and a Thai green tea!
We ordered the shrimp appetizer, sweet and sour pork and chicken chow mein. We were not disappointed! Great service, amazing appetizers and main courses. Little hard to find, it's in the courtyard, behind the big buildings, but really worth your time to look. Truly a diamond in the rough.
I don’t know why anyone would rate this under 5 stars. I’m a flight attendant & specifically overnight here just to eat at Lotus. Lol! I love their chicken ginger stir-fry here as pictured with strips of ginger in it. So good. Everything is so delicious and the staff is so great. Such a hidden gem in the USA. I won’t lie, almost worth moving here for this place. Lol.
I don't review often but when I do. Great portions and price. The lady at the counter was super sweet and just told me to please take a seat while I waited for takeout. The ginger in the rice was awesome with well cooked proteins. Little bit of work hei as well for those who know. I really would recommend it.
I had a wonderful dinner here last night. I started with a complementary soup that was this delicious potato-lemongrass soup; very tasty. The chicken pad see ew was amazing; probably some of the best Thai food I’ve tasted since visiting Thailand. The server was so nice too, we had a nice chat about Thailand and she was nice enough to endure my attempt at speaking some Thai. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Very friendly attentive staff, not one but all. I have been bringing my staff members there for lunch the last several months while working on project next door. The food is always good and the location is clean and well maintained. We now go there at least 3 times a week.
This hidden gem is absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Their food is incredibly delicious and the prices are great! We have found our new favorite spot in downtown and thank you so much to Jim for making us feel so welcome. If you are looking for Thai food, and you don't go here, you are missing out!
Their pad Thai is perfectly balanced—neither too wet nor too dry, with great texture and flavor. 🍜 The curry rice is rich and aromatic, full of comforting spices. 🍛 Combined with the warm, cultural ambiance, it’s a lovely spot for an authentic Thai dining experience. 😋🌸 Also below 20$.
Every time I go to the DOCO area I see the restaurant sign illuminating the stairs. The sign is just drawing you in to an amazing gem! Small inside but so much flavor potential. The pad Thai and green curry were on point. The curry came with rice! (big win!) My husband gobbled his beef pad Thai up in on sitting. Don't do what I did, which was waited to long to try this restaurant. Staff were super friendly and helpful! Food was fast and hot all the back to my house! Highly recommend!
When I go watch the Kings at Golden 1 Center. I usually either eat inside Golden 1 Center or at Old Sacramento until I discover Thai Lotus Cuisine. I had dinner here three times in less than a month. They have a simple menu. But everything I have tried is delicious. I like the curry chicken noodles the best! The restaurant has one gentleman taking the dining room and one chef taking care of the kitchen. They're not very busy all three times when I'm there. The guy who works in the dining room is fast and polite. The dining room is comfortable and well lit. It is very clean. I enjoyed my meals there. It is much better than eating my dinner inside the arena. Street parking is available in the area. The parking garage is nearby. But please pay attention the restaurant is behind the building on J Street. You have to walk down a few stairs to find their front door.
Sacramento is a paradise full of mouth-watering Thai food options. One such option is, Thai Lotus Cuisine located in the courtyard of Chinatown off of J Street in Downtown Sacramento. This charming restaurant is inviting with a warm ambiance. The portions are generous and packed with Thai spices. The entrees are incredibly fresh and authentic, transporting you straight to Thailand. The cucumber salad is addictively delicious. Also, the warm porridge will warm your soul. Portions can be shared, so you can try multiple dishes. This is a great lunch date spot, since it's located in the historic Chinatown area. Grab a delicious lunch and then explore the historical architecture and statues. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY
Fresh spring rolls were soo flavorful. I really enjoyed it with the peanut sauce. We ordered the red curry and my favorite part was the eggplant in it and also the sauce! Service was great! They were attentive and available when we needed something. Overall, definitely some good Thai flavors in this restaurant and worth the visit. You should try!
This was a hidden gem. The only place open in around there. Very close and the service was wonderful. Very quite and easy to have a conversation. We recommend Thai Lotus Cuisine for the curry.
HIDDEN GEM 💎 ALERT! Thai Lotus is great! They are never busy and always friendly! The restaurant is cute, not fancy and the food is always always fresh! I come here for lunch and before Kings games. Super close to the entrance and 25% of the cost vs places in DOCO. Sometimes the fresh spring rolls with shrimp are tempura 🍤 still hot! Amazing. Larb is great and I get the Basil Stir fry every time. They do not mess around with the heat, so order mild if you are sensitive.
We were super hungry after my daughter's graduation. We decided on Thai food, and my daughter had initially suggested another restaurant near Golden 1, but saw Lotus Thai, which is literally across the venue. We ordered a few appetizers, fresh and fried spring rolls, calamari, papaya salad, wonton soup, and I know, looking at the attached pics, we kind of ordered a lot of fried rice dishes, but some of us have allergies or preferences. Everything that we ordered came out fast, fresh, and delicious. Our server was very patient and did a fantastic job. We will definitely come back and will try the other dishes. We found a gem! Overall experience is: ☆☆☆☆☆ 5 stars!!!
This is a hidden gem!! The owners Panh and Tina are so friendly and the service is super efficient! Nothing but smiles, joy and amazing food fill this place. Having lived in Thailand for several years, I am.always on the lookout for amazing Thai restaurants. The food was amazingly fresh, had great flavors and they kept true to the traditional dishes which is much appreciated. Don't forget to try the papaya salad 😋 it is a must have!!
I really enjoy their food! We had pineapple fried rice and tom yum noodle soup. Both are very authentic and tasty. It’s a hidden gem of Sacramento (hidden because it is not easy to find the place… it’s not located on the main street)
Wife had the red curry. I had the beef stiry fry. Both were extremely fresh and tasty. This was the best stir fry i have had in years

Thank you to Jim, you were very friendly and the food was delicious, level 4 spicy was absolutely perfect for me and the servings were plentiful. My cousin had drunken noodles for the first time and he loved it. Was a great place to stop by before our next train ride!
This is our favorite Thai restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious. Such a pleasant, happy place to enjoy lunch or dinner.

The service was excellent, I ordered takeout but decided to dine in and the man was very easy going and polite. The restaurant looks clean and is a comfortable space to enjoy a meal. Even though I ordered take out, when I was eating in the restaurant he offered to fill my water container with ice multiple times. I ordered the pad thai with extra toufu and the portions was massive. You can easily feed 2 adults and a couple of children on the pad thai alone, the taste of the pad thai was really different then most places in a unique way. It wasn't as much sauce as I anticipated but had a good balance. The toufu was also a good bite, only recommendation is I wish the dish as more flavors. A little more peanut and other flavors and the dish would be absolutely perfect.

Came here a couple of times for lunch. The complexity of the flavors and noodle dishes definitely fills a niche in the immediate area. Portions are filling, but the wait time for orders can take a while. My gripe with the pad see ew is the same gripe I have with all the Asian fried noodle dishes today in the broader area: it needs a harder fry that puts some color on the noodles. Otherwise the dish comes off as somewhat one-dimensional. Overall: Hidden? Yes. A gem? Debatable.
The food was disappointing given the reviews. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen. Pad Thai was dry and not particularly flavorful. The other item I ordered was ok. It was bland but maybe it’s supposed to be. I thought I was ordering a salad.

Food is okay, doesn’t like traditional Thai food. Like mix Asian restaurant. The owner is working very hard by himself in the front of the house. Location is hidden inside community. Parking is not easy.

Food was ordered online, no sauces and tastes so bland. I have not liked at all.
I work across the street and come here a few times a month. Every time I get the same thing, the price of the dish changes. Last time, it was around $15. Today she charged me almost $17. The menu prices do not reflect what things actually cost. I pointed it out today when she ran my card and she said “only a dollar” nonchalantly. The menu is still the same. They DO NOT update their prices inside or online. I will patronize other places that keep prices fair and clear.
Tucked below street level, this Thai spot was hard to find, and unfortunately, it wasn’t quite worth the search. The food was mediocre at best. I had the pad Thai, which came out overly wet and lacked the flavor you’d expect from such a classic dish. It wasn’t bad, but certainly not great. On the bright side, the service was friendly, and the owner went above and beyond, keeping the doors open past closing, which was a nice touch. Sadly, that level of hospitality couldn’t quite make up for the subpar food. If you’re in the area, it’s okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.
