Big Lou’s pizza was delicious. They were very busy so the service was backed up. The pizza was worth the wait. They should try to open another location since they are doing so well. Two locations might work to their advantage.
I love this place!!! Whenever we are in S.A., I make it my mission to come here. For such a huge pizza, I’m so happy it also has great taste to it. Cooked to perfection, not overly saucy and toppings are on point. I love the experience and thrill of getting the 42in pizza. Not only that, their drinks and side items are just as good! Service is great, our waitress today was AMAZING!!! If your in town, you have to…no no, it’s required for you to stop here and get their pizza. You won’t be disappointed!
The quality of service is awesome! They made sure we were comfortable. Helped us add an extra table together and even sang happy birthday to my kid brother who just turned 13! They really made us all feel special and the food was top notch! Overall a great experience. There was a looooong LONG line but that's to be expected with such a popular amazing place! Worth being patient!
Amazing place. My family and I absolutely love it here and look forward to every visit. The food is delicious and the staff is always so friendly. Thanks you for so many years of amazing food and service!
I went to Big Lou's for a Christmas party and was very impressed with everything. The wait staff and bar tenders were quick and on point the whole time. More importantly they were all incredibly friendly and really made the dinner amazing. The restaurant has a very chill atmosphere and is a great place to kick back and watch a game. The pizza was and wings were delicious! Both were perfectly cooked and huge! I will definitely be coming by again with some friends in the future and highly recommend it for anyone who wants good food, drinks, and atmosphere.
Great Giant Pepperoni Pizza!!! Giant slices as long as Your Arm if you are a Full Grown Man or Woman!!! Big Lou's Pizza is worth the trip to San Antonio. Great Cheese, Pepperoni, and Sauce with a hint of garlic in the Crust. The Cheese bread has garlic in the Crust also. Everyone gets a large drink even if it is water. Really Nice Place. They also said they don't call 911 so beware trying something in this place.
Great place. Love the white pizza. Had an Italian sandwich to change it up. ❤️ fast friendly service.
Work out with some friends. We enjoyed the food was delicious. The service was great a little bit too loud for my liking. But I understand several parties are held. There, so all in all great experience
First time here and we loved it! My son did not want any part of the pizza at first because he did not think it was real. I had to eat it first before he would take a bite. We ordered a 37 inch pizza and it was huge. We saw the larger size pizza while we waited on our pizza to come out! Saw this place in Food Network years ago and always wanted to come and I did! Great atmosphere and family friendly! The pizza is delicious by the way!
Great place for a great memory. Staff awesome and food delicious. Our waiter name (I am kicking myself bc I am bad with names ) was a great guy who helped us with pizza choice and setup. His personality made the night even better. I do apologize for not getting including his name but did get photo of him with the best pizza ever
Big Lou’s is the place to go in SATX for pizza!! You won’t be disappointed with the size nor the taste! I recommend getting there early because you will be waiting for an hour so on the weekends because the pizza is so good. No reservations on the weekend either. That’s understandable because they get so packed because the pizza speaks for itself. Trust me you will be back. We have been back several times already since moving here in 2019.
Went in to order take out, was a little confusing and hectic to order take out in person. Highly suggest to order ahead if taking out. Food wise was good, your average pizza. It wasn't the very best but was not the worst. So if you want a pizza fix that's not a big national chain, this is a good place for that.
Stopping by here was the perfect Texas experience. Get the 48 inch pizza and you won’t be disappointed. They told us that the wait would be about three hours but we got seated within the hour. They are a big popular hotspot, they made ya purchase and tip first and then wait to be seated and then again wait for your food. This was the only thing I thought was weird but I understand that it’s a lot of food to be wasted if people leave or try to pay with a bad card. Would come again 10/10
If you have a big appetite/family and want to get the most for your money, this is the place for you. Parking is located in the back of the establishment and when you arrive you have to wait outside to be seated. The servers are polite and very helpful I know its hard to visualize an enormous pizza but they can explain everything to you. We had the wings as an appetizer and they were well sauced and juicy on the inside with a light crisp of the skin. They have a lot of memorabilia on the walls and it's a place that has a lot of history. We ordered the 37" and between a family of 6 we ate about half of it, on a side note we took it home and it still tasted great. The pizza has great flavor and is a thin crust when it is ready it is brought to your table by 6 men, jk. The delivery of the pizza to your table can be impressive but when the waiter brought it out he said "good luck." I love this place and my family enjoyed the pizza. Next time we return to San Antone we will try once again to take it down.
Came in on a Tuesday with my buddies to eat and catch up, had a great time especially with our server Chris. He was super attentive and upbeat, left happy and full. Always a great time at Big Lous
First time here! Our server Emily was awesome, she made our experience great, she was very attentive to our party's needs and very caring. She recommended that I try the chocolate cannoli and she wasn't wrong about it being the best, just like her being the best at what she does, will definitely be returning in the future thanks to Emily, our 42 inch pizza was awesome, great flavors and delicious food
First timers and we ordered Pizza Take out (in a hurry). The 16 inch pie was superb. We tried their homemade Meatballs as one of the toppings and it was delicious. While we are not local, we drive through this area and will definitely return.
The pizza is delicious. The crust is unique, with a large bread-y ring around the edge with amazing flavor. The Fettuccini Alfredo is very good as well-- huge portions--easy to share! Great staff!
I’ve been wanting to try this place for several years. I first heard about it from friends and family about how big the pizzas were so I had to come find out myself. When you pull up to the parking lot, the front door looks like it’s closed. You have to drive around to the back where the entrance is and find parking. Upon arrival, there’s a line that you are standing in, with the menu on the wall and a host to sit your party down. Please note it is a dark atmosphere so you can’t wear sunglasses while in the establishment. The wait time to sit down was probably 5 to 10 minutes and to me that’s pretty quick. We ordered the 42 inch pizza for a party of seven and we had two to go boxes filled with pizza so next time we’ll probably order the 37 inch pizza. 🍕 Our order consisted of a garden 🪴 salad with ranch dressing. The plates they give you for the salad are smaller than your hand. They may have been small on those plates for salad, but the plates for the pizza slice were probably 20 inches long for their big pizza slices. The chicken Alfredo was good and the pizza we ordered had pepperoni with extra cheese and the supreme, so you can order half-and-half but you can’t mix with specialty pizzas. And last but not least the wings! The restrooms were semi clean, and we had to ask for a to go box three times. But other than that, I would definitely return again. FYI if you’re going to go to this place, go on an empty stomach and a hunger for delicious pizza.
First time visiting Big Lou’s. It was very pleasant. Good atmosphere. Great service. We ordered pizza and lasagna. Our entire group was amazed by the size of the pizza!! It was 8 of us and we didn’t even put a dent in pizza. Sooo good! The lasagna was okay, We had high expectations for it but it wasn’t what we hoped. We would definitely come back here! Overall great experience!!
Big Lou's was amazing. We went for my niece's 13th birthday and the pizza was fantastic. There was a photographer taking pictures and he even specialized one for her birthday. I can't believe how big this pizza was and it still tasted wonderful. You can order regular size pizzas but if you've got a big party this is definitely the place to go.
We've eaten at Big Lou's twice. I heard of it on an episode of Man vs Food. Although laid back, it's a bit noisy but fun. Service was a little slow both times we went BUT it's well worth the wait! The pizza is absolutely delicious. Of course we can't eat the entire pizza but it makes for a delicious breakfast the next day!
The biggest pizza I’ve ever had! We tried coming here a few years ago but its closed Mondays so we tried again today. It opened at 11am on Thursday and we were the first ones in the parking lot. The restaurant is clean and it has a darker ambient. Very cool aesthetic. The bathrooms smelled super clean too. The best part? The giant pizza! It was not only huge but so delicious. We also ordered wings and I really liked them. We ordered the 42 inch pizza and had leftovers. I only had room for 1 slice. The worst part? The pizza is so big we had a lot of leftovers but at least I can have some more yummy pizza later! We wish we had ordered a smaller size but the experience was fun.
The server was super friendly and attentive to our needs. Our son is autistic and has a preference for certain textures and tastes, so he only usually eats pepperoni only. I mean, literally, only the pepperoni, no pizza, cheese, etc. Today, he actually tried the crust, and he ate it. So we tried our luck with the pizza, and he ended up eating that, too! I definitely got that on video, lol. We will definitely be ordering from here again.
Food was great, got the biggest pizza they have which was so much fun for the lil ones. Service was ok it was very busy that day and food took about 45mins to get to us which is understandable considering how busy they were and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. I highly reccomend for the experience
I’ve been coming to Big Lou’s for years the food is always great and the atmosphere is always welcoming. I went by tonight to pick up an online order, a gentleman came out and told me that he was not happy with the way my pizza had turned out. He asked very graciously if I wouldn’t mind waiting, He was going to have my order remade because he was not Happy with the way it had turned out. I waited for about another 10 minutes and the same gentleman brought my order out. Turns out he was the owner and wanted to make sure that I was satisfied with my order. I’d like to point out that Big Lou’s is always busy because the food is so great, He didn’t have to do this. This extra attention to detail is why my family keeps coming back.
Such a unique experience. Big Lou's pizza does a great job serving all types and sizes of groups that come in: young, old, business meeting or child's birthday party they can handle it well. With that the wings are large and delicious! Good job guys. See you soon.
This has to be one of the best pizza spots in San Antonio, and I’ve been around town trying them all! Definitely has some of the freshest and more premium ingredients, and the brightest smiles around! Food: 20/10 The food is definitely as fresh as it gets, there’s a little wait but always remember that the wait is WORTH IT! Everything seems to be made fresh to order, and everything just melts in your mouth! The dough is just great for those who like to eat the crust, and the portions are just GENEROUS! Also the prices are very affordable compared to the portions served; you definitely get your moneys worth! Service: ♾️/10 It would be a disservice if I didn’t shout out a certain team member who went above and beyond, his name is Zack! He was definitely trained with the Big Lou’s vision in mind, and he kept up with our party to the fullest extent! Refills were timely, he checked up on us. He was just a great person overall, and did everything to the upmost excellence! If he doesn’t get a raise soon, I’m gonna raise hell instead! Atmosphere: 10/10 The atmosphere was great, it felt like a cool old school pizza diner, full of antique posters and tables. The lighting definitely set the mood in place, and the smell of pizza was just perfect. Overall I definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in trying a great pizza place, you will not be disappointed!
We went out on valentines day my husband and I also my sister and son came with us. We ordered wings and pizza 🍕 so 😋 amazing can't go wrong with an8you order night was amazing
Very nice Pizza 🍕 Restaurant Good food and customer service lots of parking and big screen TV's
It had been a while since I’ve been here because of dietary restrictions and decided to treat myself on my birthday. I forgot how darn good this pizza is and it’s definitely my favorite in town. Some folks try to say it’s a gimmick because of their large pizza, but don’t get distracted by that. Coming from a community filled with Italian New Yorkers I can definitely say this is amazing pizza
There were 7 of us for lunch. No wait for a table. We all ordered the wraps. So good! 2 people also ordered side salads. They were huge! I also ordered a 12 inch Garlic Parm pizza to take home, because I knew that I needed something easy to eat later in the week. I am sure it will be great, too!
Biggest pizza I’ve ever seen! They have a tray in a nearby room to show just how massive it really is. No joke — you’d need a group of 20 plus to finish it. I didn’t go that big though 😅 Instead, we ordered two pizzas and 12 wings. The Sweet Memphis BBQ was super tasty, and the brisket pizza is a must-try. Our waitress was awesome and the service was excellent. Next time, I might just go for that 42-inch pie 😉
Big Lou's is known for their amazingly large pizzas! I believe their biggest is 42" round?? It will feed a large amount of people and you'll still awkwardly take some back home! I've been many times and have never felt disappointed by their food. Side salads are ice-cold, fresh, and delicious. Their pizza is good, a little greasy, as to be expected, but good flavor and quality of ingredients with a lot of variety if you like a more flavorful pizza. Is it the best pizza you'll ever have, NO... and not to be harsh on them, but it's just not a brilliant and creative pizza, which to some people might be a good thing, but to me, it's just good without hitting that status of "Great". I still go here often, and honestly, possibly the most under-appreciated item on the menu, is their Pizza Wraps!! They are beyond delightful and an order has three which is just enough for a lunch hour meal if you're in the area. This place has some quirks and isn't here to give you the best meal you'll ever experience. Service is typically good but don't expect to be pampered. They're known for their incredibly large pizzas and simply being there when they bring one out to a table, even if it's not your own table, is an experience worth the trip. If you can assemble a large group of people, the value and size of the meal becomes reasonable and a memory you'll share for a lifetime. Kids are absolutely fascinated by these things, and rightfully so! Images are of a 37" pizza and an order of pizza wraps as takeout. As their motto states, "We don't do average, we do BIG!"
This is my first time at Big Lou’s Pizza. We went here to celebrate my brother’s birthday and it well be one of our future go-to spots for family celebrations! Our server, Nate, was outstanding—he even joined in singing Happy Birthday with us, which made the occasion extra special. Everything came out perfect, and the food was both delicious and satisfying. Highly recommend for anyone dining with a large group!
If you’re looking for pizza with serious wow factor, Big Lou’s Pizza delivers — literally and figuratively. Known for their massive pies, including the legendary 42” and jaw-dropping 64” pizzas, this San Antonio staple is a must-visit for anyone who loves bold flavors and Texas-sized portions. The dough was a standout — perfectly chewy with just the right amount of crispness on the crust, acting as the ideal base for their well-balanced sauce and generous toppings. Every bite packed great flavor, clearly crafted with attention to quality and consistency. The wings were another highlight: seasoned to perfection with a savory kick, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Big Lou’s is perfect for large parties or family outings. The vibe is casual and relaxed, though it gets busy fast. Expect a wait during peak hours, with noise levels rising as the restaurant fills up — nothing overwhelming, but definitely lively. Fortunately, there’s ample seating both indoors and outdoors, so even big groups can usually find a comfortable spot. Whether you’re there to conquer the giant pizza or just enjoy some seriously good eats with friends, Big Lou’s Pizza offers a fun, filling, and flavorful experience worth repeating.
I had the custom garden salad and it was delicious 😋 It definitely can feed about 2-3 people. It had everything I wanted in a salad. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly, attentive and polite. I spent $30 +$10 for a tip, however I also had a drink. 🤔 I forgot what it was called, but it consisted of Cherries and Vodka frozen😋😋😋😋
The service is a little long, but fun with friends!! The food is really good and the pizza is a fun experience!! The bathrooms are clean and there’s lots of tables and booths!! We got the biggest pizza and it was so good and such a unique experience!! I definitely recommend doing this with friends, so you can get the big pizza!!
First time here. I paid almost a 100 bucks for 2 large pizzas and a dozen wings, plus tip. Food was good! However, I felt like people were not happy i was asking questions about the menu and pricing. Makes you feel uncomfortable. I let a couple people know I was a first timer and seemed it didn't matter lol. As a former server 15 years, you have to have good customer service. Again, good food. Prices a little too high. Also, menu online is different then in person. No kids menu. That should be taken off.
Everything here is big, especially the pizza. It's also nice to see a big parking lot. Entrance is no longer from the front. Expect to wait in line. This place is kind of out of the way and very popular with locals. It is well worth the extra drive. There's a different price if you pay by cash versus paying by card. They announce the difference in payment on a sign while waiting in line so be observant. Entrance to the restaurant is only through the back. There is indoor and outdoor seating.
When we went to Lou's, the wait was over an hour. Being outside in the Texas heat is not ideal, so be prepared. The pizzas were gigantic but the taste was just average for me. The pizzas were fresh and verry floppy. The bigger pizza you get, each slice becomes long and skinny. If you have a big group/party, this is the place to be.
Very nice family place. Most takes had large groups, which makes sense since it's pretty convenient to order one of the largest pizzas for the whole family to enjoy vs placing 6+ individual orders. The pizza is so good and their wings as well. The only reason why I deducted 1 star is because our server didn't really come around much. *They also have a photographer taking pictures for their page. I thought that was pretty neat.
Okay, they have the biggest pizza I've ever seen and attempted to put a dent on. We left with about fifteen dollars worth of pizza per person lol. It was good pizza too and crust was yummy. Alex was our waiter and he was amazing as well - very kind, friendly, and on point with service. Put it on your bucket list if you haven't been! We also loved that you can ask for several toppings as they're flexible so we did 1/4 cheese only and the rest pepperoni. Awesome experience overall.
I ordered the cheese sticks probably shouldn't have did that I ordered the largest pizza they have which they used to have a lot bigger one and after one slice I was put into a coma it was so delicious but unfortunately I couldn't finish it and after about a week of eating on it I'm down to four slices Believe it or not this is the only pizza that I have had cold and it still tastes just as delicious as it did and when it was straight out of the oven although trying to warm it back up was somewhat of a trick it's still just as good as when I ordered it either way I recommend if you're going to go and try this it'd be a huge group and when it got time to go they didn't have big enough pizza boxes for it but we made it fit in the box they gave us although I did watch people order wings and extra My body hated me for the rest of the day but the next morning I woke up and had another piece it's going to take me a while to you want to eat any kind of pizza but I will eventually eat pizza again I do recommend this for anybody who really wants really good really large pizza
Interesting place As I last Friday during the evening the line was stretched and no staff checking up on the people in the line and a sign wasn't clear. But missed opportunity as I would have loved to get the big pizza but not by myself and I wish they at least sold the slice. But the pizza was good as we got 12 inches pepperoni and beef and wing's. Our server was nice and on top of everything and the looks of the place was okay.
Took a little to get used to. You stand in line to order then taken to your table. Prices seemed fair. The backward way had an impact on table service. You needed to tackle the server for refills. The quality was good. I enjoyed the calzone. The brisket wrap was also good. There is a good selection of beers on tap.
Ordered a normal 14" veggie pizza plus caesar salad and drinks, whilst we were sitting we saw the huge 42" pizzas come out which was fun. Our pizza itself was quite nice and tasty and we customised our toppings, we opted for a thicker base. The place itself is quite cool, most definitely a sports bar vibe and ambience, they even gave us a free photo which was quite novel. Service ranged from quite friendly at the table to a little gruff when we went up to pay. Possibly a little overpriced, might be paying for the tourist hype of the humongous pizza's but still quite good overall.
Lunch time in San Antonio! We were referred to this restaurant by a family member. What a great choice! We ordered the 20" pizza with sausage and pepperoni. It was made from scratch, so it had great flavor and plenty of sauce. It was, ohhhhh so cheesy. We loved the pizza, so HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.
Had the 37 in pizza was very good also ordered the wings traditional were ok baked, the atmosphere was nice plenty to look at and had a nice vibe to it service was friendly but once food came did not come back to our table till was ready to bring our bill. Still overall was a good experience
I must say this place is absolutely delicious. When I first entered the parking lot I was doubting it. It looked empty. But then I drive around back and it was packed!! The wait time was an hour but luckily the bar was empty so I was able to skip the hour wait time. I ordered the hot and spicy deluxe and 12 wings. 6 lemon pepper and 6 mango habanero. The wings are baked here not fried which was nice for a change. I will say that the flats are way better than the drumbs. The drumbs were a bit too fatty for my liking and I did order them crispy but they didn’t feel crispy. Still delicious and the wings were very moist. The pizza was outstanding. The flavor was just perfect. I did wait a long time for the food but it was understandable since there were so many people. One other negative was that the restroom was very dirty. Like very dirty. But that then that Over all great experience will be back when I head back to San Antonio. Much love form Houston !!!!
Big Lou's is definitely the place to check out when you come to San Antonio. They have many items for all dietary needs. Everyone is friendly and the service was fast. The happy hour is a plus!!! Reservations are recommended for large parties. The 62 inch pizza is only on certain days.
Overall great place for a Going Away lunch for a coworker. Plenty of space, friendly energy, great service. Attentative staff. Of course large parties are more difficult to manage for some, however overall friendly staff. Did have to wait a while for drinks and refills, but understandable for large parties. Their large pizza was a show stopper. We were able to split it and take some home.
The food was good. The pizza was huge!! The baked wings are always delcious. Perfectly cooked and crispy. I feel that the pizza itself was enough for at least 10 people being a 42-inch $100 pizza. We eat were only able to eat once slice. The spaghetti was delcious. The meatballs in it were juicy and full of flavor. We had a great time and always love coming here when we are in town.
I don’t know about everybody else, but in my honest opinion I think this place was hyped soo much. I was expecting to be blown away buy the pizza and it turned out to be just, average. Quite disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad at all, but it was all the hype that surrounded this place throughout the years that really failed. I heard about this place all my life and I have never been,so I decided to try it. I’m a pizza guy, and I will say, in my opinion, it could of been better.
I don't like that they charge for water. They charged me for water but good thing he never brought it out so I was able to remove it from my bill which they conveniently added it onto. Waiter seemed eager to please and was attentive. Good was good but pizza could have been crispier. Will be back.
We went on Sunday afternoon. It didnt seem too busy but we waited quite a long time for our pizza and wings. The 20" pepperoni pizza took about 35 minutes. The 12 wings came about 45 minutes after the pizza. I am not sure what was going on this day but it was not like the first time we went.
Went here for their famous huge pizza. Once we arrived, it was chaos we had no idea where to wait for seating. We asked servers, and they just kept telling us to wait outside, which wasn't ideal in the blistering heat, so we elected to wait in the hall near the door instead. We had to ask 3 times where to wait and each person stated different places and advice. It was very confusing. Once we were finally shown to our table, the whole place was filled, and everyone was waiting for their orders. This is understandable since the pizzas are huge. We were waiting, and then our waitress took our orders and brought our drinks and not much after brought our appetizers of the Rose pepperoni bites. Once she set it down, she then disappeared completely. We ran out of drinks and had no update on our pizza whatsoever. After about 30 or 40 min. I just made my way to what looked like one of their drink refill station and asked for refills. The guy was very helpful and refilled all our drinks and asked who our server was. We td him, and he set out to look for her and also didn't find her. Then finally she showed up after about another 20 min apologizing but didn't quite clarify where she had went nor an update on our pizza but was able to provide another refill since we all went through out drinks again because we were waiting soooo long. Finally the pizza came and it was still doughy and not fully cooked. The sauce was sweet and different. Not necessarily in a good or bad way, just. Different. But again, I'm from NYC, so I'm a bit of a pizza snob when it comes to pizza, so there are many that may like it. It wasn't amazing to MY taste buds. It was great for pictures and a new experience since it's the biggest pizza I had ever seen. It's a good one-time stop. But I doubt I will go back again.
I wish I the ability to give them a negative star review. Had a horrible service, the staff rarely came to our table. The food took longer than what was quoted to us. The waitress messed up our order and no apologies were even given to us. The worst part was that a service fee was charged to a really bad service provided. Before paying we requested an itemized bill and was told that we'll be getting it once we had already paid. Poor service and management as well, other restaurants that I've been too atleast the management is walking around to make sure the service is good.
Ordered uber eats. The wrong food was delivered. Big Lou’s employee and delivery driver are blaming each other. I was told I had to go through uber for a refund, which I understand. The only resolution they offered was to remake it if I reorder on the app and pay again. Not going to waste my time just for them to mess up again. I haven’t ordered food from here in years and thank you for reminding my why.
Party of two couldn’t be seated inside due to an expected large party. Although there was plenty of tables available as we were shown to our table, which was in the outdoor patio section. Can’t even rate the service or the food. Waited for over 10 minutes before deciding to leave due to no one coming by our table. Didn’t want to wait to see if anyone was going to neglect us any further.
This is now the second time I’ve given this place a chance, and somehow the service managed to disappoint me all over again. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the host was nowhere to be found and it took over 10 minutes just to be seated. Once seated, we waited another 10 minutes before our server, Zak, finally acknowledged us. When he did, it wasn’t to welcome us—but to rush us. We were pressured to order immediately because he “had food to grab for other tables,” yet ironically, our food never even made it to us. We ordered dry wings and cheesy bread, which came out separately, without ranch, and with zero communication. When I mentioned the missing ranch, another employee responded that he “wasn’t our server,” so he wouldn’t have known—despite the fact that reading the ticket before running food should be the bare minimum. Overall, the entire experience felt careless, disorganized, and frustrating from start to finish. I tried to give this place another chance, but this will absolutely be the last time I give this business my money.
Got the biggest pizza spent over 100$ it was cold. Not good quality ingredients. Ordered a dr.pepper to drink it was EXTREMELY flat i got coke in the bottle was still charged for the dr.pepper. Service was not good they definitely need better trained servers. It was crowded I couldn't get to the bathroom had to ask 3 people if they can scoot in so I can get through. Won't be going back.
TL;DR: I organized a 20-person event around the largest pizza in San Antonio, confirmed it multiple times, and paid a deposit. When we arrived, the pizza was never made, staff seemed confused, no manager apologized or explained what happened, and we were later offered someone else’s pizza after we had already made alternative plans. The lack of communication and planning left me spending far more than planned and feeling disappointed and embarrassed. I run a Facebook group focused on making friends in San Antonio, and we were all really excited to meet for food. Someone suggested trying the largest pizza in San Antonio, which sounded like a fun, memorable idea. I called on Sunday to ask for details and was quoted an estimate. I was told the pizza would serve 30–35 people. I called again on Tuesday to confirm everything and book space for 20 people. I paid a $50 deposit and clearly explained that this was a “making friends” event and that we’d like an area where people could move around and socialize. We were excited to eat the largest pizza in SATX. I was assured this wouldn’t be a problem. On the day of the event, I called again at 1:50 PM to reconfirm, Virginia, 20 people, largest pizza at 6:30 PM. Everything was confirmed. When I arrived about 10 minutes early to set up name tags, the host seemed confused and disappeared for several minutes. Eventually, we were seated in a cramped area. While it technically fit 20 people, we had to pull tables ourselves due to a lack of seating, and there was no room to move or socialize beyond the person next to you. The biggest issue came when I asked about the pizza. The host looked completely confused, and it became clear that the “largest pizza” was never going to be made at all. This was the main reason our group chose this location, and I had to announce to everyone that it wasn’t happening. No apology was offered from a manager or explanation of what may had happen After some time, once everyone had come to terms with what had happened, we decided to request that we be moved to an outside area that we had originally discussed. At that point, we were offered someone else’s largest pizza instead. By then, this felt wrong and honestly exhausting. We had already gone through the effort of explaining the situation to our group and coming up with alternative plans, so this offer only added to the frustration. I eventually asked to speak to a manager just to communicate my concerns, but it was unclear who was actually in charge. Multiple employees jumped in, which added to the confusion Once we were moved and assigned a server, Tristan was fantastic. Despite everything, our group still managed to have a good time—but only because of the people and the excellent service from our server, not because of the planning or communication from management or the other service we were provided before Tristan. I understand miscommunications happen, but I did everything in my power to ensure this event ran smoothly. In the end, I spent significantly more than planned and left feeling disappointed and embarrassed. I truly wanted this to be a great experience, but unfortunately, it was not.
The pizza is really good actually. We have been there 2 times recently. One time was for my father’s 95th bday. I called ahead, i ensured to the best of my ability that this is a big deal, he choose this restaurant for his 95th bday and not one recognition. I even reminded them when we got there. It was not busy at that time. It was disappointing! But the pizza is good. We went there a second time a week ago for my son’s bday. The pizza was great! However the issue which several people remarked on is the offensive body bag decor wall hanging on the back wall in the FAMILY dining area. My kids birthday party pictures have that as his background. Will not return.
