Love this place! Best craft beer bar in San Antonio! The staff know their beer and how to provide great service in a comfortable environment. Five Stars all around!

Bitters location of the franchise beer tap house. This location is the largest of the three San Antonio Big Hops taprooms. Although the biggest, it's usually not overly crowded or loud. Even on event nights, there is usually space to sit and the buzz is low enough to carry on a conversation. Love the selection of craft draft brews!

Really pleasant and dog friendly... went for trivia for the first time but I will be back. They allow you to buy food next store at the Mexican restaurant and bring it over too... reasonable too

Great place to go to and get some unique craft beers. Get a growler or bring your own so you can take it home with you! Love going to this place, really good atmosphere.

31 beers on tap, crowlers, growlers and you can bring your own food

Nice little spot, will visit again!

Large selection of beer, good service, and clean environment. There's a small patio out back and you can bring food in from the several restaurants around the bar. They have lots of tvs and board games available for use.

Solid offerings, nice beer tender. Will return

Get out of the mainstream and visit your craft beer bars. Big Hops has a local feel with personable service. Our bartender, Eric, was friendly and knowledgeable. Every recommendation he gave was spot on, and we all had a blast. The beers on tap are novel and delicious. Come expecting an adventure, and enjoy the ride. You won't be disappointed.

I was going here for Monday night trivia for a while. It was a fun hour, filled with an entertaining host and some good beers that I’d never heard of. I got a growler fill a few times, but we never stayed long after trivia. They’re not technically a bar, so their hours are shorter, but they fill growlers and server beer on site. It seems like a nice place to spend a few hours.

Objectively the best bar in San Antonio. Every Wednesday around 7-8PM there is a Smash Brothers Tournament!

Excellent place to grab a beer. They have 30 or so beers on tap and they rotate them regularly so there is always something new to try. It's craft beer at its finest. Bring your growler and take home some good craft beer. Or, buy a growler and have it filled while you are there. Excellent spot and friendly staff that will educate you on beer styles at no extra charge. Absolutely a great place to go. Cheers.

Excellent rotating beer selection. Excellent staff. The hubs, kid, and me love hanging out here. Now have covered outdoor seating with heat when it's chilly. You can also bring outside food in. Los Balitos is amazing which is a couple doors down. Wingstop is also nearby.

One of our favorite stops! Great atmosphere and literally the best service! Theyre all amazing! And they always have a cider and a mead on tap for me!

Great atmosphere, basketball hoop in the back is the perfect place to play horse against your mates for a free brew.

This place is fantastic. Great beer selection and awesome service. There was only one food truck in the back, but the food was delicious. Could definitely spend a few hours here with some buddies and would recommend to anyone looking for a laid back local place to enjoy an evening.

This place is great. If you appreciate great craft beer, then you'll love it here. They have an always-rotating selection of beers, most local to Texas. You can get a taster, a pint, or a 32-64 oz. growler to go. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to give a suggestion for new beers to try. I like that they always have root beer on tap, so I can stop by with my kiddo (and my wife can still enjoy while she's pregnant.) I stop in about once a week, and I always recommend Big Hops to my friends.

great spot for Sunday for football. great rotating beer selection and always fresh. if you see the owner Rob in there be sure to say hi, hes down to earth and friendly as they come. looking forward to my next visit aka get away from home

Do you love good qualify craft beer? You'll LOVE Big Hops Growler Station. You can buy a growler from their inventory or bring your own from home. I frequently stop by on my way home from work to pick up some new deliciousness they have on tap, and enjoy from the comfort of my own couch. The only downside, they only have about 3 or 4 sit down tables so it's not a great place to meet up with a large group. Plenty of bar and counter space to either stand or pull up a chair. I've taken my own lawn chairs before and the owners didn't have a problem with it.

Showed up midday. Not too busy. The bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful in letting me try some of the areas best beers. Good pricing on in house and "to go" items. Will definitely come back when I'm in town.

We visited from out of town and our bartender was amazing. He asked what we liked and poured us some amazing beers. He even recommended places to live and things to do (we were on the hunt). We will def be back! :)

One of the most "chilled back" craft beer bars around. It has been a favorite of mine for many years. The taps are always changing and you can always have a sample or three, before you commit to a whole beer. Just go in and tell them what you normally drink... They will point you in the right direction.

This place is chill and if you just want to try different IPAs, ciders, ales on tap this is the place to go. We have been fans for 3 years. Have gone to trivia night and karaoke night. They just added casino games and darts but always had pool. Plus this place is dog friendly!

Big Hops Bitters has a welcoming vibe with a wide variety of beers on tap, from IPAs to stouts. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready with a solid recommendation. It’s loud on Friday nights, but the energy makes it a fun place to hang out and unwind.

Great local spot with friendly knowledgeable staff(they let you try something before you get a pint of it as well which is great if you’re branching out and trying something different). Solid rotation of local beer which is sure to have something for everyone. Edit: Came back here a year later and still amazing beer selection. Will definitely be back.

I’m not a fan of beer at all, and I don’t think I ever will be…. With that being said, I must say that Emily was AMAZING… She patiently helped me find a beer that I could find at least TOLERABLE 🤣🤣… As well she educated me on different types of beer and some of their origins. She seems to be really educated and throughly enjoys what she does and that positive energy shows. Thanks for the help, you did amazing. (Im still probably gonna stick to Tequila tho)

First time at this location. I really liked it; much larger than the Huebner location. Staff was friendly and the selection was good. The bartender was really personable and made us feel extremely welcomed. She even helped my girlfriend pick out a drink (they serve Martin House Brewery, which is her favorite)!

Seriously so happy, I actually found this location accidentally! Amazing staff, so humble. The crowd is chill and friendly so it's not awkward. My husband and I sat and talked to an Army Veteran who is a regular that suggested we bring in food, chill there and have amazing beer. So glad we took his advise. We ended up sitting there talking to him for a good few hours. That's now our regular spot to have a date. They are not expensive at all. So the good reviews you see are pretty spot on. Live long and Prosper, Bri. 🖖🏾❤️

Nice place tucked away as a friendly neighborhood bar/hangout joint. They have trivia on Tuesdays and the staff was helpful, friendly, and just all around nice. They have video game tournaments during the week, lots of TVs for sports, and check out their chill patio in the back. If you’re lucky, sweet doggies might come up and check you out!

Big Hops is my favorite hole-in-the-wall beer place in San Antonio. My buddies and I have been going here for over a year now. Great place to meet up at the end of a long work day. They have a solid selection of rotating beers on tap so there is something new to try every week. And it's all local beers! 🍺🍺

Big Hops always delivers a great craft beer selection, and I was thrilled to find my favorite seasonal brew on tap—Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot Ale! Perfect atmosphere, great service, and a solid rotating lineup of beers. A must-visit spot for any craft beer fan. Cheers!

Love ,love ,love Big Hops. Corey always takes really good care of us. They have a bunch of Freetail on tap, right now. Very chill place you can do samples to figure out what you like. Lol, South Park was on one of the screens. Mondays is 3 dollar pints. Cheers!

Beer, board games, eclectic music and a pool table. Pretty standard place. Not a whole lot of options if you are not a beer drinker. Two ciders are available if beer (or gluten) is not your thing. Good place to meet up with a group of friends, sit at a table and have conversation. Very laid back vibe.

A good selection of craft beers, with some in cans to go. I gave food 3 stars because there is a food truck which serves 1 item - fish n chips. They are good, and he even serves it with malt vinegar; however, it is the only item. I would definitely return.

Good bar with a great selection of brews! Bartenders are all pretty solid too. There used to be a bartender there named Eric who really knew beer and sourced some incredible stuff, I think also organized some great live music - Bring that guy back! 4 stars without him, 5 stars with!

Only good if you are a beer drinker and like to spend a lot on one drink. They don't offer anything else. Wish they offered more because it is really a cool place to hang out.

I came here with work friends this evening and was here for a few hours. We were sitting outside and were not being waited on. We were going inside and waiting in line for drinks, which was fine. The tab was in my name and at the end of the night the total came out to around $110. My friends and I were putting cash in the tip jar throughout the evening. I tipped the bartender a couple of dollars with each round of beers, so probably $10-12 total. I also tipped the bartender an additional $5 when I closed the tab. My friends and I were finishing our beers when a woman (a patron of the bar, not an employee) suddenly appeared at our table and demanded to know who Michael K was. When I replied that I was him, she began to verbally accost me in front of my friends for the $5 tip I left the bartender. I was not sure who this woman was or how she knew my name. I explained that my friends and I had been leaving tips throughout the evening and that we weren't being waited on, but she continued to yell and argue with me until I finally gave the bartender a $20 bill to put an end to the situation. The bartender was aware of the situation and didn't try to intervene. I also think she must have given my name to the woman who accosted me, which is unacceptable. My friends and I were having a great night until this occurred. I will not be returning.

In one of the most heart breaking reviews that I have had to make, a once stellar 5/5 establishment underwent a drastic transformation, attributed solely to the owner's demeanor. A client and I, hailing from overseas, sought to explore the essence of American craft beer and chose Big Hops with high expectations. Regrettably, the place was a mere shadow of the vibrant spot I revered 10 months ago. Our attempt to indulge in the uniquely American Pizza Machine in the was thwarted when the pizza failed to materialize. Playfully suggesting a beer instead at of the Pizza at closing, we were unexpectedly met with disdain from the owner, declaring our business unwelcome and we should never return to his establishment. Bewildered and confused, I inquired about the aggressive stance on what was obviously a joke, especially after being a patron for the last decade, only to hear, "I am at an age where I don't have to put up with any of that stuff." Despite clarifying our lighthearted intent, he adamantly refused tolerance. After telling him that it was obviously a joke with the bartender who I have known almost a year an attempt to reconcile, the owner eventually admitted he did not read the situation incorrectly. But unfortunately the owner's unyielding stance embarrassed my client from Vietnam, prompting our departure. It's disheartening to witness a flagship location, once a regular haunt, succumb to mismanagement, shedding light on the closures of other branches. All this turmoil over a below-average pizza, and leadership.
